SSRS Issue
Hi All,
I have installed SSRS 2008 SP1 on my windows server 2008 R2 SP1 standard edition. When I try to load a report then I get 503 service unavailable on my report manager and below are the errors

Hello,
Is still issue exists? Seems SSRS configuration went wrong during the initial setup.

I've inherited a bit of a security issue and would appreciate any insight.
The bottom line is that I have a user than can run one report from folder "X", but not the report next to it.
Here is the problem context. The names are changed to protect the innocent. Sharepoint is not involved.
The SSRS Home Folder has Security "Group or User" of "DomainX\SSRS_Browsers" with Role(s) "Browser"
"SSRS_Browsers" is an AD group. The user with the issue (DomainX\UnhappyUser) is a member of this group.
The user is able to navigate to folder "X" (one level below Home) and run Report "A" successfully. But, when they try to run report "B", they get:
"An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) The permissions granted to user "DomainX\UnhappyUser" are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)
The difference between report "A" that works, and report "B" that doesn't is that report "B" references a data set from a different data source.
Both reports reference DataSource1. The failing report additionally references DataSource2. The SSRS logs confirm this is where the problem is:
ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user 'DomainX\UnhappyUser' are insufficient for performing this operation.;
processing!ReportServer_0-34!c58!07/16/2014-16:45:41:: e ERROR: An exception has occurred in data set 'DataSource2'. blah blah blah
Both data sources have "stored" credentials with the same AD user: "DomainX\SSRS_Reports". Both data sources reference the same instance of SQL Server. They do have different "Initial Catalog" values. (DatabaseA
and DatabaseB). I can run both reports successfully, but I more authority.
"SSRS_Reports" is defined as a "Login" user under "Security" in SSMS at the instance level. The Server Role is "public".
DatabaseA (which is behind the data source that works) has Security->Users->DomainX\DataBaseA_Readers. This is an AD group, that includes has "SSRS_Reports" as a member.
DataBaseA_readers (in SQL Server, at the DatabaseA level) is a member of role db_datareader.
DataBaseB (which is behind the data source that fails) has Security->Users->DomainX\DataBaseB_Readers. This is also an AD group, that includes "SSRS_Reports" as a member.
DataBaseA_readers (in SQL Server, at the DatabaseB level) is a member of role db_datareader.
Does anyone have any insights as to where my problem may be?
Thank you. Sorry for the verbosity.Hi Steve,
After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it. The Home Folder has Security for "DomainX\SSRS_Browsers" group with "Browser" Role, the folder “X” and Report “A” security is inherited from its parent item, but the Report “B” Item security
is not inherited from its parent item. In this way, the DomainX\UnhappyUser has insufficient permission to render the Report “B”.
So, please try to check the Security page of Report “B” and compare it with Report “A” security settings. If possible, we can click “Revert to Parent Security” button to replace all the defined security settings with the security settings of its parent folder
”X”.
Hope this helps.

SQL Server std 2008 R2 SP2 upgrade to 2014 std fails, SSRS issue?
I’m trying to make an in place upgrade from 2008 r2 sp2 to sql 2012. With old installation everything (including Reporting Services) works fine, there is only one instance named MSSQLSERVER and all stuff is on one server, ssrs is native mode, compatibility
level of databases is 100.
When I start upgrade process al things go fine till “Feature Rules” where “No Custom Rendering Extensions” fails (it says “The Report Server has some custom rendering extensions configured”). Into Windows Application Log appears the following “Report Server
(MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database” and installation stops. We have not installed any extensions as far as I know. I’ve done some tweaking with RSReportServer.config but without success.
Any good advice?
PekkaHello,
Please verify you don’t have extension elements added on the RSReportDesigner.config file too.
Use the following article to remove any possible rendering extensions:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152821(v=sql.105).aspx
Hope this helps.

