Strange Behavior in Excel VBA Formula
HERE IT IS:
Private Sub fillLicenseFormulas()
Dim LastRow As Long
LastRow = ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count
Dim gRange As String
gRange = "G3:G" & LastRow & ""
Range("g3").Formula = "=IF($G$3-($F$3+$E$3)<0,0,$G$3-($F$3+$E$3))"
Set SourceRange = ActiveSheet.Range("g3:g3")
Set fillRange = ActiveSheet.Range(gRange)
SourceRange.AutoFill Destination:=fillRange, Type:=xlFillDefault
Oddly, in Excel, this is the result: =IF($J$6-($I$6+$H$6)<0,0,$J$6-($I$6+$H$6))
(Despite the "G" reference, the formula is actually in J)
I inherited this from a predecessor who was doing quite a bit of copy/manipulation from another Excel worksheet. How can I insure that the formula pulls from the FINAL COLUMN ADDRESSES?
Thanks.
A. Wolf
Hi,
The code seems a bit odd to me, are you really wanting to put the same formula in multiple cells? That's what's going to happen because of the absolute references in the formula, maybe they should be relative references. Also finding the last row using usedrange
can be unreliable, I'd do it like below.
Having said that your code should populate Col G and does for me. Do we have all the code here?
[Code]
Dim LastRow As Long, SourceRange As Range, fillrange As Range
Dim gRange As String
LastRow = Cells.Find(What:="*", After:=[A1], _
SearchOrder:=xlByRows, _
SearchDirection:=xlPrevious).Row
gRange = "G3:G" & LastRow & ""
Range("g3").Formula = "=IF(G3-(F3+E3)<0,0,G3-(F3+E3))"
Set SourceRange = ActiveSheet.Range("g3:g3")
Set fillrange = ActiveSheet.Range(gRange)
SourceRange.AutoFill Destination:=fillrange, Type:=xlFillDefault
[/Code]

Strange behavior from a PB G4 (Part 2)
On to my next issue. Often when I'm typing the insertion point will jump to someplace other than where it should be or just disappear all together. I'm not doing anything to cause it to do this. I've been being really carefull to not to do anything wrong. I'ts often enough to be a real nuisance. It happened 7 times during my first post (Strange behavior from a PB G4) and 3 times during this one. Please help. Thanks.

Did you use the iFixit website? It has excellent pictures and instructions that are easy to follow.
Replacing any hard disk drive will be challenging for a paraplegic, but with someone's help it can be done fairly inexpensively. There are many tiny fasteners that require tiny tools. Use an egg carton to store them, separated by their location in the PowerBook.
Earlier PowerBooks are easier to work on than later ones.
I still use a PowerBook G4 on occasion, mostly for importing video for editing in iMovie. I upgraded its original 60 GB HD to a much larger one. If you were to do this you would need to locate the PowerBook's original System Install DVD to install and subsequently update OS X and all its original programs.
If you ensure at least a few gigabytes free space, I think most of your problems will be fixed. When free disk space gets down to a few hundred megabytes or less, performance will suffer dramatically. You don't want it to ever get anywhere near that low. Strange things start to happen.
Keep the number of icons on the Desktop to a minimum also. That makes a difference, for reasons that I do not fully understand. -
Calling UDF (MS Access) from Excel VBA
Hi,
I need to run a query on an MS Access database that has to perform a weekday calculation between two date columns,
and this query has two date parameters that it receives dynamically. I am using Excel VBA as the front end.
Select AgeRange, count(*) from
(Select IIF(networkdays(date1,date())<=2, "0-2 days","over 2 days")) as AgeRange
from table1
where date2 >= startdt
and date2 <=enddt
) d
group by AgeRange
The actual query is more complex, but this will help illustrate the issue. I build a string variable with
the query, and substitute Startdt and enddt variables with the actual values. I then create a new QueryDef object and get the results from OpenRecordSet.
Except, Networkdays is not a valid function in MS Access. So, this query fails.
I created a WorkDays UDF in MS Access, and used that instead - the query works fine in MS Access, but when
I try to pass it in the QueryDef object, it fails with 3085 error (function not available).
I'm not sure how to get around this, and could use some help.
In summary, I need to run a select query that will calculate weekdays or workdays between two columns (query
is dynamic - dates are variable) from VBA to MS Access, get the results back to VBA so that I can populate the results. Any suggestions are appreciated and welcome.
Thanks!
I tried using datediff with the "w" parameter, but that doesn't work as I had hoped - it gives the
number of weeks between the dates instead of weekdays
I realize that I could get all the data (without doing the group by) down into Excel and then, do the networkdays
formula calculation there, and summarize after that, but that is a very inefficient way - and defeats the purpose of having an access database in the first place. Getting tens of thousands of records is going to cause space issues in Excel too.Hi Bob,
One solution is to create a table in the Access database storing all the dates in these years, add a column to determine if this date is a week day or not. And create another table to store the dates that are to be excluded from the working days.
In this way, you need to create a separate query to count the valid working days based on the two tables. So the most difficult thing is to create the table that contains all the dates, please check this VBA code snippet which helps you to insert all the
dates into the table.
Sub InsertDatesIntoTable()
Dim StartDate As Date
Dim EndDate As Date
Dim d As Date
Dim w As Integer
Dim IsWorkDay As Boolean
StartDate = #1/1/2015#
EndDate = #12/31/2015#
For d = StartDate To EndDate
Debug.Print d
w = Weekday(d, vbSunday) 'first day of the week is Sunday
If w = 1 Or w = 7 Then ' if the current day is Sunday or Satuday
IsWorkDay = False
Else
IsWorkDay = True
End If
'Here you can insert d and IsWorkDay into the table
Next d
End Sub

