Starting Servers with Ant

Hi,
I am using WLS 8.1 SP2 and the Ant that comes with it to start my managed server.
However, as documented the server VM shuts when the Ant script finishes. I have
tried adding fork="true" to my <wlserver> task but this still does not work. I
have resorted to using an <exec> task and a shell script but this does not seem
as nice.
Can anyone offer some advice?

Geoff

Well my examples assumed you were starting a managed server that was
connecting an admin server listening @ t3://127.0.0.1:7001. If your admin
server isn't listening at that address and on that port you'll need to
obviously make changes to the build file ;-) but I know it will work as I
pulled the example straight from a project build file. You could also
enable MSI on the servers but that's not an ellegant sollution just to get
around an error. Let me know if it works for you ;-)

Ryan,
I tried that but I got this:
[java] <05-Jul-2004 08:14:42 o'clock BST> <Error> <Management><BEA-141137>
<Managed Server was attempting to boot in Managed Server Independencemode, but
was unable to complete the boot process as the Managed Server was unableto locate
the cached configuration file:/opt/apps/bea/user_projects/domains/mydomain/./msi-config.xml>

Which is fair given I do not have one of those files! Any suggestions?

Geoff,
You could try:
<java classname="weblogic.Server" fork="yes"
dir="${env.WEBLOGIC_DOMAIN}">
<jvmarg value="-Xms32m"/>
<jvmarg value="-Xmx32m"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.Name" value="server1"/>
<sysproperty key="bea.home" value="${BEA_HOME}"/>
<!-- store the paswords in a user config file for production
servers -->
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.username" value="system"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.password" value="weblogic"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.server"
value="t3://127.0.0.1:7001"/>
<sysproperty key="java.security.policy"
value="${WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic.policy"/>
</java>
If you want to start more than one with the same script
<parallel>
<java classname="weblogic.Server" fork="yes"
dir="${env.WEBLOGIC_DOMAIN}">
<jvmarg value="-Xms32m"/>
<jvmarg value="-Xmx32m"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.Name" value="server1"/>
<sysproperty key="bea.home" value="${BEA_HOME}"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.username" value="system"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.password" value="weblogic"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.server"
value="t3://127.0.0.1:7001"/>
<sysproperty key="java.security.policy"
value="${WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic.policy"/>
</java>
<java classname="weblogic.Server" fork="yes"
dir="${env.WEBLOGIC_DOMAIN}">
<jvmarg value="-Xms32m"/>
<jvmarg value="-Xmx32m"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.Name" value="server2"/>
<sysproperty key="bea.home" value="${BEA_HOME}"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.username" value="system"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.password" value="weblogic"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.server"
value="t3://127.0.0.1:7001"/>
<sysproperty key="java.security.policy"
value="${WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic.policy"/>
</java>
</parallel>
HTH, someone else might have a better idea :)

    Unfortunately the whole text is condensed because of a forum bug. I hope, you still read it.
    With Bea 8 it was possible to start the Bea application server asynchronously with Ant.
    But I couldn't start <b>Bea 9</b> asynchronously with Ant. I get this error:

    spawn also does not allow timeout
    finally, spawn is not compatible with a nested I/O <redirector>

    Why doesn't it work? What Ant script I need to start Bea 9 application server <b>asynchrously</b>?
    I need this for our Daily Build. In the middle of the automatical building process the application server needs to be started <b>automatically</b>.

