Storage capacity of a Application variable?

Hi All,
I want to display a common information to all the user.
The size of the text information(may consists of html content for formatting) may vary each time.
1) Is storing the information in application variable a better way?
2) What is the storage capacity of a Application variable?
3) Cookies storage capacity is 4k and restricts certain characters.Do Application/ Session variable have storage capacity or it restricts any character.

Hello Friend,
If U are refering about the mem size of implicit Application varible in JSP.
Then i think U are refering to an Instance related to ServletContext.
If that is the case it enitrely depens on the webserver you are using.There would few option by which one can fix the cache size but again how to manage that cache space specified between ServletContext,HttpSession,HttpServletRequest and PageContext is entirely dependent upon webserver you are using.....

and as far as restriction is concerned i don't think u would have restriction of storing any unicode charecters..... But i'm not completely sure abt it through.

Ipod Touch showing incorrect storage capacity

I have an Ipod Touch 64 GB 5th Gen running iOS 8.2. I'm not certain when this issue occurred initially from the devices perspective - only when I first noticed it. The device was running 8.1.1.3 at the time. I was working with it in Itunes and clicked on the iPods summary screen to check for the iOS 8.2 update. I noticed the capacity of the device was showing as 56.62 GB. Available space was 43.19. The little memory symbol for the Ipod shows 64 GB. I was troubled by the capacity message. Total of Audio, Video and App Data is 14.12 GB. Available shows 43.19 GB. That adds up to 57.31.GB. So there is a 700 K discrepancy. Total Photo Data happens to be 700 K. Just saying.

You only have 56.6 GB available to you. The difference between that and the 64 GB advertised capacity is taken up by:
The operating system since you can't use that for storage
and how GB is advertised and used/reported by the operating system. See:

The update did not change anything except likely reducing the capacity by 10 or so MB since update typically add things and thus takes more storage for the operating system

Storage Capacity Problem - Macbook Air 11.6"

I got this MBAir last December, and sometime last month had a complete crash... why, because I was forced to terminate a certain application, everything frozen, and I force off (holding power button for 5 seconds)
History:
1. I installed a new partition for XP, not via bootcamp because I was having problem acquiring the drivers, size is 9G.
2. 128G as I remember shows as my storage capacity (or if not, it could be only minus 1-2G)
3. I realized, I don't need the XP at all, so I decided to have it deleted, but I could not delete it via Disk Utility so I left the app (Disk U) running at the background, and did something else.
4. Frozen... force restart.
5. Start up disk (both Mac and PC) could not be detected.
6. I inserted the flash drive startup disk, and performed the Disk Utility VERIFY AND REPAIR, but not successful.
7. Ran REFORMAT and REPARTITION.
Now I only have one partition, restored my Time Machine Backup, and everything was restored back, but I noticed huge amount of storage space missing. About 9 G.
Can someone help me with this please??
By the way, I now run Leopard 10.6.4, and still running the update (download) of the 1.06G file size... it takes days before completion with my current Satellite Internet connection.

Now, you can. Your SSD has a capacity of 128,000,000,000 bytes (this is the method device manufacturer's use. You will find this noted in the footnote on the MBA's specs: +1GB=1 billion bytes; actual formatted capacity may be less+.) If you divide the above by 1024^3 it will equal 119.21 GBs or 120,000,000,000 bytes, approximately. Hence what appears to be a loss of storage space. In actuality the two are the same. One computed using Base 10 and the other using Base 2 arithmetic.
You can approximate the difference on any drive by deducting about 7% from the manufacturer's stated capacity. For a 128 GB drive that is about 8.96 GBs - your missing 9 GBs.)

Storage capacity question

I have a macbook air with 121 GB flash storage capacity. I currently use x amount of applications 11gb, movies 13gb, photos 16 gb,music 6 gb, etc. However, it also states that I use 60 gb of 'other'. What can other be? I have nowhere near such a huge amount of data on my computer.

"Other" is EVERYTHING else not otherwise specified by the preset label types. It includes the operating system, other data, and numerous other application support files.
You can use products like Omni DiskSweeper, Daisy Disk, and Grand Perspective to further breakdown and identify your file types and space they take. DiskSAweeper will aid you in group file removal too.

As such DMS storage capacity is not there... u have to define DMS storage capacity on content server with reference to document generation capacity. e.g we have to find out application wise document generation means for MS Word how much is legacy data.. how much is data generating over period of time... compression ratio and user to keep log space... likewise we have to find out for each application and then by adding all these we will get the required capacity of content server.. JavaME SDK 3.0 storage capacity

Hi,
I am using Sun JavaME sdk 3.0 for developing JavaME applications. I want to know how to increase the storage capacity in sdk 3.0.
In sdk 2.5 i can go to edit->preferences in the toolkit and change the storage location and the maximum storage capacity, but i am not able to find it in sdk 3.0.
Therefore please let me know how to do these settings in sdk 3.0.

