SSRS Report Deployment

Hi All,
Could you please me on below query...!
I am getting the below error SSRS 2008 report deployment problem when I do deploy.
Error: The permissions granted to user 'Surya-PC\Surya' are insufficient for performing this operation.
I've configured correctly in configuration manager but I don't understand where is the problem.
TargetServerURL: http://servername/reportserver

Hi SP36,
If we installed Business Intelligence Development Studio on Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, we should right-click Business Intelligence Development Studio to Run it as Administrator when we want to deploy reports to Report Server.
Besides, before you can publish a report, you must have permission to do so. Permission is determined through role-based security that is defined by your report server administrator. Publishing operations are typically granted through the Publisher role.
So please ensure that you have permission to deploy reports to Report Server.

  • Pre-Purchase Question - Deploying Crystal Report to SSRS Report Server

    Our company has recently installed a SQL 2005 server for our accounting system.  I had intended going down the path of using SQL Reporting Services as our reporting tool and deploying them to the builtin Report Server.  However, I've been using Crystal Reports for years and find it much more user friendly for a non-programmer to use.  I can actually write a report in Crystal, SSRS took me 3 days to achieve very little, I believe it requires too much SQL reporting knowledge for a beginner.
    After spending many hours trawling the net looking for a solution to this problem, I found that Crystal comes as part of Visual Studio.  However, I also believe the version of Visual Studio that comes with SQL2005 is the basic version, and I'd need the Pro version to get the Crystal add on.
    To this end, I've downloaded the trial version of Crystal 2008 and installed it.  I find I can write a report in Crystal, and then I can manually add that report to a SSRS project. When I open the Crystal Report within Visual Studio I can see all the correct Crystal toolbars and menus etc, so it would appear that the installation of Crystal for Visual Studio has integrated properly.  I can then deploy that report to the Report server and see the report on the web page.  However clicking to open the report then opens the full Crystal Reports application, instead of just displaying the report in the web page.
    I've been unsuccessful in finding a solution to the above deployment problem.  I'm seeking a solution so that my users can just see the report without Crystal itself opening up.  I've been advised that there is a Crystal Report Server that I can purchase, but I don't wish to go to that expense when we already have this functionality built into our SSRS server.
    Can you please advise if it's possible to deploy the Crystal report to the SSRS Report Server and then open the report within the web page without opening the full Crystal app, and if so what steps I would need to take to implement this.
    If this issue can be resolved, I'll be more than happy to purchase the full Crystal 2008 package and forget SSRS as a bad idea.
    Sorry to be so long winded, I wanted to be clear what the issue is.  Any information /advice would be very much appreciated.

    Hello Diane,
    I would not know if Crystal Report can be used with SSRS but I know for sure that you can use the embedded Crystal Reports Version with comes with VS 2005 or VS 2008 to create reports and to display them in web and windows application.
    We have lots of samples how to do this in our [dev community|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/].
    Also, you can use [Crystal Reports 2008|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/developer/library/CR2008SDK] with MS SQL 2005.
    Other products like Crystal Reports server can also use MS SQL 2005.
    Please see our [supported platforms for CR 2008|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000712280&_OBJECT=011000358700000675322008E] on windows.
    Hope this helps

  • Deploying SSRS Reports to SharePoint 2013 Result in Error

    We are trying to deploy SSRS reports developed in VS 2012 to SharePoint 2013.  Whenever any user deploys the report, they receive the following error.
    Error 1
    Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error. --->
    Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.SharePointException: Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error. --->
    Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The list item could not be added or updated because duplicate values were found in one or more fields in the list. --->
    System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: The list item could not be added or updated because duplicate values were found in one or more fields in the list.
    Has anyone received this error and know of a solution?
    Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi jbud55,
    According to your description, my understanding is that there is an error when you deployed SSRS via to SharePoint 2013.
    This error displays that there is a column that does not allow duplicate value in the list. So, please check the list columns.
    In addition, as this issue related to SSRS, you can also create a new thread on SQL Reporting Serivces forum, more experts will assist you with SSRS.

  • How to Deploy SSRS Reports(Sql Server 2008 R2) into Oracle Weblogic Application Server

    Hi Friends
    One of my project requirement is Developing reports by using SSRS and deploying the reports into Oracle Wblogic Server
    Could you please give me a Steps where we need to configure.
    Regards
    Hasthi.

    Hi Hasthi,
    As per my understanding, I think we couldn’t directly deploy the SSRS report to Oracle Weblogic Application Server. We can deploy report to report server and SharePoint library. And we can display report to some applications, for example, windows application
    and web application. Sorry for that I am not familiar with Oracle. So if your Oracle Weblogic Application Server support those Visual Studio application, then we can use report viewer control to display report in application. For more detail information about
    report viewer control, please refer to the following document:

    Hope this helps.

