  • How do I stop images flickering when zooming in?

    I've imported a 32bit jpeg into Director MX. I'm trying to
    slowly zoom into the image, to create a slow Ken Burns style zoom
    effect. When I play my movie, the image is flickering and the zoom
    does not appear smooth. Does anybody know a way around this? Maybe
    I'm doing something wrong...
    Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    How are you performing this zoom? Are you using keyframes
    across the
    score, or using Lingo?
    If you are using the score, then you may want to try
    different frame
    rates, to see if you can smooth out the animation. You may
    also be
    seeing a problem with the refresh rate of your monitor.
    If you are using Lingo, then you might try changing the
    amount of image
    size change at each step, and/or changing the frame rate to
    smooth out
    the animation.

  • DVD Slideshow Images Flickering

    I was a Window user. Now I am a new MAC user. I bought iMac mainly to do slideshows and video. I heard that MAC is great for slideshows and videos. iLife is great. But.. There is always a but. This is a big BUT and I sincerely hope that going to MAC is not a disappointment. Here goes.
    The slideshows in iPhoto 08 and iDVD 08 are great but after burning into DVD the images flickers.
    Some part of the picture flickers not the whole picture. Even the add on text on the picture flickers.
    In Windows I used Ulead Movie Factory, it had the same problem until Ulead implemented Anti Flicker option. Selecting this option makes the DVD pictures perfectly still like viewing your photos on the computer.
    Is there an Anti Flicker setting in iDVD or iPhoto?
    I am not producing DVD slideshow at the moment until I can find a solution as this flickering thingy is infuriating. A still picture must be still and not flickering on certain part of the picture/image. Railway tracks flickers madly, leaves on a tree flickers, blinds flickers, the face flickers, etc
    Please helppppppp. Frustrated. I cannot go back to Windows and I do not want to. I am sure others must have this problem too. I pray that I have done something wrong else there won't be a solution until Apple can fix it. Prayyyy
    Thanks. Sorry for being so long winded.

    Guys,
    I am back. Sorry for taking so long. My wife has been grumbling about me spending so much time on the computer, blah, blah..
    Again thank you all for all the suggestions. I have look at Photo to Movie tutorial. It is pretty good but I think Fotomagico is better. Yet to try it. Soon I hope.
    As what Howard Topoff said, Ken Burns causes the Flickering and he is correct. I created a slideshow in iPhoto without Kenburns and send to iDVD. There are no flickers what so ever. The quality I got is as per Ulead DVD Movie Factory. Now, at least I am getting the same quality as before. I expect it to be better but hey... It is really a pity as I like Ken Burns a lot.
    One thing maybe you guys can explain. iPhoto send to iDVD(not exporting) by creating a QT movie. I dragged the QT movie to Toast which has the option to tell you what type of file it is. Toast reported that the QT movie file is MPEG 4 video, 720x540 AND 13.5 fps. I would expect the fps will be around 25 or 30. Shouldn't iPhoto be sending out as high quality as possible so that iDVD will be able to recode it to suit PAL or NTSC? Unbelievable.
    It is silly for iPhoto export option which can only export the biggest is large 640x480 and iDVD will have to recode it to 720 x 576 for PAL TV.
    I have started to learn iMovie. iMovie has at least the option to set what QT quality is required when I Export Using Quicktime option. I can set whether it is PAL/NTSC/H.264,etc., frame rate, progressive or interlace, aspect ratio, etc. iPhoto has none of these. Is this an Apple oversight? I am doubtful.
    Hey, rightly or wrongly, I am beginning to be a sceptic when it comes to Apple's intentions as those things that are missing are basics that should be part of the software.
    Hopefully in a few days time, I can post more, not if my wife can help it. Nag, nag, nag.
    F Shippey, PAL is 720 x 576. I will try a few photos by resizing as per your suggestions but first I would like to look at iMovie.
    Cheers.

  • Image flickering

    I'm using a different thread to create an animation in which image moves one pixel at a time after every 80 milliseconds or so.but the image flickers every time it is drawn at new coordinates.
    can anybody help me out.
    thanks in advance

    You aren't using double buffering and overriding update(), are you?

  • Parts of image flickers on photos

    Parts of an image flickers on photos after burning dvd. I made a Movie using imovie 08 with 2mp photos. Used ken burns effect. Some vertical and horizontal lines may flicker, e.g. roof tops, railings, etc. Not all photos have this result. Do not notice it when viewing full screen on imovie where I made the movie. Is this the old dot crawl problem or a refresh rate issue? I used pinnacle ultimate on an old pc and did not have this issue on the final dvd product.

