Can anybody tell me how to store the images in an oracle 11g database and i want it in forms 10g

Once the images are stored in table then in form
Create a new item in form and type as Image and change the image format to what format u have stored in DB.
Now Compile the form and check whether the images are getting displayed in forms.

Calling Stored procedure in Oracle 11g from Oracle forms developer 6i

We have Oracle 11g (11.1.0.7.0 ) database (64 bit) installed on Windows Server 2008.
In this database, we have stored procedure ABC(arg1) which is accesing a table in another instance through DB LINK. If we EXECUTE this procedure from SQL/TOAD. It runs successfully and generates the desired output.
If we write the contents of the stored procedure in the PROGRAM UNIT / ANY TRIGGER in FORM 6i then also, It runs successfully and generates the desired output.
It is also mentioned, that if we try to use any table in the same instance (and not through DBLINK) then it works fine.
However, if we try to call this stored procedure (which is accesing a table in another instance through DB LINK) from ORACLE FORMS 6i in WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger then the FORM BUILDER gets hanged while compiling the form developed in FORMS 6i.
Please provide a solution to this problem.

Forms 6i was never meant to run against a 11g database, this was not tested and is also not supported.Well, that is not completely true. Developer 6i is supported against a 11g database, but only for Oracle Apps R11. That means that for most other customers (not Apps) Forms 6i will work against an 11g database. However, only Apps R11 is supported, and patches are only created specifically for Apps. We are also running Forms 6i against an 11g database without (well, minor) problems.
In this case, you need to find a solution. You can try to put the stored procedure in a package. The package body, with the reference to the remote table, will be hidden from Forms this way.

The single most fundamental concept you need to understand (grok in its fullness) is:
ORACLE IS NOT SQL-SERVER

Storing Images In Oracle 9.2 Using Forms 6i

When my database was 8.1.7, storing Images in the database in BLOB field worked fine through Form 6i. But when the database was upgraded to 9.2 then the images are not loaded in the database through Forms 6i.

I wanted to do the same thing and faced the same problem. I'm working on Forms 6i and Oracle 9i as backend.
When an Image item is created on forms, it's datatype is set to Long Raw. You can see this by changing the type of the image item to text item. You'll see that the datatype is Long Raw. The idea of inserting the image would work perfectly if you set the datatype of the column to Long Raw in the backend.
For using BLOB... I searched alot but all in vain. No answer as to how to handle BLOB in Forms 6i.
Do let me know if you get a way out.

Is DDL is suported in ogg from sqlserver 2005 to oracle 11g xe

i want to use ogg to trasfer all tables and sp from sql server 2005 to oracle 11g xe. (using windows 2008,ogg112101_ggs_Windows_x86_ora11g_32bit.zip)
is it suported? becasue i read "Extraction or replication of DDL (data definition language) operations.Non-supported objects and operations for SQL Server" in

Does that mean even i cant migragte MSSQL stored procedure to oracle 11g xe also?Correct. You can't do that with GoldenGate. However, as Steve mentioned, you should look into SQL Developer migration capabilities (formally Migration Workbench). It can convert some T-SQL to PL/SQL but you'll need to do some (probably a lot) of custom code changes. Porting application logic from one language to another is basically a holy grail for IT systems. OGG will convert datatypes on the fly but it will never port application logic on the fly.

When does Oracle plan to update the jdk and jvm used in Oracle 11g stored procedures?
Oracle 11g ships with java 1.5, which reached EOL in October, 2009.

Thus, the compiler and VM used to provide Java functionality in the Oracle Database are ~2.5 years beyond the era when they were officially supported.

Currently , the java version in the database cannot be upgraded - this is being looked upon as a future option.

Accessing Image from oracle to VB.

How can access the stored image in oracle 8.0 table to Visual BASIC 6.0.?
PLease give me the help regarding to its supporting file , if it is using any file, like ocx, dll etc.
And also give me the links for getting its ocx and dll files.

Export chksum of stored procs from Oracle Database

Does anyone know how I would export a checksum of stored procedures and packages that are stored in a oracle 11g db?
I need to extract this information and then with a script that I will create I need to compare a chksum of what is in my Liquibase. I need to create this to alert me when a dba or engineer makes a change in the database but does not make the same change in Liquibase.
It was suggested to me that there might be some function I could use to do this or possibly use datapump in some way.
Anyone have any ideas?

At some point in time, a change will exist within PROD & not in Liquibase.
How much elapsed time is allowed between making 1st & doing Liquibase?

