SSL cert error on exchange 2013.

Hi,
Can I please have some help to avoid the following two error messages appears on opening outlook 2013 on windows 7 connected directly to the server 2012 domain.
Godaddy SSL cert is installed on mail.domain.com and firewall forwarding is properly setup.
There is NO error message if we connect through outlook (AnyWhere) on a system which is not part of the domain and connecting from outside.
Error Box 1
Security Alert

The security certificate is from a trusted certifying authority.
The security certificate date us valid

Microsoft Outlook
There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate.
The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the target site servername.localdomain.local

Any quick help will be highly appreciated!
Many thanks

Hi,
Are you using a Single domain cert by GoDaddy, if thats the case we cannot add more than one domain to your cert. I believe you have added the outlook anywhere domain name to your cert since your outlook anywhere connection is prompting any errors.
You have two options, one is purchase a UCC Cert and add all URL's required or Please have a look on these below Virtual Directories on the exchange server and modify the the URL's so you will not get the Cert errors.
use the shell to view the internal and external URL's,
Get-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory | fl internalurl,externalurl
Get-AutoDiscoverVirtualDirectory | fl internalurl,externalurl
Get-ECPVirtualDirectory | fl internalurl,externalurl
Get-OabVirtualDirectory | fl internalurl,externalurl
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | fl internalurl,externalurl
Change all your internal URL's similar to the external URL's, use the Set command as the example below.
Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -server EXCHANGE | Set-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -ExternalUrl ‘https://mail.domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml’
make sure all your servername.localdomain.local URL's are changed to match primary certificate name.

  • Certificate errors with Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013

    Hello, I wonder if someone could help.
    I've recently set up a network with one Windows 2012 domain controller and one windows 2012 server running Exchange 2013.
    Clients run Outlook 2013 and are all one the same Lan. Outlook's setup wizard finds the exchange server automatically and sets up the profile. However if I choose the manual setup and enter the server
    name and user name it does not find the server.
    When I check the server name in Outlook it shows as
    [email protected] rather than the real name of the server: AYCEX01.AYC.local.
    When Outlook is opened there is a certificate error saying "The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site." and another error saying "There is
    a problem with the server's security certificate. The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the target site mail.ardfernyacht.co.uk. Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server. (Error code 10)
    The external address by which users connect to OWA and active sych is mail.ardfernyacht.co.uk. The
    certificate which is used is one automatically generated by Exchange.
    Any suggestions you may have would be appreciated.

    Self sign cert wont work With autodiscover.For that you need 3rd part or from Your own CA.
    Please follow this guide to install CA in Your domain:
    http://careexchange.in/how-to-install-certificate-authority-on-windows-server-2012/
    Please follow this guide to request New cert in Exchange 2013:
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/create-ssl-certificate-request-exchange-2013/
    Your cert must contain external hostname of Your mail.domain.com
    Also configure Your Virtual directories to contain internal and external hostname:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mvpawardprogram/archive/2013/03/18/virtual-directories-exchange-2013.aspx
    Regarding servername when using autodiscover,it should automatically resolve mailbox guid instead of servername.
    Please check if Your DNS is setup With autodiscover.domain.local (which is pointed to Your Exchange server)
    Hope this helps!
    Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Thank you! Off2work

  • Error During Exchange 2013 Mailbox Transport Role Install On Server 2012

    I was installing Exchange 2013 on Server 2012.  The server is not a DC, but is a member of a domain with a 2008 R2 functional level, and I was logged in as a domain admin.  There has never been an Exchange instance on this domain.  I got past
    the prerequisite checks, and the installer showed 15 steps, so I walked away.  When I came back, I saw this:
    Step 8 of 15: Mailbox role: Transport service
    Error:
    The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
              $maxWait = New-TimeSpan -Minutes 8
              $timeout = Get-Date;
              $timeout = $timeout.Add($maxWait);
              $currTime = Get-Date;
              $successfullySetConfigDC = $false;
              while($currTime -le $timeout)
                $setSharedCDCErrors = @();
                try
                  Set-SharedConfigDC -DomainController $RoleDomainController -ErrorVariable setSharedCDCErrors -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue;
                  $successfullySetConfigDC = ($setSharedCDCErrors.Count -eq 0);
                  if($successfullySetConfigDC)
                    break;
                  Write-ExchangeSetupLog -Info ("An error ocurred while setting shared config DC. Error: " + $setSharedCDCErrors[0]);
                catch
                  Write-ExchangeSetupLog -Info ("An exception ocurred while setting shared config DC. Exception: " + $_.Exception.Message);
                Write-ExchangeSetupLog -Info ("Waiting 30 seconds before attempting again.");
                Start-Sleep -Seconds 30;
                $currTime = Get-Date;
              if( -not $successfullySetConfigDC)
                Write-ExchangeSetupLog -Error "Unable to set shared config DC.";
            " was run: "Unable to set shared config DC.".
    The only option on the screen was exit, so I did.  I checked the start menu, and there were two new Exchange icons, but I did not click them.  I ran the installer again, and it detected an incomplete install, the only option was to click next to
    finish the install, so I clicked next.  This time, I eventually got the same error, except the screen showed "Step 8 of 15: Mailbox role: Transport service."  I did install some Exchange 2010 prerquisites on the server before Exchange Server 2013
    came out, and I can rebuild the server and try the install again if that would be best, but I thought I should post here first and try to work through this since the product is so fresh.  Any suggestions?

