I found the following info:
Open Job Scheduling Without Dialog (Including COMMIT WORK)
Use JOB_OPEN to create a background job.  The function module returns the unique ID number which, together with the job name, is required for identifying the job.
Once you have "opened" a job, you can add job steps to it with JOB_SUBMIT and submit the job for processing with JOB_CLOSE.
I think you will first have to use the JOB_SUBMIT  statement like mentioned above

  • Creation of background job from SE38

    hello all...
In the selection screen of my report program, there are two radiobuttons - read mode or update mode.
In read mode, the program reads an excel file and gives the output in teh form of errors, if at all, after some chekcs on this excel file.
In update mode, the program should check the excel file, get an internal table with errors from the excel file as well as run BDC for the correct records in excel file. So the output here has two blocks, first one - errors in excel file, second one - errors in BDC update.
But this update mode should run in background.
HOW TO CALL THE BACKGROUND JOB FROM THIS REPORT PROGRAMME when the update mode is selected??
    Advance Thanks
    omkar

    Hi Vishal,
    1. How are u running the BDC ?
    2. If u are using call transaction syntax,
then there is an extension to it.
        MODE mode
(See help F1 on call transaction)
The processing mode can take the following values:
    'A' Display screen
'E' Display only if an error occurs
    'N' Do not display
'P' Do not display; debugging possible
    3. We can use N
    4. N means, it won't display any screens
       of that BDC transaction.
    5. It does not exactly mean the BACKGROUND JOB
       generated thru sm36.

  • Kicking off Background Job from Another SAP system

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to kick off a background job from a separate SAP system??
i.e I have a job on our CRM system that is dependant on a Job finishing from our ECC6 system first.
Does anyone know how to do this?  I know I might be able to use events, is there anything else I should be making use of??
    Many Thanks

    Hi Daniel,
Guess there is one more solution. In system A write a report (let us name it X) that would trigger a job in system B through an RFC call.
Now in System A create a job with 2 steps. First step would be normal one, the second one for report X. Only when step 1 is over would step 2 start. So indirectly end of the existing Job A would trigger the required Job B.
    Regards.

  • Creating a Step for Background Job from within ABAP Program

Step-1: I have a Report in ECC, which is scheduled as Background Job, which writes the file to the Application Server(UNIX)
Step-2:  Trigger a Unix Command to ftp the file to other server.
    Both Step-1 & Step-2 can be done from SM36.
    Another Scenario:
Users can run the report in background from SE38 or using the transaction code for the report, In this case we want to call the external command.
Instead of calling the External Command as below in the report, I want to create a Step from within the program when it is scheduled in background mode.
CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD lc_unixcom.    [ Here lc_unixcom has the External Command ].
    Any ideas??? Appreciate help.

    Hi,
For submitting a report step, you may use either SUBMIT ... VIA JOB ... or JOB_SUBMIT function module.
For external commands, this should be done only by calling JOB_SUBMIT function module.

  • Start background Job when another is finished (NOT with the JobSteps)

    Hi guys,
    i need your help.
I've already searched here in forum, but i wasn't able to find a good solution.
    I have this problem.
I have a program that create a background job with the FM FM JOB_OPEN.. SUBMIT report with parameters .. JOB_CLOSE.
I want that if i run this report again (20 secs after for example) it does:
    - Check if there is an already running Job with the same name (means with state 'R') (This task is simply, with a select on TBTO table)
    - If it's found, it have to create a new job with the same name that starts automatically AFTER the first running job is finished (don't care about the end-state of the first job).
I've already tried with pred_jobcount & PRED_JOBNAME parameters of the JOB_CLOSE FM but it doesen't works!
The JOB_CLOSE, creates a job in Planned state. But when the first Job is finished, the second job(Planned) doesen't start automatically.
In this scenario, i CANNOT use endless loops (wait until the first job is finished and then submit the second) Job-steps (one job that contains multiple steps) events (i have to start only one job after the predecessor is finished), because this report could be run many times and each job should be collected like a "stack" (only when the first job is finshed the second "registered" should be started and so on, until the aren't more planned jobs).