It'd indeed be nice to increase the storage capacity, which seems to be about 200kB by default. Also, it's not persistent, but gets deleted after the emulator closes. I found properties files in toolkit-lib/devices/<device_name>/conf but they don't have any properties for storage.

Storage capacity of iTunes on an iPhone

Before I buy and iPhone I would like to know what is the storage capacity of iTunes is on the iPhone, average # of songs. I have 2700 songs stored on my iPod; the AT&T store rep said the iphone wouldn't hold that much but he couldn't tell me what it would hold. Also I understand that music playback uses lots of battery, is this true?

What capacity iPhone are you considering?
My 32GB iPhone 3GS currently has 2552 songs on it and is nowhere near full. It also has 2 TV series and 5 movies, plus 71 applications and 209 photos with 7.7GB free.
It all depends on what quality and length these songs you have are, and the capacity of iPhone you get.
On a 32GB iPhone you'll easily fit 2700 songs.
Music playback does not use lots of battery. Out of all the things the iPhone can do, music playback is possibly one of the least power hungry.

Problem with application-variables - CFLOCK?

Hi,
i have a problem with my application. It is a multi-user
application with 100 parallel-users and CFMX 7.
The problem wich occures is with application variables. These
are mainly structs wich get filled onApplicationStart(). The
problem is, that the variables suddenly disappear, they are empty.
I have read about CFLock and found out, that it is necesseary
to use cflock. And i found out, that onApplicationStart does
correct locking automatically. That is where i do not understand
the problem. The variables get intialized correctly and in further
they only get read-access. Why can they be corrupted?
My other question about that is, wheather i need cflock for
all Read-Access to Application and Session-Variables, even if there
happens no writing to the variables?

Well, OK, that could be a problem. Arrays are not structs:
they are two
different things, are not interchangeable, and have
completely different
sets of functions to utilise them. You cannot treat a struct
as an array.
If CF is claiming your "struct" is an array, then it actually
*is* an
array, not a struct.
What's the line of code which is generating that error?
I suppose one could get this error if you have an array of
structs thus:

and you're trying to reference it with a numeric key rather
than by key
name, eg:

[n]
When n is an integer value, rather than a string (which
corresponds to the

request one. It's pretty easy for you to test this though, I
should think?

One thing I will say here is that I really think you should
be separating
your processing from your display. A function should do
processing. it
should pass that processing back to a CFM template which
should handle
whatever needs to be displayed on the browser. Although
that's nowt to do
with your current issue.

CHeck out iTunes Match which has an annual fee of £21 or thereabouts. You can store a maximum of 25,000 songs there and they all become available on your other kit, iPhone, iPad and iPod. I know it works as I have over 23000 songs uploaded of which only a few we're bought through iTunes.
it works by comparing your music to the whole iTunes music dadata base so you access the same tunes that you could get from iTunes. If you have obscure stuff, it uploads your own music to the cloud as a copy.
I Find it incredible that on my iPhone with its 16gb memory I can view almost 200 gb of music (ie my 23000 songs) and play any of them. Anything I add to iTunes becomes available via the cloud fairly quickly from a few minutes or a little longer if adding a lot.
The first time you use it it will take quite a while to match your music if you have a lot, but after that it is all automatic. Read the stuff on the apple site. Your PC needs to be at least running Vista. I recommend it and at less than 50p a week it's good value.

Can I use HP System Recovery Disks on a new hard drive replacement with a lower storage capacity?

Can I use the HP System Recovery Disks from my HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertaimnent Notebook PC when I replace the failing hard drive with a smaller storage capacity hard drive? Right now it is a Toshiba 750GB SATA hard disk drive, 5400 RPM, 2.5 inch small form factor (SFF) and I am planning to replace it with the Toshiba HDKCB26 500GB 2.5 inch Hybrid Hard Drive. I read that I cannot use a System Image to restore the hard drive because it is a smaller capacity then the original Hard Drive. If this is true, it seems that my only option is to use the HP Recovery Disks.

Normally the HP recovery disks don't work on a smaller hard drive either, but it may be possible in your case if HP offered a 500 GB HDD in that model series.
No guarantees though.

Yes, I do good work is correct, I have not thought to migrate from Oracle XE to SQL Server Express because it could not work with the flexibility of PL / SQL and other Oracle features own, however, SQL Server 2008 R2 Express if takes the lead XE in storage, at which Oracle Corp. will match or exceed, offer more storage in response to competition and not only compensate for the limitation of 4GB with Excellency good features.