  • Debugging question (project with Ant)

    Hi,
    Could anyone tell me how to debug a project with Ant?
    There is no main class to execute.
    Only Ant script runs it as below.
    Thanks in advance,
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <project basedir="." default="all" name="run1">
    <target name="all">
    <java classname="zeus.agents.ANServer" failonerror="true" fork="true">
    <arg line="Nameserver2 -t 0.1 -f dns.db"/>
    </java>
    </target>
    </project>

    how simple was that... Thanks Mark.
    Now I have another problem - how can I specify deployment targets when creating a new dataspace? I'm using a DspCommonCommands.py script, which targets deployments to any server and cluster in the specified domain:
    targets = wlst.get('Targets')
    wlst.invoke('createDataSpace',[dataspaceName,targets],['java.lang.String','java.util.Set'])
    which results in 2 problems:
    1. targeting projects to inappropriate servers (like AdminServer)
    2. targeting project to cluster and all servers belonging to that cluster (which results in errors when trying to start corresponding request_handlers application)
    I thought I can simply list the names of clusters I would like the project to be targeted to, but it results in:
    javax.management.RuntimeOperationsException: RuntimeException occured trying to invoke operation createDataSpace
    Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: argument type mismatch
    I can't find the class with createDataSpace() method to check what it's all about and how should I format the target names.

  • How to create reports servers with the same name in two nodes in Reports

    Greetings
    We are migrating Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) to a better hardware infrastructure with high availability. We want to provide 2 new Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) in High availability and we want to avoid modify the existing forms and reports code, but the code is looking for a specific reports server name when calling reports, but I couldn't create the same reports server name in the both oas machines, I could create the reports server in only one node. I want to create a reports server with the same name in both nodes but it is not possible. I know that there is a procedure to do that in 10.1,2 (Note 437228.1, How to Create Two Reports Servers With the Same Name in the Same Subnet) but I couldn't find the equivalent procedure in 9.0.4.
    Anybody kwows how to create a reports server with the same name in two nodes using 10g (9.0.4)

  • Hard disk in mums macbook failed, bought a new one, formatted it first. Have tried starting it with every possible key and I either get flashing question mark folder or a cursor.

    Hard disk in mums macbook failed, bought a new one, used sata adapter cable to format it for mac first. Connected it and have tried starting it with every possible key combination and I either get flashing question mark folder or a cursor. A disk is stuck in it so I can't boot from OSX, and yes I have tried every option of starting to try and eject disk but none work. HELP ME!

    Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
    Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
          left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
          your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
    If this fails then try this:
    Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.
    If you have a 2010 MBP or later, then you can use Internet Recovery. Start by rebooting the computer. At the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION-R keys until a Globe appears in the upper part of the screen. This process can take upwards of 15 minutes to get connected to the Apple network servers. You should eventually see the utility screen of the Recovery HD. You may now go about the process to install Mountain Lion:
    Install Lion/Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
    Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    then everything works perfectly.
    I’ve tried to remove the WLS included Ant version to avoid conflicts with Ant

    to do with Ant 1.6.1.
    Here’s my example code:
    <project name="wlcompile_test" default="test" basedir=".">
         <target name="test" depends="init">
    <wlcompile srcdir="${src.dir}" destdir="${build.dir}">
    <javac debug="${build.debuginfo}" debuglevel="${build.debuglevel}"
    nowarn="${build.nowarn}" deprecation="${build.deprecated}" source="${build.source.version}"/>
    </wlcompile>
         </target>
    <target name="clean" depends="init">
    <delete dir="${build.dir}"/>
    </target>
    <target name="init">
    <taskdef name="wlcompile" classname="weblogic.ant.taskdefs.build.WLCompileTask"
    classpath="C:\P2Development\weblogic.jar"/>
    <property name="src.dir" value="src"/>
    <property name="build.dir" value="classes"/>
    <property name="build.compiler" value="modern"/>
    <property name="build.compiler.pedantic" value="true"/>
    <property name="build.debuginfo" value="true"/>
    <property name="build.debuglevel" value="lines,vars,source"/>
    <property name="build.deprecated" value="false"/>
    <property name="build.nowarn" value="off"/>
    <property name="build.source.version" value="1.4"/>
    <mkdir dir="${build.dir}"/>
    </target>
    </project>
    And I try to run “ant test”
    It doesn’t work with Ant 1.6.1 and weblogic.jar from WLS 8.1 SP1 and SP2. But
    it works perfectly if I change to Ant 1.5.3.

    Yes, this one is fixed in 8.1 SP3. If you need a patch before then,
    contact [email protected] and reference CR136493.