    Hi Veda
i can tell u but ... some reward points are very appreciated ....
    I'm joking (of course)
    Here the question:
I have a program (called A) that submit a new program (called B) with the JOB_OPEN .. submit JOB_CLOSE. The program B should start only if another program B (called before for example) is finished.
    Here the solution.
I add a parameter (with no-display clausole) to the program B. In this parameter i pass to the program, the job number returned by the JOB_OPEN function.
When i create the JOB with the function, the "jobname" parameter is set with value 'G_DELIVERY' (Here u can change the name of the job as u want : this is the jobname that u see in SM37 transaction).
In the start-of-selection of program B i put a "waiting" procedure like this :
First i save a timestamp of system-date and system-time (called for example r_date and r_time)
select from table TBTCO all the jobs called "G_DELIVERY" with jobnumber <> from the jobnumber parameter (that means exclude itselfs)  with status running ('R')  -> that have startdate /starttime less than the r_date and r_time <- (this is the key of the selection that solve the problem).
if it is found (means there is another running job started before this one).
wait up to 60 seconds. "for example
    repeat the selection.
    endif.
When the job called before ends, this one programs exits from the loop and continues. If u submit more programs "B", they'll works like a stack.
I should say to u just one thing.... I solved my problem in another way (because i've changed the logic so this problem was no more) so i didn't implemented that logic, but it should works very good.
    Try it and tell me!
    Bye

  • Pass parameter to background job from report

    Hi All,
    I have following requirement.
I am executing a Report. At end of report I am executing an event.
On the bases of event a background job runs.
Problem is that, I want to pass one field data from report to background job.
I already tested SET PARAMETER/GET PARAMETER is not working.
Is there any way any one can suggest, without using Tables.
    Regards

    Hi,
If you submit via job it will not be executing the program ..After SUBMIT statement the control will come to the program immediately..
    Check this example..
    DATA: p_jobcnt LIKE tbtcjob-jobcount,
          l_release(1) TYPE c.

  • Cycles lock in background job of program RKGALKSV5

    Hello All,
Can we enter more than 1 cycle on the selection screen field (where it says ' Enter Cycles')  when we execute program RKGALKSV5 (Actual Distribution)? In the same job, can we enter more than 1 cycle for this program? We are getting locks for cycle run group 0000 and the first cycle entered (the variant has 3 cycles). Does anyone else have same issue?
    Appreciate your help!
    Thanks,
    Suma

    Hello Ravi,
    Thanks for the help.
I looked at the note Note 416507 - ALLOCATION: Troubleshooting guide. I did not find any relevant information regarding the locks in cycles. The exact error message I am getting is 'Cycle XXXXXXXXXX 01/01/2007 cannot be started because run group 0000 is locked.' - Error message GA 562.
I checked couple of SAP notes. Note 70094 - ALLOCATION: lock problem during background processing and Note 967372 - New GL or SL allocation: explaining the lock concept.
Both the notes explained the lock concept either between cycles running for different company codes or cycles running for different cycle run groups within the same company code. But in our system, we have only one company code and default cycle run group 0000 and only 1 job which executes 3 cycles in the program RKGALKSV5.
So I had a question, if we can run 3 cycles in the same program, in a single job, for a default cycle run group 0000 within the same company code.
    Thanks,
    Suma

  • Background Job BICCMS_111_20100526* (program RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS)

    Dear Friends,
We are using BI 7 system.
We have restarted the system few days back.
After the restart we have observed that there is a job running for every hour.
The job name starts with BICCMS_111_20100526* (It is executing a program called program RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS)
The Job log displays the below messages:
    Job started
Step 001 started (program RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS, variant &0000000207130, user ID ALEREMOTE)
Process chain COMMUNITIES_NEWSLETTER has status "G" (log ID 2AN8LZN1DCCFF9WLZPITD5ZL7)
Process chain COMMUNITIES_NEWSLETTER has status "G" (log ID D3VZG4S9FEZHZ2KVD0CV9PGFF)
Process chain COMMUNITIES_NEWSLETTER has status "G" (log ID B0LDW40H15U898R2RWYX1HJZF)
It is executing a program (RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS) which is checking the status of the each process chains multiple times.
The job is occupying the system resources quite frequently and affecting the data loads.
Could you please let us know what is this Job doing ?
How to stop this Job (Not able to stop it in SM37) ?
What are the consequences of stoping this Job ?
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hi Rama,
    Thank you for the reply.
The problem here is i am not able to find the scheduled/released job with that name.
I have stopped the active job (SM37) and i have killed the work process (SM50) many times which is just stopping the current active job.
But after an hour time the job is again getting executed.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