Strange behavior of Grapher 2.0
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with vector fields in Grapher.
My Grapher 2.0 (running on Mac OS X 10.5.2 ) shows the following strange behavior:
When I create a new 2D-vector field in any document, it is shown correctly. All vector arrows point in the direction I expect.
When I now save the document and open it again, first the vector field is shown correctly, but one or two seconds later the field collapses and all the vectors are aligned parallel to the x- axis. After reentering the formula describing the field, I get the correct result again.
In the Grapher examples are two items including vector fields. One of them has the same behavior like my own documents, the other has not, but it‘s working well.
I have already deleted the preferences (com.apple.grapher.plist) , but without any success. The program behavior is unchanged.
Does anyone know the cause of this problem, and what I can do to avoid it?
regards woopeckerThis is bug nr. 4/22 in my personal Grapher's bugs list. Exists in 2D & 3D.
To restaure a saved .gcx vector field, make a minor change in its equation (e.g. cancel one letter), Return touch, repair the equation, Return touch, your vector field becomes OK ! -
Strange behavior of merged clips on import
After much troubleshooting I've noticed more strange behavior in the reimport of merged clips from XML...
I have merged clips made out of film transfer and the audio from an aiff file. I can export and xml of a merged clip... all of about 30 seconds and when I reimport the clip from xml it is like 47 minutes long and will not reconnect the audio part of the merged clip. That is actually happening to ALL of my merged clips in a current film project.Yes, all phones are 111, all faxes are 222 and all mobiles are 333

Excel VBA to access sharepoint list without permission
Hi,
I do find solution to retrieve the SharePoint list from excel VBA but my problem now is on the SharePoint permission to the list.
I am developing this solution in excel because i don't want the particular user to access the list direct from the portal because the list contains some unique and confidential data. So what i did was created a new view in the portal with selected column
and i connect to the view from excel. So every time the user want to retrieve the data, he can run macro to refresh the data in the excel.
When i run the macro it can generate the list because i do have permission but if i run the same macro on the person machine, excel request for username and password because he don't have the permission to the list.
Are there any work around to allow the user to generate the data in excel without permission to the SharePoint list.
Thanks for the help.I've done this before using SQL Server Reporting Services integrated into SharePoint.
Using SSRS, create the report you want the end user to view. Then create a Report Subscription, emailing the end user (or putting it in a file share/Doc Lib) the report. If they want to run it interactively, you can enable caching on the report, which would
pull the report from the last time it was scheduled to run (the data would not be 'real time' in this case).

Strange behavior when "trying" to burn a disk.
At least I think this is strange behavior, following the instructions in the help viewer, topic "Backing up your music to a CD or DVD." One thing for sure, it's not burning a disc and it ain't telling me why.
I select the playlist and click "Burn Disc"
Requests a blank disc. I insert one.
Message "checking media"
after about a minute, the disc ejects

What the ??? Shouldn't it at least display an error message??

I've also tried some Pleomax CD disks (Samsung), with no luck. I've tried burning directly from iTunes, and from Toast 7.
Of the types I've tried, the Sony DVD's have been the best for me. Haven't tried many types though. Maybe I can get disks one at a time until I find a brand my burner likes.
Still, isn't it strange that there is NO error message? It just quits?

