ST06 Physical Mem free is low

My system ECC 6 EHP4 runs on AIX 5.3 and Oracle database. Physical memory 24GB.
I have a performance problem due to memory problem, since in ST06 - Physical mem free is always low, only around 300MB in idle condition. When users log in and do transaction the system then runs out of free memory.
I don't know what process that consumed the memory.
ST06 - Top CPU didn't show any process with high memory usage, total memory usage in ST06-Top CPU only show 1GB.
In SM04, total memory usage only show around 600 MB.
I think,  there is  a missconfigured setting that caused the system could not utilized all the 24 GB memory.
Do you have any idea where should i check?
Regards,
Fendhy

This may be because of the memory allocated on start of Database and SAP.
Check how much memory is allocated on database (SGA, PGA)
Also how much memory is assigned to SAP. you can use sappfpar program to check this.
If the sum of both memory allocation + OS memory requirement + other apps is nearly 24 GB you will always see 300MB free.
What is your total SWAP space? More memory requirement will be met by swap space which will result in swapping.
If swapping is high you will have performance degradation.
In that case you will have to increase main memory or decrease memory allocation at startup to database and SAP.

  • ST06 show negative Physical mem free

    Dear Guru,
When I look into ST06 - Operating System Monitor, table Memory, it shows that Physical mem free is negative, "1-".
    Here's the screenshot:
Could anyone please advice, how to fix this one via RZ10 - Edit Profiles; which parameters should I look up to?
And how big should I put in?
    Our server specification:
    OS/database: AS/400 with DB2

I'm looking to start my own web app to help teach myself EJB and am looking for a free or low-cost ejb app server that I can work on. I realize I get what I pay for so performace isn't an issue. Anyone have suggestions?

  • Is there a way to adjust shadows in iMovie 11? WhenI adjust brightness it changes shadows also. If not is there free or low cost software available? My operating system is Lion.

Is there a way to adjust shadows in imovie 11. When I adjust brightness, it changes shadows also. If not, is there free or low cost software that I can download? I am using Lion 10.7.1

You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

  • Windows Server 2012 Logical Disk Free Space (%) Low

I enabled the monitor "Windows Server 2012 Logical Disk Free Space (%) Low" and configured a low threshold to test. I started to get a bunch of warnings from servers, for example:
The disk \\?\Volume{ee0222ed-16de-40a5-af89-f95db3fdf5a4} on computer PC is running out of disk space. The value that exceeded the threshold is 11% free space.
Now I checked on the server, and all the disks have more than 11% free space. Additionally, I don't see any disks with such a name/guid.
When looking at the additional knowledge of the monitor, I see that it is using the following information:
    Object Name: Logical Disk
    Counter Name: PercentFree
My question is where is this disk coming from, and how can I avoid these disks from creating false alarms? When looking in the Windows Server
From my analyzing the DB, I see that these are the partitions on the server without a volume letter. Any way to avoid getting these discovered and/or alerts, without overriding each one?

    Hi,
These "strange" disks are called mount points.
They get discovered by the "Mount Point Discovery Rule".
Go to your authoring => rules => search for the rule above and disable it.
If you want to remove all the instances in your environment you need to use Remove-SCOMDisabledClassInstance
    powershell cmdlet.
More info on the cmdlet can be found here:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh920257%28v=sc.20%29.aspx

  • Systemdrive free space low

    Hi Everybody,
We have a server (dual 2.3GHz PPC 2G RAM) with 3 80G HDs. 2 are RAIDed together for user home directories and the 3rd is the system drive. Nothing is on it but OS X 10.4.11 Server. Yet there is only 7% free space reported in the Finder. The server serves a 25 seat graphic design lab with about 100 users in the WGM. The format is Mac OS X extended (journaled). The disk passes verfication with disk utility, and permissions check out OK too. All visible folders on system drive add up to less than 20G.
    What's going on here?
    TIA,
    David

I've figured out that the Library directory is large because of a few image files that we used with NetBoot to clone the lab workstations. I can move those image files off to a NAS drive which will gain some space.
But what's with /Volumes? It looks like I somehow made an erroneous copy of the student home folders from the RAID pair. Or is /Volumes used for caching? Maybe I did this when I was trying to set up the new NAS disk and make backups? I feel extremely stupid
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Performance Tuning for ECC 6.0

    Hi All,
I have an ECC 6.0EP 7.0(ABAPJAVA). My system is very slow. I have Oracle 10.2.0.1.
Can you please guide me how to do these steps in the sytem
    1) Reorganization should be done at least for the top 10 huge tables
    and their indexes
    2) Unaccessed data can be taken out by SAP Archiving
3)Apply the relevant corrections for top sap standard objects
    4) CBO update statistics must be latest for all SAP and customer objects
I have never done performance tuning and want to do it on this system.