    That flicker is common with the Ken Burns effect. Importing your photos in with the Ken Burns effect turned on seems to help a bit, but won't totally get rid of it. Usually you notice it more on the iMovie preview playback than on the final product, which, however, does not seem to be your case. I can't recall offhand the tech explanation, but someone on this formum can tell you that.
    On the Apple website you can buy Photo to Movie, which is an app that purportedly has a smooth Ken Burns type zooming effect together with a lot of other good slide show effects. Photomaggico is another good plug-in app. Both work well with iMovie.

  • Image flickers when repainting

    Hello,
    I'm trying to make an applet where a line moves sideways as the slider is moved. The code below is working but the image flickers when repainting:
    import java.awt.Graphics;
    import java.awt.Color;
    import java.awt.Scrollbar;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    public class testSlider extends java.applet.Applet implements AdjustmentListener {
      int w, h; // Applet width and height
      Scrollbar sb;
      boolean scrollChanged = false;
      int xUnit, yUnit;
      public void init(){
        //field variables initialization
        w  = this.getSize().width ;
        h  = this.getSize().height ;
        xUnit = (int) Math.round(0.1*w);
        yUnit = (int) Math.round(0.1*h);
        sb = new Scrollbar(Scrollbar.HORIZONTAL, xUnit, 1, xUnit, 9*xUnit);
        //add Scrollbar
        sb.setBounds(5, 9*yUnit,this.getWidth() -15, 15) ;
        this.setLayout(null);
        this.add(sb);
        sb.addAdjustmentListener(this ) ;
      public void paint(Graphics g){
        System.out.println("paint...") ;
        g.setColor(Color.GRAY ) ;
        g.fillRect(0,0,w, h);
        g.setColor(Color.BLACK) ;
        //set new Origin
        g.translate(w/2, 8*yUnit) ;
        if (scrollChanged ) {
          g.setColor(Color.YELLOW  ) ;
          g.drawLine(sb.getValue()-w/2, -7*yUnit, sb.getValue()-w/2, 0  );
      //AdjustmentListener method override
      public void adjustmentValueChanged(AdjustmentEvent e){
        scrollChanged=true;
        repaint();
    Can someone tell me how to prevent this flickering?
    Thank you very much.

    g.fillRect(0,0,w, h);This needs to modify quite a few pixels so it is going to be on the slow side.
    Try this: store the coordinates of the previous line you drew. When repainting, if you have drawn a line previously, first draw the old line with the background color, then draw the new line, and finally store the coordinates of the new line so you can paint over it later.
    I haven't tried that myself though.
    An alternate is to use double buffering. Google: java double buffering. But that may be slowish and CPU intensive because that too needs to touch a lot of pixels.

  • Stop Image Capture for iPhone?

    I know I can stop Image Capture opening for all devices but is there any way of stopping it open when I connect just my iPhone? I find it useful opening up when I attach a camera but not my iPhone. I'm presuming not but just thought I'd ask.

    that would be a nice feature, apple should take that as a feature request.
    i wouldn't even need an option to configure all cameras, just two switches to configure launching image capture on/off when an iphone is connected, and when a photo camera (or cardreader with compact flash card etc.) is connected.

  • Unable to stop images from auto toning in lightroom 4

    lightroom automatically auto tones images after importing them even when told not to do so in the preferences.
    Edit> preferences> presets
    I have made sure everything is unchecked.
    I previously asked this question but got no solution so i'm trying again to ask.
    here is link original: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4320121
    to sum up my problem. when I synchronize a folder it imports the images, which then starts auto toning the thumbnails and if i click on image its looks awful. so its not just the thumbnails its the image also
    this is really frustrating for me because I shoot in HDR, meaning I bracket my shots  from -3 to +3, 1 stop for each image. so what i expect is each each to go from dark to light but instead lightroom tones them automatically making each image near identical.
    its like lightroom thinks theres a problem and tries to balance each picture so instead of going from dark to light now all 5 bracketed shots look near identical because it has toned them.
    i dont know why it does this.
    i have uninstalled light room.
    deleted every folder, cache in my app data and anything related to adobe lightroom. rebooted.
    reinstalled.
    Edit> preferences> presets
    I have made sure everything is unchecked.
    then i import a folder and again it starts auto toning them.
    my work around is to select all images> right click develop settings>reset
    and now they look normal.
    so i have to do this each time, basically adding another step.
    the frustration grows because I suffer from ADD and some times I forget to reset the images after an import. grrr
    anotyher huge problem is I export images.
    when ever I have finalized the image and deem its ready for the internets I export it to a subfolder as a jpeg at 100% size and quality.
    then I synchronize the folder and it imports those new jpeg pictures
    and guess what it does, it auto tones them,
    argghhhh
    this is driving me nuts.
    all i want it lightroom to NOT auto tone anything after an import.
    i want my pictures and thumbnails to look exactly how they look.
    to be specific. after I import i can see all my thumbnails, they looks fine. i can see my bracket shots from dark to light as they should but a few seconds later i start to notice lightroom is auto toning each thumbnail one by one. its not instant it takes a a sec or so to do each thumbnail.
    I wish to prevent that...how?
    Can anyone please help me
    on my last post I tried everything everyone suggested but for some reason thread is locked and i could not reply anymore even though it states NOT answered.

