Stream Shoutcast + External XML not loading

I can run the swf locally as a exe and it will correctly
stream the sound.
Heres the url:
http://mikemikhjian.com/sampler/test.php
This connects to xml file, determines which shoutcast server
works best, and then it is supposed to stream it.
I set the security to allowdomains and insecuredomains with
not sure why its not going tho!

Just checking as well, my xml that is being loaded from
external domain wont come up. But still doesnt make sense cause ive
got:
System.security.allowInsecureDomain("*");
System.security.allowDomain("*");

• Using external XML to load an swf

Here's the deal - I have a main SWF with lots of loaders. Can
a hyperlink in an external XML file load another external swf in
the root flash doc? I have a list of links load in main SWF from an
external XML file. From these links, I'd like to load other
external SWFs in the main flash document. I can get the XML links
to control my browser... can I get them to control what happens in
my flash doc?
Thanks!

nothing in an xml file can load anything. but you can load a
string that you use in your swf indicate which target file to
load.

• Crossdomain.xml Not Loading

This may be a newb question. I’m trying to figure out why my swf file, running from localhost, is bypassing the crossdomain.xml when loading a xml file from a remote domain.
I stored the crossdomain.xml at the root of the domain.
http://www.mydomain.com/crossdomain.xml
When I checked the HTTP headers, there’s no request sent out to get the crossdomain.xml file.
Another issue is that the Security.sandboxType is always localTruested. Could that be the reason that the swf file is not checking the crossdomain.xml? If so, how can i change the sandboxType.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks

Can you look at the name of the file you're loading before you load it? So, if it contains .swf don't load? Aside from that, you can get the content type before the image/file is finished loading. You do it with the LoaderInfo object... something like this:
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, initHandler);
function initHandler(event:Event):void {
var loader:Loader = Loader(event.target.loader);
var info:LoaderInfo = LoaderInfo(loader.contentLoaderInfo);
trace(info.contentType);
If you load a jpeg you will see: image/jpeg
If you load a .swf you will see: application/x-shockwave-flash

• XML not loading in SWF

Please, please someone help. I have been at this for days and can't see the woods for the trees any more.
I have a swf embedded in a htm file. I pass FlashVars to it with a view to setting colours for symbols already in the swf.
No matter what I do I simply cannot get the xml loaded. Can someone help and have a look at the following code and tell me where I am going wrong.
I am using Flash CS4/AS 3. The default class is com.main and all .AS files are located in a folder 'com' within the root. All fla. .swf and .xml files are located in the root.

• Urgent! external swf not loading with swfobject!

hello there,
I have a swf that loads another one into it through an empty
movieclip - When i embed it with swfobject it doesnt appear.
My guess is that i would have to mention the external swf in
the flashvars ... Done that with no success.
Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing me this
trouble?
thanks

Generally the problem will be that the path of all externally
loaded content is relative to the html page, NOT the swf location.
If everything is in the same folder then that isn't it.
Otherwise nice dice is correct, we will need to see your code
to go further.

• External .swf not loading on HTML pages

Good morning,
I'm having trouble and I was hoping someone could shed some light on what I'm doing wrong. I have a main .swf file from which external .swf files are being loaded through the use of buttons.
When I preview the animation, everything works just fine. The problem occurs when I put the animation on the website where it needs to be. The main animation appears like it's supposed to, but the buttons are not successful in loading the external .swf files. I've made sure that all .swf files are on the server but still nothing. Could anyone help? I'm not sure what the problem is.
Here's the AS:
stop();
var presentationLoader:Loader = new Loader();
addChild(presentationLoader);
//Navigation
presentation1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation4.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation5.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation6.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
function buttonClick(event:MouseEvent):void
presentationLoader.load(new URLRequest(event.target.name + ".swf"));
function homeClick(event:MouseEvent):void
presentationLoader.unload();
Thank you,
- Cmarcoux

For anyone having a similar problem in the future, the solution is in bold:
stop();
var presentationLoader:Loader = new Loader();
addChild(presentationLoader);
//Navigation
presentation1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation4.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation5.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
presentation6.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
function buttonClick(event:MouseEvent):void
presentationLoader.load(new URLRequest("../../media/flash/" + event.target.name + ".swf"));
function homeClick(event:MouseEvent):void
presentationLoader.unload();
For the animation to work on a website, the file path was needed.