ST06 is showing a Application server CPU usage.
If your thinking that it should be higher you might check the saposcol release level.
If your looking for DB server CPU then you will need ST07 if sapcl and things are configured correctly.
Or get the system Z team to look at usage in RMF reports for given time interval.
The system CPU usage can be seen for history in st07n history section if you want to see usage over say last 24-36 hours

  • SAP is taking less memory after issue?

    Hi,
We had an issue with our servers, but manage to recover everything without restoring a single backup. Everything works fine now.........
But there is one single thing that bothers me..........
We run SAP on server with 16GB RAM
    Now in OS06 I get this :
    Memory
Physical mem avail Kb 16,777,172 Physical mem free Kb 15,077,720
Before that SAP was taking at least 8GB RAM fast, now it takes hardly more than 2GB??
    What is going on???
    Special Thanks in advance
    Release: SAP 4.6B
    DataBase: IBM DB2 v7.2
    OS: IBM AIX 4.3.3
    Hardware: IBM RS/6000 - S70, H70, F50

    Hi,
SAP note 189072 talking about incorrect value at ST06/OS06.
    Have  alook.
Try also to check and compare from your OS level.
Maybe collecting of OS Memory info is not correct ?
Maybe update SAPOSCOL version will make a different ? (SAP Note 19227)
    cheers,
    Vincent

  • Is there a low cost/free upgrade for recent LR5 purchasers?

I just bought Lightroom 5. It arrived in my mailbox on Tuesday. Since LR6 just came out, is there some sort of free or low cost upgrade option to go to 6 for people in this situation? There was a similar program during the LR5 launch timeframe for people who bought LR4 just prior to the launch.

Please contact our Chat team to check if you are eligible to apply for a complimentary upgrade - https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/upgrade-policy-product-announcement.htm l

  • Why does my mac use virtual memory when I still have free physical memory?

I have a 2011 i7 quad core mac, I was hoping it would scream. Most of the time it does. However when trying to edit within FCPX I get a very disappointing experience with many pauses and pin wheels if I don't close every single other program.
I have 8GB of physical memory and when i'm experiencing these problems I see that i still have 1-2 gb of physical memory free or inactive. At the same time FCPX is only using 2gb of memory. I just happened to keep an eye on the VM page in/outs and noticed them going up.
Right now i'm doing some browsing and emailing, that's about it.. its sat with over 4gb of memory free or inactive and yet still the page in/outs is still going up occasionally. It's currently at over 2 million page ins, and over 1 million page outs.
So with so much physical memory free why is this happening!? At the moment the mac feels nice and responsive, but if i start trying to use FCPX i'll start to experience these slowdowns, stalls... whenever i see these i see my main hdd is being accessed whilst the pinwheel is displayed.. I mean i get it, its VM, the hdd is too full, a bit fragmented perhaps, its stalling... but i've got gigs of memory sitting free or inactive... why wont the OS use it!!!
Would my experience improve if i took the plunge and got 16gb of memory instead of 8gb!?
    Thanks for your help!

