Start program automatically at Windows startup

Have a couple of programs that currently require manual start-up after Windows 2012 r2 Essential reboot.  Would like to find out how to have the programs start automatically as part of the boot up process.

Hi IstMe,
Based on your description, I understand that you want to start some programs automatically when the server restart. If anything I misunderstand, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Please open Task Scheduler and create a task. Then click Triggers tab and configure
Begin the task: At startup. Then also click Actions tab, configure
Action: Start a program and add that programs which you want to start when server start.
Task Scheduler Overview
In addition, you can also consider
computer startup scripts. Use a computer startup script to run programs with unattended parameters. Regarding to detailed script, you can post requirement in the
Script Forum. I believe we will get a better assistance there.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
Justin Gu

Hi, When you install tomcat, you can choose to do so "as a service". Then there wont be no startup.bat. then you can see your tomcat as a service under Services
    Good luck to you

  • Start tnslistener automatically on windows

    hi,
Is there a possibility to start tnslsnr automatically after
startup of Windows? I have searched for an answer in these
forums, but the only information I found on this subject
pertained to non-Windows systems (as far as I can tell).
It would save time (at least 10 seconds each time I want to
    start up my database!).

    Hi,
    startserver.bat call another file (config.bat)
Make sure DAC home and Java Home are set properly in it.
In my cause following config worked in config.bat file.
    set JAVA_HOME=C:\Progra~1\Java\jdk1.6.0_25
    set DAC_HOME="E:\DAC\dac"
Make sure you have installed proper version of JDK (i.e 64bit version for 64 bit OS)

  • Start programs automatic at boot-time

    Hi All
I need to start some software when solaris boots. Right now its ntpd. However I have no clue how to do this with Solaris 10. I assume there is a tool to do this, something like
rc-update add ntpd default (the GenToo way)
    Thanks a lot

You can either create a startup script and place it within the /etc/rc.<runlevel> directory beginning with a capital S and accepting the argument 'start'.
Or you can create a Solaris 10 service. You'd need to modify an existing manifest that would name the service, point to the right startup script (method) and establish the startup dependencies that describe when it should launch.
The first method is fast and quick, but not very fine grained. You can only launch in certain time periods. Creating a service involves a little more effort to get started, but gives monitoring/restart features along with explicit dependencies between services.

  • Starting webstart app at os startup

    I have a webstart app.
I would like to start it automatically when Windows starts.
Any one have a good method for doing this?
Ideally I would like to programatically generate a short cut to the jar that webstart puts in its cache. (this is the method webstart uses when
it generates a short cut for you to the app)
This short cut could then be placed into the users "Start Up" folder.

By default if you run an application 2 times it will prompt you to create a shortcut on the desktop/start menu.. You could then easily move that icon to the startup folder and attain your goal. As far as programatically making this happen, you have moved beyond my knowledge of webstart :)

error message-The installer has insufficent privileges to modify this file:C:\Program Data\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\iTunes\.iTunes.ink
How do I correct this to download iTunes so it will run?

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Verizon Media Manager will not start automatically with Windows, even though it is set to do so.

Verizon Media Manager will not start automatically with Windows, even though it is set to do so.  This started with the latest update.  I see that the desktop icon for Media Manager now has a security shield on it, and it requires UAC confirmation when you start it, which I don't remember the old version doing.
One thing I noticed, msconfig.exe shows that "C:\Program Files\Verizon\McciTrayApp.exe" is set to start at Windows startup, but the desktop icon used to start Media Manager manually has a target of ""C:\Program Files\Verizon\Verizon Media Manager\Release\Verizon Media Manager.exe" Verizon Media Manager".
I don't remember what the previous version was, but this one is 9.4.86.  It asked me if I wanted to update it a few days ago, and I said yes.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try setting the startup option to off and then to on again. It looks to be pointing to a wrong location.
Attached is a partial screen shot of my msconfig setting.

