Start Stop of an app
Hello,
I am trying to stop and start a J2EE app (war or ear) on Weblogic (say) using JMX.
When I look at Weblogic's Jython based scripting tool (WLST) and Websphere's corresponding offering (wsadmin) I do see jython and JACL functions called startApplicaton and stopApplication that seem to do the trick. That is they can be used to start and stop the apps on various targets.
I am assuming that these jython and JACL functions use JMX calls under the covers. But when I look at the JMX api, I do not see any api to start and stop a J2EE app. (I do see apis to start and stop a server, but I'm looking for the start/stop of one J2EE app). I am specifically looking at the operations that are documented on the ObjectNames.
So, how does one start or stop an application using just JMX.
Or if someone can supply the underlying code of the startApplication and stopApplication Jython functions, that will help too!
Thanks in advance!

I believe the OP was wanting to know about apps restarting after app os force closed in the task manager not about the device rebooting, this post doesnt really apply.

How do I eliminate this glitch? Music spontaneously starts, stops, stutters at random and I'm not even using that app. Repeated attempts to pause the song and close the app have no affect. Just keeps popping on and off randomly no matter what I'm doing at the time. I tried double-clicking the Home button which brings up all of the active apps, touched and held the Music icon until all the icons started wiggling, tapped the Close icon in the upper left corner of the Music app to close the app completely, but the app is still open and still randomly stuttering. I did notice that the play button icon flashes in the upper right corner of the screen when this happens and it appears and disappears in concurrence with the Music app stuttering. When the music starts, the icon appears and when it stops, the icon disappears again. When the music stutters on and off, the icon appears and disappears rapidly and in sync with that random glitch. This just started today for no apparent reason. I turned the iPad off, waited 30 seconds and turned it back on. As soon as it was finished starting up, the same music glitch began again immediately. I'm using iOS 6.1.3.
Well, no one seems to have any answers or ideas for me, I'll update what I've been able to accomplish.
I reloaded all 14 disks in the time frame of watching Lord of the Rings on Fri. nite.
Funny thing is, the first disk pulled the info from the online store! Hooray!
Wait-then all the next 13 could find no information online...what the heck is up with that? So I MANUALLY assign each disk a new track # to co-inside with each disk, spent about 2 hours doing that.
But still, itunes tells me my playlist is too large, there's not enough space on the ipod. so I unchecked 1 1/2 disks (I'd listen to 1/2 of disk 1 previously) and voila! there's my ipod full of my book. Finally. But what a lot of bother just to keep things in order! -
Guys I was using my ipad today and I decided to install an app so I started it and the circle came and it stopped and the app again said free
And my App Store turned Chinese
And when I tried to make a new Apple ID it gave me a warning you might be connected to a server pretending to be buy.iTunes.com at put your private information at risk
PLEASE help me!!Your friend and whomever they talked to are wrong. That message occurs when your device is locked to another carrier, and only that carrier can authorize an unlock request.
Apple does not unlock devices for consumers - they merely process unlock requests submitted by authorized carriers. Your friend needs to contact his carrier and request an unlock for that phone, assuming the carrier offers unlocking (not all do nor are they required to).

Music Start/Stop Times with iTunes Match causes iOS Music App to glitch
I set Start Time and Stop Time values for my music in iTunes to crop off non-music parts of tracks, but the Start/Stop Times cause the iOS Music app to glitch out when the track streams via iTunes Match. If a track has a Start Time set, the track will get stuck, and repeat the first fraction of a second of the track over and over, seemingly for the amount of the Start Time. And if the Stop Time is set, the NEXT track will glitch out. For example, if a track has a Start Time of 0:10, the track will glitch out for at least 10 seconds before the track actually starts playing. Sometimes the track never stops advances beyond 0:00.
I think the problem caused by the fact that iTunes Match is streaming the entire track so the Music app just freaks out for the duration of the Start/Stop Times.
Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a workaround?
For now, I've just been searching my 22,000 song library for tracks with Start/Stop Times and exporting new hard-cropped files, but this is tedious, takes up hard drive space, and degrades the audio with lossy-to-lossy double-compression.I'm having the exact same problem and from my research I believe that the old process of being able to turn ITM off, sync your music to your iPad, and then turn ITM back on no longer work. You are correct that going through this process wipes out your music. It's only on IOS 6.0 on my Gen 3 ipad because on my gen 1 iPad, I can't upgrade to IOS 6.0 and the old process still works fine under IOS 5.0.
In order to get around this I created a massive playlist (a superset of all my other playists) that I downloaded by using the download button in order to get local copies of my music on my ipad 3.0.
It seems to be working for now but I can't force my ipad to keep all that music local anymore. If I download other music or movies in the future (and become low on space) Apple makes the decision about what to remove from my local copy in order to fit the new content on the device. -

Something similar to 'gcstartup' for automatic start / stop
Hi @ll
Is there any similar to ‘/etc/rc.d/init.d/gcstartup’ script for an automatic start / stop for GoldenGate manager on a Server.
I use an OBEY command in a start.txt file with start_ogg.sh file, but there are an OEM agent , a listener and the database on this machine and I would like to start all of them automatic at ones.

Thank for the answer.

