Stock Cat. group in Location master

Hello,
Could somebody please let me know how the field "Stock Cat. Group" is used in the location master under the SNP tab.
Thanks,

Hi Visu,
Let me ask you the following question:
We have a quarantine (resticted-use ) stock which:
1. Have to be deployed.
2. Must not be seen as a Stock On Hand (in /sapapo/sdp94).
Its category is CK.
What's gonna happen if we put category CK to category group X assigned to the ATD Receipt Cat. Grp in the location product master and exclude it from the category group Y assigned to the Stock Cat. Grp? Will that help us to achieve the requirement above?

Alper

  • Business systems group setting in location master

    Hello experts,
I am currently in the process of trying to set up the integration models for a second R3 system to be connected to one APO system.  All of the locations / plants for the first R3 system were created under BSG1.  The locations / plants for the second R3 system were created under BSG2.
I have identical product in both R3 systems.  They have the same material numbers.  The materials have existed in APO for quite some time under BSG1.  When I try to send the material numbers from the second R3 system, I get an error that the materials already exist in a different business systems group.  I changed the config for the second R3 system to be BSG1 (same as first r3 system).  But now I cannot create an integration model for my plants, because they already exist under BSG2.
If I change my locations / plants to BSG1 would that correct my initial error message?  Is there a way to change the business system group of a location once a location already exists in APO?
FYIu2026 I tried using /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS to delete the locations and resend them, but /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS doesnu2019t seem to do anything.  After I run the program, I still have all of the locations in APO, whether the location was flagged for deletion or not.
    Thanks,
    Matthew Bruckner

    Hi Matthew Bruckner
do you set deletion flag to your location master ? If not, please set deletion flag at first, then please delete your location by using /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS .
To set deletion flag to your location, please perform following.
    1. Open transaction /n/sapapo/loc3
    2. From the menu, select "deletion flag".
(the location should be de-assigned from related data like product, model)
    3. delete your location by using /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS .
And if you have same location or same location product, I recommend you to add some kind of information to your location and product by using CIF user exit.
Please take a look at my comment in following thread.

  • Material Master--Item CAt. group.

    Dear SAP Guru's
I need clarification on the following points.
    1. In the Materail MAster MM02 Creation screen
       In SALES org 2 :
What is the diff. of General Item category group and Item category group.
    2. I have a scenerio where I have out sourced material BANS as the Item category group and general Item category group as Norm.
When I create a sales order the system automatically creates a purchase requisition. in the system and confirms the del. date.
Where I have to configure the order document type sothat the PR (Purchase requisition comes automatically.
    regards,
    Amlan Sarkar

    Hi,
Item category group from material master
A grouping of materials that the system uses to determine item categories during the processing of sales documents.
    Procedure
Depending on the item category group that you apply and the sales document type you are processing, the system automatically proposes an item category in the document.
    Example
In the standard system, for example, there are standard items, items that represent services (and do not require delivery processing), and items that represent packaging materials.
    General item category group
Materials grouping that helps the system to determine item categories during sales document processing.
If a group is configured specific to distribution channel, it has priority if the corresponding activity is distribution channel-dependent.
    Procedure
The system automatically suggests an item type in the document depending on the item category group you assign and the sales document type you are processing.
    Example
In the standard system, there are normal items, items that signify services (and therefore need no delivery processing) and items that signify packing material, for example.

  • How to use Stock Category Group for two different configuration.

    Hi all,
I want to use the stock category group to do this scenario:
I have two process using the same location, the process A wants to consider Stock cat. Grp. 'ZSW' (SAPAPO/LOC3) so it will consider Stock using CC, CF and CE. The process B wants to consider Stock Cat. Grp. 'ZST' to consider only CC.
    My doubt:
How can I do that setup to make different things according the process? I tried to do something in Planning Area (SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN) but doesnu2019t work.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    -Ralph Veiga

    Hi Ralph Veiga,
Indeed the stock category group is define at location level...
I think your answer involves macros more than PA settings.
First I will suggest to split the stock key figure into 2: one for CC, one for the other.
For the CC, use the standard (cetegory group with CC only on the location master)
Now you need to populate the second key figure with CF and CE.
You should be able to built a macro using function PHYSICAL_STOCK() to get what you want.
For sure yuo first need a way to check if you want or not the CF and CE. Here implement your own logic for exemple base on your product characteristics with either MAT(), MAT_C(), MAT_EXTRA(), MATLOC_C()...
Else you can use a Z function in the macro to collect this data, but it involves ABAP coding.
PS: you don't actually need to split the key figure into to, but I think it helps with visibility...