• External jpg not loading when slideshow is live.

When testing locally the slideshow works fine. When i upload
the swf the external jpg do not show up. Anything graphic embedded
in the swf shows up. The external jpg don't :/
The jpgs are uploaded and all.
i use different syntax that work ok when testing locally but
no cigar when uploaded.
I can send the simple fla and jpg upon request.
Tks for your help

are you using preloader code or the onLoadInit() method of
the moviecliploader class to ensure your images are loaded before
starting the countdown to the next image load?

• Flash/AS3/XML - not loading after XML edits

HI all,
I apologize in advance for not being able to give a lot of information. I'm working with a proprietary template for e-learning and trying to get it to work. But, regardless, here's the situation.
Building e-learning using a Flash and AS3 template that has several parts and relies on one XML file for all content. There is an index (Flash) page that serves as the shell for the entire module. That index page 'hosts' a language selection menu, main menu, and the stage for .swf files that are 'pages' of each chapter. Each 'page' has several 'clips' inside of it (images, text, audio, etc.).
The XML is structured as such (N = number of items total, X = specific number of that item):
<xml>
<course (with title and several other attributes)>
<chapter type="chapter" title="Title of Chapter">
<page>
<file>pagedirectory/pageX...N.swf</file>
<clipX1...N audio='audiodirectory/audio_X...N'> If there is any on-screen text, this is where it goes.</clipX...N>
<ccX...N>This is for the closed captioning; all script/audio text is here.</ccX...N>
</page>
</chapter>
etc. for as many chapters as there are.
The XML file structure is a little odd, but it works...usually. For some reason though, I broke it.
I put in "chapter 0" which is the introduction. Everything runs smoothly, but then when I add another chapter, the main menu won't load. I assumed this to be something in my XML syntax; however, I've checked over it, including the new stuff I added. BTW: The main menu is populated by the "Chapter" attributes in the XML.
So, I guess my question is two-fold, and I understand that I may only get very general answers (or questions that relate to specifics):
Are there things in XML files that when used by AS/Flash simply don't work? I've already checked for "&" and other characters... but are there some other ones?
Any other guesses as to why the main menu loads when only one chapter is in the XML, but not when there are two? Again, I've check for tag accuracy, etc. What could I be missing though?
Thanks!
Andy

Update. Flash preview gives me this error:
"TypeError: Error #1085: The element type "cc5" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</cc5>"."
I have checked all "cc5" tags in the XML and all are closed by </cc5> ... ?

• External Fonts not loading properly in panels & buttons, works fine in labels / edits - help!

Hey guys,
I'm new to developing in Flex, so please excuse any
ignorance.
I followed the basic tutorial to use Flex to import external
fonts... here's my CSS code:
@font-face {
src: url(components/fonts.swf);
fontFamily: "Blue Moon";
global
color: #000000;
fontFamily: "Blue Moon";
fontSize:20px;
Here's what's happening:
1) On my development machine, I have the "Blue Moon" font
installed. Everything works fine here - I see the Blue Moon font on
everything in my project, from the titles of Panels to Buttons, and
so on. Everything's great.
2) On all other machines, which do NOT have the Blue Moon
font installed, I see the Blue Moon font properly on the labels and
edit boxes, but NOT on the buttons or on the title areas of panels.
Here is my site, so you can see what I mean:
http://thedemenscycle.com/
Assuming you don't own the Blue Moon font, you should notice
that the panel titles are a default font, where the "Username" and
"Password" and edit box fields are the Blue Moon font.
I am forced to conclude that for whatever reason my code is
not applying the externally imported font to the panels and buttons
for whatever reason. But it DOES apply the local font on the
machine, if availible. I'm really quite confused.
Any insight / help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

I had this same problem, ended up just droping the fonts,
would be nice to see an official response to this issue.

