Start program from shortcut (NativeProcess)

Hello,
I'm trying to create an AIR app which will allow the user to drop the program's executable file into the app and then the program would start up. I've got it running but I'm facing problem when I want to drop in the executable's shortcut from the desktop. It gives me this error
NativeProcessStartupInfo.executable does not specify a valid executable file.
My question is how can I make this work also with the shortcuts. Somehow get the shortcut's target or something..? I'm on Windows and use Flash CS5.

Hi,
you can create your own copy of function module SUBMIT_REPORT and make it RFC enabled. Also create RFC destinations for necessary clients. By calling newly created FM in appropriate destination, you will maybe achieve what you need.

Start SWF from Shortcut Key

Hi,
I have my app running fine, however I need it to start from a
Shortcut Key on the phone's front page (I have a Nokia 5300). On
the phone I go to Menu->Settings->My Shortcuts->Right
Selection Key. This lets me choose from lots of stuff, however I
can't figure out how to start a Flash app.
I can point the shortcut key to Gallery, which will take me
to the Gallery and I can start it that way... however I need to
start it instantly. There's one item called "Application List"
which lets me choose an app to assign directly to the shortcut key,
however I can't get my Flash app to show up in there.
Any ideas?

the swf is not considered an application, the application is
the FL player. So what you will need to do is to create a package
with your swf, you should be able to use Jarpa to create a jar
installer for the 5300. Remember that the Nokia 5300 is a Nokia S40
which is a proprietary OS (Java). Instead the Nokia S60 platform is
based on Symbian OS.

Start program from javascript in adobe reader

Hi,
I'm trying to develop a javascript that add a button.
When the user click on the button, the javascriopt should run an executable, wait for the end of the process, then open a text file and save the pdf as the content of this text file.
I've found how to open the text file in the api reference but i can not run the exe.
Has anybody already done before?

So, i have to develop them on a computer with the pro version to correctly compile the plugin?
For testing I have copied an api file (already compiled) from the sdk folder to the plugin folder, i have disabled the certified mode but I cannot see this one into the list (see pic)
What i'm trying to do is simple:
Ad a save button, when the user click on this button, the plugin will have to run a program that write a path into a text file. After closing the program, the plugin will read the path and then save the opened pdf at this place.
I think that the acrobat pro is a little bit "overkilled" for tht stuff, don't you?
Javascript can do that:

KDE difference when starting programs from desktop or button

This is very strange. I'm using KDE 3.5.4 from normal Arch packages.
I've noticed that Firefox (installed from mozilla.org, not package) looks different when started from the desktop icon, than when started from the kicker button. The desktop icon is a 'Link to application'.
The kicker button is a 'Non-kde application'.
I wondered how it can look different, so I started each copied the process environment to a file of both (one after the other)*. I compared the environments and the interesting this is, one has
DISPLAY=:0
the other has
DISPLAY=:0.0
but that's not so important.
The one started from the desktop has GTK2_RC_FILES and GTK_RC_FILES set, the one from kicker didn't have them. The one started from the desktop also had ~/.kde/share/config/gtkrc-2.0 in GTK2_RC_FILES and this was actually what caused the difference in the firefox look.
After I removed that file, now Firefox looks the same in both cases - the way I set it up with gtk-theme-switch2 (and some personal corrections in ~/.gtkrc-2.0).
NOW, is this a BUG a FEATURE or what? Also,
- can anyone else see this behaviour?
- can anyone check in other KDE versions?
- in other distributions?
* The commands I used, in case anybody needs it:
cat /proc/PID/environ | xargs -0 -n1 | sort > firefox-env.desktop

You could try repairing the permissions while the drive is in the computer. After that, try ejecting it to see if everything is back to normal. an alternative you could try first is to relaunch the Finder from the force quit menu.

How to start programming from a novice,layman?

I learned something about SQL by installing a database XE, but when it comes to PL/SQL, I lost my mind, I cannot understand even the easist code of a procedureal programming language.
I learned much about SQL but now I think it is time for me to learn something about procedureal programming language.
But i find PL/SQL may not for novice ,
Is there any one fore a starter, ?
Is Java Ok for a beginner?
(Keep in mind this man know nothing about programming at all, he learned some Visual Basic at college, but on every exam he got less than 10 scores(100 for total), and two years past, he got nothing left behind)

Thanks, I cannot just wait and waste time for choose the best entrance.
I have to dig in on a specific language and after a while I will get more clear insights about the road to programming.
My original concern is Application makings with Database, cause first i got some knowledge about SQL and I made some simple-but-easy to use Applications by APEX, then I find if I want to move further and make more better applications I have to learn something about programming. But i find PL/SQL hard to start(or I am too lazy and I need try serveral more times) if you know nothing about programing.
So I choose to learn one, I may make mistake and I may choose a wrong language but anyway i think it is worthy to learn and then find my actual need.
You know, blind dating works , if you got no other choices.

Using Firefox 4 & Windows 7. Everytime I start Firefox from a shortcut to a website it comes up with the following error 'there was a problem sending the command to the program'. The requested website does load after this. with no problems.

If a shortcut is used while Firefox is already open the error does not occur.

As reported in earlier replies, the annoyance disappeared after I upgraded to Roboform 7.5.6, from 7.5.4.