#!/bin/sh
#Source Function Library
SU=/bin/su
DBST="N"
if [ -f /etc/oratab ]
then
oratab="/etc/oratab"
else
if [ -f /var/opt/oracle/oratab ]
then
oratab="/var/opt/oracle/oratab"

if [ -f "$oratab" ]
then
for i in `cat $oratab | grep -v '^#' | cut -d ":" -f2`;
do
if [ -f "$i/start_goldgate.sh" ] ;
then
user=`ls -l $i/start_goldgate.sh|awk '{print $3}'`;
if [ $1 = start ];
then
DBST='Y'
$SU - $user -c "$i/start_goldgate.sh ";
else
DBST='N'
$SU - $user -c "$i/stop_goldgate.sh ";
fi;

and it works fine
the content of start_goldgate.sh
is
cd /orasoft/app/ogg
/orasoft/app/ogg/ggsci << EOF

the content of startup_ogg.txt

Mail service on start/stop of services ...
Hi,
Please let me know the way to send mail when services are started/stopped in oracle application 11.5.10.2. How to configure this on ibm aix 5.3.
Thanks,
Sai RamThere is a way to configure emails on startup/shutdown of Concurrent Manager service - but I'm not aware about any such configuration around other services (eg. Apache, Apps Listener, Forms Server etc..)
I think you'll have to do this outside Oracle's scripts if you wish to set this up - either by wrapping the calls to seeded scripts in your own custom script, or if you want a periodical probing, then via use of cron/scheduler depending on the OS you're on.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Rakesh
PS : In addition to the Concurrent Managers, I think you should be also able to achieve this for database services if you wish to do that - by use of startup and shutdown database triggers. -
[Debian] Oracle 10g Express - init.d start/stop script problem + fix
I've experienced a problem with the init.d script "oracle xe" which is used to start/stop/reload the 10g server and comes with the debian package from oss.oracle.com.
I noticed that after installing Oracle 10g in the "Debian" way (via .deb package and an apt-source oss.oracle.com), the start and stop method of the script doesn't do anything.
It's checking for the value of the "ORACLE_DBENABLED" variable, which is on my installation set to "false", because I answered during installation false to the question "do you want to start Oracle 10g at system boot?".
In my opinion that's wrong. I should always be able to start/stop the Oracle server trough the init.d script regardless of your choice starting Oracle at boot or not.
I commented out row 604 and 621 in the file "/etc/init.d/oracle-xe" :
case "$1" in
start)
if test -f "$CONFIGURATION"
then
if test "$ORACLE_DBENABLED" != "true"
then
echo "exit"
# exit 0

else
echo "Oracle Database 10g Express Edition is not configured. You must

stop)
if test -f "$CONFIGURATION"
then
if test "$ORACLE_DBENABLED" != "true"
then

# exit 0

most probably this is caused by the shebang (#!/bin/bash)
the default location of bash on RHEL (OEL/CentOS) is /bin/bash, which means that the shebang looks correct.
can you make the shebang:
#!/bin/bash -xso shelltracing is put on and execute script again?
this will make clear if it is the shebang in your script, or in another script. -
I can browse the web but when I go to play video or you tube it will start stop over and over almost like it is buffering could this be the router all other non iPad devices work
How are you trying to play them, in the iTunes store or the Music and Videos apps ? Downloaded and synced music and videos should be in the Music and Videos apps, and you can stop content that is only in the cloud from showing in them via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music and Videos 'off' (under the 'show all' heading).
If you don't have your music and films/TV shows in those two apps then you should be able to download them into those apps via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app. -
Shell script to start, stop and restart a JAR
Hi everyone,
Does anyone have idea to write a shell script to start, stop and restart a JAR under linux? it can indicate a method or parameter? Thanks!
this JAR inculdes a class with main method like this:
public class Client(){
public Client(String name){
public void stopClient(){
public static void main(String[] args){
new Client("/tmp/text.log");
}Does anyone have idea to write a shell script to
start, stop and restart a JAR under linux? That part isn't really clear.
Start would be java -jar myjar.jar.
Stop could either be kill, which kills the whole process; kill -TSTP, which suspends the process, or some application-specific communication such as sending something over a port; or putting something into a file or something.
Restart could just be the same as start (if stop is just kill); kill -CONT, if stop was kill -TSTP; or some other app-specific communication. -

Allow normal user to start/stop Tomcat
Hi,
Recently I deployed a web app at client's pc running on WinXP SP2. However, I'm not allowed admin rights to that local machine. Is there a way to allow normal user ( like my case) to start/stop Apache Tomcat services without requesting my client to log in as admin to perform this simple task?
Thanks.
Zsalafrance wrote:A simple way would be to write a small C program to run systemctl setuid root.
So perhaps like this?
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <unistd.h>
int main(void)
execl("/usr/bin/systemctl", "systemctl", "start", "calibre", NULL);
return(EXIT_SUCCESS);
compiled it, then "chown root:root test", "chmod u+s test" and it worked.
But is this safe? I have absolutely no knowledge about potential security issues...
I also have thought about periodically restarting calibre, but on the Raspberry Pi, with it's slow ARM, the start takes ages and the processor is completely busy with that task for some minutes.
And that's the reason why I also want to avoid starting an entire second systemd session... Or is this not that resource intensive? -
