Stop DIA work process with PRIV mode in my program

Hello,
I  write Program that display in the end an alv report and when i display it after same time my dia wp get in PRIV mode
I search about it and I didn't find the solution but it happend only with my program this reject the memory parameter that cause the problem
Thanks for your help

Hi,
>I think this not the problem because in the dev and the qa system it won't get in priv thanks
>mode and the have the same value in the parameter ztta/roll_extension and the qa is the copy of the prod but 3 month old
And these 3 months difference can perfectly explain why you have the problemn on production and not on QA.
Private modes are generated usually because of badly designed programs (including standard ones...).
ALV is not designed to display a huge amoiunt of data.
Beware also of internal tables : Abap programmer usually abuse internal tables thinking memory is an unlmimited ressource...
Just a few ideas.

Olivier

  • Stop DIA work process with PRIV mode.

    Hi,
How to stop DIA workprocess with PRIV mode. by searching notes, I find it is possible to setl the max time and max number of the private memory.
    Kind regards,
    Masaaki

    Hello Masaaki,
Before deciding whether to wait for the process to finish by itself or not, i would suggest that you find out the program which is causing the work process to go into PRIV mode. Once this is done, as your technical guys (ABAP) to analyse why this is happening (is the program logic inefficient and hence using so much memory etc).
You have to note that (Dialog) work processes going into PRIV mode is not a healthy sign for the SAP application server.
This is beacuse once the WP goes into PRIV mode it is not available to any other transactions, and we only have a limited number of work processes.
Please make sure the parameters below are defined in RZ10 instance profile:
rdisp/max_priv_time - used to define the maximum time that a work process can remain in PRIV mode. (After this the work processes is terminated and restarted). This is reasonable because beyond the time limit set, it is imperative to assume that the program using the work process is in efficient. (in case a program really needs that much time, it needs to be scheduled as a background job).
rdisp/wppriv_max_no- this parameter defines the maximum number of work processes that can be in PRIV mode. Very useful.
Also, make sure that a parameter ABAP/heaplimit is defined. This ensures that if a program eats up a certain amount of heap memory, the work process being used can be terminated.
And finally please do check if your extended memory allocation is not big enough. the parameter em/initial_size_mb defines the fixed size of extended memory. Increasing this size only if you find that a lot of processes are frequently going into PRIV mode.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Prashant

  • Extended memory 50% free, but work process reach PRIV

    hi,
many dialog work process reach PRIV mode though extended memory is 50% free.
    profile parameters as below :
    ztta/roll_first     1 MB
    ztta/roll_extension     2GB
    ztta/roll_area     6MB
    abap/heap_area_dia     2GB
    can anyone throw light ?

    Hi Krishna,
In addition to the parameter you have mentioned check these parameter as well in the system.
A process going into PRIV means that either it has exhausted its quota of extended memory (ztta/roll_extension) or that the total extended memory (em/initial_size_MB) has been used up by other sessions. So increase these 2 parameter to start with and then tune others.
rdisp/ROLL_SHM                32768       8 kB  Part of roll file in shared memory
rdisp/PG_SHM                  16384       8 kB  Part of paging file in shared memory
rdisp/PG_LOCAL                150         8 kB  Paging buffer per workprocess
em/initial_size_MB            61440       MB    Initial size of extended memory
em/blocksize_KB               4096        kB    Size of one extended memory block
em/address_space_MB           4096        MB    Address space reserved for ext. mem. (NT only)
ztta/roll_extension           2000000000  Byte  Max. extended mem. per session (external mode)
abap/heap_area_total          64424500000 Byte  Max. usable heap memory
abap/heaplimit                40000000    Byte  Workprocess restart limit of heap memory
Also, consider setting rdisp/wppriv_max_no and rdisp/max_priv_time,so that system performance is not much impacted.

