Strange Audio Recording Problem

Hope someone can help!
Out of the blue, we set up to transfer 9 tracks
via 9652 into Logic Pro 7. Done this many times.
Got everything setup, track names, record file path,
started the input and the meters are moving in the channels.
All looks good. Record enable all tracks, hit Record,
all looks good - except no wave info is showing up, ie - no
recording is happening. I also noticed that the Bar Ruler
turns red when recording - I do not remember seeing
this - but this may be normal.
NEW Info:
When I say "No Recording" - usually, as the SPL moves
across the screen, the recorded audio tracks show up
behind it. Well - in this case - the SPL moves across the
screen, and nothing appears behind it.
This song is set up as a "project" and all of the folders
that are normally created for a project have indeed been created
by Logic. We are sure that this is cockpit error on our part,
we just have never had this problem ?!?!?!?
Any ideas??

The Ruler should be red when recording. Verify you have an audio channel selected if nothing is created after the SPP. From the sounds of it you are not even creating audio files/recording, as opposed to blank audio files, correct? After that verify you have all the right settings or try 1 track at a time. The objects are still existent and enabled? (This would show full channel strips for each track-which you can for example, insert a plugin). A few suggestions. Can you do this from a higher level of the arrange?

  • Audio recording problem in Cap 5

I have used earlier Captivate editions a great deal and never had audio recording problems.  I am getting a weak scratchy audio recording.  I have tried in Vista, Win 7 and with multiple microphones.  What can be the problem?

  • Audio Recording Problem - distorted

    Hey all,
I got an audio recording problem here...
When I try to record audio onto my project, the sounds is very poor and distorted. Plus, there is a pretty ugly delay. But when I use garageband, the sound is great and how it should be. So this makes me think that Logic has some sort of problem with my driver (Firebox) or somethin'.
    Here's my Setup
    -imac G5
-Logic Pro 7.2 (Bought just a few days ago)
    -Presonus Firebox (audio interface)
    -Condensor Mic
    Cheers!

    Hi,
It is possible that your FireBox is not the audio card set up in Logic, and that you are accidentally recording the built-in mic.
If Garageband is seeing your FireBox corrctly, then it is the setup in Logic, and nothing else, that you should be looking at.
Check your audio hardware and drivers.
    Cheers

  • Stereo Audio Record problem (While recording video as well)

    Hi,
I just just bought Sony Xperia C3 dual yesterday. I'm having problem with audio recording. I installed the Sony audio recorder from Google play store but while recording in stereo mode with it the gain suddenly drops after 1/2 second(s). Same problem while recording a video with stock camera app as well, video quality is fine but the audio with it is,just worst. Tried third party app like regorge pro but faced the same problem. Tried disabling the AGC with it, but no good. Recording in mono mode just works fine and I get clear record.
    Any solution?
    Thanks.

@uliwooly  This one i recorded today morning. The audio starts good & clear at the begining but just after one second it drops & then you can hear the bus engine sounds like waterfall. Here is the youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H1jNxyYMlw Here's another video uploaded by a review site with the same problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3vKwydfN6U & more from youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GLLj2ommP4  then i used a third party audio recorder with mic switch option https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6d4uAEZFRE as usual with the rear mic the gain suddenly drops after second & you can hear some weird sounds like a "movie bomb" sound at 00:04, "rattle snake" sound at 00:05 & 00:12 & with the front mic starts at 00:17 you can hear the difference. It's mono but so clear & sharp.  Finally, as i dont have the mic swith option while recording video, all videos i record will have the same problem. This is definitely not  the typical "sony" thing to carry on.

  • Audio Recording problem when pause, goes back to beginning of recording

I audio recorded lecture. When I pause or stop, then resume, audio recording starts from the beginning instead of from where it was paused. WHY?

Did you Copy over the full folder structure from your SD card? You will want to do that, and not just Copy over the media files. PrE (and PrPro) uses some of those other files.
    Good luck,

  • AUDIO RECORDING,PROBLEM

the problem is i recorded 2 tracks of the same song, since i found no clear way to enter virtual tracks,i used audio 1 channel for one rehearsal, audio 2 track for the 2nd rehearsal. the audio 2 track then proceeded to disappear from the arrange and mixer screen along with the recording.this is a classical recording that i am rehearsing and i do not have time to search the manual. where did it go? is there an easy way to do virtual tracks on the same stereo channel?? i am using 2 mikes on an acoustic piano

the audio 2 channel had dissapeared from the mixer and arrange window,i ended up closing the session without saving because nothing woulkd retrieve it.obviously this lost the recording, which made me lose confidence in logic pro.i'm looking for a system i can record audio and midi with no glitches, the designers should make the parameters easier to find, especially ones that are so basic as what i need at this time, but thats my opinion.so far i have found no programs on apple computors or pcs that are glitch free and i have spent far more time searching for menus than playing any instrument, but it was my idea to try to make my own recordings so i am to blame.your companies do a fine job however drawing in unsuspecting musicians with ease of use claims and for this all of the software and computer companies should be applauded.