  • How to start workin with WebLogic 11g

    Hi!.
    can anyone out there guide me with how to start working with Weblogic..
    i have made a jsp page but cant deploy it.. actually i know how to on Weblogic 8 but not on this version of the S/W...
    Please give a detailed guiding about where to paste the jsp , servelets ant other pages in my folder because i cant find out where i have to paste the files to deploy them... and i cant find the weblogic builder...
    Please..

    Developing and deploying of web applications/ Enterprise applications remains the same as in wls 81.
    Please refer the following doc for deployment : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/e13702/understanding.htm#i1051084

  • Multiple report servers - with different uifont.ali

    Can we have multiple report servers with different NLS_LANG?
    They all should be started as windows service. Also I would like to have them look at different uifont.ali. The reason is that we want to have the same report run with different fonts in different languages. This way I can map the fonts in uifont.ali as I want.
    Is it possible?

    I don't think this is possible with multiple reports servers with one Oracle 9iAS home. You will have to install multiple 9iAS, in different Oracle homes.
    This also means that you have different URL's (port numbers) for the two environments.
    I have used this configuration before to install a test and production environment on one web server. Changing the conf files, variables etc. in the test environment doesn't influence the production environment that way.

  • Compile AIR application with Ant (WindowedApplication could not be found)

    I'm trying to compile my AIR application with Ant, using the mxmlc Ant Task. It seems to compile fine, and I get a .swf, but when I try to run it with ADL, I get the message "Class mx.core::WindowedApplication could not be found." It looks like the AIR libraries aren't being included properly.
    Here's my mxmlc task:
    Class mx.core::WindowedApplication could not be found.
    <mxmlc
         file="${MAIN_MXML}"
         output="${DEPLOY_DIR}/MyApp.swf"
         compatibility-version="3"
         locale="en_US"
         static-rsls="true"
         debug="${DEBUG_FLAG}"
         optimize="true"
         link-report="${DEPLOY_DIR}/report.xml"
         configname="air">
         <load-config filename="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/air-config.xml" />
         <library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/libs" append="true">
              <include name="*.swc" />
         </library-path>
         <library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/libs/air" append="true">
              <include name="*.swc" />
         </library-path>
         <library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/locale" append="true">
              <include name="{locale}" />
         </library-path>
         <source-path path-element="${SRC_DIR}" />
    </mxmlc>
    Any idea why this is happening? I've tried not including the load-config section and not including the library paths, but it's always the same result - it can't find WindowedApplication.
    Thanks!

    Hi, Guys!
    I ran into the same problem when i tried to write an ant-script to compile the asDocs for my project.
    After reading shades post i added the air-config (This resolved the WindowApplication couldn't be found error, because it adds all the air libs i guess)
    but lead to the problem that the flex vector-class wasn't found. As Vector is flashplayer 10.0.0 i also
    used the target-player parameter (This fixed that nicely).
    But now i got the problem that i get lots of this error msgs: DepartmentItemRendererClass.as(11):
    Error: The private attribute may be used only on class property definitions.
    I guess the problem now is that ant doesn't understand that the AS-Classes producing that errors are not used as
    standalone-classes. To divide my mxml and AS-Code i import external AS-Classes to my MXML
    like that <mx:Script source="ascodeClass.as" />
    Is there a solution allowing me to use this pattern and still compile my asDoc with ant?
    It confuses me a little, because Ant-Scripts worked to compile the project.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Start-mdbs-with-application does not work

    Hi,

    We have configured a System module with a ConnectionFactory on a default targetting and a Queue deployed on the JMS Server. The jndi names for the ConnectionFactory and the Queue have been properly configured.
    Apparently, the container tries to bind the MDBs with their relative destination, but is unable to proceed due to the cluster jndi not having been loaded yet. According to the documentation, we could manage to avoid this early binding by specifying
    <wls:start-mdbs-with-application>true</wls:start-mdbs-with-application>
    in weblogic-application.xml. I tried (also using false, because the documentation is not that clear in this aspect), but without any result. Is there a reason why we cannot manage to have the mdbs connecting later with their destination?
    Also, we got a warning message in the deployment page, claming that the MDBs in the server that is not hosting the JMS server are not connected to their destination. They stuck on state "initializing". While, if we manually resume the connection, via console, the state turns to "Connected". Are these issues correlated somehow?
    Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    - Francesco.

