SSRS pulls data from ESSBASE cube, data not showing

Dear Experts,
We are connecting SSRS 2012 to Essbase 11.1.3 to pull data from the cube, and having some issues with some members data not showing in the query designer and report, while some have no problem. And we couldn't find a pattern on which members won't show. We are wondering if this is a known issue and if there is a way to solve the problem.

Check the following:-
1 Check whether you have made the joins properly.
2 Check data at multiprovider level .
3 is data available for reporting in both the cubes

We try extract data using a sample cube and work fine, this is the mdx query:

You will be able to test the MDX query in EAS, it is usually best to test the query first before trying to use it in ODI.
Is there any reason you are using MDX to extract the data, have you tried reportscript as I usually find it more efficient to extract the data.

Data from one cube is not coming in the multiprovider

Hi,
I have two cubes with a common characterstic.
I created multiprovider above these two cubes. But data is not coming from the cube 2. The values from cube 2 are showing as 0.
Can anyone help me out in this?

Hard disk crashed, restored data from tape backup, Firefox not showing bookmarks. What is the location of bookmarks & favourites to ensure I have restored the correct file?

Hard disk crashed (XP), restored files from tape backup using Retrospect onto new Windows 7 laptop. Started up Mozilla after restore but bookmarks and favourites are missing.
I still have access to the backup tape and files. I was wondering whether the bookmarks are kept anywhere special other than the Mozilla program file that I restored.

Extracting data from Essbase into Workspace

Hi All,
Need suggestions/ideas. I want to create a workspace job or Essbase calc or Calc rule (Anything that can be run by user from workspace or Smartview) which will extract data from Essbase cube and give csv to user in local drive or on workspace. I know there can be a way to do this by using ftp etc.. but want to check if there is any simpler way.
Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated. Not looking for using any external tools or anything other than Workspace/Essbase/Planning.

I totally agree with JohnGoodwin and TimG , it is indeed not a smooth and perfect way to provide data. Trying hard to push to use Smart view or may be Financial report for this, but just checking other possible ways in case users don't want to use any

Extract Data from essbase to ODI

I'm trying to extract data from Essbase cube to Oracle . Reverse engineering successfully completed , When running the interface I'm getting the following error :
"com.hyperion.odi.essbase.ODIEssbaseException: com.hyperion.odi.essbase.ODIEssbaseException: No data column defined in source model"
i'm using the following KM
:RKM Hyperion Essbase --> For Reverse Engineer ,and the option in the reverse engineering are all set to default

Urgent How can I pull data from Essbase into BW 3.5

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me the extraction mechanism to extract data from Essbase (Hyperion Sales cube) into BW 3.5. Is it possible to extract data using DB connect. As far as I know it cannot be used for BW 3.1C but what about 3.5. Any links or information is greatly appreciated.

I got an error when writeback Budget data from Essbase to Oracle that: The number of columns returned by script [14] is less than the source data columns exposed [15] while my returned columns from script is 15

How to make data in Essbase cube equal to data in DW when drilling through

Is there standard ways in Oracle BI + Essbase to make data in Essbase cube and DW equal (corresponding)?
For example when we are drilling down from cube to DW in this moment in DW may be loaded additional data (new data) which are not loaded in the cube yet.
So we have situation where data in the cube not correspond to data in the DW.

I think rebuilding the cube on a more frequent basis not solves the problem – there will be significant time between the moment when data loaded in DW and when data updated in the cube.
I thought of creating 2 tables in DW (“new” and “old”) and 2 cubes (“new” and “old”).
So the process of loading data will look like this:
1. We have corresponding data in table “old” and cube “old”. User always works with “old” objects.
2. Load data to table “new”.
3. Load data to cube “new” from table “new”.
4. Rename tables and cubes: “old” to “new”, “new” to “old”. Here users starting to work with updated cube and table.
5. Add new changes go cube and table “new” (there will be old data).
6. Go to step 2.
But this way is too expensive (storage amount doubles).
And maybe easier way can be found?...

Data from two cubes to display in same grid - Actual/planned comparison

I want to show planned and actual data in the same grid. For example,
qty-2011001 qty-2011002 qty-2011012
actual plan actual plan actual plan
Here quantity is shown for fiscal year periods. For each fiscal year period actual and planned quantity should be shown in adjacent columns in bex analyzer. But in my model actual and planned data are in two different cubes. So how can I show in the same grid.
I thought of creating a multiprovider or infoset and by combining them we can pull data from both of them to show in the same grid. But it resulted in errors.
I was wondering if there are any interesting workaround for this.

Hi,
this is a standard requirement and very easy to model. To key figures (actual and plan) are not need.
1. Create a cube for actuals A and one for plan data P. Both contain the same key figure.
2. Create a multiprovider with both cubes and use the default mapping for key figures and characteristics
3. Create an aggregation level on top of the multiprovider with the characteristics and key figures you need
4. Create a query with two restricted key figures, e.g.
Quan actual: restrict by 0INFOPROV = A
Quan plan: restrict by 0INFOPROV = P, make this element input-ready.
Drill-down 0FISCPER on columns.

