SSIS packages - Dynamic MODIFYSCRIPT :: SAP BPC 7.0 MS

Hi,
I want to know if it is possible to create a Dynamic MODIFYSCRIPT, so if the user selects a RADIOBUTTON option, the next SSIS screen will show or a SELECTINPUT with a specific selected member or a TEXT with a value.
The idea is that a parameter can change another in debug time.
Thanks in advance.

  • SSIS package with MODIFYSCRIPT problem

    Hi guys,
I've created an SSIS package which had 2 variables: MODIFYSCRIPT with some commands and an Object variable to pass sql query data from one task to another.
The problem that I faced was that the MODIFYSCRIPT variable was totally ignored when I ran the package. In fact, MODIFYSCRIPT will work fine unless there is another variable of type Object, in other words, you seem to be unable to have Object variables in SSIS packages if you want to change dynamically the tasks' properties from BPC.
The only solution that I managed to find for the problem is to set a different namespace to the Object variable. Only in this case the MODIFYSCRIPT does changes to tasks' properties and the whole package works fine.
Is there any logical explanation for this problem?
    Thanks.
    Valera

    Hi shylin,
Here is an example. Edit the package in SQL and add the following two lines to the MODIFYSCRIPT variable to run the AllConsol logic:
    TASK(Execute formulas,LOGICMODE,1)
    TASK(Execute formulas,LOGICFILE,%APPPATH%..AdminApp%APP%AllConsol.lgx)
    Hope this helps,
    Regards

  • Dynamic Hierarchy - SAP BPC 7.5 MS

Hello everyone. I am running SAP BPC 7.5 on the Microsoft Platform.
The issue I am running into is that I have children entities that have two parent entities. The Entity Dimension has our traditional organization chart. However, our reports require an alternate hierarchy.
    Example:
Company A is a child of Company ABC in the org chart
    however for reporting purposes
Company A is a child of Company XYZ
I need to pull in company XYZ in the report so that Company A is reported as being a part of it.
I need to be able to set up something using a dimension property that will allow me to pull in this hierarchy into our reports, WITHOUT using expansions.
The reason I cannot use expansions is some of the report will use the traditional org chart and the other portion of the report will use the alternate hierarchy.
I there some way to do this without using expansions?
I have setup a dimension property called "GROUP" that identifies the alternate hierarchy. However, the only way I know to pull it in the report is through the use of expansions in the "MembersSet" filter.
I have also tried to use the "Dynamic Hierarchy Editor" only to discover that you have to define hierarchies for specific time periods, and still use expansions.
Any suggestions? I feel like I am missing something.
    Thank you in advance.
    Will

    Hi Will,
From what you describe I think an alternate (second/ H2) hierarchy is needed.
You can try adding a second hierarchy to your Entity dimension member sheet (PARENTH2) to see if that meets your requirement.
You can only create reports that have a hard-coded row or column key range or a dynamic row/column key range  defined in the memberset field.

    Hi Vishal Mahawadhi,
Thank you for replying. I've tried all your suggestions before I even logged the query. I even went to analysis manager, gave access to the application and processed the cube but still that didn't help.
But I noticed that I only have read access when I look at the settings on the roles in analysis manager. The problem is that I can't change the settings to read/write. Version 4.1 is a mess.

  • BPC 7.0 MS upgrade - reinitiate SSIS packages required

    Hello,
We have recently upgraded from BPC 5.1 to BPC 7.0 MS version.
We have SSIS package to load Accounts (as flat file), which load the flat file into a staging table and then moved to <mbraccount>.
This setup works very fine till in BPC 5.1, after upgrade to BPC 7.0 MS and noticed that the Account - member are loaded in jumbled order. Further investigating, we found that the SSIS packages loaded to staging table in the same jumbled order and then followed to copy the same in mbraccount table.
    1. Should we required to re-initiate all the SSIS packages (custom built) after BPC 7.0 MS upgrade?
    2. Have SSIS packages to load other MasterData, the same procedure as above but no issues in display order of dimension members. Why is it so?
    Any clue..
    Thanks in advance.
    Warm Regards
    Uma