    If you haven’t already, I’d delete your LR4 preferences file, in case it is corrupt.  On my 32-bit windows system, the LR4 preferences file is in the following folder:
       C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences
    and is called:
      Lightroom 4 Preferences.agprefs
    Exit LR4, and delete this file, then restart LR4, and try importing a new, never-been-seen image file.

  • How do I stop images being in the wrong position when I convert them to 3D shapes? (Ps CC)

    I am trying to make a soda can using a label that I have drawn. Whenever I turn the image layer into a 3D soda can shape, the label stretches and is in the wrong position (only part of it is on the can), but I see no settings to adjust scaling and position of the image. How can I stop this happening? I am using Photoshop CC.

    An image sequence import must start with identically sized files or the import will be based on the first image dimensions.
    If your first image is 640X480 and the next image is 800X600 it will be scaled down to 640X480 at import. You also can't mix portrait and landscape images.
    You could use software like Graphic Converter to "batch" export your images to the same scale.
    Another method would be to use iPhoto (drag your folder of images to a new album). It can make nice slide show movies and it will "center" smaller images and scale others.

  • Having major issues with Adobe Media Encoder (AME) - exporting with weird image flickering/colour anomalies, crashing regularly, freezing during encode...!

    Hi Guys
    I am having some real issues with Adobe Media Encoder (AME) at the moment.  It appears that I am unable to encode an h.264 for Vimeo from a Premiere Pro Project file at the moment without at least some weird image issues that are not supposed to be there.  These include weird flickering, colour changes, artefacts etc.  This is if I am lucky...often I am unable to get the process to complete as the application either crashes and tells me there has been a problem or it simply freezes and I have to force quit the application and often restart my machine.
    The problem seems to not to just be with h.264 for the web encodes but also with BluRay h.264 as well. As yet I haven't seen if there is a problem with MPEG-2 for DVD so I will check this out too!
    Does anyone else see this happening or does anyone know what might be the problem?
    I thought the Premiere Pro project might have been corrupt so tried a different project but the same issues were happening here too.
    Any help would be really gratefully received.
    Cheers
    EDIT - I have just found this online which is exactly the problem I am having! Thanks a bloody bunch Apple! 10.9.3 causing headaches for Mac Pro users | MacIssues

    Agreed, I now have a project to GET OUT, and AME crashes consistently 1/3 into the render. It appears to halt all processing after (real time) 00:02:30
    Am seriously considering uninstalling CC as I am beginning to find other issues in some apps, and going back to CS6/MC just so I can get work out. Durn it Adobe this is AWFUL!!
    Alright, let's try to be constructive instead of throwing rocks... but the frustration level is high, and I have material on deadline. Let's get with this, guys...
    What OS Win7, 64-bit
    What version of AME/PPro (Please be specific by getting the full version number in the About Adobe Media Encoder screen) 8.2.0.54 Ppro: 8.2.0 (65)
    When is it crashing (Again, the more detail here about where it was in the encoding process the better) roughly 1/3 into the sequence, always on exactly the same frame - tried replacing the clip with something different to see if it was a timeline error, and NO EFFECT.
    What is your source (PPro project or media file (what kind?)) PPro
    If the source if a PPro project, does it work when exporting directly from PPro? NO
    What format are you exporting to? H.264, QT, WM, tried everything my client can play.
    Do other formats work? MPEG2, QuickTime, etc? NO
    Have you tried with GPU rendering on? How about turning it off by switching to Software-only mode? Mine doesn't have any choice, it's software-only.
    Have you tried disabling Native Sequence Loading? (AME Preferences: General > Enable Native Sequence Loading) No effect
    Other things I tried: uninstalling/reinstalling AME, setting cache to a fast local disk.

  • How do I stop images when selected in Bridge from automatically opening in ACR?

    For no reason that I can think of, When I click on a single image in Bridge to preview or to try and select multiple images to load as layers or merge to HDR, the first image clicked opens in ACR. How can i Stop this?

    The images are RAW files. When I click to select the image it immediately opens in ACR. It won't let me preview the image in Filmstrip mode as it did before. It won't allow me to select multiple images as the first image selected opens ACR.