    I've tried three times since my last post, following
    http://msexchange2010.info/archives/2330 as closely as possible the most recent time.  I am consistently getting the same error that appears to imply I don't have write access to the domain.  I don't understand this, because I am using the
    same domain admin account I have been using all along.  Nonetheless, here is the powershell output starting with the first Exchange setup.exe step (all other steps were already performed, all available updates were installed, and the server was rebooted
    prior to this):

    I am cleaning out in ADSI and rebuilding the server for now, because the server is behaving oddly (not as oddly as it was with 6GiB, but oddly, nonetheless).  I probably won't try to install Exchange again before tomorrow.  What should I do to prevent
    encountering the above again and/or if I encounter it again?

  • Perflib and MSExchange Common Error on Exchange 2013

    Hello,
    I am getting two error messages (in attachment) again and again on two newly installed Exchange 2013 SP1 servers with combined Exchange roles. I found a lot but could not find and solution. Please guide how to resolve the issue;
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Hi,
    For the first error, please try the following steps to check this issue.
    1. Write down the name that is mentioned as [module] in your Event ID 1023 message.
    2. Click Start, click Run and type Regedit [enter] (If you do not have a run option just hit the Windows key + R)
    3. In the Registry browse to the key:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ServiceName\Performance
    Where ServiceName references to the [module] name you wrote down in step 1.
    4. Under the Performance branch check the entry that says “Library”.
    5. Check if the file exits in the folder that is referenced in the registry Library entry.
    6. Search the computer for that filename to see if it exists on other locations.
    7. Compare file size and versions of the files that are found. If the DLL from step 5 is older/lower version then the ones in other folders you might want to rename this DLL and copy a newer one to the folder.
    If you are unable to find the DLL anywhere else on the computer check the original media (CD/DVD) you installed the product from to see if the DLL exist on there. Copy or extract it to the folder where the Perflib expects it.
    Then start a Command prompt and type:
    REGSVR32 [path][file.dll] – where path and file.dll refer to the complete path and filename of the file you just copied.
    And refer to this document
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc727009%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

  • Setup Error Reinstallin Exchange 2013

    Trying to reinstalling Exchange 2013 after removing Exchange from ADSI, IIS, Registry, and Active Directory. Receiving the following error when attempting AD Prep. ERROR: Method Not found:  Boolean Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Mime.MimeAddressParser.IsValidDomain(System.String,

    When I look at the Schema with ADSI edit, I still see all the ms-exch attributes from the initial Schema Prep that was conducted. Both the Schema Prep and AD Prep was conducted successfully, but when Exchange 2013 SP1 combined was loaded, OWA never worked
    right and I was having issues connecting properly with SP 2013.  I did use a similar blog about uninstalling Exchange, that went into more depth that the one you listed.  Here is a copy of my Exch Setup Logs when I attempt to run Prepare AD:

  • Outlook save/update error with Exchange 2013 public folder used as Contact Items

    Hello Everybody.
    This problem is driving me crazy.
    In Exchange 2013 i have created a public folder with several subfolders used as Contact Items.
    I've reviewed all settings several times and all is ok.
    Outlook 2010/2013 users several times receive the message:
    "The item cannot be saved to this folder. The folder was deleted or moved, or you do not have permission. Do you want to save a copy of it in the default folder for the item?"
    when try save an existing contact after modification.
    I can assure you that user permissions, server configurations are ok; please, help me.

    Did you make the subfolder the correct type, i.e., a contacts-type folder?

  • DPM 2012 setup to remote SQL 2012. SSL cert error

    First of all, the category I selected, which was for SQL server reporting services was as close as I could get. There wasn't a way to select System Center DPM server from the list. As this relates to the Report Server portion of the setup, I chose this category.
    I am setting up DPM 2012 SP1 on a single use server (Windows Server 2102 R2 Standard) and remotely connecting to a new DB server (MSSQL 2012). I keep getting error ID:812 when trying to install, and the logs show that it is trying to set up report server,
    but that it cannot establish a trust relationship for SSL/TLS.
     * Exception :  => System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS
    secure channel. ---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.
    I'm not clear on how to proceed. Invalid cert means it wants something very specific.
    I have installed a domain issued cert from the DC on the SQL reporting server and have bound that cert to SSL using report server configuration. I then imported the cert into the DPM server in the trusted and personal certs. The DPM server has our DC as
    a trusted source. That clearly doesn't work.
    Thinking I may not be able to use a self-signed cert, I then installed our wildcard cert onto both the SQL server and the DPM server. I ran through the Report Server configuration again and bound that wildcard. This is a Godaddy wildcard cert.
    Same problem no matter what I do. Clearly, this is matter of a cert issue, but I'm lost. There are zero instructions I've found on how to ensure Windows server 2012 cert requirements are met as it relates to SQL and DPM.
    Thanks for your advice.
    Kaden

