Are you able to give a closer estimate for 10gAS production that supports J2EE 1.4 / JSP 2.0 / Java 5.0?
We're currently planning the next phase of our project, and one risk is that a JSP 2.0 / Java 5.0 / J2EE 1.4 container won't be available when we want to begin the testing phase, or worse, when we want to go live.
We want to be well into testing by Jan next year.
If we can't get a firm estimate then we'd have to use jdk1.4 + jsp1.2 which we don't want to do.

Error start managed server from admin console in SSL mode
I have configured Admin server, managed servers and node manager on the same physical server and commonly using a single SSL sertificate.

From the admin console ... Are you able to check the status of Node Manager ?
If yes ... please check the SSL configuration of managed servers ...
Check the domain administration port also.

Try running netstat to see whether another process is actually running at

Try running the manageed server directly (as sort of admin) by not passing
the admin server url and bringing it just like an admin server.
See if this works. If it works, then soemthing wrong in the way the admin
server is receiving the request/security credentials from managed server.
Also make sure both managed and admin servers are on the same patch/service
pack level.

Thanks.
I used startmanagedweblogic managedserver1 http://fkeita:7001 to try to start managed
server, but it did not work, and got error messages. Error messages are posted
on my first posting.

Evelyn,
Are you able to start the server from the command line using
startweblogic.cmd ?
the file can be found under your beahome\weblogic700\samples\workshop
directory.
Did you have the older Beta installed on the same machine prior to
installing Beta2 ?
I'm not sure if you read this before.
The following is the set of steps to install Beta2
Before installing "Beta 2, uninstall your Beta 1 version like this:
1. Run the uninstaller
2. Delete the entire bea_home that housed Beta 1 (restart if necessary)
3. Restart
4. Install Beta 2
Also make sure that there is no .jellybeans or .workshop file in the
C:\Documents and Settings\username before to install Beta2
Thanks

Edited by: [email protected] on Feb 10, 2009 5:16 AMLooking at your error message a little closer, I don't believe it has anything to do with port conflicts but rather that even though you are executing the startManagedWeblogic.cmd with your managed server name (MS1), the error indicates that it is trying to start the Admin Server (not MS1). Note in your error message the following: Unable to obtain lock on C:\bea\user_pr
ojects\domains\PB530Domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp\AdminServer.lok. Server may a
lready be running
It is saying that it cannot start the Admin Server because it is already running (which is probably true in your case). Have you made any changes to the startManagedWeblogic.cmd or the startWeblogic.cmd scripts? I would start debugging there and try to figure out why the script is trying to start your admin server instead of MS1 as you requested on the cmd line. -
Starting application server from IDE
I'm trying to start the application server from an evaluation copy of
Visual Cafe 4.5 Enterprise Edition. When I choose Project -> Start
Application Server from the menu, a window briefly opens with "Start
Application Server" as its title and a logo of a spinning W. After
the W spins about one time the window close, with no error message
reported.
I would like to know what I should do in order to start the
application server (A developer's license of WebLogic is included)
from the IDE.Look at the weblogic.log file
(%BEA_HOME%\wlserver6.0\config\mydomain\logs\weblogic.log) to see if
there are any error messages printed there. If not, it is probably a
license issue in that the license.bea file must be in the CLASSPATH used
to start the app server.

5).Hi,
I agree with Erland. You need to verify and specify the correct path for the error log in Startup parameters.
For example: -eC:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.n\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG
To configure startup options
1.In SQL Server Configuration Manager, click SQL Server Services.
2.In the right pane, right-click SQL Server (<instance_name>), and then click Properties.
3.On the Startup Parameters tab, in the Specify a startup parameter box, type the parameter, and then click Add.
For example, to start in single-user mode, type -m in the Specify a startup parameter box and then click Add. (When you restart SQL Server in single-user mode, stop the SQL Server Agent. Otherwise, SQL Server Agent might connect first and prevent you from
connecting as a second user.)
4. Click OK.
5.Restart the Database Engine.

I've installed OC4J on Oracle 9i Application Server 1.0.2.2 on
Solaris v 5.7. I have Java version 1.2.1 as my default Java
environment.
The installation of OC4J went through fine. However, when trying
to start the OC4J server, I get the following error:
$ java -jar orion.jar
Error initializing server: Error instantiating default
application at file:/app.
Any suggesstions?
Thanks,
Ricardo R. GuzmanDid you do this first:
java -jar orion.jar -install
This will set your admin password. Not absolutely necessary, but
useful. The error indicates that you don't have write access to
some directory. Here is the layout of oc4j:
/../j2ee/home
this should be the directory you start oc4j from. The .. is
whereever you have installed oc4j.
j2ee/home/application-deployments
this directory is where the applications are actually deployed.
j2ee/home/applications
this directory is where ear files can be automatically deployed,
if you want to do that. By default, this feature is not enabled.
j2ee/home/config
various configuration xml files.
j2ee/home/default-web-app
this directory has the startup default web application.
The message you got doesn't make sense, unless you have your
default-web-site.xml file pointing to a directory /app for your
default-web-app. If you have done this, oc4j needs read/write
access to the directory. If you have not setup this permission,
this would explain the error you are getting.
