Strange little rectangle on screen

Hi friends,
after I start one of my programs a little rectangle appears on the mittle of the screen in addition to the program.
I know it sounds crazy but I attached a screenshot.
On the left you see the program and beside is the little rectangle (marked by a red circle). It's possible to click to the rectangle and the focus will change to it, that means the color will change to dark blue and the color of the program will change to light blue. That indicates that this rectangle is a little window. It's not possible to move it or resize it. It's always visible if on of my labview programs is on top. Now it sounds more crazy if I'll tell you that this will only happen at this computer. All other PC's show my programs in the right way. LabView 8.0.1 is running everywhere.
Any ideas???
Best regards.
Ronny

It looks like a VI with a front panel of 0 pixels.
These are automatically generated by LV if you use auto-center (from the VI-properties) and then close programmatically the Front Panel (8.0 bug)
The reason it shows up on your PC and not others....
Maybe it is a vi.lib or user.lib file that you closed programmtically. To resolve this you have to find out which VI it is, and than edit the properties (or reset the FP)
Good luck,
Ton

  • Strange Spots on Glossy Screen

    Hi, I am currently using a late 2006 Macbook, it has never given me any problems and it works great. Recently I noticed that there are these strange marks on my screen. They look like the normal screen except, it is slightly brighter, they look like smudges. I have a feeling that this might be the glossy coating coming off, but I can't be sure.
    I am no longer covered under Apple Care

    Smudges? I have the same problem except i have little black dots in my screen

  • Strange Black rectangle in JPanel

    I have created a program that uses 2 classes a driver class and a resource class. However, when I run the driver class, a window comes up with a strange black rectangle. To make things easier to understand, here are my two classes.
    Driver Class:
       import javax.swing.JFrame;
       public class ProjectDriver
          public static void main(String[] args)
             JFrame frame = new JFrame("Project");
             frame.setSize(1000, 700);
             frame.setLocation(0, 0);
             frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
             frame.setContentPane(new ProjectPanelMine());
             frame.setVisible(true);
       }Resource class:
       import javax.swing.*;
       import java.awt.*;
       import javax.swing.event.*;
       import java.awt.image.*;
       import java.awt.event.*;
        public class ProjectPanelMine extends JPanel{
          private int grow = (int)(Math.random() * 4);
          private static final ImageIcon EUCLID = new ImageIcon("euclid.png");

           public void paintComponent(Graphics g){
             g.drawImage(myImage, 0,0,getWidth(),getHeight(), null);
       }And the result, again, is a frame with a black rectangle filling up most of my screen that I don't want.
    So, what is the problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

    However, when I run the driver class, a window comes up with a strange black rectangleBecause a newly created image starts off as black. The blue color fills in as you consecutively draw polygons.
    I would have a thin line of white around the strange black box. Because you did a drawRect instead of a fillRect.

  • Strange mark on my screen

    Just noticed a strange marking on my screen when it is turned off, I've tried to clean it off with various products, but it appears to be grease-proof.
    Anyone know what it might be or how I might go about getting rid of it?

    Take the MBP to your local Apple Store or an AASP.  Let them deal w/it.

  • Strange rectangular artifacts on screen

    I just upgraded from OS 10.4.10 to 10.5.6. I'm getting strange black rectangular artifacts that go away when the screen redraws. They look like invisible strike areas for Flash buttons. These black rectangles are very distracting and annoying. Has anyone else encountered this? I have screen captures I can send to anyone if my description is not clear.
    Thank you.

    Hi LG Smith;
    Check in System Preference > Universal Access and see if you have VoiceOver turned on. This can do it. Sometime an Upgrade can change system preference for you.

  • I need to SET a SET % that ALL sites ALWAYS show @ zoom level. how do i do that? my little D620 Dell screen needs that else i cannot use many sites

    simple. small screen laptop, must pre set a % zoom as a DEFAULT to not have to constantly frickn' choose a % like some thing lesssss than 100% every single time i go to any site.
    how do you pre select a set STATIC always going to be, % for all sites. of course, still must be able to change setting if/when i want, that won't stop being possible i realize.