Because without virtual memory, managing computer RAM is a royal pain in the ...
Virtual memory cost you nothing, and gains you huge benefits, even if you do not notice it
What cost you is when you need more real RAM than is available, and things are thown out of RAM, either back to the original file it came from (Read Only information), or pushed out to the swapfiles (/var/vm/*).  Then the system has to wait for slower disk access.  But even this is better than not being able to run the apps until you quit something else.
(speaking as someone that starting his professional life working with 1" punch paper tape, 80 columns cards, 7-track and 9-track mag tapes, 1MB disks (you heard me right 1 Megabyte), etc..., and trust me when I tell you that virtual memory is a god send to software development).
There are a lot of problems running a modern operating system with out virtual memory.  For example all the shared libraries and frameworks that provide services to an application would all need to be compiled into the application, which means every application gets bigger and instead of having a single copy of the shared library or framework, you would have dozens of copies wasting your RAM.
Without virtual memory, you would be required to find a contiguous chunk of RAM to run your application.  Think of this like going out to dinner by yourself, you can find any available table, but if you go to dinner with your extended family, you need a table for 10 to 15, and if you are going to dinner with your high school graduation class, you will need hundreds of seats all next to each other and a very large table.  In the later situations you have to wait until the resturante has enough contiguous space, which means you have to wait until other diners finish.  There may be lots of empty tables, but they are not together, and your group wants/needs to sit together.  Virtual memory allows gathering any 4K chunk of RAM, building a virtual memory map for all those random 4K chunks, and make it look like one big contiguous chunk of RAM, so you can run your application right away, no waiting.
Going back to shared libraries and frameworks.  This code will need to have addresses resolved so they branch to the correct locations during execution, and it will need to have addresses resolved on where its program variables are located in RAM.  Using virtual memory, you can local a shared object into RAM, then place it in everyone's virtual memory map at the exact same RAM address.  This means everyone can use the exact same code, and since everyone is using it at the same RAM address, it makes life so much easier for the operating system (translation, less work, less wasted CPU time, faster execution).
When a program wants to grow, for example a web browser loading a web page (and its images) into RAM, it needs to allocate additional RAM.  In the contiguous RAM model, you need to get control of the RAM that imediately following your program, but if that RAM is being used by someone else, you have to wait until that program goes away.
Virtual memory provides protection from another program looking at and modifying your program's RAM.  Malware would just love for virtual memory to go away.
You want virtual memory.  What you do not want is excessive paging activity.
If you are concerned, then you can launch Applicaitons -> Utilities -> Terminal.  Once you have a terminal command prompt, enter the following command:
    sar -g 60 100
which will tell you the number of 4k pages written to /var/vm/pagefile ever minute for 100 minutes (modify the numbers to suit your tastes).  You can then go about your normal usage, and come back later to see how much you have been using the pagefiles.  If you have mostly zeros, and an occasional small burst, this is noise, and not worth worrying about.  If you have sustained pageout activity, with higher numbers, then you should either consider running less things all at the same time, or looking for an application that is being greedy with its memory use (or has a memory leak), OR get more RAM for your Mac if you need to do all those things at once.
But do not complain about virtual memory.  Life would be much worse without it.  Then again if you have a better idea, write a research paper, and get operating system vendors (as well as hardware vendors) to implement your ideas.  I am serious, as I've seen many accepted computing ideas be overturned by good new ideas.

  • Running 9.0.1 Firefox. I get a msg from AVG that Firefox is using too much memory and then the computer (not just Firefox) shuts off. Running Win7 (64-bit) with 4 GB Mem and Intel i-5. Only 4-5 "normal" windows are open at the time this happens.

Right now Task manager Performance tab on Memory says: Total 3958; Cached mem 1588; Avail 2239; Free 722; Physical Mem 43% and this window is the only thing open. Kernel mem (MB) says Paged 179 and Nonpaged 80.
I can get you more info if you tell me what you need (and where to find it - I am 60 y.o. woman and this is not my forte :=)
    Thanks,

If you want to reduce memory(60%) '''when firefox minimize[only in windows os] '''there is an easy old good trick:
type in the address bar '''about:config'''
then press the button '''i'll be careful i promise'''
then '''right-click''' anywhere in the list of preferences and choose '''new''' > '''boolean'''
then type in the open window '''config.trim_on_minimize'''
then click''' OK''', and in the next window select '''TRUE''' and click '''OK'''.
    exit firefox and restart-it.
    '''works only in windows os'''
    see for more info :

  • Export physical and logical details on ASA 5520 and 8.0 software

Hello...does anybody know if there is any way to export details of the physical and logical interface details (including interface descriptions) to Excel, PDF or and other format from the command line or ASDM?
    Thanks,
    John

Export directly in xls, xlsx or pdf - no.
The output of "show run interface" or "show interface" is pretty structured however and easily parsed by Excel - either manually or via a macro. See output below (you can omit the interface identifier to get all interfaces. I used one for brevity.)
One can build a script to log in, perform an arbitrary command logging the output to a file which can then be massaged to extract the information you want in a suitable format (csv, etc.). Once in Excel it can be saved as pdf if you're so inclined.
Of couse, some of the full-featured network management tools do a lot of this (and lots more) if you have them.