  • Ssrs report web service to save report as pdf throws error Soap exception unhandeled by user code

    I am creating a C# web application to save  an SSRS report as a pdf file on my local machine.
    I added the ReportService web reference as RS2005 and ReportExecution2005 web reference as RE2005.
    http://myServer/ReportServer_DEVPROJECT/ReportExecution2005.asmx?WSDL
    http://myServer/ReportServer_DEVPROJECT/ReportService2005.asmx?WSDL
    I created the following function SaveReport that is called on button click. My report can be accessed on the report server with the following url:
    http://myServer/Reports_DEVPROJECT/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fData+Mgmt%2fSample+Letter
    On the Report Manager home page the report link appears as "SAMPLE LETTER".
    It is deployed in the DataMgmt folder on the Report Manager.
    It uses a data source called "DS Letter" with option "Credentials stored securely in the report server"
    My application gets compiled, but I get the following run time error:
    Error: Soap exception unhandeled by user code. The item '/DataMgmt/Sample Letter' cannot be found. ---> Microsoft.ReportingService

    Hello Devster,
    Thank you to post your question on TechNet forum.
    After reviewing the whole post, I have a question to you. You can access the report via the link, http://myServer/Reports_DEVPROJECT/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fData+Mgmt%2fSample+Letter.
    From the URL, I can see that the report is located at: /Data Mgmt/Sample Letter, instead of /DataMgmt/Sample Letter. In addition, I found that the target report is "/DataMgmt/Sample HAP Letter" instead of "/DataMgmt/Sample Letter" as the error described. I
    am not sure whether you post out the correct code segment.
    Please check the above things on your side, and hope it is helpful to you.

  • Generate SSRS Report and save as PDF in SharePoint

    Hi,
    I am working on a SharePoint 2010 Visual WebPart that lets a user click a button to generata a SSRS report and save the report in a SharePoint Library as a PDF file.  Code is mentioned below:
    try
    string siteContext = SPContext.Current.Web.Url;
    string strReport = siteContext + "/Reports/Quote/Quote.rdl";
    WR_SSRS.ReportExecutionService rs = new WR_SSRS.ReportExecutionService();
    rs.Url = siteContext + "/_vti_bin/ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx";
    rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
    byte[] result;
    string format = "PDF";
    string historyID = null;
    string devInfo = "<DeviceInfo><Toolbar>False</Toolbar></DeviceInfo>";
    WR_SSRS.ParameterValue[] parameters = new WR_SSRS.ParameterValue[3];
    parameters[0] = new WR_SSRS.ParameterValue();
    parameters[0].Name = "EnqID";
    parameters[0].Value = enqID.ToString();
    parameters[1] = new WR_SSRS.ParameterValue();
    parameters[1].Name = "QuotationID";
    parameters[1].Value = quoteID;
    WR_SSRS.DataSourceCredentials[] credentials = null;
    string showHideToggle;
    string encoding;
    string mimeType;
    WR_SSRS.Warning[] warnings;
    WR_SSRS.ParameterValue[] reportHistoryParameters;
    string[] streamIDs;
    WR_SSRS.ExecutionInfo execInfo = new WR_SSRS.ExecutionInfo();
    WR_SSRS.ExecutionHeader execHeader = new WR_SSRS.ExecutionHeader();
    string SessionId = null;
    string extension;
    rs.ExecutionHeaderValue = execHeader;
    execInfo = rs.LoadReport(strReport, historyID);
    rs.SetExecutionParameters(parameters, "en-gb");
    SessionId = rs.ExecutionHeaderValue.ExecutionID;
    result = rs.Render(format, devInfo, out extension, out mimeType, out encoding, out warnings, out streamIDs);
    execInfo = rs.GetExecutionInfo();
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.ID))
    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    SPFolder folder = web.Folders[siteContext + "/Quotes"];
    string filename = string.Concat(quoteID, ".pdf");
    //remove old copies
    SPList lib = web.Lists["Quotes"];
    foreach (SPListItem i in lib.GetItems())
    if (i.Name == filename)
    i.Delete();
    break;
    SPFile file = folder.Files.Add(filename, result);
    SPListItem item = file.Item;
    item["EnquiryID"] = enqID.ToString();
    item["FinalQuote"] = "No";
    item.Update();
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    catch (Exception ex)
    LogError(ex.Message);
    The WebPart works fine in my local server and even on another development testing server.  However, once deployed to the live server that has claims authentication it stops working and throws an error that says:
    "Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
    The request failed with the error message:
    <RSError xmlns="http://www.microsoft.com/sql/reportingservices"><MoreInformation><Message>An unknown error occurred with the Reporting Services endpoint on this SharePoint site. Contact the SharePoint site administrator for help.</Message></MoreInformation></RSError>
    If I open the report manually in SharePoint Site, it works fines it even works fine when try to view in a WebPart.
    Can someone help me with this ?
    Regards, Vikram

    Hi Vicky,
    Based on the error message, it is related to the service account for reporting service.
    If the Report Server service runs under a built-in account such as NetworkService, the Grant database access option in SharePoint Central Administration will not work correctly.
    Configure the service account to run under a domain user account as follows:
    1. Start the Reporting Services Configuration tool and connect to the report server.
    2. On the Service Account page, click Use another account, enter a domain user account, and click Apply.
    3. Click Web Service Identity, for Report Server, click New, type an application Restart the Report Server service.
    Here is a detailed MSDN article for your reference:

  • Problem running SSRS report on SharePoint 2010 - report renders rendomly

    I have an SSRS master report that contains about 30 sub-reports. These reports are deployed to SharePoint 2010 server. Per my understanding these reports run independently of Reporting Server (execute directly from the cube/database).
    It appears that this master report executes for about 10 minutes and then returns a blank page for most requests. Seldom it returns the master report consisting 30 sub-reports. I have checked Report Server logs using the following query and it shows no trace.
    Use ReportServer
    select * from ExecutionLog3 order by TimeStart DESC
    I set SharePoint 2010 logging to the lowest level and reviewed the log for the run-time of the report. This log shows that the report and sub reports are being executed, however it does not provide any significant error information. Follows a sample of what
    SharePoint log contains for single sub-report execution.