    mmm. 1st off, now i can't use my computer AT ALL. it made the whole screen fill with huge print on a TINY Dell laptop, your idea was 180degrees wrong.
    frick
    i am at the public library now, since i have NO computer, i did until i installed your fix/the firefox techy fix. not.
    i have a little screen. and the issue is simple, most programs and sites i view, are too large, so i am always setting to 67% or 80%, it's a hassle. i wanted, obviously doesn't exist, a way to preset it, to always go to 80%, always. that'll work on my screen since i am forever every site, every day, manually setting to 80% or sometimes 67%, just to be able to view and use.
    now, your idea, too huge and worse, i used to have another appl. from firefox, which helped some/it showed a EASY drop down, upper right corner, to select right from there, without going in to firefox, a drop down choice i make of a %, was not great but helped.
    with the download of your horrible idea, horrible, i lost that drop down and now have no way to undo what your appl. caused, a hugeeee filled screen, unable to view a thing
    and, i am LOCKED OUT OF FIREFOX. WHEN I CLICK ON THE 3 BARS UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER WHICH IS HOW I GET TO FIREFOX TO LOOK AT ADDONS OR FIX SOMETHING OR ASK FOR HELP, I CANT.
    SOMEHOW YOUR FILL THE SCREEN APPL. ALSO LOCKED ME OUT OF ANY WAY TO GET IN TO FIREFOX.
    SO SCREEN FILLED LOCKED OUT OF FIREFOX, AND NO WAY TO COMPUTE AND AT THE PUBLIC LIBRARY. WHY I TOOK YOUR IDEA AND RAN WITH IT, I DO NOT KNOW.
    APPARENTLY, THERE IS NO WAY TO PRE SET FOR EVERY SINGLE SITE EVERY TIME, TO GO TO A % i set, like 80%, AND STILL ALSOOOOOOO KEEP THE PRODUCT I HAD AND LOST, UPPER RIGHT CORNER, WHRE I CAN EASILY AND SIMPLY IF AND WHEN I MUST, DROP DOWN A CHOICE TO GO TO 100% or 80% OR 67% depending on what i need for that site.
    how do i undo the horrible appl add on this default 100% GARBAGE? AND HOW DO I UNLOCK FIREFOX YOUR ADD ON CAUSED, AND AGAIN GAIN ACCESS TO FIREFOX TO MAKE SETTINGS AND CHANGE SETTING AND GET HELP?

  • Strange flickering lines across screen, opening Photobooth makes them go away?

    Hi everyone,
    I've been having a very strange problem with my 2011 Macbook Pro 15" for quite a long time now. It's basically flickering lines across the screen, and the screen 'folds' in on itself, squashing the display vertically and stacking them on top of each other. Sometimes it's terrible, sometimes it's bearable. Sometimes the screen goes completely black. It's super weird. Here's a photo I took my phone, as I screenshotting shows nothing out of the ordinary:
    The really really weird thing is that when I open Photobooth, as in the apple webcam program, the problem completely goes away (until I quit it). I had hoped this was a software issue, so I backed up and formatted my hard drive and then installed a fresh copy of OS X - and the exact same thing happens! I barely made it through the system setup!
    I beg, someone help me!

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
    Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Strange symbol on home screen

    About two days ago, a symbol I have never seen before showed up on my BB Curve 8530 homescreen. I have had this phone for about 2 years. It appears at the top of the screen next to where it shows an envelope and the number of unread emails I have. It looks like a white rectangle with a black dot in the middle, and then there is a red dot located near the upper right corner (the red dot hangs off of the rectangle, if that makes sense). What does it mean? How do I get rid of it?? I searched online and on my phone and have yet to figure it out. Thanks for your help.

    It means you have a message from a group in BB messenger

    Hi Frettchen,
    Sorry about the screen.
    I think Lenovo ThinkPad series has an amazing build quality and the machines are tank-like in durability, always designed to be the business utility workhorse with roll cage, strong hinges etc. I prefer the ThinkPad because I mainly use Windows for the same reason and, I prefer Office for Windows over mac. I would say if you mainly use Windows programs go for the ThinkPad.
    I still find them more durable than any other machine. You can always trust the machines and the warranty.
    It's hard for anyone else to tell you what you should choose and it's something you have to figure out on your own depending on your requirement.
    Thanks for posting in Lenovo community Forums! Please feel free to post back if you have any further issues.
    Best regards,

    It's kind of hard to see what these are from the picture you linked, but I would definitely bring it to Apple's attention on a brand new Mac.