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for the reply.
No change in the versions SQL SERVER  2005 and EXCEL 2003 for both SAP 5.1 and 7.0.112
These DM packages are customised and flow of data is as below:
Flat File -->  Clear the staging table (delete from stage) --> load the flatfile data into Staging table ( via Data Flow task, Table - Fast load option) --> clear the MBR tbl --> Copy Stage into MBRACCOUNT table
Not using the SSIS bulk insert.
This works well after gone live almost for 4-5 months in BPC 5.1 and as said recently upgraded in Mid June 2009, we have issues loading MasterData in jumbled order.
Account ids are all numeric. Flat file extracted from SAP R/3 is in correct sequential order and while loading into Stagingtable.. it sorting order varies and then copied the same into Mbr<dim> table.
Should this problem be with SSIS packages? Any clues.
    Warm Regards
    Uma

  • How to build SSIS package for SAP BPC 5.0

Is the above how paper apply to BPC 5.1?
    I also have two questions:
1.As we know in the Data Manager 5.1 user guide indicate that we use DTS to manage  SQL Server 2000 packages, and  SSIS  to manage  SQL Server 2005 packages.
Also in the guide, when it discuss about the data manager package, it only reference DTS, is all the DTS package discussed in that guide apply to SSIS?
    2. from BPC 7.0 NW, the BPC is part of NetWeaver , what role SSIS is play here, since we know that a lot of customer of not use SQL Server  as their database.

    Hi JW,
The answer to your question #2 is that we won't have SSIS packages in BPC7NW since all SQL server based functionality won't be there in Netweaver version. If you use migration tools to migrate from BPC5.x to BPC7NW, it can convert SSIS packages. However any custom SSIS code would have to be converted manually. • NEW TO SAP BPC - Advice on Data Management Packages

    Hi,
I am an experienced Microsoft BI User, but am new to SAP BPC.
I am working on a project that has required me to create custom SSIS packages for my client. To date my packages transform / cleanse and format the source into a clean CSV file, that requires no further intervention from the user, other than to use the standard SAP BPC Import Routine, with a simple Transformation file.
In order to fully automate the process, I would like my Custom package to automatically invoke the Standard import package without any user based intervention.
    Can anyone advise on this?
I have considered writing further logic in my custom package that would completely bypass SAP BPC Data Manager, and insert the information direclty into the Fact Tables, taking into consideration any members that don't exist in the Dimensions. However, I would prefer not to go down this route unless absolutely necessary.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, so that I can call a clear routine from within my custom package, that would invoke a SAP BPC package /task to clear certain data from the fact table, and then call another Package / task that would update the Fact table based on a fully prepared csv file.
    Many thanks

You could modify your custom package to perform all the steps thru BPC import and have the user initiate the Package from the BPC Data Manager.  You would just need to add a MODIFYSCRIPT variable (see the standard IMPORT package as an example) and add the BPC tasks required to Convert/Load that data your package already prepares.
I have had prior success having a custom package initiated from within the BPC Data Manager extract data from an external data source (ie: Oracle), use user provided runtime input to customize data extraction parameters, manipulate the extracted data, and import it into BPC.
Unfortunately I've never attempted to initiate a BPC task without the package being initiated from within BPC.  But I would surmise that if you provide the proper values for the individual BPC Tasks (ie: Convert and Load) required properties (ie: AppSet, App, User,...), I cannot think why it would not work.

