Stopping UDO form from committing to database

Hi All,
This has actually been bothering me for quite some time. I would like to know how others are handling this problem.
When we create a UDO form, SBO will handle the Add/Update/Delete function automatically.
Normally before committing to database, we need to do a validation on the form, making sure no dirty record gets into our table.
But if the user turn off the addon when the UDO form is already opened, they can commit the record and bypass our validation.
I can think of a few ways :
1. Put the Validation in SP Notification. But this will be troublesome if a lot of fields to be validated and more if the validation gets complicated.
2. Set the Addon as mandatory. This has also a drawback, since when we set as mandatory, every user must run this addon regardless whether they are using it or not.
Can anybody share how you do this ?

As far as I know then the things are not in our hands in that case. This can be bypassed only using SP Transaction Notification.
Secondly yes, Setting the addon as mandatory has a drawback. Every user must run this addon whether he/she uses it or not.
So if I were you, I will go with the SP Transaction Notification.

If you don't want to keep using the default form - just launch it from somewhere else, simply "Activate" the appropriate menu item.
Remember that in SAP Business One 2004 every menu item has its own UniqueID. You might want to check-out the sample "AddingMenuItems" from the SDK-CD installation...;
it has some code (commented out) that will save the menu in a XML file...
Maybe you have to check the menu string for the appropriate default form as well, if you want to make the code generic.

How can I automatically fill and save PDF forms from an iSeries database file withouth viewing PDFs?

We have incoming data that we need to insert into a PDF form then save an individual PDF file for each record from the database table for our Image system. Data is coming from an iSeries file and I can Manually perform all the steps within the process, but this needs to be something that we can run from a scheduled job and should be a totally hands off process. The form is in Adobe Acrobat and I've been trying some of the JavaScript pieces, but can't seem to get everything to run automatically. I'm new to PC programming and can use any suggestions on how to handle this process.

You might want to post this to the Acrobat SDK forum here. For it to work with Acrobat, it cannot be a completely automated process, however, due to licensing (and technical) restrictions. There are a number of third-party APIs that might help. If you post again, include what format the data is in (FDF, XFDF, XML, XDP) and what programming languages you can work in.

How can i stop PDF form from scrolling?

I want to create a PDF form using Acrobat Pro XI that acts like a multi-page data input form. I'll jump to the various pages using buttons down the left side linked to pages via Javascript code. But the user can still scroll the page, which makes the form look quite strange. Is there a way to stop this scrolling, or some trick in JS that will force pages to be displayed with their top-left corner (of each page) always sitting at the top left corner of the screen?

How to stop a form from being editable

Hi,
we created a form for a client that their auditors are simply downloading, completing and submitting back to the client via form upload. the fowm contains dropdon fields and text areas. the client then needs to send the form to a third party. The form needs to be locked so no amendments can be made. The client has tried combining the form with an additional pdf, but the text areas then do not show overflow, the "+" appears in bottom right corner but can not be clicked to expand. Can someone help/advise the solution please...doing our heads in now....

There is a LoclAllFields solution, but when the fields are readOnly you will not be able to access data below the bounds of the field (not visible).
I have a form on our website that was developed a few years ago: http://www.assurehsc.ie/files/2007-08-31_Designer_Risk_Assessments_Example-1.pdf
It is intended as a sample/information/instruction tool. Because it is up on the web I wanted visitors to explore the look and feel, but not to download an use at will. So the fields are set to 'open', but the initial value is read on the enter event, stored and then on exit the original value is restored.
This is a solution from the forum (Stefan, I think). If you insert a script object called 'Utils', with the following javascript:
var sOriginalValue = "";
Then in the fields enter event:
Utils.sOriginalValue = this.rawValue; // store original value into script object variable
And in the fields exit event:
this.rawValue = Utils.sOriginalValue; // restore original value from script object variable
Utils.sOriginalValue = ""; // reset saved value
This solution runs all the time. In your case you would need a flag to track if the script it to run or not, eg turning on and off the feature.

How can I stop a JFrame from closing when clicking the close button.

I need to display a dialog when a user attempts to close my app, giving them the option to close, minimize or cancel. How can I stop the form from closing after the user makes his selection? I have the folllowing code, but my form still closes after selecting an option:

How to stop duplicate copy from printing

Dear All,
I have a typical scenario where the duplicate copy is getting printed before some cash movements.I have to stop the form from printing and the driver program is standard 1.can the control set in a smartform not to print if the cash movements are not done???
i tired using leave program but it stops the total transaction.
I only want to stop the printing of the smartform.

Copy data from a UDO form to Goods Receipt PO using UI API

Hi, all
I tried to copy data from a UDO form to Goods Receipt PO using UI API through following codes.
It works fine while copying to a Item-type Goods Receipt PO.
But when the doctype is set to service, I got errors.
I use for-loop to copy two items, Description and LineTotal, into the matrix of Goods Receipt PO form, but both failed.
any suggestion?

i inserted the documents using sql*loader, below is the control and data files.

