Stable webcam for Connect 9 on W7 64-bit?

I am having lockups with the latest Add-In on Connect 9 using Logitech's Pro9000 webcam using their latest W7 64-bit drivers.  Others have complained of the logitech 64-bit drivers in other apps as well.
Anyone have a favorite camera for Connect 9?  I feel like I need to build a machine dedicated to Connect and don't use it for anything else, once I get it stable.  Surely it won't come to that.
Are Macs well behaved in Connect as a host/presenter plaform?

I looked at this webcam.  Looks interesting, but I think the higher end Logitech webcams have built-in H.264 encryption.  I wonder if that helps Connect?

Yes, I was running the Logitech drivers.  I followed your link and it took me to a page for software for he webcam C510. I wonder if they download a universal packaging for old webcams, 32 and 64 bit, etc.  But you indicate you are running 32-bit.  That gives more credence to my case that their 64-bit drivers are unstable, as I have had read from many complaints on the net.
I was directed by Logitech to find the proper drivers in the dialog below (loved the part about leaving my computer off for 15 minutes!).
---------------------------  Logitech Response  ----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I understand, you are not happy with the software of Logitech Webcam Pro 9000.
Greg, I noticed that you had submitted your email to us on 10/26/2012. I want to take a moment to apologize for the wait in receiving my response and for the inconveniences your issue might have caused you.
Please be informed that QuickCam 11 is not the latest driver of Logitech Webcam Pro 9000.
In this case, you may want to uninstall QuickCam 11 and install the latest driver of Logitech Webcam Pro 9000; the Logitech Webcam Software.
Your webcam is plug-and-play, which means that it should work with your Windows native drivers. To resolve the issue, the following are recommended:
NOTE: If you already uninstalled all Logitech webcam drivers on your computer, please proceed with Step II.
STEP I
Please uninstall QuickCam Software using Revo Uninstaller (This is a third party software.).
You can download the 30 days free trial on www.revouninstaller.com.
This software will uninstall all the components of the program including the registry.
Once you have installed the Revo Uninstaller, please follow the steps below:
1. Close the QuickCam Software> go to the system tray and look for the icon.
2. Right click on the icon of the QuickCam Software > Exit.
3. Open the Revo Uninstaller > look for the QuickCam Softwarethen right click > uninstall.
4. Wait for the software while it scans > it will ask to uninstall the software.
5. Once the software is uninstalled > select the scan to Advance then click Scan.
6. Once all the registry appears > click Select All > Delete.
7. Turn off your computer. Remove the plug from the socket.
8. Unplug the webcam.
9. After 15 minutes, turn on your computer.
STEP II
After the Logitech Webcam Software is fully uninstalled, please do the steps below:
1. Plug your webcam.
2. Check your computer specifications to make sure that the system is within the minimum requirements of the webcam to function properly.
>> Please refer to the link below:
Answer Title: Logitech Webcam Software v2.x for Windows Release Notes
Answer Link: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17022
3. Plug in the webcam to another USB port on the computer. If you are using a USB hub, bypass the hub, and plug in the webcam directly to the computer. Like any other USB device, you will hear a prompt or a message will come up indicating that your computer "found new hardware". Wait until the drivers are successfully installed.
>> Please refer to the link below:
Answer Title: Verifying your USB 2.0  webcam is working at high-speed
Answer Link: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3139
4. Test the webcam on another application (other than the Logitech Webcam Software). You may use any video calling application like Skype, Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger. If you don't have any of these applications installed yet, please click on the link below to test your webcam:
Link: http://www.testmycam.com/
Test the webcam on MyComputer.
  a. Click on Start > MyComputer > Scanners and Cameras.
  b. Double-click on USB Video Device or Logitech Webcam
  c. Your image should appear on the screen.
If the webcam works fine now, you may now download the latest version of the Logitech Webcam Software using the link below:
http://www.logitech.com/pub/video/quickcam/lws231_full.exe
After the driver has been downloaded, please unplug the webcam, close all the application open on your desktop, and press F5 on your keyboard.
Install the driver by double-clicking the downloaded driver. A message-prompt will appear click on Run. Follow the on-screen instruction.
NOTE: Do not plug the webcam when asked to, just click on "Skip" and completely the installation.
When the installation is complete, plug the webcam.
Check if the issue has been resolved.
Test the webcam by clicking on Start > All Programs > Logitech > Logitech Webcam Software. Click on QuickCapture. This screen should show your image.
One more thing, kindly ensure that you are running the latest version of DirectX.

