Can't get `netctl start` to work with example eth0-dhcp profile
So I recently decided to go ahead and install netctl. I had netcfg previously. First thing I did was disable my old systemd unit for netcfg after upgrading.
Then I proceeded with using the example profile
cp /etc/netctl/examples/ethernet-dhcp /etc/netctl/eth0-dhcp
netctl start eth0-dhcp
But then, instead of it working, I get an error. I decided to reboot to see if the new kernel would affect it. It didn't. This is the error I got:

Somehow, the service is loaded, but not active. The error message appears to just be that the interface is already up... which doesn't make sense. If I manually use `ifconfig eth0 down` before calling it, then I get

If I then reenable eth0, then I still get the "is already up" message, despite neither dhclient nor dhcpcd being active. Also, at this point the interface does not have an IP address either.
How do I fix this? Why does it constantly say the interface is already up?

I temporarily "fixed" this by using ForceConnect=yes as indicated here: https://github.com/joukewitteveen/netctl/issues/11 However, I think using that is quite a hack, so maybe someone can solve what the underlying cause is

I did this. neither dhcpcd or dhclient were running through any of this. Also, when I set the link down, then I got the error message "network not ready" discussed in the second error message in my post -
Java Web Start not working with Proxy
I have Java Web Start program not listening to proxy settings. It tries to access localhost using our proxy settings, but with no user name or password. I'm wondering if Java Web Start has proxy settings somewhere. I'm not sure since when we disable the proxy settings the program works without issue. Any thoughts?
ThanksFor instance Safari uses those System Proxy settings, Firefox uses it's own!

My first iBook suffered from persistent KPs on start up. Eventually I resolved the issue by cleaning the cache files. There are a number of cheap/free share ware apps. My favourite is Tiger (or Leopard) Cache Cleaner from here: http://www.northernsoftworks.com/

LrPhoto:getContainedPublishedCollections() to work with Smart Collection
I have customized the original flickr publish plugin to suit my liking and to model the behavior of Flickr especially the Photostream and Photosets concept. I love the improve plugin i created very much. When I started to work with smart collections to publish my photos to flickr.most of the functionality and behavior of flickr I had created breakdown as I rely heavily on LrPhoto:getContainedPublishedCollections() to interconnect each photoset (collection). Apparently this function doesn't work with smart collection. My question would be
1. For the next update of lightroom, I hope to see the function LrPhoto:getContainedPublishedCollections() to also work with Smart Collections.
2. For the time being is there any alternative way to reference smart collections from a LrPhoto?

Working with OLAP Workbooks Tutorial
Hi all!
I'm new to BI and I'm learning BI discoverer at the moment. I have installed Sales History schema (though with problems and I had to create and fill some tables additionally). I have completed the Working with Relational Workbooks successfully but now I have a problem with starting the Working with OLAP Workbooks Tutorial. The thing is, there is no objects found in any of the Discoverer Workbooks folders, so there is no Corporate Profitability workbook. Can these be because of the installation problems I had or are there just some privileges missing for SCOTT user? It is in Oracle Discoverer Catalog Selected Users/Roles group.
Can somebody please tell me what could be wrong? Or maybe a list what objects should exists in database so I can check if the installation created them successfully.

ByeI think the workbooks created with OLAP are stored in catalog. Is it ok to export and import the catalog.

Final Cut Pro X - working with fps
Hello,
I started to work with FCPX 10.1.1 and I am not sure about one thing. I have GoPro camera and shoot in 60fps because I want to slow down some shots. But when I start new project I set FullHD quality and jsut 30fps. What does happen with my 60fps video when I import it here? Does it change to 30fps?
I wanted to have final video in 30fps, because it's enough for watching but now when I want to slow down some shots it's not so smooth. I guess it's beause my 60fps was transformed to 30fps. Is it possible to somehow have just some clips in 60fps?
Or maybe it would be better to have all movie in 60 fps and at the export transfer to 30fps? I don't know.

'rate conform' has nothing to do with Compounds.
drag your 60fps in your 30fps project.
=> FCPX will 'adopt' the playback speed, so 1sec is kept 1sec.
select that clip, apply 'automatic' - and your 60fps will be automatically 'stretched' to your 30fps timeline = 50% slow-mo.

Baud rate and parity are set correctly, RS-232 cable is also connected correctly. My QuickBasic program has no problems to read and write to the Multimeter. It is obviously a software problem: the same error is persistent if I disconnect RS-232 cable.
I downloaded NI-VISA 2.6 for Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP frorm digital.ni.com and installed it. But it did not help.

Is there a way to make an audio clip not cover the whole project in iMovie? I want to add audio clip or song and let it start at a certain point in the project. Whenever I add audio or song it covers the whole project. I'm working with iMovie on IPad!

