Stock Type Changes for Storage Unit Mgt.

Hello,
I am looking to develop an R3 system program (in ABAP) which based on certain criteria can change a storage unit's stock type between unrestricted, quality, and blocked. I know there is a BAPI, 'BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE', which can be used to do the Posting Change in IM and there are function modules, L_TO_CREATE_SINGLE, etc, which can be used to create/confirm transfer orders for the storage unit in WM, but I was hoping someone can provide guidance on how I could make this simpler. Is there a one-step method I can use to combine the movements for IM and WM (either programatically or through configuration). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if the system has determined more quants than are necessary for processing the posting change notice, you can restrict the quant selection further, so that you can process the posting change notice in the background.

Yes we did run LT04 and it does encounter that same error message after clicking the Stock Removal button. But eventually error msg will be removed by entering the value at the Storage Unit Type field because it directly fills in LTAP-LETYP.
We have resolved that the function module will not really fill the desired Storage unit type therefore TO background creation is not feasible in our scenario (non-SU managed transfer to SU-managed storage type). And I found this thread too: http://scn.sap.com/thread/1947358
So issue is still open but we have considered of changing the process since this is still just a new scenario for us.

Need Ideas For Storage Units Data Storage Capabilities - Special Attributes? History? 2 Ind-UMs

Hello experts,
The company I'm working for is looking into permanently-storing pallet level information (keep a history of the pallet movements) and use RF-scanners to move product in the warehouse. They have made a decision to implement Warehouse Management's Storage Unit Management functionality. They looked into Handling Units as well, but they don't want to use HUs for many reasons.
They would also like to store 2 units of measure at the Storage Unit level without activating "Catch Weight Management" because that would require them to run parallel systems for a while and also deal with CWM functionality restrictions. Keep in mind that most of the products they handle are catch-weight products, so UM conversions don't work for them.
Solutions I have in mind:
For storing 2 independent UMs: Store the quantity of the 2nd unit of measure in a custom table at the Storage Unit level and use custom RF-scanner programs to "receive, issue, scrap, and move" goods in the warehouse. These custom RF-scanner programs would update SAP standard table with 1st (base) UM and also custom table with 2nd UM.
For permanenlty-storing SU history: Use custom table to to store Storage Unit History. The custom programs created to handle the SUs would update this custom table.
Last time I checked, the history of a Storage Unit is not recorded in SAP, correct? ONLY in Handling Units, correct?
OR are there any documents/tables that permanently store the Storage Unit number so they can be queried after the Storage Unit is consumed/issued?
I know SAP keeps improving its applications with every release, so I'm just looking at my options here.
Does anyone else have any other ideas on how to approach this other than Using Handling Units & Catch Weight Management?

For storing 2 independent UMs
Can you please explore the LS26 option there also system is allowing you to change the parameter"Unit of measure" and displays the stock on different UoM, hopefully this will solve your problem and you need not design a custom table to store the value at different UoM level
For permanenlty-storing SU history:
System store the storage unit related value in table : LEIN however the moment you do any consumption or movement to non SU the entries goes off from this table hence i think the approach taken by you seems the only one approach to store the historical data. (Make sure you are taking into consideration of the archiving activity as you proceed further the size of database will get bigger and time to generate any report will take longer then expected

Stock report based on stock type with a storage location

Is there a standard SAP report that will give me the stock information based on the storage location and stock type (unrestricted, QI, blocked, etc?)...for instance if I want to find all QI stock in a certain plant/storage location? I want it to show a list of materials and their quantities, not on an individual basis as in MMBE.

Thanks again for your response. I've used your last mentioned method before but with MMBE you have to enter a material number. We want a report of all materials in a particular stock type.
I was able to achieve this by goign to MB52 and setting up a filter on a layout. My users can now select that filter on the selection screen to get the desired result.

External number range for storage units

I have been trying to set this up without success.
1. If I set up an external number range and assign it, then the system tells me to set up an internal number range.
2. If I set up an internal number range the system does not allow manual input (external assignment from internal number range not allowed).
I have allowed internal and external assignment for the warehouse.
This is the error that I get when trying scenario 2.
"External assignment of numbers from an internal number range not allowed
Message no. L3212
Diagnosis
The external storage unit number to be issued is in an internal number range.
Procedure
Unlike other applications, external number ranges in the WM system are not explicitly defined. Instead, they are taken from the unused numbers in the internal number ranges when the "Issue type" switch in the Customizing application allows external numbers to be issued for the warehouse number."
So does this saying that external number assignment is not possible? Or is it saying that I have to use internal range even for external numbering? What is the solution?

