Stop all Ciscoworks Services

Is there a way to stop all Ciscoworks services using one command, then restarting themagain with this command?
To prevent database corruption when rebooting.

Hi!
You can use the following command...
Windows:
net stop crmdmgtd
net start crmdmgtd
Solaris:
/etc/init.d/dmgtd stop
/etc/init.d/dmgtd start
Takes just a while.

  • Stop all Oracle Services

I am upgrading/patching my test 10g database. While upgrading it ask you stop all oracle services in order to continue the upgrade. I did that but it is still asking to stop all oracle services. Now what do I do, anybody have experience with that.

First, make sure you don't have any thing automatically started, and don't use even sqlplus, as a client it will load several dll's and when the upgrade process starts it will mark several dll's as being used.
I've been working with win2003 several upgrade processes, I don't know exactly why, but several dll's are still marked as being used, even if the host was restarted with the service set to manual start. The exact list of dlls that are in this situation correspond to those used by an oracle client.
The workaround I found for my specific case was to rename the dll's and let OUI to write the new version.

  • Unable to install patchset 10.2.0.3 on XP - wants me to stop ALL services

    Hi,
I am unable to install patchset 10.2.0.3 on our existing OWB installations (patchset 10.2.0.2) already installed.
I get an error message saying that certain files are in use and that I should stop the "following services". It then proceeds to list every running service!!
I have tried installing OWB with the 10.2.0.2 patchset and then I am able to install the 10.2.0.3 one but that is not a viable solution as I already have several users with OWB 10.2.0.2 installed on their machines and they need to patched to 10.2.0.3 ASAP. I really don't want to have to uninstall OWB from their machines and reinstall it.
So, what's going on? Why does the OUI say it wants every Windows service to be stopped?

I think this problem is caused by one or several MS Windows services (maybe MSDTC?). OUI cannot identify exact service name which locks Oracle file(s) and show all services in list.
There are several notes on Metalink about this problem:
Note:356181.1 "Errors about files being in use, when applying a patch."
Note:402546.1 "How To Specify Which OCI.DLL The MS DTC PROCESS Uses"
    Note:198699.1 "Access denied on OCIW32.DLL when removing 9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2) installation"
Note:232827.1 "Universal Installer can not replace the oci.dll Error when install/deinstall Oracle Products"
Note:294350.1 "Write Errors, or Files In Use, or NoServicesForProcessException During Patch Installation"
Try to change registry value HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MSDTC/MTxOCI/OracleOciLib to nonexistent file name (for example xxx.dll), restart Windows and try to install patch again. Please give a feedback to this recommendation, I think it would be interesting to all.

  • Start and Stop Oracle BI services on UNIX box?

    Hi All,
We have OBIEE installed on the Unix Servers and want to start and stop the Bi services.
What is the command to do so?

    Hi,
At the Unix prmompt I am executing the following command but it throws an error saying : run-sa.sh command not found,I am in the OracleBI\Set up Directory on the unix machine
    -bash-3.00$run-sa.sh stop
does anyone has idea is that the exact command to I am missing anything? In what directory are you trying to execute that command? Do "pwd" to see where you are. You seem to need Unix training. In Unix (like in DOS) you can only execute a command/program that exists the PATH environment variable. Most likely the OBIEE bin directory won't be in the path, unless someone specifically added it. Further more the current directory (referred as ".") is not usually in the PATH variable either so when you execute commands you have to prefix them with the full path or with the current directory as Vinodh suggested.

  • Allow a user access to start and stop a particular service in Solaris 11 using RBAC controls

So, using svcbundle I created a service called "oracle" that starts and shutdown a db. I'm aware of how to grant RBAC access to be a "service operator" to be able to control start/stop ALL services. But I'd like to grant a user access to start and stop JUST this service.
in this document on page 15, it states that it's possible to do this kind of granularity but doesn't explain how to do it step by step.
    how does one achieve this?
    thanks.

You need to add a property group such as
    <property_group name='general' type='framework'>
<!-- to start stop oracle -->
      <propval name='action_authorization' type='astring'
      value='solaris.smf.manage.oracle' />
    </property_group>
Then add the solaris.smf.manage.oracle authorization to the user profile.
As an example, see Less known Solaris features: RBAC and Privileges - Part 2: Role based access control - c0t0d0s0.org

  • How to Close all Oracle services on Win XP?