    I have tried running reports on IE 8, IE 9, Chrome and on multiple systems. This random behavior does not change across browsers or machines. Report is rendered for one out of 10 requests (if at all).

    Hi Kenny,
    Thank you for your question.
    From your description, you can to move the parameter pane from right to the top in the SharePoint site, right? • SSRS Report Data Caching Problem in Internet Explorer

    HI All,
    We have setup reporting server in native mode and have deployed SSRS reports on reporting server and mapped it to sharepoint page with report viewer web part.
    The changes on the data is not getting reflected on the report unless I close the browser completely and reopen the URL but at the same time for other rdl reportr, data is getting changed on same brower. so it doesn't seems to be the browser issue (not sure).
    Also the both reports are almost same.
    Any Idea Guys...whats happening with the report or how I can make it work to refresh data properly. I already have tried "Auto Refresh" option in rdl and it refreshes the browser but data doesn't gets refreshed. Also I had deleted cookies, clear the cache
    but it also did not work for me.
    Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nipendra Garg

    Hi Nipendra Garg,
    This might be caused by the refresh behavior of Internet Explorer. When visit a webpage with the same URL, IE may use an old version of this page which stored in browsing history.
    If you're calling the report from a URL, add &rs:ClearSession=True. This will cause the browser to refresh the report every time it's called.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,
    Eileen

  • Issue while opening SSRS Report with Oracle as Datasource in Report Manager

    I deployed SSRS report in Report Manager but I am unable to generate that report. Am getting following error.
    Is it problem with datasource in report manager? I am not able to change the Data source type to Oracle. It is showing Microsoft SQL Server. How can I change it, no other options are coming except Microsoft SQL Server. Please help.
    An
    error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
    Cannot
    create a connection to data source 'TEST_DS'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
    For
    more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local
    server machine, or enable remote errors

     When I deploy them in localhost, and try to run report in report manager, it is not showing any data source type in drop down list except MS SQL Server. I do not know why it is showing in BIDS and not in report manager!!!
    Hello,
    Based on my test, I can specify the data source type as Oracle after deploy the report to Report Manager and open the report Data source propertity page. If the report use the shared data source, you should check the specify data source at the Data Source
    folder. Please refer to the following screen shot:

  • Problem on developing SSRS report in a production environment

    Any problem could  be caused if have to develop SSRS report in a production environment ?
    If so, how it can be prevented?
    Thanks!

    Hi ,
    As per my understanding, Normally our environment setup contains Development,testing,preproduction,production and its varies from company to company.
    We develop SSRS report in development environment and after testing we deploy it to production report server.
    Development environment use development database for creating report like your database IP and credential will use development environment
    setup. and production environment use production database for creating report like your database IP and credential will use production environment setup.
    Thanks

  • Save SSRS Report as .PDF in Client Machine

    Hi,
    I am working on a SharePoint 2010 Visual WebPart, the saves a SSRS report as pdf on a button click.  The code is mentioned below:
    HttpWebRequest Req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(URL);
    Req.UseDefaultCredentials = true;
    Req.PreAuthenticate = true;
    Req.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;
    HttpWebResponse objResponse = (HttpWebResponse)Req.GetResponse();
    Req.Method = "GET";
    //Specify the path for saving.
    string path = @"C:\test\" + quoteID + @".pdf";
    FileStream fs = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write);
    Stream stream = objResponse.GetResponseStream();
    byte[] buf = new byte[1024];
    int len = stream.Read(buf, 0, 1024);
    while (len > 0)
    fs.Write(buf, 0, len);
    len = stream.Read(buf, 0, 1024);
    fs.Close();
    stream.Close();
    The code works great, however, when the user clicks the button the file is getting saved directly in the main server when the WebPart is deployed.  So, now I want the user to be able to select the location in there system to save the file.  How
    to enable the "Open save file dialog" and let the user select the location. can someone help me with this ?
    thanks.
    Regards, Vikram

    You can use below snippet.
     string strURL=path;
            WebClient req=new WebClient();
            HttpResponse response = HttpContext.Current.Response;
            response.Clear();
            response.ClearContent();
            response.ClearHeaders();
            response.Buffer= true;
            response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment;filename=\"" + Server.MapPath(strURL) + "\"");
            byte[] data=req.DownloadData(Server.MapPath(strURL));
            response.BinaryWrite(data);
            response.End();