  • Exclude stock at a storage location from the Productionn Planning run

    Hi,
We have to exclude a storage location from the Production Planning run. We already implemented a user exit in CIF and changed the stock at the storage location to a category Z1 that is not relavant to SAP, but the stock at the location is still being consitered for production planning.
Please suggest a way so that it is excluded from the Production planning
    Regards,
    Sireesh

    Hi Sireesh,
    Please try these following options.
    1) Filter this storage location in the programme /SAPAPO/RMSDPDEP by writing customised code with an abapper, so that it will drops the storage location stocks not getting planned during deployment
    2) Try anyof these user exists
APOBP011 Enhancement for Stock BAPIs (BUS10504)
    APOCF011 Inbound Processing: Stock
    APOCF027 Customer-Specific Enhancements: Stock
    3) Exclude the category from the ATD receipts category group maintained in the master data

  • Stock in 3 storage location..

    Hi Friends,
I have 3 storage location where I place stock. As you know that we have only one defualt storage location in Production Order. When system not able to find a stock at that storage location then it will create missing part list msg.
I would like system should pick the stock up automaticaly from another storage location, if stock in not available in default storage location.
I would appriciate, if you could write in steps to do config.
    Thnks

    Hi,
There may be requirement to withdraw the material from different stocks for goods issues and stock transfers based on some criteria or strategies. To meet this requirement in SAP we have stock determination strategies which determine how and when the material should be withdrawn, and from which storage locations and stocks. We can include the following stocks for the purpose of stock determination: unrestricted-use stock u2022 vendor consignment stock u2022 pipeline material u2022 sales order stock u2022 project stock.
Based on the stock determination strategy you define in configuration, the system makes decisions on material withdrawal depending on the material, plant.
    Configuration
SPRO > Materials Management > Inventory management and Physical inventory > Stock determination
Define a stock determination strategy, according to which stocks should be reduced. Each strategy is determined at plant level based on a stock determination group and stock determination rule.
Assign a stock determination group to the material in the material master record.
    Regards.

  • Difference bet'n item cat group & gen item cat group .

can anyone know about difference bet'n item cat group & gen item cat group in material sales view?

    Dear,
Considerting the remaining answers above, Please have a look:
General item category grp is used in the sales processes like BOM, where we have higher item category and the default item
    categories.
General item category grp would refer to the higher level item category and item category grp would refer to the default item category
General Item category Group is an extension item category group. Example: if one select item catagory group as NORM, but under item category group, NORM can further be classified as Service item, packagaing item or Normal
item using "general item category group".
Also, General item category group is maintained at client level, this field can be maintain from Basic Data View of Material Master. Thus in case item category group is missing, then general item category group is used for item category determination.
Item category group determines how a material is processed in the sales order. When processing sales and distribution
documents, the system uses the item category group to determine the item category and proposes it in the respective document. Item category group is defined in the Sales Org View 2 of Material Master Record.
Example, in the standard SAP System, the item category group NORM is defined for materials kept in stock and the group DIEN for services and non-stock material
    In Simple:
Item Category determines the processing of any Item/material that we enter in a sales order and in this way it also effects the procesing of any sales doc in which it is used.
Item Category Group is one of the component which along with the Sales Doc Type, The Item Usage and Higher Level Item Category decide about the Item Category in a sales doc.
As per definition General Item Category Group & Item Category Group both are to detrmine Item Category in Sales Document.
the Item Category Group is used to determine Item Category.
General item category is a broader term and used other than SD processes

  • MD04 - Display the stock on one storage location particulary.

The transaction MD04 allows seeing the stock of the plant in the first line of the Stock/requirement list.(MD04)
When the plant includes several storage location (e.g MAG1, MAG2, MAG3), we don't have the detail of the quantity one each storage location.
We can use the filter (by using SETTINGS and FILTER ON) that controls the display of the MRP list and the stock/requirements list but this function don't allows seeing only the stock on one storage location particulary. We have to go the tcode MMBE in order to know the stock on each storage location.
Thanks in advance for yours reply.

    What is your real problem?
Display the stock storage location-wise is one thing and do MRP without certain storage location(s) (=exclude storage locations from MRP) might be another.
If you only want to display stock of certain storage locations in MD04 but use all you stock for planning, I think there's no reason for it.
If you really want to exclude certain storage locations, then you have to be aware that MRP won't consider that stock (for the plant segment). It will also have impact on ATP (atp won't use that stock too).
So, there's a big difference between exclude a storage location from MRP and to exclude its stock from display.
(You can exclude storage locations from MRP via material master --> MRP4 view --> you have to enter both plant/sloc as organisational level and you will see the suitable tab. It is also possible to control this indicator via config for to be created material masters - you can search and find threads)
You should describe your exact requirement and maybe forum mebers can give you advice.

