Still trying to install iOS 5.1.1. before upgrading to iOS 6. It's downloaded but won't install. Message: "An error occurred installing iOS 5.1.1" but no further message.
Ever since iOS 5.1.1 came out, I have been trying to install it to my iPad 2. It is downloaded but I get the "Unable to Install Update" screen which says, "An error occurred installing iOS 5.1.1" but no other information is provided. Do I have to do a complete restore to get this to install?

i tried updating my ipad over a wireless, after downloading the update i was unable to install with a message an error occurred installing ios 7.0.3
Hello mom_5_01,
The following article should be quite beneficial in your endeavor to update your iPad.
iPad: Unable to update or restore
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4097
You may encounter the following symptoms while updating or restoring your iPad:
iPad continually restarts but never displays the Home screen.
An update or restore did not complete and the iPad is no longer recognized in iTunes.
iPad stops responding, showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, for over ten minutes.
If this occurs, you can place iPad into recovery mode and attempt to restore again. If iTunes displayed an alert with an error code, see this article before attempting the steps outlined here.
Cheers,

my iphone won't work after fatal error occurred installing iOS5.1 have followed allsteps to reconfigure software onto windows still no phone just a usb and itunes picture on screen
Connect the phone directly to the computer, not a hub.
Disconnect all other USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
Disable your firewall
Disable your antivirus
In iTunes if it recognizes the phone click "Restore"
If it doesn't recognize the phone:
Disconnect the phone from the phone end, leave the USB cable plugged into the computer
Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until the screen turns black, excactly 10 seconds, then release the SLEEP but continue holding the HOME (If an Apple logo appears you have held SLEEP too long; do it over)
While holding HOME connect the cable to the phone
As soon as iTunes recognizes the phone release the HOME button and it should restore.
If neither procedure works note the exact error message and post it. -
-_-

How do I resolve, "An error occurred installing iOS 8.1.2?"
I am trying to install iOS 8.1.2. The OS downloaded fine. When I select Install, I receive the message, "Verifying update." I then receive a pop-up with the message, "An error occurred installing iOS 8.1.2." I am given the option to Close or Setting on the pop-up. Both options simply close the pop-up. I need further help to figure out how to install 8.1.2.
Thanks,
JohnI would reset the phone and try once more

Error Occured Installing iOS 5.1 on my iPhone 4S, how do i fix this?
I was able to download iOS 5.1 via wifi on my iphone since March 7, but after downloading, it keeps on saying that an error occured installing iOS 5.1. How can I fix this? been trying to download it on my pc but it takes a while. the file is almost 1GB unlike ota update on my iphone, its just 183MB.
Next step in troubleshooting is a reset. You hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will restart. This will not have any affect on your data. If this doesn't help, the next step is a restore, however before I did this, I would call the carrier. Most SMS/MMS issues can be traced to the carrier. They may have to reset SMS on their end.

I recently downloaded ios 6.1.3 in my iphone 3, but unable to install the download. This message keeps showing "unable to install update, an error occurred installing the ios 6.1.3 I have tried several times but the same message keeps coming. What is the solution?
There is no such thing as an iPhone 's3'. There is a 3G which can only be updated to iOS 4.2.1 and a 3GS which can be updated to iOS 6.1.3.
Which model iPhone is this?

IOS error messagge - I keep getting the following message when I try to update my iPad2 - unable to install update, an error occurred installing IOS 8.1.2. How can I fix this?
Which way are you trying to update? WiFi or iTunes? In either case, I would try restarting/rebooting all devices and then try again.
IF you are using iTunes, eject your iPad, quit iTunes, reboot your computer and reset your iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen. After the iPad starts up, connect to iTunes and try again. You may also want to disable your firewall and antivirus software when you try to update using iTunes. Sometimes those will interfere with the download.
If you are using WiFi, reset the iPad as described above and try again.
If WiFi updating will not work, try using iTunes, if iTunes will not work, try using WiFi. -

Trying to update iPhone 5.1.1 and it says unable to install update. An error occurred installing iOS 5.1.1
If you did the update through iTunes, try going into the Settings App on your iPhone and doing the Software Update in there. The same thing happened to me, and the wireless update worked.

I'm trying to update my I-pad 2 (iOS 7) but unfortunately I'm facing an error while installing it, what shall I do?
Which version of Mac OS X do you have?<br />
Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

* http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/5.0/system-requirements/
* http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/3.6/system-requirements/
If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
* Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded

pls help me been trying to install ios 7 to my ipad 2, but this erroor always occurred "an error occurred installing IOS 7.0.4
If your iPad screen is frozen with that message on it, try rebooting your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

An error occurred installing iOS 5.0.1
Getting the following message when trying to update: "An error occurred installing iOS 5.0.1"
I can't seem to clear it or proceed past it. Any suggestions.
(iPhone 4)I updated my iPhone 4 iOS 5 to iOS 5.0.1 through iTunes today, and it did not complete - gave an error. Now my iPhone is in recovery mode, and cannot start/use my phone. I have tried turnnig it off/on few times. The only option that iTunes has now is to Restore back to Factory Settings..Really ?
I never expected Apple to come up with such crappy software in the first place and then with an update in such a haste which it seems was not tested properly.
Can anyone suggest a way to recover my iPhone back to normal usable state with all my data intact ?
I am beginning to hate iPhone...
