SSRS in Sharepoint 2010

Hello,
We have SSRS 2008 r2 add in SharePoint 2010. We have new data warehouse runs SQL Server 2012. Do we need to upgrade add-in to SSRS 2012. If we need to do it, do we need to purchase a separate license? Or can we just upgrade it?
Again if we need to do it, how do we run our existing reports in SSRS 2012?
Thank You

The PUR for SQL 2012 apparently changed in October 2013 to where if you're running SSRS integrated with SharePoint, it does not require a separate license, but I strongly encourage you to contact Microsoft Licensing to validate this (as otherwise, installing
SSRS on the SharePoint server would incur an additional cost).
The SSRS add-in can be updated without any cost.
Here is the TechNet info on upgrading/migrating SSRS with SharePoint:

  • SSRS with SharePoint 2010 Managed Metadata or Lookup Values - Display

    When creating an SSRS (SQL Server 2008 R2) report from SharePoint 2010 list/library data using BIDS:
    A Lookup field or Managed Metadata field displays in the format "1;#value" rather then just the "value".
    SharePoint columns that have Rich Text display HTML tags in the report field.
    What is the best way around these issues?
    Is a Regular Expression the best way to parse out the value? If so does anyone have an example? Is there a BIDS/Dataset adjustment in the query that displays a "more user friendly values" from either Lookup/Managed Metadata or HTML tags?

    thanks for posting this fix, but it only works if there is a single Meta Data term used picked. But in the case of multiple Terms used (or Person columns) you will need something like this. Very ugly but it works. Strips out all the special characters and
    numbers.
    =REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"9", "", 1),"8", "", 1),"7", "", 1),"6", "", 1),"5", "", 1),"4", "", 1),"3", "", 1),"2", "", 1),"1", "", 1),"0", "", 1),";", "", 1),"#", " ", 1)
    Basically I combined these statements into one nested statement
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"#", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,";", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"0", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"1", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"2", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"3", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"4", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"5", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"6", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"7", "", 1)
    =REPLACE(Fields!Reviewers.Value,"8", "", 1)

  • Reporting Services 2012 in SharePoint 2010 - do I need to install SSRS on each server?

    Have spent some time today setting up SSRS2012 with SP1 Business Intelligence Edition on our test SharePoint 2010 farm.  The SharePoint farm is four servers (plus a database) - one of the application servers will host the SQL Server 2012 instance and
    SSRS 2012.
    I've installed SSRS 2012 on one of the servers in SharePoint mode, and seems to be configured correctly in Central Admin - can view the system settings, it reports that the SQL Server Agent is running, etc.  I've also installed the SSRS 2012 SharePoint
    Add-In on all servers.  However, I'm getting the following error whenever I try to do anything with reports (such as deploying or running):
    Name=Request (POST:http://sharepoint/reports/ReportService2010.asmx) System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: The file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by
    the server administrators.
    Sure enough, if I try to connect to that ReportService2010.asmx URL in a browser, I get the same error.  Note that http://sharepoint is NOT the server I installed SSRS on - this is a web front-end.
    Can I assume that I need to install SSRS2012 (SharePoint integrated) on all SharePoint servers in the farm?  Or is this another issue?

    You only need to install the Add-on for the additional servers. Have you configured the SSRS Service Application?

  • Problem running SSRS report on SharePoint 2010 - report renders rendomly

    I have an SSRS master report that contains about 30 sub-reports. These reports are deployed to SharePoint 2010 server. Per my understanding these reports run independently of Reporting Server (execute directly from the cube/database).
    It appears that this master report executes for about 10 minutes and then returns a blank page for most requests. Seldom it returns the master report consisting 30 sub-reports. I have checked Report Server logs using the following query and it shows no trace.
    Use ReportServer
    select * from ExecutionLog3 order by TimeStart DESC
    I set SharePoint 2010 logging to the lowest level and reviewed the log for the run-time of the report. This log shows that the report and sub reports are being executed, however it does not provide any significant error information. Follows a sample of what
    SharePoint log contains for single sub-report execution.

    I have tried running reports on IE 8, IE 9, Chrome and on multiple systems. This random behavior does not change across browsers or machines. Report is rendered for one out of 10 requests (if at all).
    Has someone experienced this problem? I have been spending a lot of time just to see the report output of the master. Unfortunately my SharePoint reports use shared data-sets and it is not possible to run master from Visual Studio 2008 IDE as well.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Kenny,
    Thank you for your question.
    From your description, you can to move the parameter pane from right to the top in the SharePoint site, right? I am afraid this cannot be done in SQL Server 2008R2 SSRS reports on SharePoint 2010 integrated mode. And this is a know issue which you can see:http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/545893/allow-ssrs-parameter-panel-to-be-formatted
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • SSRS 2008 R2 SharePoint 2010 integration error?