  • Firefox opens up automatically when windows starts up

Within the past 1-2 weeks when rebooting, or starting up windows 8 firefox opens up automatically, I went to startup and firefox isn't listed, need help on making firefox NOT startup automatically when windows 8 opens up, thank you.....

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]

    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]] article.

  • Starting Program on Computer Startup

I have an executable LabView program that I would like to start running automatically when the computer is started. How can I do this? Thanks for the help.

In order to answer your question a few more details are needed. What is your OS? Are you using some flavor of Windows or some other OS? If Windows then you can start the program at login by including a shortcut in the Startup folder. You can access this by right clicking on the start button and clicking open and then going to the startup folder (which will probably be under the programs folder). Depending on the flavor of Windows you may be able to set the program to start for some users and not for others or to start for all users.

  • Can you automatically start programs when you switch on your imac

can you automatically start programs when you switch on your imac

Yes, go to: Apple / System Preferences / User Groups / Login Items and add the Application to the list of things automatically set to start at login.
However, you should limit it to those that you need or use, because adding a lot will needlessly slow down your startup time and use more RAM.

  • How to undo the automatically start program to when a user logs on

I have followed this following directions (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc736643%28v=ws.10%29.aspx#BKMK_TSC) :
    "Using Terminal Services Configuration
    Open Terminal Services Configuration.
In the console tree, click Connections.
In the details pane, right-click the connection for which you want to specify an initial program, and then click
    Properties.
On the Environment tab, under Initial program, select
Start the following program when the user logs on. This option allows you to configure an initial program for the connection.
If you select Do not allow an initial program to be launched. Always show desktop, then Terminal Services cannot start a specified initial program automatically when a client connects to a terminal server. Instead, the user must start programs
by using the default desktop that is displayed during the Terminal Services session.
If you select Run initial program specified by user profile and Remote Desktop Connection or Terminal Services client, then the program that is specified in the default user profile and in Remote Desktop Connection or the Terminal Services
client will run when the client connects to the terminal server.
If you selected Start the following program when the user logs on, in
Program path and file name, type the path and file name of the program that you want to start when the user logs on to the terminal server.
In Start in, type the working directory path for the program, and then click
    OK."
the problem is that now all of the server users get the specific program automatically starts when logged on and i cant undo it because i cant get to the desktop or to the "tscc.msc"
is there a way to fix it?

  • Skype NOT Starting Up Automatically on Startup

    Hello,
I have always used Skype with no major problems, however, today I found that it wasn't automatically starting up even though the setting (http://puu.sh/dpAcv/0c402f5ae1.png) was never changed!
The only major change to my computer was updating using Windows Update yesterday, which installed these updates: http://puu.sh/dpAmq/5ca16afa47.png
The version of my Skype is 7.0.0.100: http://puu.sh/dpArM/720e8df18b.png
I have a high performance computer with my Windows 8.1 64-bit OS and Skype both installed on an Solid-State Drive (SSD).
I have restarted my computer many times to test if it really doesn't start up automatically, and it does not, this is not a one-time or once-in-a-month issue.
I believe it's either one of the Windows updates conflicting with the Skype autostart setting or undisclosed minor patches made to Skype. (It's kind of lame because Microsoft owns both my OS and Skype, so releasing a conflicting update is maybe rare? or not)
After my desktop is shown, with every other application started up already (Steam, nVidia GeForce Experience, Kaspersky Internet Security, etc), I can simply click the Skype icon which I have pinned to my taskbar and open Skype, and Skype completely loads within 2 seconds.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion, comment, or any additional question to my issue.
    Regards,
    Jasper

    Hello techfreak,
I have found out my issue's roots: Kaspersky Internet Security.
I updated my Kaspersky Internet Security and ran a Full Scan on my computer and it found no viruses.
Then I remembered that sometimes Skype gets blocked by Kaspersky Internet Security, for whatever reason. So I added Skype to the application Exclusion List, and re-enabled all the startup applications from the Task Manager, and rebooted 3 times with the same settings, unchanged.
The results were very good: Skype started up automatically with no problem all three times!
Thank you very much for your help techfreak!
    Regards,
    Jasper
