Hi all,
I am new to XML. I have used very simple xml to keep some configuration data...
Currently, i have a requirement to use XML as output structure in some format in my java application.
So, i need to get the complete idea about XML schema, DTD... etc...
I need some good, online tutorials...
If anybody knows some site where i can find this.... please let me know...

Has anyone run across a problem trying to parse an xml instance (in this case it's an XSL style sheet) using Oracle's parsers? I'm getting the following sax error message:
SAXException : oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException: PI names starting with 'xml' are reserved. detailed SAX exception message: PI names starting with 'xml' are reserved.
The code generating this error is:

Guidance on getting started with XML/SOAP and JDeveloper

I am not a novice programmer, but I am new to Java and web services and I need to get up to speed very quickly on JDeveloper, XML, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, etc. Nothing I have read so far is making any sense. Could anyone please suggest the best place to start getting grounded in XML/SOAP messaging. It is my task to send and receive messages to an existing SOAP service on the web conveying data from our E-Bis Suite. Thanks, Bill.

Thanks! I made it through the JDeveloper Tutorial. I see a tutorial on the list specifically for Web Service from WSDL, so that's next. Hopefully, as I study the pieces, it will become easier to see how they all fit together.

Merge LiveCycle Form with XML using JAVA

Hello.
I am trying to find out how to merge non-interactive form with XML (using JAVA) so the users can see the final output form with the data filled in.
What are my choices..?
So far, I have created the interactive forms as template using LiveCycle 8 and wrote ASP.NET code to extract data and store it in SQL database when the user fill out and submit the form.
It works great but another agency wants to access the form as well.
They told us that they will create the XML themselves from the database, so they just need to combine the form with XML to display it (non-interactive form).
They want to use JAVA but I am not sure how to do that...
Any suggestion?

Assuming that you start with XML in an org.w3c.dom.Document that stores the XML data. Before you can merge it into a form, you have to convert it to a com.adobe.idp.Document object. TO convert a org.w3c.dom.Document to a com.adobe.idp.Document object -- use the following Java code:

Flash web gallery - style.xml start with slideshow in play?

When creating a web gallery with Lightroom, using a default flash template, a style.xml sheet is created. Does anyone know the line of code in that style.xml that sets the gallery to load with the slideshow in play mode?

The only code in the style.xml that looks like it might be realted is line 12 <playOptions playMode="pause"/>, changing that to "play" does nothing.

Are XML Tags starting with '_' underscore valid with XML DB?

I am importing an XML data file into an XMLType field in a table, then extracting data within a tag. I am using Oracle Database version 10.2.0.2.0
The data file I am using looks like:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<_PARENT>
<_EXAMPLES>
<_ITEM_NO>1</_ITEM_NO>
<_PAX_NO>1</_PAX_NO>
....etc.
If I then extract it using the command:
SELECT extractValue(e.XML_INVOICE_DATA, '/_PARENT/_EXAMPLES/_ITEM_NO')
FROM XXIBO_XML_STAGE_TABLE      e
I get the error:
SQL Error: ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing

If I take out the '_' underscores prefixing the XML tab names e.g:

This query works, which leads me to my origional question - is it invalid to have XML tags that are named starting with an underscore, when manipulating it in an XMLType object?

Getting started with Java and XML

Hi,
Although I am pretty familiar with Java, I am a total newbie with using it to parse XML. I have been reading quite a few tutorials so am getting a good understanding of it and am thinking of using the DOM model for my purposes.
What I haven't been able to find, however, is how I can actually get started with this. I have tried compiling a few examples and have been getting errors such as:
xmltest.java package javax.xml.parsers does not exist
xmltest.java package org.w3c.dom does not existetc etc...
It looks like these packages don't come with J2SE. Can anyone confirm this? Do I need to download and install the Java Web Services Developer Pack to solve this problem?
Finally, I know I will need an XML parser but have read that JDK 1.4 has it's own parser (Crimson). Is this adequate for parsing XML files or will I also need a parser such as Xerces?

If I copy the "lcds" folder, Tomcat starts with socket errors

In the documentation it is said that when you create a new server-side application, you can start by copying the 'webapps/lcds' folder. I did that but then, Tomcat starts with some socket errors:

What is happening is that you are getting a port conflict for the socket-based NIO and RTMP endpoints used in the channel definitions in the services-config.xml file of your new web app. The issue is that you have endpoints bound to the same port in the LCDS web and in your new web app.
You can deal with this one of two ways:
Option 1: In that services-config.xml file, search on "RTMP" and "NIO" to find the channel definitions and change the port numbers to something slightly different than the ones used in the LCDS web app.
Options 2: Move the LCDS web app out of the picture so it doesn't get loaded, and just use a template for future web apps. If you aren't using it for any of your development, there is really no reason you have to load it.
I'll add a note about this to the documentation that talks about using the LCDS web app as a template.

Problem with XML Publisher report when there are no detail records.

I am working on an Oracle XML Publisher procurement report (Oracle E-Business Suite R12) that starts with a budget amount that is imported from our financial system, then lists all requisitions and orders that are in process (not approved). The amounts of all those unapproved requisitions/orders are totaled using a Sum form field, to be followed by a field where the unapproved requisition/order total is subtracted from the budget amount (amount available). I am running into a problem when there are no unapproved requisitions. When I run the report for such instances, it completes with a warning -- here is what it states in the OPP log:

I have altered my sum field on the RTF template to include an if statement in case of a null value...

Hi,
You are on right track. Simply put summary field in header group and remember to set reset at property to Header Group Not Child and now you can use this field in format trigger.
Format trigger must be written on header frame.

[Solved] Audition won't start with [...\Preferences.cpp-253] error on windows 7/vista x64.

Hi! You have really nice support for Audition - 3 pages of problems here and no solution. Just kidding
So i've decided to help those poor users, that encounter the following problem (it may (or may not) arise after installing Adobe CS* with Audition already installed on the system)):
Adobe Audition crashes at start with the following error:
[\premiere2.0\Backend\Src\Core\Preferences.cpp-253]
After applying the Windows XP compatibility mode error chages to:
Adobe Audition could not find a supported audio device. Please check your device settings.
Then it crashes like before.
Uninstalling Adobe Premiere won't help, by the way.
This problem is somehow related to the audition_settings.xml file in the Data folder and deleting this file solves the problem. You can aslo delete the whole folder - it will be created again on a next Adobe Audition start. Here is the path:

Some technical data on my system:
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 (don't be confused - it is in every way identical to Windows 7 x64, at least for Adobe products). I have a strong feeling that Vista x64 users may encounter that too.

2. Adobe Master Suite CS5 (without premier)
3. Adobe Acrobat X

Help with XML, display data on swipe/click

Hello.
I am trying to create a moibile app that displays XML data. It's basically a phone book. I want the data to change when swiped. I can get the data in just fine. I can get it to display fine. I am not seeing the correct image first, however. I think it's a problem with my imagenum variable.
Then, I want to change what is displayed when the user clicks/swipes on the screen. How do I do that?

That helped. I get the correct images in the output, but not in the display. I also get the following error. Any chance you could help with that?