CalcScript for EXRACTION_QUERY_TYPE. CalcScript in my case resides on Essbase App directory, so I
just specify the name (i.e. FULLEXP) for EXTRACTION_QUERY_FILE. Before creating ODI interface
I ran CalcScript successfully from EAS. Also, ODI and Essbase are on different servers. ODI Agent
is not running on Essbase Server, but ODI Agent has access to file generated by CalcScript.
EPM Fusion Version 11.1.2.2. Essbase running in LINUX and ODI 11g running on Windows Server.
Created the ODI interface where source is my Planning Cube and target is a relational table using SYNOPSIS
MEMORY Engine for staging area. I make it thru the following ODI interface steps OK:
1 - Loading - SrcSet0 - Drop work table
2 - Loading - SrcSet0 - Create work table
3 - Loading - SrcSet0 - Begin Essbase Data Extract.
I then fail at:
4 - Loading - SrcSet0 - Extract Data

Extract data from Essbase - MDX/Report Script

Hi,
I was trying to extract data from an ASO cube using both MDX and Report Script approaches.
I liked the MDX_ method since i could specify:
- level zero members with values for the Revenue measure.

NON EMPTY {[Accounts2].Levels(0).Members} on AXIS(2),
NON EMPTY {[Accounts3].Levels(0).Members} on AXIS(3),

Problem:_ For other measure, it shows many #Missing at Cost measure field. Not sure how it happened. I tried to use:

NON EMPTY{ FILTER ([Accounts].Levels(0).Members}, [Revenue] <> Missing) on AXIS(1),
NON EMPTY {[Accounts2].Levels(0).Members} on AXIS(2)

But still does not solve the issue.
Then i tried to use Report Script_ approach. However, it is not simple to declare that i want all level zero members within dimension Account1 (which has 5 level hierarchy, with level zero members almost each level) and only entries that has values for my measure "Revenue" or "Cost"

For extracting data from Essbase you need to have either Calc script or Report script and you have to use LKM Essbase(Data) to SQL as your KM
For loading data into SQL server you can use IKM SQL Append or IKM SQL incremental update.
When you use Essbase as your source you have to use LKM ESSBASE (MetaData) to SQL as your KM.
So all sources would have LKMs (as KMs) and all targets have IKM as KMs.

Think in this way,
To load the data fro any source we need datasource Ok. You can genare Export data source for Cube in APO, then use that datasource for BW extraction, try like this. I think it will work, in my case I'm directly loading data from APO to BW using the DataSource sthat are genaraed on Planning Area.
Why you need to take data from APO cube?. Is there any condition for that?. If it is not mandatory, you can use the dame datasource and load the data to BW, if they have any conditions while loading the data from APO to APO cube, they you try check wherther it is possible in BW or not. If possible then you use DataSource and do the same calculation in BW directly.

Automatically trigger the event to load data from Planning cube to Standard Cube

Hello,
We have a below set up in our system..
1. A Planning BEx query using which user makes certain entries and writes back data to the planning cube.
2. An actual reporting cube which gets data from the planning cube above.
Now, what we want to do is to automate the data load from Planning cube to Reporting cube.
This involves 2 things..
1. Change the setting " Change real time load behaviour " of the planing cube to Planning.
2. Trigger the DTP which loads data from Planning cube to reporting cube.
We want to automate the above two steps...
I have tried few things to achieve the same..
1. Created an event in SM64,
2. In the Planning cube "Manage" Screen, clicked on "Subsequent Processing" and provided the event details. ( Not sure if its the correct place to provide the event detail ).
3. Wrote a ABAP program which changes the setting of the planning cube ( " Change real time load behaviour " to Loading )
4. Created a process chain, where we have used the event as a start variant, used the ABAP program as a next step, DTP run as the last step..
This i hoped, would trigger the event as soon as a new request comes and sits in planning cube, which in turn would trigger the process chain which would load the data from Planning cube to reporting cube..
This is not working. I dont think the event is triggering, and even if does i am not sure whether it will start the process chain automatically. Any ideas please ?

Move data from one cube to another cube

Hi,
I am on BW 3.5 and I have moved the data from one cube to another cube and found that the number of records in the original cube does not match to the newly created cube. for eg. if the original cube contains 8,549 records then the back up cube contains 7,379 records.
Please help me on what I need to look on and if in case the records are getting aggregated then how do I check the aggregating record.

Dear tyson m ,
check with any update rules in ur transfer.If so check in it.
Just go through these methods for making transfer from one cube to another cube fully without missing data.
Update rules method
if it's updated from ods, you can create update rules for cube2 and update from ods
or you can try datamart scenario
cube1 right click 'generate export datasource'
create update rules for cube2, assign with cube1
rsa1->source system->bw myself, right click 'replicate datasource'
rsa1-> infosource -> search 8cube1 name
(if not get, try right click root note 'infosource'->insert lost node(s)
from that infosource, you will find assigned with datasource, right click and 'create infopackage', schedule and run.
Copy from
While creating the new cube give the cube name in the "Copy from" section. It would copy all the characteristics and Key figures. It would even copy the dimensions and Navigational attributes
Another option is:
The steps for copying the contents of one cube to another:
1. Go to Manage -> Recontruct of the new cube.
2. Select the "selection button"(red , yellow, blue diamond button).
3.In the selection screen you can give the technical name of the old cube, requests ids you want to load, from & to date.
4.Execute and the new cube would be loaded.
Its all that easy!!!!!!
