Store/cache variable values in BPEL

Hi All,
I have a scenario where I need to get the password by calling a web service A (Which dynamically generates passwords) from a BPEL process and and pass it to other web service B. This password is valid for a few hours and it is not predicted how long it would be valid.
But till it is valid, I need to use it to call web service B. Web service B is called from some other BPEL processes also so I want to store the password somewhere so that it can be used by other BPEL processes.
I can invoke the Web service A to get password from other BPEL processes also but don't want to do that because of performance issues.
One place I can think of storing the password is to populate XREF table on the invocation of web service A and then retrieve from it wherever needed in other BPEL processes.
If it is expired then again invoke web service A, update the XREF table and use it.
Please give your inputs if there is any other way of doing this.
- Sam

Hi,
follow the below code.
data:
     l_value type string,
     l_value1 type string,
     l_val(5) type p decimals 3 value '12.345',
     l_len type i,
     l_len1 type i.
     l_value = l_val.
     condense l_value.
     l_len = strlen( l_value ).
     if l_value cs '.'.
        l_len = l_len - sy-fdpos - 1.
        l_len1 = sy-fdpos + 1.
        l_value1 = l_value+l_len1(l_len).
        l_value = l_value+0(sy-fdpos).

  • How to set List of String as variable value in BPEL

    I am using java embedding to invoke a method which returns a list of strings. I need to set these values in a variable in BPEL to be used later. I am getting following error while setting the value.

    What else do I need to do to convert the List to the xml elements ?

    Well I believe this is not officially mentioned anywhere, but this is the limitations for the java embedding activity. You can assign value to a single variable or to the single part element of variable only. I suggest you go with a java web service. you can check more details on java embedding activity @ http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_java.htm

  • To pass new session variable value to stored proc before running a report.

    Hi,
    Below is summary of the report requirement -
    Database level design
    1. Created a view and a global temporary table (GTT)
    2. Created an Oracle package procedure to accept from and to business dates on basis of which it will fetch, process and populate the GTT.
    Repository level design
    1. Created a business model containing the view and the GTT (mentioned above)
    2. Created two SESSION variables "from_dt" and "to_dt" to be initialized by their respective init blocks. Each of the variable is initialized with a DATE column value (of type DATETIME) from a database lookup table. I have also set the option "Enable that variable to be set by any user" for both variables.
    Query for these variables :
    from_dt = select from_date from <table>
    to_dt = select add_months(from_date,12) from <table>
    Presentation level design
    1. Using a text box, i display the default/initialized values of these variables like this -
    Current business date:@{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.from_dt']} Future business dt:@{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.to_dt']}
    Dates get displayed in YYYY-MM-DD 00:00:00 format
    The text msg displays these default dates and allows the user to specift different date range for which i create prompts as shown below.
    2. Using any random two columns of date type from the business model, i create two date dashboard prompts with labels "From Dt" and "To Dt".
    i select Calender Controls for both; setting Default To = Report Defaults.
    The Set Variable is set to Presentation variables - such that pv_from_dt maps to "From Dt" and pv_to_dt maps to "To Dt".
    3. i create the report using the business model created above. In the report "Advanced Tab" => "Prefix" field i specify the following -
    SET VARIABLE from_dt='@{pv_from_dt}',to_dt='@{pv_to_dt}';
    Note : The logic here is to display the default dates and allow user to specify different date values which will be stored in presentation variables.
    If the user does specify different "from dt" and "to dt" values, then using the presentation variables, i want to "write" back these new values to the corresponding session variables mentioned above.
    If the user does not specify different date range, then the default/initialized dates must be considered.
    I also display the default and new date values in the report title.
    Back to Repository level design
    To execute the stored procedure that will load the GTT before running the report I need to pass two date parameters to the stored procedure on basis of which it will fetch data, process and populate the GTT.
    In the Connection Pool --> Connection Script Tab --> Execute before query, I wrote the below query using the repository variables FROM_DT and TO_DT to execute the procedure -
    DECLARE
    v_from_dt date;
    v_to_dt date;
    BEGIN
    v_from_dt := VALUEOF(From_Dt);
    v_to_dt := VALUEOF(To_Dt);
    package_name1.package_body(v_from_dt,v_to_dt);
    END;
    Now when i try to run the report i get the following error :
    [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 23006] The session variable, NQ_SESSION.to_dt, has no value definition. (HY000)..
    Need help on this.
    Is it possible to "write back" a new value to a session variable ?
    Any other alternatives.
    Thanks

    Sandeep, I found a several topics where users describe saving values in DB through stored procedure or function. For example, [How to store OBIEE presentation level variable values in DB |http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=892006] I tried it and get an error
    *10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 14551, message: ORA-14551: cannot perform a DML operation inside a query ORA-06512*
    It's not a BI error. This error are generated by Oracle DB. If I write next:
    SELECT MyPLSQLFunction(p1,p2) FROM DUAL
    I get the same error.
    Oracle doesn't allow DML operations in SELECT.
    Did you relalize this feature yourself? Where did I mistake?