• XML file not loading in FF from server

I've created a web page that loads an external XML file and
then uses javascript code to parse the file for requested
information. I know it's not the best way to do this, but I'm
trying to get this working before I move on to "better" methods.
When I run the page using the "Preview/Debug in browser"
funtionality of DW everything works great both in IE and FF. But
when I load the page to the server and then load the page in a
browser, it works in IE but not in FF. It looks as though FF is
just not loading the XML file. I can't figure out why the page
would work if launched from DW, but not work if the page is loaded
on the server and then run from there, and only in FF.
The code I'm using to load the XML file is supposed to be
cross-browser compatible. I've seen many versions like from various
sources, so it should be OK. I'm pretty new to all of this so I'm
hoping that I'm just missing something simple. Does anyone have any
idea why this is behaving this way?
Thanks for any help.

so, in frame 1 of your fla before you execute that cross-domain load method, use:
System.security.loadPolicyFile("http:www.yourcrossdomain.com/subdirectoriesIfNeeded/crossd omain2.xml");
where the following (crossdomain.xml) is in www.yourcrossdomain.com's root (IF you want to allow allow subdirectory policy files):

<cross-domain-policy>
<site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all"/>
</cross-domain-policy>
and in the subdirectory (and its descendents) that you want to allow access put crossdomain2.xml:

<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="www.thedomainthatstryingtoloadcrossdomaindata.com" />
</cross-domain-policy>

• Read external XML stream into a field

Hello all -
I have been trying to get this working for a week now and still no luck. It seems like it's possible to find field values to external XML file, but Acrobat tries to parse the XML and be smart about it.
I have a custom form logic that needs to read an XML file from a URL and assign the stream to a form field that can later be accessed via FormField.rawValue.
The XML is rather basic - something like
1
2
3
4
I tried the xfa.connectionSet to no avail. I am now trying to bring in that value with SOAP, but have been reading that it might give prompts in Reader.
Can I simply read an external URL and assign the server response to a variable or a field ?
My apologies for the super-basic question!!
Thanks in advance!
Frank

I get the following error, probably means the file referenced is not available...
SQL Error: ORA-22806: not an object or REF
22806. 00000 - "not an object or REF"
*Cause: An attempt was made to extract an attribute from an item that is
neither an object nor a REF.
*Action: Use an object type or REF type item and retry the operation.

• Loading external XML data into XMLObject

hey all,
i've been working on a basic fl2 app that generates a list of
posts from an external XML file located on my server
(www.omedia.mobi/forum.xml) The swf file is also located there in
the same directory .(crime.swf).
The app runs fine in the emulator, both when i tried to load
the data locally on my mac, and when i load it from the server. But
when i put the swf file on my N70, it fails to load the data.
I'm banging my head against a wall trying to get this sorted.
has anyone had any similar experiences?
any help would be apprieciated...
many thanks
Matt

Matt–
Dumb question, are you 100% sure that your phone is making
any connection to the internet? Does your phone read a name/value
variable from an external file?
I just build a file to test this (It won't work
online—it will only work on a phone.):
http://punchkickinteractive.com/development/mobileConnectionTest/mobileConnection.swf
The FLA is also up:
http://punchkickinteractive.com/development/mobileConnectionTest/mobileConnection.fla
Also, you can check out:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/articles/flashlite11_rss.html
quote:
//Some of the code from the FLA:
canLoad = _capLoadData;
if (canLoad == 1) {
urlPath = "
http://punchkickinteractive.com/development/mobileConnectionTest/mobileConnection.txt";
loadVariables(urlPath, _root);
} else {
connection = "client does not support loading dynamic data";
// where "connection" is the variable name of the text field
If the connection is present, then I think I know what is
wrong. Let me know.

• Can an xml node load an external htm file?

I wanted to know if i could have an xml node load in an
external html page
src="filefolder/@nodename" works with an image tag, but how
would I accomplish this with a
and an html file
I tried

{@caption}

{@fullimage}

{filefolder/@nodename}
though get
nothing because there is no src.

I have another strategy to use if not. However, it would be
sweet if I could.

Hello,
I'm not sure this will work but you can give it a try to the
following code based on the
update
content sample:

{@caption}

{@fullimage}

though get nothing
because there is no src.

var element = document.getElementById('nodename');
Spry.Utils.updateContent(element, '{filefolder/@nodename}');

Please note that any CSS and JS code within the loaded
content will not execute correctly if you won't add the code in the
current file instead of the loaded file. Also please make sure that
the paths in the loaded HTML fragment are relative to the current
file and not to the HTML Fragment.

Cristian MARIN