    Hi Francesco,
    From the link below (i.e. Oracle link for WLS-11g) it states that
    “Set to false to defer message processing until after WebLogic Server opens its listen port.”
    Search for: start-mdbs-with-application
    Link-1 http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e15493/summary.htm
    *# Conclusion:*
    This means that “false” should have resolved your issue but it is not so this might be a bug. Similar bug was seen in WLS-9.2 version which was fixed in WLS-9.2 Mp-1 version check out the link below.
    Search for: CR293982 or CR299012
    Link-2 http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/issues/known_resolved.html
    However if it was fixed in WLS 9.2 Mp-1 then the same issue is most probably taken care in WLS 10.x.x version also.
    *# Suggestion:*
    - Try to set “start-mdbs-with-application” as “true” and check if that works for you.
    This is because if you read the “Link-1″ carefully it states that “With default setting of true”, however when you check the “Default” column it shows “false”. Hence cant say which one is default. It might be document bug as well. However you have tried it so you can skip this suggestion.
    *# How to solve this issue:*
    1) Create a simple test case to prove that “start-mdbs-with-application” when set as “false” does not work.
    2) Open a ticket with Oracle and provide all the details with the test case and let them do their job.
    Hope this information helps.

  • My address book and iPhone pics have become low resolution.  Is there a way I can prevent this from happening when I start out with a higher resolution picture?

    I guess I squeezed my entire issue into the subject line.  lol   When I sync my iphone to my laptop I notice that all my address book pics and iphone pics have become lower resolution, even though I started out with the resolution that I really needed to produce decenty address book printouts.  I doubt I can correct the losses of resolution that have occurred but can anyone help me figure out how to prevent future losses?  Thank you!

    Plugins usually are installed externally to Firefox. However, you can disable them in Firefox so that Firefox does not use them.
    SearchReset is supposed to automate the task of resetting certain preferences, but you still can edit them manually if necessary.
    '''''Address Bar Search'''''
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''keyword''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Right-click '''keyword.URL''' and choose Reset. This should restore Google as the default for address bar search.
    Does that work?
    '''''Search Box'''''
    Usually it works to choose your preferred search engine from the drop-down. To remove an unwanted search engine plugin, usually the Manage Search Engines... choice at the bottom of the drop-down takes care of it.
    Do either of those work?
    There might be another way to hijack that search box; I think some of the other frequent responders probably are more familiar with it than I am.

  • JSP problem with ANT

    Hello!
    I built up a web site and I want to test them using ANT. It works fine with other web page, however it doesn't work with web pages with "session" statement. For example in login.jsp I have the following statement
    session.setAttribute("user", request.getParameter("userName"));
    And if the user's name and password are correct, the user is directed to home.jsp, where i have the following statement to retrieve the user's name:
    String id=session.getAttribute("user").toString();
    In order to test the above 2 pages with ANT, I have the following code in builder.xml:
    <?xml version='1.0'?>
    <project name="proj" default="test" basedir=".">
    <target name="test">
    <get src="http://path/login.jsp?userName=id&passWord=1111" dest="1.html" />
    </target>
    </project>
    When I run the script, I get the error that the home.jsp cannot be opened (see below)
    [get] Error opening connection java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: http://path/home.jsp
    I am pretty sure the above error is caused by the "session" statement, because if I remove the statement in home.jsp, the page can be correctly opened. But I really need the "session" statement, Can someone tell me how to deal with it?
    thanks a million.

    Usually with a 500 error there's more detail in a server log somewhere. Can you find anything in stderr.log or some such?