Stock type change inMIGO

Hi All,
we are doing a 2 step GRN with movement type 103 and 105. At the time of releasing the GR blocked stock with movement type 105 I want the stock type to automatically come up as unrestricted stock. I think there is a standard configuration which I am unable to locate. can someone help me out please.

As per my knowledge, with standard settings, action can only be among the predefined types - goods issue, goods receipt, or transfer posting etc.
I am not aware if any SPRO settings are there for changing this.
GR into blocked stock is a specific movement type. So that goes under MVT type field.

I Need to know is there any BADI avaialble for LT31 which will help to change the picking in LIFO methology. Currently in LT31 storage unit are in FIFO i need a badi to change that in Last in first out methology.

Custom output type configuration for Handling units

All, Can any one guide me how to configure AZ output types for handling units? My scenario is as follows.
To print a new label for the handling units as soon as the packing happens. User should be able to see this new custom output type in VLO2N/VL03N. Also user can print the labels thru VL74 by inputting the custom output type and processing mode.
For this I did the following.
Created a new custom output type in "NACE" under the application "V6 - Handling Units". And assigned print program and smart form for this output types. After this I am able to see the output types in VL74, when I did F4 on output type field. But I am not able to see the new output type in VL02N/VL03N.
Can anybody tell me what needs to be done to get the new output type in VL02N/VL03N.

Material type change for split valuation

We have to change to material type for materials having split valuation.
Suggest the required

The material type is stored in table MARA, however, MM17 can not change all fields that are contained in a table. MM17 is not a table modification tool, it just supports business process of mass changing some field contents. It is more like mass process MM02. But the fields that cannot even easily changed in MM02 like base unit of measure, batch managment flag are not supported within MM17. Material type cannot even be changed in MM02.
There are that many checks that need to be performed and cause a failure, that you cannot do such in a mass change transaction.
It is certainly possible to record MMAM to finally do this with batch input, CATT or LSWM for many materials. But first try it manually for 10-20 materials to make your experience.
By the way, dont forget the number range. If you change material type, then the material number will remain, which may screw up your number range logic (that is often defined after heavy and long discussions. If you have different number ranges per material type, then you should block the transaction MMAM for anybody)

Document type change for excise document

Dear Experts,
I would like to change the document type for excise invoice generated at the time of J1IIN. At present system is generating document type SA. I want to maintain different number range for these documents instead of SA document number. So I would like maintain different document type for these document.
I have maintained different document ED in Tax on goods movement - Basic settings - maintain Company code settings, but still system picking document type SA.
Please advice.

Document type RV is assigned to billing document type in VOFA. But how I can check the document type for Excise invoice?

Requirement type change for Make to order

HI Experts,
Need your help in resolving a issue, We have scenario where same material can be a make or Buy based on one logic, For buy scenario i need to drop IC order.
To do thing functionality i am flipping requirement type of the line item in MV45AFZB, Problem is i am not able to get planned order generated even though i am able to flip the requirement type.
Should i need to change my logic in MV45AFZB or ZZ?

Why do you have to work with user exits to flip Requirement types?
Why don't you set up 2 item cats ( one for Make, another for Buy situation), (have the users) flip the item category manually in the order and drive the requirement type via item cat using 'Determination Of Requirement Types Using Transaction' config? If you don't want to flip the item cats, you may set up 2 different order types also.

I've created one copa data source with cost based successfully in R/3 system. I've replicated that into BI system bu the problem is for characteristic BUKRS [Company code] the data type showing REF in BI which is non existance and hence i'm unable to activate this data source.

Security - How to set up auto email on IP change for stolen unit recovery

I know most smart thieves will not put a system online until they have control of it, but for those who don't...
Can anyone point me to a script that would email our office when the IP changes in the background? It would really help as we have had a rash of systems stolen at our location.

I've been meaning to write up something like this myself as our company routinely sends a dozen or so iBooks out to labs at trade shows. What I'm planning is basically to poll the ethernet MAC address of the current gateway and use curl to load a page on our website with the machine's info in the query string if this changes to one that is unrecognized. This page could also email someone. If the page doesn't exist, the request should still at least be logged as a 404 along with the query string. I'm tempted to actually try to serve and execute a shell script, if stolen, but that's a little like running with scissors. Another option is to take snap shot via iSight, if you've got one. There was recently some discussion regarding this at macosxhints.com.
There's also commercial software for recovering stolen computers. This is probably the most practical solution, but not as fun!