  • N96 audio recording problem, plz help

Hi everyone , this is my first post and I need help.
    I bought n96 2 months ago.
When I record -video or audio- there is noisy noise in the backgroud that sometimes is unbearable, I downloaded the vidoes and sound to my pc and yeah it's bad
the problem isn't new, is this a hardware issue? because I fotmatted the phone and upgraded it and nothing has changed.
    what should I do?

This is a known (and very annoying) bug with the N96.
Hopefully they will fix it in the next software update.  The exact date of this update is unknown but shouldn't be too far away.
It is also unknown if this update will actually fix the problem or not.
You should complain to nokia using the "contact us" link near the top of the page.  The more people that complain the more likely they are to fix it.

  • Strange audio sync problems

I was experiencing problems similar to those I've read in other threads here, where AIFF files imported into FCP were gradually drifting out of sync. On my current project, I switched the audio to MOV files instead hoping that would alleviate the problem, but it didn't. Here's the situation I most recently encountered:
I have a 7-minute film which is broken up into three QuickTime MOV files, each file containing both video and audio. I also have the audio saved in a separate audio-only MOV file. When I place the three video segments sequentially in an After Effects timeline and then drop in the audio file, the audio file is exactly as long as the video, to the frame, and it sounds perfectly in sync throughout. But when I drop the EXACT SAME FILES into FCP, the audio file is 10 frames shorter than the video. Listening to it, it the audio file starts almost imperceptibly out of sync with the embedded audio in the video files, but this gets worse over the course of the 7 minutes until it sounds way out of sync (by 10 frames).
Anyone have any idea what's up?

Wow.... funny thing... I've had the same problem for YEARS..... And this is why I'm here... to ask this EXACT same question.....
here's my story.. I work at a computer research facility... we record hour long lectures on our sony HDV Camera...
we also record the un-eq'd audio, for editing purposes, using Logic Express v. 7.1.1 on a Powermac tower w/ a 933 mhz G4 processor... 1 gig ram..... OS X v. 10.4.10....
the microphone interface is a maudio octane preamp into the maudio Delta 1010... w/ pci interface...
This Powermac is dedicated to capturing audio... nothing else.
Right now I'm editing on a dual 3 ghz quad-core Intel MacPro w/ 8 gigs of ram... OSX v. 10.4.11 (won't upgrade to Leopard till the bugs are gone)... But I've been on the top of the line Mac's for 5 or so years... G5's... Dual G5's... Quad G5's..... you name it... and each machine has had the problem (yet to be described)....
    My workflow is:
Raw HDV.... > captured directly into Final Cut Pro... > Import the 44.1 (or 48 khz.. no difference) aif file created by Logic Express on the "Audio capturing Mac"... (16 and 24 bit... doesn't make a difference) ... then I'm prepared to work....
    THE PROBLEM....
I place the video on the timeline.... it's got a stereo audio track with it that is synced PERFECTLY with the video......... then... i place the "un-eq'd" audio on the timeline.... Sync up the beginning frames... the audio and video fit perfectly together at the beginning of the talk...... 30 or so minutes into it, the audio has gradually shifted to being a quarter or so second off.... by the end of the talk.... the audio and video have about a second or more gap between them...
The problem isn't the camera... We've recorded talks for 5-6 years with multiple DV and HDV cameras.... we've always had the same problems..
The problem isn't the "audio capturing computer"... we had a G5 in there, but figured it was WAY too much overkill to have that machine in there just capturing 1, 2, 3, or even 4 audio tracks every couple of weeks or so...
The problem isn't hard drive speed... we've had multiple hard drives.... on multiple machines... no difference....
as far as we can tell... it's not hardware...
I've been to Macworld and WWDC... Talked to Apple's engineers about the problem.... nothing..... I've had apple's video support on the phone.... nothing...
no one in the entire industry seems to know what our problem is....
we've done basically everything you can think of...
The problem is really annoying... but I've been working around it for years.....
    got any ideas?

  • Strange Audio Synch problem

I've been supplied with a movie (from an HD master) in .mpg format (for ease of size) to which I need to synch an audio track for a Blu-ray release.
When I open the file in MPEG Streamclip it gives the frame rate as 23.976. However, when I import this same clip into FCP it gives the vid rate at 25fps, with no audio (but it's there if I open it in Quicktime).
If I convert the .mpg to ProRes I the get the audio in FCP, but the running time is altered - even though I've not changed anything, making it useless to synch to.
    Example:
    .mpg file = 01:35:49:20
ProRes conversion via MPEG Streamclip = 01:35:44:00
I've also been supplied the same file at 25fps (for the DVD release). The same problems occur with this too.
So my question is, how do I synch a new audio track to the movie and ensure everything is kept in synch?
Would I be better off exporting from MPEG Streamclip to another format?

When you open this file up in Quicktime, what does it say the frame rate is? Because it sounds like it is 25fps, so you need to set MPEG STREAMCLIP to convert it to 25fps.