    Hi Kaden,
    This thread is for reporting service and I hope i can provide some useful informaiton from reporting service side while i don't work on DPM at all. You may still need to find out the forum for the DPM and check there.
    Regardingless of DPM, Reporting Service can usually create HTTP link and HTTPS link together. For the HTTP one, a certificate is needed. HTTPS is not needed excep you have the concern with  security.
    Usually application like DPM/SCOM will connect to the web service link provided by Reporting Service and work on that.
    If the application requires a HTTPS link, then same thing has to be setup on reporting.
    You need to install a certificate and add it to trust store and then configure reporting service to listening on HTTPs 443 port from the reporting service configuration manager.
    You can find the steps here.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345223(v=sql.110).aspx
    After you create the HTTPS link successful, try to open the https web service link both remotely or locally from IE. If you can open it there without any error, reporting service is working fine.
    For some applications, they would need special  certificates installed on reporting service and used. You may check with the related product on this then.
    In a summary, if you can configure a HTTPS link for reporting service can open it correctly, configuration steps on reporting service is fine.
    If there is still any error from DPM, you would need check additional resource from DPM part.
    Thanks,

    I was installing Exchange 2013 on Server 2012.  The server is not a DC, but is a member of a domain with a 2008 R2 functional level, and I was logged in as a domain admin.  There has never been an Exchange instance on this domain.  I got past
    the prerequisite checks, and the installer showed 15 steps, so I walked away.  When I came back, I saw this:
    Step 8 of 15: Mailbox role: Transport service
    Error:
    The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
              $maxWait = New-TimeSpan -Minutes 8

    Hi Deepak,
    From the error description, I would like to clarify the following things:
    1. Please ensure that IPv6 on the network adaptor is turned on.
    2. Please check if the account that you used to install Exchange has necessary permissions to perform the installation.
    3. Make sure that DNS is configured correctly.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.
    If there are any problems, please feel free to let me know.

    We're in the same boat.  This is a production installation, running on Windows Server 2012, that we've been getting that error on for months.  We just updated to CU3 and the error is still there.  It doesn't seem to impact anything as far
    as I can see, so I'm not certain that it matters.
    For what it's worth, we use a single certificate for the IIS,POP,IMAP,SMTP services on all of our CAS servers.  It's issued from our internal CA and has ~13 entries in the SAN for various purposes.  It was issued from a custom template that we
    use for various purposes, so it's possible there's something about the certificate that something somewhere doesn't like.   Unfortunately the error doesn't seem to contain any specifics, so it's difficult to tell what's happening.
    The event immediately after the error is information event 2002:
    A round of expiration check has finished. The next round is scheduled at...
    Also at the same time there is a warning in the system log for Event 6037, LSA (LsaSrv)
    The program w3wp.exe, with the assigned process ID 2804, could not authenticate locally by using the target name HTTP/owa.langslb.domain.com. The target name used is not valid. A target name should refer to one of the local computer names, for example,
    the DNS host name.
     Try a different target name.
    The address is the address used by our hardware load balancer for our CAS servers.  The IP for the name will be one of the CAS.  On reboot, even if the load balancer doesn't have time to detect one of the systems being offline, it would have a
    percentage chance of getting the IP of an already online system.
    I have the exact same error with Exchange 2013 CU3 CAS servers. can any one explain what is that about? and how to resolve it?

  • WLC Virtual Interface config for a public SSL cert for Web Authentication

    I'm trying to get a cert loaded on my 5508 WLC running 7.6.130.0 so when a Web-Auth users tries to authenticate they don't get the SSL cert error.
    In the document "Generate CSR for Third−Party Certificates and
    Download Chained Certificates to the WLC"
    Document ID: 109597 it states the following
    "Note: It is important that you provide the correct Common Name. Ensure that the host name that is
    used to create the certificate (Common Name) matches the Domain Name System (DNS) host name
    entry for the virtual interface IP on the WLC and that the name exists in the DNS as well. Also, after
    you make the change to the VIP interface, you must reboot the system in order for this change to take
    effect.
    Here are my questions.
    1. I have always had 1.1.1.1 as the address of the Virtual interface, should that change or can I leave it as 1.1.1.1?
    2. In the "DNS Host Name" Field do I simply put the domain or the FQDN?  Example. Company.com or hostname.company.com

    Hi,
    1) You can change that if you want. Normally it is non-Public and non-routable in your network.
    2) Put the Host name for which you are going to give in your company DNS server where that Host name would be mapped to the Virtual ip address.