Strange Behavior with gMSA in Server 2012 R2
Greetings,
I have been doing some testing with gMSA Accounts in a Server 2012 R2 environment (two separate environments, actually), and I have noticed something very strange that occurred in both environments, which does not appear to be occurring in one of our customer's
self-managed environments.
We created a Group Managed Service Account using the following article:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askpfeplat/archive/2012/12/17/windows-server-2012-group-managed-service-accounts.aspx
Everything went smoothly, and the account installs/tests successfully on both of the hosts that we are testing on. I am able to set my services to run under the account, and most of them appear to work fine. I am having some issues with a few of my services,
and I believe that the strange behavior I am seeing may have something to do with this - described below:
As soon as I set the service's Log On Account (via the Log On Tab under the Service's Properties), the entirety of the "Log On" tab changes to "greyed out," and I am unable to change the Log On account back via the GUI (Screenshot
attached).
I found that I am able to successfully change the account via Command Line using sc.exe, but the Log On tab remains greyed out! So far, I have found nothing to remedy this, but confirmed that it happens for any service I set to use the gMSA as the Logon
Account, and that it happens in 2 separate test environments, but not in a Customer's production environment - very strange.
All servers in this environment are running Server 2012 R2, and domain Functional Level is currently Server 2012.
I have been unable to find any information online about this behavior, so I am hoping someone has seen this before, and can explain why this is happening.
NickVIvian,
Yes, we used the Install-AdServiceAccount gMSA command on each host using the gMSA account, and then ran Test-AdServiceAccount gMSA, which returned "True."
However, one thing I noticed is that if I run Test-ADServiceAccount gMSA as a Local Administrator, it fails with the following:
PS C:\Users\Administrator> Test-AdServiceAccount gMSA$
Test-AdServiceAccount : The server has rejected the client credentials.
At line:1 char:1
+ Test-AdServiceAccount gMSA$
+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ CategoryInfo : SecurityError: (:) [Test-ADServiceAccount], AuthenticationException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : ActiveDirectoryCmdlet:System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException,Microsoft.A
ctiveDirectory.Management.Commands.TestADServiceAccount
If I run Test-ADServiceAccount gMSA as Domain Administrator, it returns true:
PS C:\Users\Administrator.<domainname>> Test-AdServiceAccount gMSA$
True
Is this normal?
Overall, I think the issue I am running into is at the Application Level, and not a problem with the gMSA, as it appears to be working. (Can Start/Stop services without any issues). I will be investigating my issue further with 3rd-party vendors, unless
you think there is something wrong with my gMSA accounts based on the information I have provided.

Hello guys,
I need to send keys to a window in the background, but I don't want it to pop up when I do it as it may cause some errors if I'm typing something at that moment. Is this possible?
The script I'm working on converts a spool to a pdf, but when the save as window comes up, the script stops recording because that is not a SAP screen, but a windows screen.
I was actually able to make it work by ending the script right before executing the transaction, then I used AppActivate and SendKeys to execute the transaction by pressing F8 and saving the file by pressing enter, but I still have these windows popping up while the macro is running, so, is it possible to have the SendKeys point to a specific application without it bringing it to the foreground?
Also, please note that I am new to programming, so I'm not familiar with all the functions.
Thanks in advance.Hello Jahir.
I had several similar request in past.
One requirement was mass convertion of PM orders printout from spool to PDF.
I found a solution where a small ABAP-Report (implemented in coding-area of an SQ02 infoset) Transfer spool data from my SAP user as PDF to a temp Folder on my local HDD.
Then I convert this PDF-files with an small application (pdf2txt.exe) to text-files. Where a small Excel VBA code got an specific text as identifier (PM order number).
So I have pdf-files with spoolnumber-naming and dedicated PM order number. So a small VBA code is renaming my files for better identification by enduser.
Another method was to write an small VBA macro which is able to identify Save-As dialogbox and fillin a specific filename and press 'Save' by using ESER32-API methods and functions.
As you are new with programming I guess both methods are a Little bit to complex for you.
LEt me know when you Need more Information for one of above used methods by me.
MAy you can give some more Details in which Transaction you will Trigger the spools.