  • Strange audio slipping problems??

I've been having problems with audio tracks slipping. It's only .mp3 music files... here's what happens: I'll lay down say 10 seconds of a music track in a timeline. A few minutes later I realize I need the music to run 3 seconds longer. I drag it out, and then render. This causes the music track to slip 3 or 4 seconds further into the song. The waveform display on the audio track looks exactly the same, but the song has slipped for some reason. It's been driving me nuts because if you spend some time keyframing volume and then have to extend the clip a second or two you basically have to start over. Anyone have any clue why this would happen???
    Thanks!!

Rule # 1 (or 10, I forget): Do NOT use MP3 files in FCP. Instead, first convert them to AIF format at the sampling and bit rate that matches your FCP Sequence settings.
To adjust a song's duration, highlight the clip and hit Command j to bring up the speed adjustment window.

  • Audio Recording Problems

Hi, everybody.... I have a problem with captivate 2.0.. and i
dont kwon what happending or what i can do for solve the problem.
I have a few slices with captivate, and i want record sound
for the slices... i can record the sound, for 2 o 3 slices but when
i try record another sound.. the captivate is not working... the
record function not work. and the captivate crash.
    What can i do?
    Thanks.

    Hi Alex,
Wish I knew the interaction - or lack of same - between the
USB mic and an existing sound card. Unfortunately, I'm not much a a
    hardware guy any more.
Since I can't offer direct help, let me share a story about
CPU craziness that might help indirectly. I recently paid for a
scheduler that includes a To DO tab, a APPOINTMENTS tab, a CONTACTS
tab, an EMAIL tab and so on. I've found that when the EMAIL tab is
"open", if I try to open another program (like clicking a link in
an email to open a browser and go to a URL in the email message),
the CPU activity goes to 100% and stays there.
The browser (or any other application) will absolutely not
open until I click one of the other tabs (which makes that tab
"active" and the email "inactive"). Once I click another tab on the
scheduler, the browser responds perfectly, and immediately.
Naturally, the people who built the scheduler say they can't
duplicate this, but I can - every single time I start my PC. So
    anyway ...
have you tried closing all other applications while doing a
"narrative" recording? Could be that Captivate isn't the
culprit at all(???). Hope this helps, Alex.

  • WP8 WASAPI Low Volume Audio Recording Problem on VOIP App

    Hello,
I am working on a VOIP app and WASAPI is used for the app. I am using WASAPI in SHARED_MODE. Captured audio frames are turned out to be in low volume. For some devices, the audio volume is almost silent (Specially for Lumia 730).
From the VOIP app documentation, i found out that only ISimpleAudioVolume is supported for volume control for Windows Phone. (Ref: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/jj715884(v=vs.105).aspx). But ISimpleAudioVolume::GetMasterVolume(float
    *pfLevel) always returns pfLevel=1.0
Volume level in other VOIP apps like Skype,Viber seems normal.  So, i am wondering what's wrong is going on??
    Thanks,
    Haider

    Hi haiderBd,
In fact, Only ISimpleAudioVolume API is supported for Windows Phone 8. IAudioStreamVolume or IChannelAudioVolume is not supported for Windows Phone 8. Am i right or i have missed something else?
-> Yes, you are correct, if you read carefully about the Requirements section, you should be able to find that ISimpleAudioVolume supported on Windows Store App, but it also mentioned does not supported on Windows Phone 8, which means the API is acceptable
for Windows Store App for instance PC and tablet.
Again, IChannelAudioVolume only support on Windows Desktop, which means the api can be only used in desktop development for instance WPF, winform and etc...
What could be the reason for low volume recording? Is there any way to increase the volume?
-> I'm not that familiar with WASAPI, perhaps related with Share Mode? Try with exclusive mode to see if listening to one audio endpoint device while recording.
I will also try to find some experts to help you with this question.

The audio (voice using microphone) I have recorded using the sound mixer in premier pro plays back at a high speed for some reason. The voice sounds like "Alvin from the Chipmonks". Can anyone explain why this is happening?

  • Audio recording problems with greatdy and sunflower

Since I upgraded to OS X 10.9.3 I've not been able to capture streaming audio using Greatdy or Sunflower with Audacity or Sound Studio.  Any advice?  Or something I've overlooked?

Can you provide a lot more detail? This ARTICLE will give you tips on what would be so useful. There is probably an answer there. If not, the info will help others to help you.

You wouldn't say that noeqplease if you had to deal with the French manual like our friend jules here (and myself for that matter) The French manual is a total joke. It was obviously translated by someone who hasn't the first notion of anything vaguely musical or DAW or sequencer or mixing, or of musical equipment of any kind ! Example : Channel strip translates to "Éléments des bandes de canaux" which, if translated back into English becomes "Elements of bands of canals" - and the whole manual is of the same ilk !!! I kind of wonder if the translations weren't done in an automatic translation programme I don't know if other languages suffer from the same "rubbish" translation - it could be subject of an amusing thread here "Silly excerpts from Logic Pro Manuals" or something