SSRS reports are not fitting properly in Report Viewer Control
Hi All,
We are using Report Viewer Control to render SSRS reports & show it on SharePoint web page. In .aspx page we are putting Report Viewer Control as follows:
The zoom percent of Report we are getting from Report Server is 100%. We are making it as 50% to show it on our page. On one page, we are showing 2 reports.
<rsweb:ReportViewer ID="rpv2Chart1" runat="server" Font-Names="Verdana" Font-Size="8pt" ProcessingMode="Remote" Height="211px" Width="813px" ZoomPercent="50"></rsweb:ReportViewer >
The reports are coming. But the reports which we are getting inside the control are not readable & 25% of Report Viewer Control on our right hand side is blank.
As you can see it's not readable. For readability we want to use that white space also & want to utilize full controls's space. But if we try to increase percentage from our report viewer tag, then the graph is zooming in with both, height & width
so it's going out of control.
Client don't want scroll bars on Report Viewer control. We just want to utilize the entire Report Viewer Control space.
Can anyone suggest us how to do that?
Thanks,
SanjayHi Sanjay,
I'm afraid that it is not the correct forum for this issue.
If it is the SSRS issue, you could post this issue here:

If it is the VS report control issue, maybe you would get better response here:

Project Server 2013 - SSRS reports don't display icons
We have an SSRS report that works fine in Visual Studio. It works fine in the PWA reporting document library for test. However, when we put it into production, we are getting an issue where the SSRS icons/images and the report icons for the parameter drop
down do not display. The image inserted is of the top header of the report where everything is a dot and should be the "refresh" and left arrow/right arrow icons from the web page and the parameters and "collapse" icons that display
the red x.
CollinHi Collin,
This is more of a SharePoint / SSRS issue rather than Project Server. It could be a permission issue. Or even an access issue - may be you have an alternate access mapping etc.
It might be worth posting this query on one of the forums below:

Hi,
We have a simple report like the following left side, because we use group by in query, now the empty rows will not show in report.
Is there any way we can show all empty items from column B as the snapshot right side? Thank you.
select columnA, columnB, sum(total1) as Total
from mytable
group by columnA, columnBThat's not so much an SSRS issue as it is a SQL issue. It can be tough getting SSRS to display data that doesn't exist.
You may be able to get it to work using a Matrix but my personal preference is to handle it in the SQL code itself. Something like the following should work for you...
CREATE TABLE #temp (
ColA CHAR(2),
ColB CHAR(2),
Amt INT
INSERT #temp (ColA,ColB,Amt) VALUES
('A1','B1',10),
('A1','B1',10),
('A1','B2',25),
('A1','B2',5),
('A1','B3',10),
('A2','B1',20)
-- SELECT * FROM #temp
SELECT
t0.ColA,
t0.ColB,
SUM(COALESCE(t.Amt, 0)) AS Total
FROM
#temp t
FULL JOIN (
SELECT
t1.ColA,
t2.ColB
FROM (
SELECT DISTINCT t1.ColA
FROM #temp t1
) t1
CROSS JOIN (
SELECT DISTINCT t2.ColB
FROM #temp t2
) t2
) t0
ON t.ColA = t0.ColA
AND t.ColB = t0.ColB
GROUP BY
t0.ColA,
t0.ColB
ORDER BY
t0.ColA,
t0.ColB

Access Web Databases and SSRS
Issue:
After creating an access web database, such as Contacts Web Database in SharePoint 2010 we receive the following error when trying reports. This only happens on the Address Book, Phone Book, and Contact List reports. The Contact
Details and Printable Labels reports both work. The reports do not begin to error until data is added to the database (no errors initially).
I have duplicated this across all of our environments with the same results and get similar results when adding a Projects Web Database.

The reason was suggested “The SSRS service account was changed” Due to this tfs/report portal couldn’t be accessible. There is workaround suggested by Microsoft
and that was applied. Suggestion was “deleted the encryption key and created new one. " After this I was able to access reporting Services URL, but after that I got another error