I am looking for bluetooth driver to connect Iphone 4 with pc W7 64 bits.
Does anyone know if this driver exist?
Does anyone know where to find this driver?

You can quit looking, as the only thing you can do by pairing your iPhone, by bluetooth, to your computer is tether. That is if tethering is supported by your carrier & provisioned on your account. File transfer by bluetooth is not supported & the iPhone does not support disk mode.

  • Looking for some stable Webcam software

Also when I try to toggle to Manycam, it doesn't appear, I have to click on the icon on my dock to make it appear.
Also, when I try to write a text in the Manycam, if I try to write in the midst of an existing text, it moves the cursor to the end of the text.
My CamTwist gets error so much and every time I restart it all the settings reset so I have to add all that pictures again etc. Is there a better software that doesn't get much error? Also at one time my CamTwist iTunes function worked when I chose the Screenflick Audio option in my Mic setting but now it doesn't. Solution?
Is there any more stable webcam software than Manycam or CamTwist?

  • I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) and am currently running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I would like to know which is the most stable upgrade for my model. I have read some reviews of Maverick and Yosemite making the older macs slower. Is this true?

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008), Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz, 4GB Memory. and am currently running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
I would like to know which is the most stable upgrade for my model? Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite?
When I had gone to the apple care centre in India a few months ago to upgrade my OSX to Mountain Lion, I was told that considering my macbook pro's specs, upgrading it would just make it less efficient, and that I should stick to Snow Leopard unless I consider buying a newer mac that would benefit from it. Is this true? I find it a bit hard to believe. Which update is most recommended?
I also notice that my mac has gotten considerably slower. While using chrome, it buffers and struggles with even just 5 tabs open. Could this have something to do with my current ios? As a precaution, I have always been making sure I have enough free space on disk i.e around 70 - 100 free out of 250GB.
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Mavericks is no longer available from the App Store, so your choice is Yosemite. One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.

  • How to install driver on a 64 bit system to access a networked printer connected to a 32 bit pc?

Did a clean install of 64 bit Windows 7 and tried to connect to Deskjet printer connected to a 32 bit Windows 7 system on home network. Said to install from Windows installation DVD but no such animal on DVD. HP error only talked about USB connection and said nothing about network. Hookup worked fine when everything was 32 bit.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Sorry, that wasn't clear at all. I would use the 64 bit machine to go on the internet and download the latest 64 bit driver for the printer. Just run the setup on the 64 bit machine and I believe it will give you the option to search for a shared printer.  You must use the 64 bit version of the printer driver on the 64 bit machine.  The driver is just telling the 64 bit machine how to communicate with the printer no matter where it is.

  • Develop software for connecting to creative zen touch and other devices not recognized by wind

    hi there,
as a programmer i wonder, is it possible to obtain information of how to connect to usb-connected creative device (which is not recognized automatically by windows, as the zen touch) and how to communicate with it's is there any documentation about that available to "non-creative" ;-) developers?
the idea is to create a plugin (e.g. for musikcube) that enables the programm to access the files on the device.
i know there are third party companies that do provide software for connecting to e.g. zen touch, but i do not think that they have figured out every little bit by themselves, have they?
    greetings and thanks a lot
    asdf

    Try this:
Download <a href='http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=444' target=_blank>this[/url] file. Extract it to whatever folder you like. Inside that folder run the file fixup.cmd. A DOS window will open up and start display messages on what its doing, when its done it will instruct you to remove the device from Device Manager and reconnect it.
Try this and see if it works.

  • Windows 7 upgrade: discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?

