    Hello Gurus,
I did a switchover and then performed a reverse switchover again. So Primary(original) is Primary now and My Standby(original) is Standby now.

I wonder why in Some cases it is coming as APPLIED=NO and both the Primary and Standby.
Also in Standby D:\EDRIVE\STANDBY\ARC\1_1_815506630.ARC  YES NO                 1 why sequence number 1 is gerenarated an not applied any where?
Could any one of you please help me to know this?

  • Standby data Gurad 10g switchover problem with application

    Hi!
I'm working on oracle 10g and try to make standby datagurad with same dbname eg. if my primary database name is orcl then my standby database should be orcl with same location because one of mine application is accepting only orcl not standbyorcl.
Because when I'm doing switchover to standby database application not able to read standbyorcl and application result through error and close.
Could any one help me to make init.ora parameter for primary and standinit.ora for standby with same database name.
    Amit Kumar

You should use an Application Service instead of the standard Database Service in the first place to take care of Role Changes in your Data Guard configuration properly.
    Look here for an example:
    http://uhesse.wordpress.com/oracle-database-ha-architecture/2009/08/19/connect-time-failover-transparent-application-failover-for-data-guard/

  • Logical Standby Creation Problems "Create STatus Unknown"

We are using Grid Control 10.2.0.3 on Oracle 10.2..0.3 databases, Windows 2003 sp2 machines.
We have a primary and fsfo physical standby working properly. We went to create a logical standby on a separate server and had problems. it turned out that the listener on the server was not discovered on the target. we fixed that problem and finished the creation of the logical standby and it seems to be functioning properly now.
However, the status on the data guard page for the logical standby shows Create Status Unknown and we are unable to proceed on to create an additional standby database for other purposes. We have tried removing the logical standby target and re-discovering it but status still shows Create Status Unknown.
Is there any way to clear this status without having to drop the logical standby and completely recreate it.

The status on the agent shows it uploading successfully.
We resolved the issue by removing the logical standby from the configuration and selecting to retain the log apply. We then re-added the standby selecting to manage an existing standby database and the status went to normal.

  • Standby sync problem.

    Hi,
    DB Version:10g R2
    OS:LINUX
We have configured the physical standby database and it was running as expected, but due to some un know reasons one of the archivelog at primary side has been deleted and it is no longer available to be transferred and applied at standby side and hence now standby is not sysnc with primary DB. In this case how i can make the standby in sync with primary DB.
No backup of delete archivelog is avaliable.
    I really appreciate the help.

    Hi
    THIS WORKS TRY THIS
In 10g you can use an incremental backup and recover the standby using the same to compensate for the missing archivelogs as shown below
In the case below archivelogs with sequence numbers 137 and 138 which are required on the standby are deleted to simulate this problem.
Step 1: On the standby database check the current scn.
    STDBY>>select current_scn from v$database;
    CURRENT_SCN
    4793543
Step 2: On the primary database create the needed incremental backup from the above SCN

This is because the controlfile has not been updated.
Hence the standby controlfile has to be recreated
    On the primary
    PRIM>>alter database create standby controlfile as 'C:\temp\standby01.ctl';
    System altered.
Copy the standby control file to the standby site and restart the standby database in managed recovery mode...
Managed Standby Recovery not using Real Time Apply
parallel recovery started with 2 processes
Media Recovery Waiting for thread 1 sequence 139
As you can see from the above output the standby is now looking for the next archivelog.
If you have the luxury of time at your disposal you can do an export of the standby database in read only mode.
    Cheers
    Kanchana.

I have tried 2 different chargers and 2 different batteries. I am currently using an old nokia phone to charge up a battery to put in the 6680 every day. Help? Am I doing something wrong??
Prior to it being unlocked it charged up no problem.
If you have a new phone you need to keep it on charge for 16 hours. Once the battery is fully charged the charge indicator stops moving which would tell you that the battery is full.