  • Assigning a Jython variable value to an ODI variable

    I have to implement database cursor functionality in ODI.
    For storing the returned values from database, I am using a Jython list.
    The next functionality that I have to implement is as follows:
    (i) For each value in the Jython list, I have to pass that value as a variable to an interface and then execute the interface
    (ii) Return back to the Jython list to get the next value in it
    (iii) Execute the interface for the new value from Jython list
    (iv) Have to execute the interface for as many values as in the list and stop when list is over.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your replies.
    I tried your method of using source as a query in procedure and using ODI startScen in the Target of the same procedure. But the scenario runs only once, and then stops even though the Source query returns 4 rows.
    Do we have to write Source and Target in separate steps of the procedure?
    Does ODI store the many records returned into some internal variables?
    I need to implement a cursor functionality so what is the best approach?
    Can i pass array variable value to some odi variables and do a loop?
    I used a workaround....it works but dont know if that's a good way of doing things:
    I retrieved all the different values that I need in a string by appending the values(this was done using Java loop).
    In my next step in the procedure I call a scenario(package which has some variables and my interface), which passes this long variable from Java as <@...@>
    Then in the package I use an iteration variable which is used to find out the SubString position so that I can extract the correct string to use for my Interface in the next step of the Package.
    It is working fine as of now.....but things could be made simpler if I could call the scenario in the Java loop, then I wouldn't need the iteration variable etc.

  • How can I pass a variable  value from first jsp page to thired jsp page

    In my program ,threr are three jsp pages . I want the first pages's variable value in to thired page .How can I acess.
    I used the request.getparameter() ,but when I print the value , null value is getting .

    request parameters only last for one request.
    To save them longer than that you need to save them somewhere.
    Couple of alternatives
    1 - store them to session
    session.setAttribute("username", request.getParameter("username");
    2 - create a hidden field on page 2 and store the value from page 1 there. When you submit page2, you can get it on page3 with request.getParameter again.
    <input type="hidden" name="username" value="<%= request.getParameter("username") %>">

  • Use AQ Adapter Header Message ID Value in BPEL Process

    Hi guys,
    I'm trying to obtain the value of the message_id in a header variable created in a receive branch activity linked to an AQ Adapter, i've created the variable in the adapter tab of the receive activity and linked the message type variable with the InBound WSDL of the header. I want to use this message_id value obtained in the dequeue operation to set as correlation_id in a future enqueue. The question is, when i do a copy operation in an assign activity of the message_id in the first header variable (dequeue) to the second header variable (enqueue) the BPEL raises an error telling me that the variable was empty, can you help me with this? Am i doing the whole thing wrong? I'm using the 10g version on R3.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Anuj,
    I selected "Receive" while configuring B2B adapter. While creating the BPEL process to receive the message, i have created it as Empty BPEL process "Define WSDL later". Then i configured the B2B adapter. In the Empty BPEL process i place a receive activity and wire the B2B adapter. Operation available in Receive activity is "Receive". I'm i configuring wrongly?
    Thanks,

  • Container Variable value not reflected in Alert message

    Hi All,
    In BPM, i am trying to set an Alert message which will send the message in alert Inbox. Here i have stored a value from the message in a container variable. This Container variable value is used in the Alert message in the form of &variable&. But whenever i specify container variable value, it is not reflected in the Long text of Alert Inbox. In Alert category i have also checked the Dynamic text. Still it is not coming.
    Can u suggest what is the possible solution for this.
    Thanks in advance
    Ashish

    I was able to get the Alert Message by changing container variable from "Block " to "Process". But It was containing the value of the first message.
    Actually i am having a scenario in which i am transforming a File message input into multiple messages based on its PO number using multi mapping. These messages are send as IDOCs using Parrallel for Each block, where i store the PO number in the container variable and use it in alert message. So for that i have to use this block name as container and not as a Process.
    Can anybody tell me why this Container Variable value is not reflected in the alert message.
    Thanks in advance
    Ashish

  • Sharing complex substitution variable values between ASO and BSO databases

    We have ASO and BSO Essbase database member names with spaces in, and need to store some of these member names in substitution variables. However, this has to be done differently for ASO and BSO, due to calc script syntax requiring double quotes and MDX requiring square brackets. For example:
    ASO:
    &CurWeek value = Week 1
    MDX: [&CurWeek]
    BSO:
    &CurWeek value = "Week 1"
    Calc Script: &CurWeek
    As a result, the substitution variables cannot be shared between the ASO and BSO cubes, since the BSO variable value requires double quotes due to the space in the member name.
    Is there a way to get the above to work with both ASO and BSO? Can the double quotes be escaped in calc script syntax? Or can the double quotes be removed in the MDX formula?