I would like to know whether the Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?  I called Mentor today and was told the answer is no, but I was hoping someone here could tell me differently.
If "no" is truly the answer, I would like to voice my complaint: The upgrade discs from Microsoft (i.e. the retail upgrade discs) include both the 32 and 64-bit versions, so I don't completely understand why Lenovo's upgrade program doesn't offer the same thing.  I purchased my T500 in August, and back then Vista Ultimate 64 was not offered, so I chose Vista Ultimate 32 thinking that I could later upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64.  This assumption was based off of the info. on Microsoft's website indicating that all upgrades would contain the 32 and 64-bit versions.  I even customized my computer with 4 gigs of RAM thinking that I could take advantage of the extra gig once I installed Windows 7 64.
I don't understand what Lenovo or Mentor Media have to gain by restricting a 32 to 64-bit install.  I voiced this opinion to Mentor Media over the phone, who responded by saying that I should be happy since I am receiving a "free" upgrade.  I don't think this is an accurate assessment for two reasons: (1) I had to pay $17.03 for shipping, and I still haven't received the upgrade and (2) The total cost of my computer was almost $3,000, and the purchase was made a mere few weeks before Windows 7 was released.  $3,000 is a lot of money.  I waited for the details of the Windows 7 Upgrade Program to be announced BEFORE purchasing my machine.  When I finally bought my computer I accounted Windows 7 into the price I was paying.  In addition, when I bought this computer I did so expecting good customer service as a given.  Not providing a 64-bit upgrade without a rational explanation as to why does not qualify as appropriate customer service.
As most of you know, 4 gigs of RAM is useless with a 32-bit OS.  Also, NOW Lenovo is building new T500s with the option of having Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (why wasn't Vista Ultimate 64 offered when I bought my computer???).  And the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 32 is EQUAL to the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 64, which proves that there is no cost difference.  I just want to know what Lenovo has to gain by denying customers a 64-bit upgrade?  There would really be no additional cost since as I mentioned before, Microsoft's retail upgrade includes the 32 and 64-bit OS on one disc.  If anything I would think that it's costing Lenovo money to strip the 64-bit install from the upgrade discs.
Can anyone please address my problems?  Do you think there is anyone at Lenovo I could contact to voice my opinions?  I have been a loyal Thinkpad customer for over 5 years now, and I expect better from Lenovo.  Thank you for reading!
moderator note: core question add to title, as stated in the forum rules and it will help others too answer your questions.

Is there any way to request a 64-bit OEM?  Why should Lenovo care whether I want a 32-bit or 64-bit as long as it's the same edition (Ultimate edition)?
if your system shipped with a 32-bit version of vista then you will be sent 32-bit windows 7 upgrade media.   the reason for this is two-fold.
first, because this is upgrade media, it's impossible to install a 64-bit version of windows over a 32-bit version.   doing so would require a clean installation and upgrade media simply won't allow this.   this is the case with retail media, too.   if you had 32-bit vista installed and wanted to upgrade it to 64-bit using retail media, you'd have to wipe your system or set up a dual-boot.
second, the COA (certificate of authenticity) on the bottom of your system is for vista.   because of this, your new license is of an upgrade from vista to 7.   this is how microsoft licenses it and it is their policy, not lenovo's.   microsoft's policy with OEMs is that you must install vista first, then upgrade to 7 (unless, of course, you purchased your system native with 7 on or after the 22nd).   since your original lenovo preload is of a 32-bit OS, the issue becomes circular and you'll have to refer again to the first reason.
i understand your frustration and wish this stuff were made easier for everyone.   it's repetative reading post after post of people with 4GB installed who don't understand the limitations of a 32-bit environment.   i wish both manufacturers and users switched to 64-bit OSes sooner.   the same thing happened when the industry went from 16-bit windows 3.11 to 32-bit windows NT4/95 and limitations went from 16KB all the way up to 4GB (which, in 1995, no one thought we'd ever exceed).   the difference is that people were complaining on BBSes over 14.4k modems instead of on GUI-based forums using broadband connections.   times sure have changed.

11.2 is beta at the moment. There is no official release date so far.
As DG4ODBC is independant from the Oracle database (or the target database) you can use a 3 machine model:
On the first machine you have your Oracle database, on a second machine running 32bit Windows you can install DG4ODBC and on the 3rd machine you can run your foreign database.
If the SQL Server 2k is installed on a 32bit Windows machine, then you can also install DG4ODBC on this machine.
In general the connection from an Oracle database to the DG4ODBC machine is done using SDQL*Net. The listener responsible for DG4ODBC will then load the DG4ODBC executable which will connect to the SQL Server using SQL Server ODBC driver.