While I was trying to install Dev/2k on Win XP, I got a message to close all Oracle services before I proceed with the installation. In Windows NT, I simply open Services folder from the control panel and shut down the desired srvice, but there is no such a thing on Win XP...
    Any input would be helpful.
    Thank you much in advance.

Go to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services and find all the service names starting with Oracle and right click to manually stop each one.

We logged in with remote desktop user A from ABC system to BI system and We created a batch file to start and stop all the BI the services and scheduled this batch file using windows schedule tasks. These batch files will stop the BI services and after 30 minutes another batch file will load data into the database, after 2 hours start services batch file will start the BI services.

  • Stopping sql server services while applying Service pack On SQL server 2008 and 2008 R2

    Hi,
I am planning to apply service pack 3 for SQL 2008 R2 and Service pack 4 for SQL server 2008. This is my first time and I am applying first QA and DEV environment. I have one confusion. In cluster once you fail over sql resources to active node all of the
sql services including SQLSERVER and Agent are automatically stopped in passive node where we apply service pack. But in Stand alone, The services are not automatically stopped. Do I need to manually  stop those services like SQLSERVER, Agent, Browser
and others if any  before I start applying service pack?
    Early Response is highly appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance

    Hello,
You don’t need to stop SQL Server services. Let SQL Server setup do it as needed.
Please read the following article for the cluster you would like to update:

  • Script Start/Stop Oracle Applications Services

    Hi
I am constructing some scripts to stop or start some Oracle Applications services (APP, Apache, DB, Construct Manager, discover, forms, etc)
I now that are some script in the folder \viscomn\admin\scripts\, but my questions are, what services must I stop/start first?? The APP?? Then the BD vision?? Then apache?? Or first BD, discover, apache, app, etc?
Please can anyone help on this? Tank you
    JailBreak

    Hi
    Tank you for your reply’s.
Yes i will use the Oracle scripts to stop and start services.
But when the Network Administrator shutdown the server, he must shut down some services, and I will include this scripts in the main script. But my dough was what services will stop first.
The IAS services don’t need to be started?? My IAS service are all stopped and if I start Apache Server Service first, the IAS HTTP Server service don’t start. I must start IAS HTTP Server first, then start apache server. IF not give an error and the service don’t start. But then after the Apache Server will stop by itself.
And some times the Oracle script doesn’t start the Concurrent Manager Service. I must start it manually.
My services that are started are:
    Oracle Apache Server
    Oracle Fulfiment Server
    Oracle Metrics Server
    Oracle Metrics Client
    Oracle Reports Server
    Oracle Concrrent Manager
    Oracle Discover Server
    Oracle Forms Server
Oracle OracleVIS_db920_RDBMSTNSListenerVIS(from the OracleVIS_db920_RDBMSTNS this is the only service that are started, the others are stopped. Is this correct?)
    Oracle OracleVISOra806_2TNSListener80APPS_VIS
This is all the services that are started.
But I have a problem in my discover. When I login to the applications as a user, and pick some options (that will open discover) it gives me one error.
Locator unable to start session altranitsgp.altranit.pt_8000OracleDiscovererSession4. - Hint: An administrator can further diagnose connection problems by running the "checkdiscoverer" script under <ORACLE_HOME>/806/discwb4/util.
But I have started the Discover Server and tested, and all went ok. The problem is in the applications. I don’t know why.
Any one can give a hand on these issues?
    Tank in advance.

How do I watch videos without them stopping all the time?
I have Snow Leopard on two computers and IOS5 on IPad 2. Videos will not run without stopping. I am talking about videos like on Yahoo and YouTube etc.

Slow Internet download speeds are typically responsbile, if you have 5 Mb/s or slower it's really bad. 10 Mb/s or higher is preferred and 20 Mb/s or better is ideal.
If you use a alternate DNS service like GoolgeDND or OpenDNS which has to fetch Akami hosted content from overseas instead of using your much closer ISP servers.
If your router is the old G model, upgrade to N.
If your wifi is open, you could have leechers. The more on the network, even a fast one, the slower it gets.
