Strategy for product display in multi -multi categories??

Hi guys,
My client wants many many variations of product catalogs... too many to do effectively by creating catalogs for each one. I'm trying to figure out the best way of doing this and I realize there is a potential problem with keywords and tags. As I understand it, I have keywords and have created "tags" in Custom (column) 1 . I realize you can create a featured list by calling a tag, but here's the problem... All Cartier watches are tagged with watch, but not all watches are Cartier. To give you the idea of the complexity of this layout, here's a sample of some of the current catalogs I'm moving over to BC:

Now multiply this by several brands, like Tiffany and the like, and you get many many crossovers.
So I have a couple of questions: what is the safest way to enter tags and keywords for a featured list, e.g.: with or without commas???
Rather than create a separate catalog for each of these many options, is there a way to create a display catalog from keywords or tags? I started creating a featured list, but IF I use Rings, for example, it calls up all rings and not just rings that are Cartier rings or Tiffany rings.
In addition, he has an entirely separate catalog that is of archived items for custom jewelry already sold as examples and not for sale, and they too have rings, bracelets, etc...
If I could call up featured items in ONLY a single catalog and exclude all rings from other catalogs, it might work... But I'm kind of stumped as how to best do this..

Have you got all the RH7 patches installed? There was a problem fixed in 7.0.1 that sounds similar to what you are experiencing. If you haven't patched your version yet, I'd recommend getting all of the patches.
See snippet 14 on Peter Grainge's site for the blank topic issue, and snippets 23, 31 and 34 for what's in the patches.

Also note issue #20 in the 7.0.1 patch notes - if you are affected by this, I believe you'll have to fix it manually, unless you can afford to go back to a pre-upgraded version of your project and upgrade once you've installed all the patches. If you can't go back, which is likely if you've all been working on the project, I think it should just be a case of find and replace across your HTML files - you should be able to do a search on the forums for it, or maybe Peter or Rick will chime in with additional information if it is a problem for you.

The requirement that you have stated is not a standard feature in ISA CRM. In order to do the same, you will need to modify the standard ISA code in Java. A common path for the solution would be as follows:
1. Colours
    a. Maintain a text type for Color under the object - PCAT_ITM in Customizing.
    b. Modify the standard search of ISA to search within your new text type as well. (In standard it only searches in Description.
   c. Maintain all shirts colour data in the new type created in step a.
   d. Your requirement will be done!
2. Price
a. Use list prices for your shop and assign the appropriate condition type, acces in your catalog.
b. Modify the standard search of ISA to search on the list prices as well.
c. This too will be done!
3. Accessories - This is very tricky, and will require some exploration. However, here's my opinion,
a. Search for the standard function module, which will return the accessories when provided the product as an input.
b. Modify this function module according to your requirement and ensure that it can be accessed remotely.
c. Modify the JSP as in steps 1b and 2b above to call this new remote-enabled function module.
d. Now you're done!!
The ISA modification part is not so simple, you need a really good guy like "Sateesh Chandra" who'll be able to handle your requirements. This is all I could manage, hope it is some help to you!

Batch Strategy for Production orders

Hi All,
I just wanted to find out that what are plant specific settings while implementing the batch determination strategy for Production orders? I have configured Batch determination and batch check for Plant A and Plant B. However, in Plant B, the system does not pick the batch automatically while in Plant A, it does. I have checked almost all the batch settings in SPRO but could not find any differences between plant A and plant B. Can anyone please guide me on this>?

Patching strategy for Production environment

Hi all,
Can anyone share their patch strategy specially for production environment?? We have production environment and we are planning to patch our databases using PSU pacthes with no downtime. Our production environment has standby. We have one option that we can make standby to primary. Is there any other options that we can use??? Also we are not using Grid control.

In 11gR2 onwards it is possible to patch without downtime using a physical standby database (converts to transient logical standby). Please look at the document below. There is a script on Metalink as well which makes this all much easier.

Batch Determination for production orders

Hi Experts,
How do we set up batch determination strategy for production order.My requirement is" Batch Determination at the time of releasing the orders using : - the FIFO strategy on finished product , - the LIFO strategy on components (raw material)".
Please help me to setup this requirement.

Just some simple hints:
You must create a batch class to classify the materials with a characteristcs for the expiration date.
There exist std characteristic for this.
In the material master you have a setting to trigger batch determination at release.
You must create sort rules sorting this characteristic ascending for FIFO and descendign for LIFO. (CU70)
For component in production/processs order:
You have to create a search strategy with of a type included in the search procedure defined in production/process ordeer dependent parametersy og your choice. Tc COB1
In this you use the sort rule and the batch class as selection class.
Your finished goods goes to a sales order so you have to craete a strategy there as well.
It follows similar procedure as above but relates to sales order types and other search procedure.

Product Name in Multi Lingual

Hi Gurus,
In our project we have a requirement to show the product name according to application locale's language.i.e if ENU object manager is being used the multilingual name created with ENU should be displayed, and if ARA OM is used ARA name should be displayed in all the areas like Order Items, Quote items, Installed assets etc.
According to bookshelf, we have created multi lingual product translation records for products in Admin-Products, respectively.
1) Simple products - Translations
2) Complex Products - Went to product definition, then open Work Space, translations
But in Quote items, Order items, assets, we still see the actual product name mentioned in S_PROD_INT.NAME column.
Please help me in fixing this.

Mail will NOT display a multi-page pdf file in the body.