  • Best webcam for Mac mini core solo?

What is the best webcam to use for my Mac Mini with an older display - is MacAlly icecam 2 sufficient? and i'm still on 10.4.11. Many thanks for your kind responses.

I've been looking into webcams for my mini and have noticed that some webcams whilst the video works, the sound doesn't. I have an old webcam which my wife uses on our windows box, and I got it working on my mac using the Macam drivers http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/ The only problem was that the microphone wasn't supported, a recurring trend!! From my investigations the Logitech Quick Cam Vision Pro for Mac seems to be the best available, but it is a bit expensive £89.99 here in the UK.

Regardless of the version, this is not exactly a "Forms" failure. This is an issue between OHS and WLS. Basically it means that OHS (via mod_wl_ohs) was unable to communicate with WLS_FORMS (or whichever managed server you are trying to access). Most often this means the managed server is not running or not responding. If you believe it is running and is responsive (test by hitting it directly) then the problem is probably related to your installation. Generally, if you have not properly configured your networking before you installed WLS and FMw, then this can occur. For example, on Windows machine which do not have static IP addresses, the Installation Guide instructs you to install the Windows loopback adapter and configure it. If you did not do this, OHS likely will not be able to contact WLS_FORMS.
You can test what I have described above by attempting to access WLS_FORMS directly. For example:
    http://yourHost:9001/forms/frmservlet
If that works, the issue is probably related to a net config issue.

  • Best Practices for Connecting to WebHelp via an application?

    Greetings,
My first post on these forums, so I appologize if this has already been covered (I've done some limited searching w/o success).  I'm developing a .Net application which is accessing my orginazation's RoboHelp-generated webhelp.  My organization's RoboHelp documentation team is still new with the software and so it's been up to me to chart the course for establishing the workflow for connecting to the help from the application.  I've read up on Peter Grange's 'calling webhelp' section off his blog, but I'm still a bit unclear about what might be the best practices approach for connecting to webhelp.
To date, my org. has been delayed in letting me know their TopicIDs or MapIDs for their various documented topics.  However, I have been able to acquire the relative paths to those topics (I achieved this by manually browsing their online help and extracting out the paths).  And I've been able to use the strategy of creating the link via constructing a URL (following the strategy of using the following syntax: "<root URL>?#<relative URI path>" alternating with "<root URL>??#<relative URI path>").  It strikes me, however, that this approach is somewhat of a hack - since RoboHelp provides other approaches to linking to their documentation via TopicID and MapID.
What is the recommended/best-practices approach here?  Are they all equally valid or are there pitfalls I'm missing.  I'm inclined to use the URI methodology that I've established above since it works for my needs so far, but I'm worried that I'm not seeing the forest for the trees...

    PS: we're using RoboHelp 9.0

I've been giving this some thought over the weekend and this is the best answer I've come up with from a developer's perspective:
    (1) Connecting via URL is convenient if (#1) you have an established naming convention that works for everyone (as Peter mentioned in his reply above)
    (2) Connecting via URL has the disadvantage that changes to the file names and/or folder structure by the author will break connectivity
    (3) Connecting via TopicID/MapID has the advantage that if there is no naming convention or if it's fluid or under construction, the author can maintain that ID after making changes to his/her file or folder structure and still maintain the application connectivity.  Another approach to solving this problem if you're working with URLs would be to set up a web service that would match file addresses to some identifier utilized by the developer (basically a TopicID/MapID coming from the other direction).
    (4) Connecting via TopicID has an aesthetic appeal in the code since it's easy to provide a more english-readable identifier.  As a .Net developer, I find it easy and convenient to construct an enum that matches my TopicIDs and to utilize that enum to construct my identifier when it comes time to make the documentation call.
    (5) Connecting via URL is more convenient for the author, since he/she doesn't have to worry about maintaining IDs
    (6) Connecting via TopicIDs/MapIDs forces the author to maintain those IDs and allows the documentation to be more easily used into the future by other applications worked by developers who might have their own preference in one direction or another as to how they make their connection.
Hope that helps for posterity.  I'd be interested if anyone else had thoughts to add.