  • Number of DIA work processes

    Hello,
How do we decide the maximum number of DIA work processes (or total number of work processes including others like BGD, SPO, etc) that our server/hardware will support?
Secondly, we found that in the instance profile for one app server, parameter value for number of DIA is set as 30. However, in the SM50 for that instance, we only found 25 DIA work processes (no changes were made after system start in RZ03/RZ04). Any inputs?
    Regards,
    NK

When the instance is started, as many work processes as the sum of the following parameters are started:
    rdisp/wp_no_dia
    rdisp/wp_no_vb
    rdisp/wp_no_vb2
    rdisp/wp_no_enq
    rdisp/wp_no_bt
    rdisp/wp_no_spo
    rdisp/wp_no_restricted
The sum of the parameters must be smaller or equal to the value of parameter rdisp/wp_max_no
    From <http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/46/c24a5fb8db0e5be10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm>
Please let me know if your sum> rdsip/wp_max_no ?

  • How to stop update work process

    hi
    this is mahesh
in my dev server 3 update workprocess are running very long time .how to stop that 3 update workprocess .i am already deleted the error update record in sm13
pls tell me how to change this work process running mode to waiting mode.pls give me solution.

    Hi mahesh,
I guess you want to terminate the workprocesses.
Go to SM50 select the update process you want to terminate then in menu bar goto <b>Process </b> and then select <b>Cancel without core</b>.it might take some time but the workprocess will get terminated.
In case it takes too much of a time kill it at OS level.
    Please award points accordingly.
    Regards.

  • Work process in private mode

    Dear All,
Our server dialog workprocess goes into private mode during peak usage. We have increased the value of parameter em/initial_size_MB to 10092 also em/blocksize_KB to 10092
But still the problem persists, as we notice all developers use the same userid and there count is more than 20 users.
Can using same userid by developers cause the problem since the workprocess private mode is with there id and userid is shared among all. Please advice
    Best Regards,

    Hi vinodvijayankk,
I do not want to comment on the licensing question of 20 developrs with 1 idea ...
But, the setting of the profile parameters is the issue !
Please check out ST02 and the max use value - I bet, 9-11GB - which is too much with 10GB setup ...
    =>
    Try:
    em/initial_size_MB = 20000
PLEASE leave this parameter on default:
    em/blocksize_KB = 4096
(this only needed when you have to increase on more than 65000 for the other parameter - and then you are only alloed to use powers of here ....)
There is NOTHING shared between 2 different people using the same account => the problem would be identical with 20 User IDs ...

  • Function called IN BACKGROUND TASK goes to work process DIA, not BGD

I'm calling a function IN BACKGROUND TASK
In SM50, I see it running in a DIA work process.
I want it to run in a BGD work process.
Can this be done?  If so, how?  If not, why not?

    Hi...
It looks like, it will always run in DIA process and not Background process...I am not sure that we can change the work process
    Check the below link..
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_40b/helpdata/pt/69/c24f864ba111d189750000e8322d00/content.htm
What is written in the link is...
"Background updates (CALL FUNCTION IN BACKGROUND TASK) represent a variant of remote function call that is synchronous with the end of a transaction (COMMIT WORK). In background updating, an update is run in another dialog work process that may be in the same or in another application server and R/3 System. Because such updates run in their own LUWs, they may start only after all critical updates have been completed. Otherwise, it would not be possible to roll back background changes in the event of an error in another update component. "
IF you get the answer of whether we can change the work process then please let us know...

    Hi,
The Exchange Health Manager Service is used to manage worker process. It's used to build, execute, and start and stop the worker process, as needed. It's also used to recover the worker process in case that process fails, to prevent the worker process from
being a single point of failure.
Please check whether the Exchange Health Manager Service is running well.
Besides, please check the application log to see if there is any related events that can be used to troubleshoot this issue.
    Best regards,
    Belinda

I am new to SAP. I installed SAP ECC6 EHP4 with default kernel version 701 and it was working fine.
I have upgraded kernel version from 701 to 741
Are you sure kernel 741 is compatible with an EHP 4 system ?