    Hi, I have SSRS 2008 R2 in SharePoint 2010 integration mode. I'm getting kind of strange error with below scenario:
    1) SSRS report has data-source to SQL Server 2008 R2 database store procedure.
    2) SQL Server procedure execute SELECT query using linked server to Oracle database (Oracle driver).
    3) SSRS report has parameter call 'Customer' which allows user to filter the data. This customer report parameter drop-down is also get execute SQL store procedure and get data from Oracle linked server.
    Oracle database  <---------> SQL Server 2008 R2 (SQL procedure & linked server to Ora) <-----> SharePoint SSRS Report
    Problem :  When user select one customer from parameter drop-down and click 'Apply' to render report it works. But if user change report parameter then it got error. This error is relate to can't execute main SQL procedure Oracle package to linked server.
    Not sure why this happening when user select new parameter value and got this error? Interesting enough, I replicate scenario using Visual Studio 2008 and run report with different values by selecting customer parameter and it works perfectly fine! Not sure
    why it doesn't work on SSRS report on SharePoint? FYI - all properties to SQL linked server and report data-source are set to default values.
    Any idea? like SharePoint do some-sort of caching report data-source or any other hints where things going wrong? Thanks.

    Hi KM,
    Thanks for your post.
    It seems a little strange. Do you mean the reports is working fine with parameter change behavior in report design tool(Visual Studio 2008), however, when you publish this report from design tool to Reporting services SharePoint site, it works with only
    default parameter values, once you change the parameter value, you would encounte the error “can't execute main SQL procedure Oracle package to linked server”? If so, I would suggest you to create a SQL Agent job  on your SQL Server engine to timely synchronous
    data from Oracle database to SQL Server Database, and then you can create report to retrieve the relevant data from SQL Server table objects.

    Hi,
    According to your post, an error occurred when you integrate SQL Server Reporting Services with SharePoint.
    1. Please check the steps as the link below:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff724283(v=office.14).aspx
    2. Try to clean the configuration cache on all of your SharePoint servers and re-tested.

  • How to genetare reports(ssrs) with form library's data in sharepoint 2010

    Hi,
    How to genetare reports (ssrs) with form library's data in sharepoint 2010.I am saving infopath(2010) xml form data in form library.I have 500 and more forms in the form library( more forms can come in future).How to generate reports from this xml data (i
    want to make it automate)? Reports should get updated automatically when any changes made to data and if new form entered in the library.
    Please suggest possible solutions.I can not go for code base solution.( somthing SSIS, BCS or web service ....etc or anything else will be fine)
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to generate SSRS report with form library in SharePoint 2010.
     In order to use the data stored on the InfoPath form, you need to add the controls on the form to be columns in SharePoint(This is the OOTB way without code).
    You can add the control during the publish process:
    Then when you create the SSRS report using the form library as the data source, you can use the fields just as the fields created in SharePoint.
    There is a tool called InfoPath DB in codeplex, you can have a look at it.
    http://infopathdb.codeplex.com/

  • Create subscriptions for Powerview reports like SSRS reports in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
    I have created the power view reports in SharePoint 2010 and now I want to create an email subscription for Powerview reports like SSRS reports in SharePoint 2010. Is it possible? If not, is there any workaround?

    Hi Suresh:
    Unfortunately, you can't setup subscriptions in PowerView like you can on SSRS. I would suggest you to open up a connect item here and request for this feature - http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer

  • Issue with connection SSRS reportviewer control to SSRS 2012 integrated with SharePoint 2010...

    Hi,
    I have a .NET application that uses SSRS ReportViewer 2012 control to render reports deployed on SSRS 2012 integrated with SharePoint 2010. I am getting error "the report execution '' has expired or not found". The same code works when I connect
    to SSRS 2008 R2 integrated with SharePoint 2007. I investigated the issue and it seems the JavaScript that pings the SSRS server before it expires is missing from rendered HTML.
    Let me know if there is a way to fix this issue.
    following is the code:
    ASPX:
    <formid="form1"runat="server">
    <rsweb:ReportViewerAsyncRendering="true"
    KeepSessionAlive="true"ID="test"runat="server"></rsweb:ReportViewer>
    <asp:scriptmanagerrunat="server"></asp:scriptmanager>

    this.Session.Clear();
            test.Reset();
            test.ProcessingMode =
    ProcessingMode.Remote;
            test.KeepSessionAlive =

            test.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl =
    newSystem.Uri("https://webappname/_vti_bin/reportserver/");
            test.ServerReport.ReportPath =
    https://webappname/RS_Reports/REportEngineTest.rdl;
    ReportServerCredentialscred =

  • Consuming SharePoint 2010 Lists Data in the SSRS 2008 R2 Reports

    When I am trying to create a report using SharePoint 2010 List I am getting error.
    Firstly I opened SQL BI Development Studio, then created Shared DataSource then created Report.
    Then from Report Data pane created Data Source and all was Ok
    But when I am creating DataSet for the SharePoint 2010 List and when clicking on Query Builder and running the query I am getting following error:
    "Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown".
    Now what should I do next to connect my SharePoint List.

    What's your SOAP call look like for the webservice?