  • Handle submit program for background jobs in RFC FM to send email in ITS

    Hi all
I am facing a problem in ITS, i.e. I have called a RFC Function Module on the page load event of one of the HTML template. In that FM I have used <b>submit program</b>. This RFC FM is working fine in background i.e. it is sending pdf as email to a particular email address
but in the frontend it is not responding.
I wanted to ask whether we can handle submit <program-name> in background job from ITS
<b>If you are unable to understand the problem i can share with you my code as well.</b>
    Thanks
    Ekta Tuli

    Hi Tobias
The Function Module <b>ZV_FUNC_CCK_EMAIL_PDF</b> is used to generate the email with pdf as attachement. it is generating email at backend but not in frontend.

  • Start job from portlet

    Hi,
I try to start a job from a portlet with this the following code:
    IPTObjectManager obm = ipSession.GetObjectManagers(PT_CLASSIDS.PT_JOB_ID); IPTJob job = (IPTJob)obm.Open(jobId,true); serverCtx = (IPTServerContext)job.GetInterfaces("IPTServerContext"); IPTSchedule sched = job.GetSchedule(); PTDateTime dt = new PTDateTime(new Date()); sched.SetStartTimestamp(dt); serverCtx.Store(); serverCtx.UnlockObject();
The jobId is correct (if I omit the UnlockObject call the right job is still locked) and I the code does not catch any exception. The report from PTSpy is ok (no error logged).
    Can enyone help me?
    My portal version si 5.0.1
    Thanks

A little more information. We can start the job from a OS or database script, and have access to the OEM repository if needed.
Note: We are running Grid Control 10.2.0.3.
    Thanks Again,
    Gary

  • How to identify what are all the events are created in background jobs?

    Hi all,
how to identify what are all the events are created for  background jobs. And what events gets triggered for a particular job.
    thanxs
    haritha

    Hi Haritha,
JOB is a program which starts to a determined point of time and executes some standard programs in the system. JOBs can be planed to a determined point of time on the regular basis (every night, for example) or to some discret time moments. So, the JOB can be planed and then will be started automatically without the manual start.
Realtime programs are understood in the most cases as actual program execution which is started by somebody to the actual moment of time.
Typically per JOBs some special processes will be started that should be executed automatically and regularly: for example, IDOC application, some correction reports, statistic updates etc.
Standard jobs are those background jobs that should be run regularly in a production SAP System These jobs are usually jobs that clean up parts of the system, such as by deleting old spool requests.
    Use
As of Release 4.6C, the Job Definition transaction ( sm36 ) provides a list of important standard jobs, which you can schedule, monitor, and edit.
Standard jobs are those background jobs that should be run regularly in a production SAP System. These jobs are usually jobs that clean up parts of the system, such as by deleting old spool requests.
for more information you can go thru the following thread:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/24/b884388b81ea55e10000009b38f842/frameset.htm
    About Events:
Events have meaning only in the background processing system. You can use events only to start background jobs.
Triggering an event notifies the background processing system that a named condition has been reached. The background processing system reacts by starting any jobs that were waiting for the event.
    Types of Events:
There are two types of events:
1.)System events are defined by SAP. These events are triggered automatically when such system changes as the activation of a new operation mode take place.
2.)User events are events that you define yourself. You must trigger these events yourself from ABAP or from external programs. You could, for example, signal the arrival of external data to be read into the SAP system by using an external program to trigger a background processing event. The event scheduler processes an event if the event is defined in the system.
For example, if a system (System 1) receives an event from another system (System 2), the event scheduler of System 1 processes the event only if it is defined in System 1. That event does not need to be defined in System 2 (the sending system).
You define an event by assigning a name (EVENTID) to it. When defining an event, you do not define the event arguments.
for more information you can go thru the following thread:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/fa/096e2a543b11d1898e0000e8322d00/frameset.htm
When you schedule the process chain or infopackages the jobs associated with it run in the background mode. In case you want to create a job for a specific activity you can do so in SM36. You would be creating jobs that would get executed in any one of the options:
    1. Immediate
    2. Date & Time
    3. After event.
    4. After job.
    5. At Operation mode.
In case you want to view the job logs go to sm37.
Also Pls check DB02 for database performance and ST03 for workload .
Analyse u will have an idea ,
*pls assign points,if info is useful**