  • SSIS packages on BPC v5

    Helo Forum,
We encounter the following problem.   Within an application we run a logic located in another application.
This usually works fine however in this particular instance the dimension names of the time and entity dimension is different.  Hence the package  ends in error as he can not find the time and entity dimension in the first application.   My quetion is how can I modify the SSIS package so that the dimension name  used in the logic is translated to the dimension name of the source application where I call the package.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi, Sanjaj,
U were right when saying that SAP BPC for NW version has SAP BW backend (not SQL Server) and that's why we don't use SSIS packages in Data Manager functionality. Instead of it we r using packages build on NetWeaver process chains (ABAP). U can get more information about BPC for NW packages at the official help page:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc70sp02/helpdata/en/af/36a94e9af0436c959b16baabb1a248/frameset.htm
The main idea is that u still have a list of standart packages that u can use (master data loading, transactional data loading, etc) and u can create your own packages build on your own process chains.
    Hope that will help u,
    Dzmitry

  • How to create a dynamic SSIS package for multiple flat file destinations

    Hi,
I have to create a ssis package which has single data flow task and inside that I have 23 source (sql- select * from - statements)- destination (flat files, 23 distinct) connection.
Now for each product I have to create separate SSIS package (i.e. if prod=abc then these read select * from abc_tables and 23 abc_ txt files)
I want to do it dynamically, means only single package and inside that variables will take select * values for each source-dest connection (so i believe 23 variables) and same for destination flat files.
    Let me know. :)
ANK HIT - if reply helps, please mark it as ANSWER or helpful post

Sorry It seems you're contradicting yourself. you say I know my source and dest structure and the you're
asking all I want is to have a dynamic structure
    what does that mean?
    and reading your next sentence
I want to run a package for 5 products, instead of creating 5 ssis packages with 23 source- dest connection, I would
like to have one with only 23 source- dest connections
What I feel is what you're looking for is to  have a looping structure to loop through each of the 5
    products.
In that case what you could do is this
    1. Create a object variable in SSIS
    2. Use a Execute SQL Task to populate the variable with all available products (I think you'll have a master table for that). Set ResultSet property to Full ResultSet and then in ResultSet tab map Object variable to 0 th index
    3. use a ForEachLoop container with ADO .NET recordset enumerator and map to object variable. Create a variable of datatype same as that of Product identifier field to get individual values out
    4. Inside loop create your data flow task with 23 source destination connection. In the query part use a parameter for product field and map it to the variable containing product value to get only data for the product.

  • Dynamic connection string not working in SSIS package 2008R2

I am using SSIS package for Import data from excel sheet to SQL DB. In the configuration file I'm using following variables.
    Name scope DataType Value
    DBName package String DB_Master
    Password package String xx
    UserName package String sa
    ServerName package String xxx.xxx.x.xx
    SqlConnectionString package String DataSource=xxx.xxx.x.xxx;UserID=sa;Provider=SQLNCLI10.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;Initial Catalog=DB_Master;Password=xx
Right click OLEDB ConnectionManager then click properties window below values assign
    ConnectionString - Initial Catalog=DB_Master;DataSource=xxx.xxx.x.xxx;UserID=sa;Provider=SQLNCLI10.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;
    DelayValidation - True
    Expressions -ConnectionString - @[User::SqlConnectionString]

    Expression -"DataSource=" + @[User::ServerName] + ";UserID=" + @[User::UserName] + ";Provider=SQLNCLI10.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;Initial Catalog=" + @[User::DBName] + ";Password=" + @[User::Password]
After deploy the package file I change the DBName in SqlConnectionString DB_Master to Master but package execute the files in DB_Master.
and also if i give invalid ServerName like 198.152.1 but package executed successfully.
Please tell me where i made mistake. what's goes wrong...?
I just use variable like below link

First see whether you've some other configurations also set inside the package for the same properties? ie direct configuration for connection manager properties.
Secondly see if its executed from a job and you're overriding the values through the job properties.

  • *Error executing SSIS Package from BPC 5.1*

    All -
I'm trying to execute a perfectly working SSIS package from BPC 5.1. When I execute the package it instantly completes executing (Failure) with nothin written to the Log file.
After doing further analysis, we have found the root cause to be "Sequence Containers" in SSIS Packages. We can execute the same package if we remove the sequence container.
When we try to edit the SSIS package via BPC, containing the Sequence Containers", we receive the following error:
[QuerytoServer] An error occurred while getting a package information. System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Sequence' to type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.TaskHost' at Osoft.Services.Application.DataMgr.PackageExecute.DTSX.GetPackageInfor()
When we try to edit SSIS packages via BPC, containing NO Sequence Containers", everything is wonderful.
Does anyone have any suggestions, besides removing all of the Sequence Containers and moving the tasks to the base SSIS package level?
I trully appreciate any help you guys can provide.