First the link is a tutorial for iMovie on a Mac. I'm using iMovie on iPad so the steps are inapplicable.
Second it is only possible for me to manipulate the end part of the sound clip to whichever duration I want. But I can't do the same with the 'beginning' of the sound clip.
I simply want to place some photos in the beginning of my video with no sound in the background then after like 2 secs I want to start the music clip. For some reason that is not possible! Cause every time I drop the music clip unto my project timeline it automatically place it self along with the first frame in the project! And consequently the photos and music are forced to start together.

It appears to be a FW problem, possibly flaky case, or drive problem.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion I cannot access a PGP drive which was generated under snow leopard. PGP does not start. When I try to start I just receive a message that Lion cannot work with PGP. How can I now access important and confifential informatio which I have stored in PGP (snow leopard). Do I have to move back to snow leopard. If so, how can I do this?

Oh, so this is where I ask my question. Sorry, first time here. As I was saying in my long intro, the gray screen come up and the thing is spinning at the bottom, but nothing happens. Then the fan starts reving up like it is about to explode and I have to manually shut it off. A friend told me to start it up with the OS disk and then go to utilities. I couldn't find the thing, so I went out and bought another. Needless to say, it didn't work. Is there a key stroke to help jump start the machine? How can I get into this thing? I would prefer not to take it in because there are a lot of things on there I don't want just anyone to have access to.Thanks, in advance, for your help!

Your drive does need to be repaired, and best things to buy are another backup recovery drive, with a small OS X partition; a copy of Disk Warrior is expensive @ $90 but excellent and best.
Never bother with or use the drive or reinstall while there are errors. Don't take a "clean' bill from Apple Disk Utility to mean there are no errors. Only that it didn't find what it looked for.

Make sure to have multiple backup sets and of your system so if there is a serious problem, you can just erase and restore to be back runninig.
Sounds like your G5 though needs PMU reset, not PRAM, and the best way for those is to clear nvram instead. might even want to check for dust; tell what System Profile says (later) as to "PowerMacX,Y" or "MacProX,1"

The Utility menu is on the menu bar of an "OS X Install DVD" and at the point where you get to but stop at "install....' for OS X. you probably do need to install OS X on another drive to work from.
Oh, a real severe issue and damage to the drive directory or filesystem CAN in cases prevent booting from DVD (the system still tries to find and see what boot volumes are present) and can help to pull or disconnect the drive. Putting a drive in a FW case to turn on after startup is very useful. -
I have a Time Capsule version 7.7.3 (model A1470) which has worked fine for almost 2 years with all devices, Apple and otherwise. As of beginning of this month, March 2015 - no longer works with a new IPAD mini 3 and 6-month old iPhone 6 (both updated as of last night) BUT still works fine with MacBook Pro (Mavericks 10.9.5) and Epson printer XP-600.
On both IOS devices Airport Utility shows the Time Capsule and shows green light connection to internet, but never does the connection. The little status circle just keeps going round and never shows the Wifi rainbow symbol. both devices work fine on other Wifi's. Airport Utility on iPhone actually connects enough to check on Airport base station's firmware 7.7.3 and says it is up to date! but sadly stays on LTE.
Have tried resetting, replugging etc...
Also, tried checking on updates. Nothing shows in Airport Utility. When I try to go to see past updates ~/Library/Application Support/Apple/AirPort/Firmware to see if updated, there is no Airport in the Apple folder?
A mystery...Reset the TC to factory and redo the setup. see details below.
Here is the typical list of things you should try.. and if this doesn't help post again.
Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
Setup the TC again.
ie Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the hard disk doing this.
Then redo the setup from the computer or perhaps it is better using iOS on the phone or ipad currently having issues.
1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. No spaces and pure alphanumerics.
eg TCgen5 and TCwifi for basestation and wireless respectively.
Even better if the issue is more wireless use TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense. But this can be tried in the second round. For iOS the fixed channels particularly for 2.4ghz has helped.
2. Use all passwords that also comply but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
3. Ensure the TC always takes the same IP address.. you will need to do this on the main router using dhcp reservation.. or a bit more complex setup using static IP in the TC. But this is important.. having IP drift all over the place makes for poor networking. If the TC is main router it will not be an issue. This is a problem for a TC in bridge mode.
If this is of no help.. what modem do you have? What function other than modem does it have.. ie none or router??
How is the TC connected into the network? What function does it have? Router or bridge for example.
Post a few screenshots of the setup. -
4s with latest software update will not power off, text will only vibrate, iPod only works with earphones. When I sync it with iTunes it works until power save mode starts, then back to not powering down, making text sounds, or playing iPod out loud.

I created an application and in that application if date is changed the application starts from splash screen on re-entering and if date is not changed and u re-enters the application then it open in page where u leaved.It works with iPod not with iPhone