Image not displaying in pdf report using XSL-FO and using Oracle 11g databa

I have created over 15 reports using XSL-fo, with the following syntax to display an image on the pdf:

This syntax works fine when using Oracle 10g, now my database has been upgraded to 11g and my image no longer displays in the reports. I have already upload the image into the database as a workspace image.
I have tried to point the image @ the image by using url(#WORKSPACE_IMAGE#marforcom_symbol_rpts.gif)
or <img src ="#IMAGE_PREFIX#marforcom_symbol_rpts.gif")
and it still doesn't work.
I have searched this forum trying to come up with a solution that will fix my problem and am unable to.
Current config: Oracle 11g, using pl/sql gateway.
I need to know how to point the xsl-fo file to the database, where the image now resides.

I think you need load images to database XDB virtual directory /i/ and then use #IMAGE_PREFIX# substitution.

MS SQL Server system stored procedures can't be migrated into Oracle 11g

During database migration from MS SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11g R2, if the application stored procedure invokes the MS SQL Server system stored procedures (for example: sp_getapplock, sp_releaseapplock ....), these SQL server system stored procedures can't be transferred. How to migrate data fSQL server 2005 Tables with image column To ORACLE 11g

Hi ....
I am in the middle of migrating our database from sqlserver 2005 version to ORACLE 11g instance, and i'm facing a problem when trying to load data into one of the oracle table which has blob column and some more. The data file was extracted from sql server 2005 table which has image column and some more. All other columns are sinking with the migration as expected but the image column is not getting loaded into oralce blob.
I tried loading data using sqlloader.
Is there any other way to migrate data directly between these two versions of database?. Pls help...

To link Oracle with SQL Server follow this steps:
1-Install Oracle ODBC drivers on the server (your local Oracle database) that will access the remote SQL Server database using the database link.
2. Setup the ODBC connection on the local Oracle database using the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator
3. Test the ODBC drivers to ensure that connectivity is made to the SQL Server database.
4. Ensure that your global_names parameter is set to False.
5. Configure the Oracle Heterogeneous services by creating an initodbc.ora file within the Oracle database.
7. Modify the Listener.ora file.
SID_NAME is the DSN for the remote database.
ORACLE_HOME is the actual Oracle home file path.
PROGRAM tells Oracle to use heterogeneous services.

Storing more than 2000 characters in a varchar2 column in Oracle 11g?

We have a table in Oracle 11g with a varchar2 column. We use a proprietary programming language where this column is defined as string. Maximum we can store 2000 characters (4000 bytes) in this column. Now the requirement is such that the column needs to store more than 2000 characters. The DBAs don't like BLOB, CLOB or LONG datatypes for maintenance reasons.
There are 2 solutions I can think of -
1. Remove this column from the original table and have a separate table for this column and then store each character in a row, in order to get more than 2000 characters. This table will be joined with the original table for queries.
2. If maximum I need is 8000 characters, can I just add 3 more columns so that I will have 4 columns with 2000 char each to get 8000 chars. So when the first column is full, values would be spilled over to the next column and so on.
Which one is a better and easier approach? Please suggest.

Visu - Some people also do not like to use LOBs because of difficulty in reclaiming space and ever increasing LOB segments. Some of these problems were caused by Oracle bugs (eg, Bug 2944866 Free space in LOB table / tablespace not reused with ASSM, Bug 3019979 Space may not be reused efficiently in a LOB segment) - albeit in 9.2. I've seen a few bug reports for similar things in 10.2 (don't have the references). Still, if there is a workaround/patch is this reason enough to steer the application development into a new direction?

Unable to view the image in Oracle Mapbuilder

What should i do with an Oracle 11g Database, MySQL database and a dump file.

I just joining to a new work field, almost about a database and i know "NOTHING" about this field.
My company has a system that running by Oracle Database, the problem is that Oracle Database will cost a lot of money when my company expands.
So the quest is converting Oracle Database to MySQL database.
Of course i cant try to convert it in the main Database, so i create one Oracle 11g Database on my LocalHost, and it already actived in " Localhost:1158 " etc.
I have another Sever test that already set up MySQL database, and a dump file from the system.
So I want to ask these 2 questions :
1. How to create an new Oracle Database from that dump file ?
2. Is it alright if i use tool to convert Oracle Database into MySql, or i should do it manually ?

I predict that converting to MySQL will cost your company more as it expands. As you expand managing contention becomes more important - Oracle does this for you. I do not think MySQL does, so you'll have to write more code to deal with this, costing the company money. A big part of making application scalable and reliable is to use stored procedures, how good are MySQL's compared to PL/SQL's. What other features are there that MySQL has that will benefit your company that Oracle doesn't. What do you need to think about as your company expands that need to be taken care of in the database. I would have thought a migration from MySQL to Oracle would be more common to deal with expansion.
As you know "NOTHING" you need to think about what each database can give you for the next 10 years to cope with you businesses potential requirements, and extimate how much it will cost to implement these requirements, then make the decision