  • Cannot Install Windows 7 with AHCI mode

    Hello,
Having just submitted a support ticket to MSI, I was curious to see if anyone else has experienced a similar issue or may be able to suggest a possible resolution.
I recently purchased a MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate for an htpc build.
I've ran into an issue of not being able to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit onto my ANY SATA 3 hard drive with SATA mode - AHCI enabled in bios.
Main parts for the build are:
    Motherboard: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate
    CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4 3 FCLGA 1150
    RAM: G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 600
    OS HD: Crucial M500 SSD
During Windows install and selecting the SSD in which to install windows onto..
Windows will prompt with: “Windows cannot be installed to Disk x Partition x. (Show details)
Afterwards, I’ll select ‘Load driver’ and select the “Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver for 8x series,” provided by MSI drivers download page. Confirmed as a valid driver for the SATA AHCI controller.
"Select the driver to be installed" lists: “Intel(r) 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller” Looks good, then progress...
Followed by clicking on next- “Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information.”
I've tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit via USB drive and OEM disc to no avail.
Performed a test using the same install procedure with my primary desktop computer which uses a MSI z68A-GD65 (G3) motherboard (AHCI enabled.) I was able to install windows to my Crucial M500 SSD without issue.
Confirmed the issue occurs while testing with different hard drives. I have yet to be able to install windows with AHCI enabled on this motherboard.
    HDDs tested include:
    WD Black WD5002AALX 500GB
    Seagate ST3100524AS 1TB
Once I change SATA mode from AHCI to IDE, I was able to install windows without the need of pre-loading the Intel 8 Series SATA/AHCI driver.
Afterwards having installed windows, I decided to test by switching SATA mode back to AHCI. Doing so will cause the machine to bsod upon booting to windows. Later, I performed the registry edit to change IDE to AHCI mode within windows. Followed by again enabling AHCI in bios.
I was able to boot while in AHCI mode temporarily a couple of times until this method stopped working. Any attempt past the bios post, windows will not boot.
I've also tested the manual and XMP profile RAM settings as suggested by the sticky'd thread here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=178019.0
I would like to possibly resolve the issue in regards to utilizing AHCI mode for optimal performance for my hard drives and hot swap capability.
When I have more time, I suppose I can run a RAM test; but so far I simply believe it may just be a SATA controller or driver conflict with the motherboard.
tl;dr Cannot install Windows 7 onto any hard drive with AHCI enabled. Works fine with IDE mode.

** Update as of 6/3/2014 ** Issue resolved.
Received my replacement motherboard from RMA. Replacement is working without any issues with SATA mode set to AHCI.
Tested by running Windows 7 and Windows 8 install - both detected my SATA SSD and other HDDs as applicable drives to install Windows onto. Pre-loading the SATA controller drivers was not necessary. Windows boots up immediately without any delay now. Benchmarks are showing valid stats for SATA3 devices.
Also to note, the replacement motherboard came with bios version 1.5, compared the one I sent back which came with 1.6. In case if that had anything to do with it. Not going to risk updating the bios at this point.

  • Urgent : Work process in WP table of MMC are getting status as ended

    Hi,
By mistake we have ended work process from Task Manager and the MMC status we are getting is yellow only..
The entries in WP Table are changing from RUN to Ended but not reaching WAIT.. Please help me how can I recreate work process or how can I wake up those.
    help will be appreciated..
    Thanks..
    Satya..

this answer was not very helpful!
he told us, that he stopped a work process in taskmanager (for Unix people: kill -9) and after that the instance gets yellow in MMC.
what has this todo with listener, Env variables or database character set? nothing? so why change something?
I assume that he stopped the dispatcher or multiple work processes. In this case the instance gets yellow status because only the gateway is remaining.
We are not able to start a single process in a startup group after it failed.
As I already told him, stop the instance and start it again. The easiest way is perhabs rebooting.
interesting sources for analysing the root of the problem:
    1. Windows Eventviewer (application eventlog)