  • Need Help Understanding GoldenGate DR (Standby) Switchover/Fail-over with DBFS and Fuser

Hi, Gurus. We are about to embark on GoldenGate DR failover / switchover configuration and testing using DBFS and Fuser. The details are described in Doc ID 1436913.1 and 1322547.1.
I know the basics of GoldenGate and Oracle DataGuard. But DBFS and Fuser are new concepts to me. I need some help.
    1) Is GoldenGate installed in a DBFS partition on the primary? SO, DBFS has to be configured before it is installed?
    2) Are these GoldenGate files and directories (ggsci, /dirdat, /dirrpt, etc) visible from UNIX level? Will I be able to navigate in the GG mount or is it a closed file system like ASM?
    3) DBFS has to be a part of database. So, what happens if primary database crashes and cannot be mounted? My guess DBFS will not start because the database is down. Or does it run outside of database?
    4) Does DBFS store just links to large files in the Oracle database, but the actual GoldenGate binaries files still reside on OS level? Ot they are INSIDE of the database - both GG binaries and trails?
    5) How does GoldenGate replicates itself to standby? Because it is a part of database and primary archivelogs and redo logs send the changes to the standby? Or it ONLY runs until switchover/failover on the primary, but afterward it is simply unmounted from primary and mounted to standby by the oracle OS user and the scripts? Or is there a datapump and extract that send trails to standby and after the failure those trails are simply being used?
I guess that is my main question. Why do we bother with DBFS at all? We can simply add a standby extract/datapump to the primary. It will send trails to the standby, that will have only manager running. The manager will accept the trails, periodically deleting all older than lets say one week. At the time of failover/switchover we simply use the same queries as in the docs above to find out if standby became the new primary (the failover had occured). If it did, we can use the same script to get SCN from which this new incarnation started , use a shell script to use an obey file to add the replicat starting from that sequence and voila! Why do we need to bother with fuser and cumbersome DBFS at all? Please let me know what I am missing. If there are alternative to this DBFS DR GoldenGate switchover I would like to use which ever one is the simplest. Thanks.

Looking at the information provided by you. You have created a flashback restore point and then activated your standby database. As you have flashback restore you can flashback your current primary database(old standby) to standby mode but all your changes made on your database will be lost. And you have not done a switchover. you have activated your standby.

  • FiOS + VCR + Standby Mode = problems for my Grandma.

So my Grandma just got FiOS. She still "tapes" stuff using VCR's (crazy, I know... but she ain't changing).
Problem is, since she's had FiOS, she has been left with a bunch of tapes that contain nothing but the black standby "Press Menu to blah blah blah" screen instead of the shows she was supposed to be recording.
Is there any way around this in her situation?
Thanks in advance for any help.

By default, the remote will turn off / on both the TV and the STB when you press the power button.   Normally that is exactly what you want to occur.   You can however disable that sequence and make it so that the power button only works the device you have selected on the remote.
    From the remote documentation:
    On the remote:
    1.  Press and hold the STB key.
    2.  While hlding down the STB, press OK
    3.  Release both keys.  The Device keys will blink twice.
    4.  Press 9 - 7 - 7.  The STB key will blink twice.
    5.  Press OK.  The STB key will blink 3 times to indicate success in programming.
Now, to turn off the TV, press the TV key and then the Power button.   To turn off the STB, press the STB key and then the power button.   To work the STB, press the STB key followed by whatever commands you wanted to perform (channel, volume, etc.)

  • Dav-fr1 dvd/standby loop problems

Receiver works in every aspect except for the dvd function and when I go to turn it off it is stuck in a standby loop no matter how long I would leave it. It was working fine and it no longer recognized the cds I had in it nor would it eject. What would cause it to work fine in every other way except for the dvd/standby problems?

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot the system when the STANDBY indicator is flashing.
    NOTES:
Unplug the power cord before begining this procedure.
Since each of these steps represents a possible resolution to this issue, plug the power cord back in and check the function of the system after completing each step.
Unplug the power cord again before proceeding to the next step.
Ensure that nothing is blocking the ventilation holes on the top of the system.
Ensure that only the specified speakers are being used.
Ensure the speaker cords are properly connected.
    Replace the speaker cords.
If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service will be required .

    Control file created.
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
Database altered.actually my db was very much consistent. it was asking for not generated logs.. i tried to make incomplete recovery but was erroring with system file not consistent. so i did recreate controlfile but my purpose to create logical was not solved here as when i opened DB with newly created contrlfile database was errorring like
SCN not matching with primary database (i forgot to copy the exact error words)
in alert log it was like
RFS: Destination database mount ID mismatch [0x821cc13b:0x821e318f]
can't it then synchronise with primary as physical does with fetching previous logs?
so stopped that to further process..then again tried open my normal physical standby db with physical standby controlfile...but with physical it gave me a error of wrong pasword file and not able mount standby database.
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01991: invalid password file 'E:\oracle\ora92\DATABASE\PWDircs.ORA'
can't understandb !!....is this die to i tried to mount a open DB? but when creating a physical standby db we do take consistent back(optinal). so that time it doesn't give such type of error of pwd files....
    can't understand this behavoir?
    Any ideas?
    Regards!