I feel this is due to SSRS issue which running on TFS2013 itself
I have tired to create test team project collection but for days it is like "creating "Hi EpsithaJ,
Based on my understanding, after changing service account, you come across a permission issue when accessing the Reporting Service.
In Reporting Service, service account should be specified as built-in account , local Windows account or domain user account to run Reporting Service. Initially, only users who are members of the local administrators group can access a report server. Reporting
Services is installed with two default role assignments that grant item-level and system-level access to members of the local administrators group. These built-in role assignments local Administrators to grant report server access to other users and manage
report server items.
So in your scenario, please make sure the new service account is a built-in account or local Windows user account/domain user account within local administrators group. Also please check Reporting Service has been logged on as the new service account(See
screenshot below). Then on database side, make sure the login has permissions to host the report server database on the SQL Server Database Engine instance. The new account should be granted public and RSExecRole roles for the ReportServer database, RSExecRole
role for the master, msdb, and ReportServerTempDB databases. After that, if you can access report manager, please check if the new service account has been assigned a proper system-level role and item-level role.

Service Account (SSRS Native Mode)
Granting Permissions on a Native Mode Report Server
Configure the Report Server Service Account (SSRS Configuration Manager)

Web reports browser requirements
I have a question about viewing web reports. I will try to keep this focused on IE in particular.
I can view reports fine on my computer. I have Windows 8.1 and IE 11. When i run reports on my computer I can see the full report.
On a Windows 7 machine with IE11 i click "view report" and it only shows "loading". The report never runs.
A coworker of mine has the same permissions in SCCM and to reports, and on his Windows 8.1 with IE11 he runs a report and only the left 1/2 of the report shows.
I have been trying to compare browswer configurations but I can not find our issue. Can anyone tell me what all needs to be installed and configured for web reports to properly run through IE? I have tried to find documentation and have had no
luck.
Thank you in advance for the suggestions and help.On the broken computer....all you can see is from Vendor column and to the left. Everything to the right is a blank white page. As if that half did not even load.
This will be an SSRS issue and not a CM12 issue. You will have better luck post your question in a SQL SSRS forum

Creating a progress bar while querying a report in Visual Studio
I have created a Visual Studio 2013 program that runs reports from a SQL server. I want a progress bar to show up in my VS program while it is querying so my user doesn't think that it is frozen while running larger queries. How can I do this.
Step by step is better since I am new to programming.
Gracies
Much LoveHi flextera,
Based on your description, I’m afraid that it is not the correct forum for this issue, since this forum is to discuss:
Visual Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor.
To make this issue clearly, would you mind letting us know more information about this issue? Which language are you using? Which kind of app are you developing? You said that it is related to the report in SQL Server, is it the SSRS issue or the specific
windows app like the WinForms app?
Please share me more information, I will help you find the correct forum for this issues.
If there's any concern, please feel free to let me know.

SSRS : Reporting Services - Multi-Value Parameter Issue
Hi,
This problem is been around the blogs and forums for while now but may be it's not answered to the fullest. I couldn't get any satisfactory or completed solution on the issue so far, any clues/help will be highly appreciated.
My scenario is very simple :-
I am using SQL Server 2005 and SSRS. I need to develop a report which has a parameter value called Customer Name. The users should be able to select multiple customers from the list and sometimes Select All also. I tried the following :-
Created two data sets : Second dataset is just to populate the Customer Name
Created a Report Parameter and mapped with the query parameter where it says "Where CName in (@Parameter1)"
Nothing seems to be working although I tried to apply all the existing half-way solutions currently available in the forums. May be I am not getting to the right solution.
Here is what's happening :-
When used '?' like "where CName = ?" then it's working fine for the single value. {Multi value query cannot be used with ?}
But for multiple values when used @Parameter1 like "where CName in (@Parameter1)" it's giving the following error
Cannot add multi value query parameter '@Parameter1' for data set 'Dataset1' because it is not supported by the data extension.
However if commented this line it's pulling all the values whether or not selected from the parameter list.
This is the basic thing which I was not able to get the desired result, in addition I was looking to get the Customer Name parameter selected with a partial entry as we use LIKE. Example :- If the user enters 'St' in the text box the list should show all the names starting from those two letters
Starter
Steve
Steven
Stevenson etc.
I am not sure whether I'll will be able to get to this extent or not but until the multi value parameter, I am desperate to get the solution. So any sort of help/advise is highly appreciated.