I want to send an email with a multi-page PDF attached that is displayed in the email- so that readers don't even have to click on the pdf to open it. Can I do that? I can do a single page, and I did determine that if I save all the pages of the document as single pds and then attach those, that works, but is there a way to display a multi-page pdf? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I do not use pages - there are several possible solutions to your situation - in pages you should be able to do a send pdf to iPhoto and then in iPhoto you can create an e-mail with smaller (and harder to read) images- you may be able to produce smaller (lower quality) PDFs in pages (don't know), you can change e-mail servers - use a different one it you have multiple accounts or get a free gmail account or other new account that will handle your needs

No, not that I know of. If there were, it would be harder to use than
a + b + c + d + ...The first is a comma-delimited list of columns, with a function name and parentheses.
The second is a +-sign delimited list, with nothing else needed.

Displaying a multi-line text block in an ALV grid cell

Can I display a multi-line text block (i.e. a paragraph of text) in an ALV grid cell?
If yes, what properties do I set in the Field Catalaog (I tried the style and that didnt seem to work)

By default ALV Grid merges fields with same values vertically.
Isn't that only when the column is part of the sort key? You also have to consider the user changing the sort sequence, which can make the text jumbled up. In one of my reports I have made the cell a hotspot and displayed the text in a popup. Of course you cannot print it.

System Fail Error for Product categories download

Hi All,
I am workin on SRM 4.0.We have started the initial Load for product categories but unable to load the material groups from the backend as prod catgories in SRM.
When I activate the Queue in SMQ2,it shows the status "System Fail" with the message " Hierarchy(with some ID) does not exist ".What could be the reason for the unsuccesful download?Please help.

Hello Disha,
As Bertrand (and Vadim) said, you have to maintain this customizing point...
But if you read the linked documentation, it says that the system should assign the hierarchy automatically:
"When system settings for materials and services are replicated from the ERP system ,the relevant hierarchy is assigned to the corresponding application automatically. In this case, the assignment need not and should not be changed.
If you are not going to replicate data from the ERP system you must have created the hierarchy you want to assign to the application."
Maybe you first need to create a root hierarchy, assign it to purchasing area, and then the replication will add a "R3MATCLASS" sub node in your hierarchy.
Make few tests as described and tell us.

Once you maintain the account determination group for product categories in the fine-tune activity "Edit default account determination group for product categories'
You need to Go to fine tune activity 'Chart of Accounts,Financial reporting structure, account determination'.
IF the account group maintained is for 'SERVICE'
then select Sub-ledger 'COST' then maintain the account determination group and corresponding General Ledger account to it.
If the account group is 'MATERIAL' then you need to go to Subledger 'INVENTORIES' and add account group and GL account for it.

Anyone have a Snow Leopard Upgrade strategy for their Audio Production...

Hi All. I have arrived at a place where I need to do a fresh OS install. I am thinking it is a good time to upgrade to SL. Like many people I not only have GarageBand (my main DAW) but a range of free and paid 3rd party apps, Jam Packs, DL'd loops, Drivers and a library of projects (mostly unfinished hehe..). What is the current wisdom or strategy for people in this situation to make this kind of transition and not break anything? Thanks.

If you choose to do a completely fresh install (including re-installing all software programs), GB's critical components are:
• the Loop Library (HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops)
• the Instrument Library (HD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument
• Midi Drivers, Midi Devices, Plug-Ins (all under their names in HD/Library/Audio)
For all these folders, there's a corresponding one in your User Library. Stuff goes there if you have checked that it is only available for the current user when you installed/saved it.

How to Enhance search help for product groups. Currently no ability to add multiple lines from result list

In CRM Web UI, there is no multi selection option for product group id f4 help for Custmer event creation or edit screen under “Product” tab=> Product Group ID field.
Web UI Component Details -
UI component : TPMOE
View : TPMOE/ProductEOL
Context: PRODUCT Attribute : -PRODUCT_GRUOP
Click on Product Group ID field then below F4 Help screen appears.
In the product group results list, user can select only one row and Then all the product will be queried for selected product group, transferred to product list tab.
Current technical design for Product Group F4:
a) SE11 Data Dictionary search help “CRM_MKTPL_PGRP1” is used and data is fetched displayed based it( Refer method GET_V_PRODUCT_GROUP of context node class CL_TPMOE_PRODUCTEOL_CN00)
b) In UI, F4 pop up is handled by UI Framework in SAP generic manner so no multi selection is allowed.
c) A round trip event is triggered after selection of row from results which reload view with queried product result based group selected.
Requirement :-
In the product group F4 results list View, user should be able to select multiple row .As SAP GUI has the option of multiple entry selection from search help window with the help of field called MULTISEL.
System should query for products with all selected product group, transferred to product list tab.
Note: - The multi select options works fine for GUI, but for UI standard SAP code ignores this or never is this structure taken into consideration. Standard class to display F4 help on UI is CL_THTMLB_F4HELP.
Can we enforce same behavior like DDIC search help in Web UI too Or suggest how we can achieve this requirement?

Query Strcuture : ZCRMST_PRGRP_SEARCH & Result List structure : ZCRMST_PRGRP_RESULT
Created Custom component : ZPRGRP with Search /Result view and with GENIL Class, search logic
Defined custom ComponentUsage “ProductGroup1SearchHelp” for ZPRGRP in Standard Component TPMOE
e. Called F4 application for field product _group with help component usage created in step d.