How do you stop Audigy programs from loading at start

I posted yesterday regarding my sound card (Audigy 2 ZS Platinum) taking up a large amount of CPU.
I went into my BIOS and basically assigned every free IRQ to my PCI cards and yet again changed the slot that the card sits on. Everything is back to normal and I think I might know why, which is where my question comes in.
Thankfully, XP allows me to use the card without rebooting. If I do reboot, I have a feeling 3 things will happen.
. A pop up window will appear at the top of my screen that allows me to control certain aspects of the card.
2. A program will appear in my task bar (white with blue headphones) which allows me to run Creative Programs.
3. My CPU will jack up again.
Because I didn't have to reboot when i re-installed the card, these two programs are not running.
My question is, how do I stop those two programs from loading at start up? I've closed them down in the past after a reboot and it does not help, so obviously something is loading with them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mac Book Pro 15" mid 2009 after installing new hard drive and 8 gb memory, start up disk is still full, start up from power off is very slow, and programs open immediately after start up EX. word, excel. Help?

I installed a new 1tb WD hardrive in my mid 2009 macbook pro along with upgrading from 4gb to 8 gb.
My start up disk is still almost full, booting up is extremely slow, and programs open up by themselves once booted up ex:word, excel.
New TB drive shows up alng with 8 GB but, new hard drive not updating somehere? What am I missing? See screenshots below

Thanks for the response, but I'm looking for answers to a few of the other answers before I look at completeing the steps above.
1. Whyis the new TB drive recognized in image 1 but still have the original 256GB size still recognized(and almost full) in image 1 also? The HD should now be 1 TB, not 256 correct? If this were the case, the HD, would only be fraction of full capacity, Where is the disconnect between reconizing the installed tb HD but, it not being used?
2.Image Number 2 shows once again that the new tb internal HD is recognized. However, in image 3, the HD 256GB drive is still shown underneath the new HD. Does this show that I am misssing something, some step, related to confirming the new HD should be fully reconized instaed of this old 256 that still remains?
3. In image 4, the SATA heading, shows the TB hardrive, However, in image 5, the 256GB drive is still being shown under the storage heading? Once again, seems like I've missed some simple step to make this all the same?
4.Why is the start up from boot up soooo slow now. I was never even close to this slow(slower than PC startup slow) before the new HD was installed. IS this common when updraging to a new HD? Doesn't seem right?
5. Why now all of a sudden when the computer finally boots up are certain programs automatically opening up, word, excel, when they have never opened up like this before?
Summary: 1. New memory issues, 2. Very slow start up, 3. Programs opening up automatically at startup.
Until I address these issues, I'm not going to worry about loking through and deleting heavy folders.

If the app is opened when you shut down the Mac, untick Restore windows when logging back in. Open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items and delete iPhoto

Starting a program from the shell into a vncserver running on 5901

I started a vncserver via `vncserver -geometry 1792x1008 -alwaysshared :1` and within it, I am running xfce4 just fine. I would like to start a program from a shell outside of the vncserver. I tried the following but got errors. What am I missing?
% DISPLAY=1.0 lxterminal
(lxterminal:17489): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: 1.0

$ export DISPLAY=:1
$ lxterminal
That works over here.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

That's one of the drawback to jailbreaking. Things don't work properly.

Rescue and Recovery 4.2 Does not Launch from Start Programs Thinkvantage

I have a T61 with XP SP3. I recently installed and uninstalled the version of Ubutuno that can be booted from Windows. I played with it for a few days then uninstalled it. Then I unistalled Rescue and Recovery using Add Remove programs...I am thinking of getting a SSD and I wanted to remove large programs before I image the disk.
I changed my mind and tried to reinstall Rescue and Recovery. I got the error saying that my boot space was too small. I used the Lenevo mbr repair feature that I found on this board.
I was then able to install R&R 4.21, and I was able to create recovey disks using the create recovery disks program
However, when I try to launch Rescue and Recovery, (Start, Programs, Thinkvantage, Rescue and Recovery). the disk spins and I get the hour glass on the cursor...and the hour glass goes away after about 7 seconds...the disk continues too blink off and on, but the program will not launch. The rrservice.exe and rrpservice exe services are running. I tried disabling Kapernsky virus, and that did not help. I have rebooted several times.
Any suggestions! I will buy you a beer for sure!!

Two issues lately.
(1) I am going from vista to win7, and I have a Factory shipped Lenovo. RNR wont install.
(2) I have win7 on a factory ship, and I want to go from Hdd to SDD. USB recovery wont boot.

I take my backups to a 2nd HDD. Also, every few months, I backup to a DVD set, HDD's may last 3 years, maybe 4. You dont want your loved backup on the C drive, and HDD fails. On top of that, if you back up to the C drive, the HDD grinds away. Read C, write to C\rrbackups. Backup will run faster to 2nd HDD or USB.

You state a pristine Vista. I am guessing it was a Factory shipped Lenovo with Vista.
The TIP in the other post is if you know of this issue BEFORE windows 7 install.
At the time during Win 7 install, and it is deciding where to put itself, there is a Default Recommended and I think a drop down list of other options. This is tricky. Example, (a). park me in the current C partition. (b) park me on the whole HDD.
Did you upgrade the Vista, inplace to win7 or did you clean install win7 to a blank C partition.
Lets see if you have a recovery(vista) partition.
Go to control panel>admin tools>computer management>disk management. Check to see if other partitions show up other than the C drive. Recovery partition should be around 10 GB. Sometimes this partition is labeled IBM_Preload or similar.
Solution/workaround
I dont have 1 that i have tested. Maybe other users can offer suggestions.
(1)You could delete the Q, but this might not clean up the MBR/BCD(boot control) entries.
(2) Backup your loved win7, erase HDD, then restore. MAYBE a win7 backup allows ignoring the Q partition. I am not an expert with using win7 backup, and I dont have a q drive.
*** all this is time consuming**, risky, and may not solve the issue.