You might have to generate an xml file from your Access Database with a list of member names. After that you can create a new data connection using Sample XML Data then map the drop down to the list.
Then every time you distribute a new form, import the latest xml generated from your Access database to update the drop-down.

How do I get a value from a portal form for a non database field ? HELP!!

I have a form based off of a table that I added a field to. The form is to allow the user to change abbreviation for a
department field ie. BIO to BIOL. for a biology department. I have a pl/sql procedure for validation using the custom option
on the update button to verify the user and update the data. I have tested to code at the sql prompt and it works.
They only difference between the prompt and the form is the non-database field new_dept_abbr was added to the
form. I don't know how to capture the value of the user input into a variable that can be used in the pl/sql.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have tried this approach
v_new_dept_abbr := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(
p_block_name => 'default',
p_attribute_name => 'new_dept_abbr'
have tried using p_attribute_name as 'a_new_dept_abbr' but this does work and does not exist in the body of the form.
Have also tried setting the p_block_name to _session - still doesn't work.
Any ideas??

satisfactory answers. I ran across an note - 137172.1 that has this snippet of information in it.
Unfortunately, at this time (portal 3.0.7.6.2) , a non-table item cannot be
referenced in a plsql event handler, only in client side JavaScript code. This
is a known limitation and will be fixed in a future release.
I don't know how to get the value from the client side JavaScript code to a pl/sql variable. Do you?
I've been trying to get them to tell me if the 'known issue' has been addressed in 3.0.9.

Formating numbers in a form after retrieving from an SQL database

I am using php to populate a form using numbers taken from an sql database. I am having a hard time showing decimal places in those numbers. The code I am using in the value section of the form is:

This code rounds all numbers up and eliminates decimal places. I am trying to show dollars and cents.
How do I alter the code to accomplish what I want.

Not sure what might come in your way here, so I just made the following simple test by using a static value rather than one which gets derived from a recordset (the source shouldn´t matter), and this works well for me without seeing the value altered in any way:

However,. for displaying numeric values you really don´t need to use htmlentities/ENT_COMPAT etc etc -- that´s something you´d rather use for displaying textual contents containg special characters like umlauts and such.
If all you need is to add some degree of protection by escaping special HTML characters (<, >, &, etc.), the function htmlspecialchars() will only be escaping just these characters and leave the rest "as is", whereas htmlentities() is notably more rigi, because this function will convert all applicable characters to HTML entities -- but again: at this point you´re just *displaying* some numeric value, that is, such security measures are pretty much pointless in this scenario, because there´s nothing to protect from ;-)
Please test what happens when doing away with the htmlentities - thing.

Trouble creating forms from remote database

Hi,
We are having problems with connecting to remote databases with portal. We can create reports fine from the remote databases but when we try to create forms, it gives the error:
'This Table does not exist or you do not have the required privileges (WWV-13020)'.
We've created a link to the remote db, and synonyms for each of the tables. I don't understand because it seems we can build reports and other components...just not forms.
If anyone has any ideas as to what the problem could be, any assistance you may provide is greatly appreciated!

Dmitry - we're having the same problems...
I've had our DBA team grant us every possible privilage we can find - but I still can't create a form from within the portal to a remote database. The wizard lets me put in the table name, ex. asset.wban_trans@drsrch, and does come up with the proper columns on the layout page of the wizard, but when I click the "Finish" button I get the following errors: Line/Column Error
733/21 PLS-00454: with a returning into clause, the table expression cannot be remote or a subquery
733/9 PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
841/16 PLS-00454: with a returning into clause, the table expression cannot be remote or a subquery
841/9 PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
The form is then listed in my applications list, but if I try and run it I get the following error:
Error: An unexpected error occurred: ORA-04063: has errors
ORA-04063: package body "PORTAL.FORM_0305092506" has errors
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called (WWV-16016)

You are correct, the On-Error trigger is a Forms trigger. However, if your Form is going to display the error generated by the database stored procedure or trigger - you might not see the database error in your Form unless you check the DBMS_ERROR_CODE in the On-Error trigger and manually display the Error Code and associated Text. I've see this happen with a co-worker. The Form she was working on was based on a table with an Before-Insert trigger. Because she was not explicitely handling the error from the Before-Insert trigger in the Forms On-Error trigger, her Form appeared to halt for no reason at all. Once she added code to the On-Error trigger in the Form to handle the DBMS_ERROR_CODE, she discovered the trigger was producing an error and was able to show the error to the user in the On-Error trigger.
I understand the desire to keep as much as possbile in the database, but with that comes some extra coding in your Forms to handle this. This extra coding could easily be placed in a Forms Library, attached to a Form and called in the On-Error trigger. Your code could look like this:

The answer is you don't because Forms already gets the database error code and database message through the Forms DBMS_ERROR_CODE and DBMS_ERROR_TEXT functions. Look these up in the Forms help and it should clear things up for you.