    Hi Lars,
Could you be more specific the step you did?
    1. It works fine in Visual Studio,
    2. It is not working with Excel Front-end. Call the package from Excel.
    3. It worked few days ago, ==> Do you mean it was working with #2 step?
I think this might be caused by authentication,
    1. could you check your athentication you have for #1 and #2?
    2. Did you introduce BPC DM to call the package? BPC DM uses impersonated ID even you use ID which has restrictive to use system resource, there will be no problem for the authentication.
    3. As you see the log, it points FLOW task and OLEDB SOURCE, check your connection string in OLEDB SOURCE also.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,

  • Multiple SQL Queries in SAP BPC  5.1 EVMODIFY

    Hi All,
We have multiple SQL Queries in Outlooksoft 4.2 which extracts data from Oracle source system with different set of selections and conditions and parameters. We were able to use multiple SQL Queries in Outlooksoft 4.2 using Transform Data Flow Task and paste parameters using evModify dynamic script task, where ever extract to source system is needed.

  • Parsing PROMPT values to custom SSIS package

    Hi,
I need to extract data from our customers ERP system. I have created a SSIS package doing this. I'm using two SSIS variables 'STARTDATE' and 'ENDDATE' to specify the range in transactions I want to extract. I have tested the SSIS package with the variables pre-filled (in SSIS) from SAP BPC 7.5 and the package is working as expected.
Now i want to change the pre-filled values with values from my PROMPTs in my BPC package. I have created two PROMPTs called BEGIN and END. I have tried to parse the values in different ways, but havn't found the solution. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

    Regards,

This is confusing, I can't understand why you are getting this error, it seems to me that BPC is trying to look for your stored procedure in your APPSET DB (Source Server) . If your connection object, which is defined in the package is pointing to the correct destination server, then it should work, unless you have modified te connection using Dynamic Script (which it appears not to be the case)
You can try to create the stored procedure in the source system, but I suspect you will get the error message "Object not found, etc... ", becuase your source server doesnt know about your database in your query.
You can try add the following dynamic script, which implicitly tells BPC to override the connection object with the settings you have provided.
    DEBUG(ON)
    INFO(%DBName%,YourSourcedBName)
    INFO(%DSTSrv%,YourDestinationServerName/IP)
    PROMPT(TEXT,%BEGINDATE%,"Enter start date:",,"")
    PROMPT(TEXT,%ENDDATE%,"Enter end date:",,"")
    CONNECTION(SQLconn,ConnectionString,Data Source=%DSTSrv%;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;)
    CONNECTION(SQLconn,InitialCatalog,%DBName%)
    CONNECTION(SQLconn,ServerName,%DSTSrv%)
    OLEDBCONN(Source - LEDGERTRANS,SqlCommand,"EXEC dbo.AXdata '%BEGINDATE%', '%ENDDATE%'")
    OLEDBCONN(Source - LEDGERTRANS,OpenRowSet,"EXEC dbo.AXdata '%BEGINDATE%', '%ENDDATE%'")
Make sure you amend the following
YourSourcedBName - Your Destination Server Database Name (The name of the database where you are extracting data from)
DSTSrv - The destination server ne or IP Address
SQLConn - This is the name of your OLE DB connection object defined in the package. This should be the same connection object in which your OLEDB Source is using..
And try to fully qualify your SQL code, meaning try to put the full path, for example
    EXEC DBName.dbo.AXdata '%BEGINDATE%', '%ENDDATE%'"
I hope this helps and resolves your error..
    Kind Regards
    Daniel