Strange Behavior from iTunes 7.2
Running itunes - 7.2Recently had my itunes library “corrupted” or non functional.
Spent a long, long time rebuilding the library (see below) and noticed some strange behavior that has me terrified that itunes is corrupted and I am going to loose all the hard work, etc..
1. I have about 100 GB of music in various formats (apple protected/itunes store, mp3 (128 to 320), apple lossless, wav) and when I tried to rebuild the library by clicking on add to library it only added about 65 GB of the 100 GB. I had to go through and figure out what was missing and manually choose the specific folder when I added it.
Major pain and very time consuming.
So it is not adding songs correctly, but through way too much effort able to work around this.
2. About ½ of the itunes store tunes I purchased are no longer apple protected format. Somehow they were converted to mp3 at 192kbs. Some of the songs play fine others are now not as crisp and make a poping sound or skip. How could this happen? Are these files corrupted? Will I loose them?
3. At the top center of itunes the information bar, where the read out is for what song is playing and how much time has elapsed in the song, is not working. When I click on a song it starts playing but the elapsed time bar and counter never move, and when the next song starts playing the information never changes. It is stuck on what ever song you initiate play with by clicking on it and the information stays frozen.
4. itunes randomly stops playing at the end of a song….If listening to an album it is usually after three or four songs and when listening to a play list it is usually after one song.
I am afraid itunes is corrupted and will not function correctly and I am going to loose the hard work I put in trying to recover from the last crash.
Any suggestions??
Can’t wait for time machine. I hope it works as advertised. If so I could just go back in time to the last time iTunes worked correctly and go from there.First of all I hope that you have a good b/u of all your tunes - either on ext HD or on DVD. Don't forget to b/u the iTunes Library and .xml files at the same time.
Have you tried to reinstall iTunes? Drag the app to the trash and remove the iTunesX.pkg from HD>Library>Receipts>iTunesX.pkg. Using a fresh .dmg of iTunes 7.2 reinstall.
Have you repaired permissions with Disk Utility?
Is your Quicktime up to date? At least version v7.1.5.

Excel VBA to JS: How does one pass rectangle coordinates to a JS function.
I have an Excel VBA sub that calls a folder level JS function and I'm trying to pass a set of rectangle coordinates.
This is the VBA code:
Sub BarcodeDoc_PDF417(pdfFileName As String)
Dim AVDoc As Acrobat.CAcroAVDoc
Dim PDDoc As Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc
Dim myApp As Acrobat.CAcroApp
Dim jso As Object
Dim bcTmpFile As String
bcTmpFile = "C:\Temp\bcTmpFile.pdf"
Set myApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
Set AVDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
If AVDoc.Open(pdfFileName, "") Then
Set PDDoc = AVDoc.GetPDDoc
Set jso = PDDoc.GetJSObject
jso.myAdd417Barcode 'This is where the coordinates get passed.
PDFSave PDDoc, bcTmpFile
myApp.CloseAllDocs
myApp.Exit
Set AVDoc = Nothing
Set jso = Nothing
Set PDDoc = Nothing
Set myApp = Nothing
Else
MsgBox "Sub: BarcodeDoc_PDF417. Document not found:" & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & pdfFileName
End If
End Sub
This is the folder level JS script:
function myAdd417Barcode(myCoords)
//The line below is just for testing. Will come out once I can pass the coords in from my VBA sub.
//var myCoords = [324, 756, 540, 720];
InsertPDF417Barcode(this, myCoords);
I've tried to pass the coords as a string and an array, both to no avail. Any ideas?
Thanks.I tried typing the array as a variant (in the VBA code), but the JS script didn't like that either.
I then changed the JS script to this:
function myAdd417Barcode(n1, n2, n3, n4)
var bcCoords = [n1, n2, n3, n4];
InsertPDF417Barcode(this, bcCoords);
and passed it 4 integers thinking it would accept them in a way that I could then define the rectangle coordinates as shown above. It didn't work, and the error I get is that myCoords (in the script below) "isn't defined".
var InsertPDF417Barcode = app.trustedFunction( function(doc, mycoords)
app.beginPriv();
var bcIconFileName = "/C/Temp/bcTmpImage.pdf";
//var bcCoords = [324, 756, 540, 720];
var t = doc.addField("bcFormID", "button", 0, myCoords);
t.display = display.visible;
t.buttonPosition = position.iconOnly;
t.buttonScaleHow = scaleHow.proportional;
t.buttonScaleWhen = scaleWhen.always;
t.buttonFitBounds = true;
t.setButtonIcon
var x = doc.importIcon("myIcon", bcIconFileName, 0);
var f = doc.getField("bcFormID");
var i = doc.getIcon("myIcon")
var y = f.buttonSetIcon(i);
app.endPriv();
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks!