  • Procurement of non stock items without using material master?

    Hi Experts
My company follows third party scenerio with non stock items . The procurement process starts from creating a PR thru network by entering a material master and other purchasing information in component overview. I have come to know from some sources that in case of non stock items we may process the same  by not using the material master and just entering a material description and other purchase related information. So, my questions is:
Is it possible to follow the procurement process for non stock items without using material master? And if it is Yes, then how will i maintain the tax coditions which i generally do for material and vendor combinations.
    Thanks

    Hi Chandra,
It is mostly used in projects where you are directly procuring materials for projects and no need to track the inventory.
But i think it is better to create to material Master and use that Material with item cat L so that at any point of time we can track inventory .

  • Stock transfer between storage location in IS -Retail

    Hi,
I want to have a Stock transfer order between two storage locations in the plant.
I have activated the "Activate Stock Transfer Between Storage Locations", now i can create a STO and have the "Issuing SLoc" tab.
Having that i get an error message "Not possible to determine shipping data for material XXX" Message no. 06280.
I am trying to have the shipping data in customizing for set stock transfer  - "Define Shipping Data for Plants", but my site is not listed due to the use of IS Retail. Is there a way to configure it?
    Tnx
    Lior

    Hello Lior,
in Retail your distribution center is a vendor and a customer, and your store is a customer. Therefore when you create master data for your distribution centre and store, you also create the vendor and customer masters that are required.
By this link of the DC / Store to the customer master the shipping data is derived. I hope this answers your question.
If you have further queries related to this, please do post them.

  • Stock ledger group

    hi all,
Can you please let me know on what basis Stock ledger group is assigned to material document.
I can see the Stock ledger group assigned to amt doc  in the table -  l/BEV2/EDMSE.
But from where it is assigned and on what basis ?
    Regards,
    Chandan

    Hi,
During document selection, the system processes and evaluates each material document item. The system uses the following step to select the documents:
The system assigns the material document items to the relevant tax type.
    ·        The system assigns the material document items to a stock ledger group.
You can modify the assignment to a stock ledger group for specific customers. To do this you use reference stock ledger groups. You can also replace stock ledger groups (Customizing table Replace Stock Leger Groups).
Basis for the assignment of stock ledger group to material document:
Based on the data from the order/goods issue, purchase order/goods receipt, material, storage locations, and other movement data, the system assigns the material document to a stock ledger division u2013 and a stock ledger sub-division if necessary u2013 and to a stock ledger group. The previously determined ED movement category ascertains the analysis method.
The system assigns reversal postings and original movements to the same stock ledger group. The quantity is simply entered with a different +/- sign than the original movement. For more clarity please follow below link. I hope this will resolve your issue. Thanking you.

  • Stock Determination Group

    Hi Gurus,
What is importance of having Stock Determination Group in MRP 2 view?
If I define this and maintain for my raw and semi-finished material. These material are spilit valuated.
When I do backflushing, MFBF system will pick stocks based on rule maintained in stock determination for eg- pick first stock from Local, then go for imported.
But when I do the reversal, system doesnot use the same stock determination rule. I have give the input of material stock, where it is be put. Is it correct? Any inputs.
    Pl clarify my doubt.
    Srini

    Hi Srini N,
Stock determination enables you to implement various strategies to withdraw material for goods issues and stock transfers. You configure these strategies in Customizing. Then the system determines how and when the material should be withdrawn, and from which storage locations and stocks.
Based on the stock determination strategy you predefine, the system makes decisions on material withdrawal depending on the material, plant, and the business process.
If the stock determination procedure did not remove materials from the stock you requested, you can only cancel this posting via a reverse posting in the application you are using.
You should always prepare each strategy thoroughly and configure and test the application components extensively before you start using them.
Hope it is clear to you.
    Regards
    R.Brahmankar

  • Diff between Gen Item Catg Group & Item Cat group In MM01

    HI Gurus,
What is the difference between Gen Item Catg Group & Item Cat group In MM01?
    Cheers,
    Chitty

    Hi
There are several posts on same issue you can find out in sdn threads
Item Category determines the processing of any Item/material that we enter in a sales order and in this way it also effects the procesing of any sales doc in which it is used.
Item Category Group is one of the component which along with the Sales Doc Type, The Item Usage and Higher Level Item Category decide about the Item Category in a sales doc.
for example we can ERLA as item cat group and carry out the header level pricing or we can LUMF and do the item level pricing in case of a Sales BOM.
General item category group talks about further classification of a material. Like NLAG- non stock material can be used to identify bom header items, service items.
Item category group and general item category group difference