    Hi TimG,
    Apologies for such a late reponse to this, genuinely haven't had a spare second to reply until now!
    Yes, I suspect a complex alias name may be the best solution here, and to remove the spaces from the actual member names.
    I was not aware of the latter part at all. My colleague has confirmed as much on this too - DBAG 11.1.2.1 pp117 & 118:
    "Note: If a substitution variable value is numeric or a member name starting with a
    numeral or containing the special characters referred to above is to be used both
    in MDX and non-MDX situations, create two substitution variables, one without
    the value enclosed in quotation marks and one with the value in quotation marks."
    "To ensure that a new substitution variable value is available in formulas, partition definitions,
    and security filters, stop and restart the application. All other uses of substitution variables are
    dynamically resolved when used."
    This last paragraph is the most concerning since we were planning to be able to update substitution variables values and then access the new values from calc scripts and formulae instantaneously. This quirk is unexpected and a little inconvenient. We may have to look at scheduling a change of substitution variable value overnight, followed by a stop/start of the app ready for the next day, and to work around needing to access changed values instantly.

  • Query variable values in bookmarks (portal favourites)

    Hi,
    Basic problem: When 2 different users save their modified query views they behave differently. In other case the favourite opens straight to the report without displaying the variable screen and in the other case the variable screen is shown with preselected values.
    We'd like to standardize the function throughout the organization in such a way that every saved query view would behave so that the selection variable values would be automatically populated and the report would open without displaying the variable screen.
    We ran the same report in debugging mode and found several differencies:
    BI_TARGET_IVIEW (missing from the report which doesn't show variable screen)
    BusinessParameters
    - With Var Screen: Contains more information, f.ex. BW-client, and the technical name of the query
    - Without Var Screen: Just the bookmark technical ID
    ContentLink
    - With Var screen: QUERY=SALES_MP_Q0009&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X
    - Without Var screen: empty field

    RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 format)
    B. But if user is creating bookmark from portal framework.. like add to portal favorite or add to browser favorite in toolbar of portal, it only store the navigation struture of portal role.
    A.1 Regarding showing Variable screen.
    IN BEx Template, if we set  Show Variable Screen  as OFF, It will not show variable screen provided the mandatory filelds are there. For case A, Since Bookmark ID providing all the variables information it will not show Variable screen.

  • Variable values in the Webgui Service of an ITS

    Hello,
    I can define fixed values in the webgui service parameters (GUI configuration in the ITS webgui service in SICF transaction), does someone know if I can define variable values? Instead of a literal...
    I know I could do it passing this value when calling the R/3 transaction from the iview, but I can not do this now.
    Is there any possibility? Does someone have any idea? I need to get the value in the portal, and check it in R/3, but I do not know how can I get it in R/3...
    Thank you very much! Regards,
    Araitz.

    In the future, please start a new thread with a new question/issue. Thanks.
    Each root AM has its own connection and your VPD context would need to be set independently for each one. You could write generic code in a framework extension class for application modules that each of your root AM's extends in order to better refactor that common/reusable code, but each root AM would have its own separate connection at runtime.
    Despite it's not being possible, the easiest answer to your second question would be to call getDBTransaction().rollback() to rollback the transaction. By default this would clear the caches and the next time your VO instance gets used it would requery.

    Actually I got it to work, and I'm not sure why it hasn't worked before.

  • How can I store 2 GB value

    Hi,
    Can I store 2 GB value (2 * 1024 * 1024 * 1024) in long type variable? if it doesn't hold the value is there any other way to store the value?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Venkat

    The range of primitives is as follows:
    byte -2^7 - 2^7-1
    short -2^15 - 2^15-1
    int -2^31 - 2^31-1
    long -2^63 - 2^63-1
    Thus an int can store a value between -2147483648 and 2147483647.
    long will store values between -9223372034707292161 and 9223372036854775807.
    Your 2GB value = 2147483648 is only 1 past what an int can store.