Issue in SSRS report
I have a table format report, in SSRS when i try to export i should get 10 rows per sheet.
I try to change the page limit and break option but the result doesn’t get splitted
Can you please any one helpsHi
This can be done at the reporting level. Below link will help you solve this.
http://www.wiseowl.co.uk/blog/s257/ssrs-rows-per-page-pt2.htm
When you have multiple pages, your header may disappear. So below link will help you to have the header repeating in each page.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/19398.ssrs-how-to-repeat-headers-on-each-page.aspx
Let me know how it goes.

Strange performance issue in SSRS SharePoint integrated / Kerberos
Hi,
current setup / situation:
Four server farm for a BI Portal:
SQL Server instances
SSAS instances
SharePoint apps (SSRS, Central Admin ...)
SharePoint frontend
Three different environments (Dev, Test, Prod) with the same configuration (servers, versions, CPU/RAM,...)
Kerberos properly configured (as far as we can see) pushing the current user credentials forward from the SharePoint frontend to the SSRS integrated service app to the SSAS OLAP cube.
Problem:
When we connect the report on dev to the dev cube, report execution time is about 7 seconds. In the execution log we can see in the additional info field, that we have a ConnectionOpenTime of a couple of milliseconds (~ 20-40).
When we connect the report on test to the test cube OR to the dev cube OR the dev report to the test cube, we have runtimes of about 60 seconds with ConnectionOpenTime of a Little bit more than 2000 ms.
When we change the data source connection to a fixed Windows account, the runtime drops down to about 7 seconds. When we switch back to "Use current user credentials" the runtime stays at the 7 seconds for about 1-2 hours, then in drops back to
60 seconds.
Question:
What can cause this huge ConnectionOpenTime? Is it AD/DNS related? Claims To Windows Token Service? Any other caching/OS issue?
Thanks for any input.

RainerHi Rainer,
The issue is little complex. I suggest that you could try to narrow down the issue deeper with below steps:
1. Enable the verbose log on Sharepoint side.
2. Capturing the SQL Server profiler trace on both test(slow) and dev(fast) environment.
3. The same, RS exectionlog3 table
Then reproduce the issue on both fast and slow environment, we need to compare both the Sharepoint ULS log and RS exection log to find out the slowness part.
Could you please follow the below article for how to narrow down the issue with all logs?
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/psssql/archive/2013/07/29/tracking-down-power-view-performance-problems.aspx
Since you have found out the slowness is at ConnectionOpenTime , so we should focus on the Sharepoint frontend and SQL Server reporting service side. The ConnectionOpenTime should not reach the SSAS instance.

Hello All,
After the server migration (old-new are identical servers in all aspects including HardWare) the SSRS subscriptions are having issues.
1. They will run as scheduled but mails are delivered late.
2. They ran on weekends even though it was not scheduled and not triggered from team.
3. Job history is not getting updated when subscription run on weekend.
Workarounds We Did but not solved:
1. SQL Services restarted.
2. SSRS restarted.
3. Manually tested the Subscriptions.
Please advise.
Regards, Pradyothana DP. Please Mark This As Helpful if it helps to solve your issue. ========================================================== http://www.dbainhouse.blogspot.in/Hi Pradyothana,
According to your description, the subscription doesn’t work fine when you migrate it from old server to a new server.
In your scenario, please use code below to find the corresponding job of the subscription, then check if the schedule both in the subscription and the job is the same.
use ReportServer;
Go
SELECT
c.Name AS ReportName
, rs.ScheduleID AS JOB_NAME
, s.[Description]
, s.LastStatus
, s.LastRunTime
FROM
ReportServer..[Catalog] c
JOIN ReportServer..Subscriptions s ON c.ItemID = s.Report_OID
JOIN ReportServer..ReportSchedule rs ON c.ItemID = rs.ReportID
AND rs.SubscriptionID = s.SubscriptionID
Besides, since you mentioned the email will be delivered on weekends though it hasn’t been scheduled, you could use Reporting Services trace Log File to find which schedule deliveries this report. Please refer to this article:
Troubleshooting Subscriptions: Part II, Using the Reporting Services Trace Log File .
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
Best regards,
