Streaming desktop - customize portlet width

I am consumed a WSRP Portlet and added it to a streaming desktop. If it was a filebased portlet, I can edit the properties to set the width. How do I change the width on this portlet in the context of streaming desktops?

Use the DAV facility in portal for desktop integration which will allow upload/download of portal folders similar to using Windows explorer. This is available as part of default install.

Streaming desktop mac to apple tv via Airplay-Monitor is currently very bad connection since last updates

I have this simple Problem. I can't watch any Movies or listen any Music by streaming my Desktop to the Apple TV Box (via AirPlay-Monitor) anymore since latest updates (Mac book and Apple TV Box). I also updated my fritbox 3390 but is not working
Streaming my Desktop to Apple TV Box was working very good before.
Does anyone know what this problem is?

If you are still experiencing streaming issues to your Apple TV from your MacBook, I would use these troubleshooting steps from the following article:
iTunes: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring
Wi-Fi Connection
If you are experiencing intermittent playback or significant network lag with AirPlay, it could be due to a weak Wi-Fi connection, interference, or the distance between the Wi-Fi router and your AirPlay-enabled device.
Ensure that other devices aren't trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.
Ethernet Connection
Temporarily disable firewalls (both network and local) and security software. Security software and firewalls may block ports that AirPlay uses to stream content. You can often resolve issues with security software by updating, correctly configuring, or uninstalling security software.

Is it possible to stream what is on my MacBook desktop to an HDTV via the Apple TV? If this is not possible does anyone know of a way to accomplish this?

Weblogic Portal 10.3 Asynchronous desktop Maximize portlet breaks EXT JS

Hi,
We have enabled Asynchronous desktop & using maximize/restore feature for portlets. We are extensively using EXT JS in our application. Page loads fine when its refreshed but when we use maximize ( url is placed within bea.wlp.disc.xie._service.update), EXT JS is not able to load.
If we switch back to Asynchronous mode as portlet, URLs are not surrounded by bea.wlp.disc.xie._service.update & maximize works as expected.
has anyone faced this issue? Any suggestions will be great.

We are implementing LSO in our company. We are getting this error on training activities , when a user click on training activities on portal sometimes get a message while the Loading content, Please be patient and followed by a system failure message . So we get a System Failure error message on Portal is there anyway to customize this message on Portal?

Anyone know the name of this desktop customization software?

Hi guys,
Some time ago now I saw an application somewhere that allows you to customize your desktop (or wallpaper, depending on what you call it) in more advanced ways than OS X normally allows.
It allowed you to put images of your own on it; not in the normal way (I am well aware of how to do that with System Preferences) but more like you might be able to do on a cork board. So you could put several images up at once, rotate them, re-size them, have them overlapping etc. You could also add text to the screen, and I think draw shapes with the cursor. I'm also pretty sure the software allowed you to create more than one desktop at any one time.
Thing is, I can't remember what this app is called, and even though I'm fairly good at searching the net, all the words I can think of to find this are way too general. I really need this app for something quite important. Does anyone know the name of it?
Please only answer if you have a pretty good idea of what it is, not just to say "I don't know." Sorry, it's just I've had alot of that in the past. Any good answers I will be very grateful for and will be sure to be given points. Thanks!

Setting which aliases users see in dock and desktop customization when log?

Hi,
In our school we have about 16 mac mini's running os x 10.4.11, which we have binded to our MS Windows server 2003 Active directory domain.
Our student users log onto the macs with their active directory logon accounts no problem.
What I am wondering is if it is possible to customize the dock and desktop so that when any user logs on with there network accounts they only see the applications on the dock or desktop that I want them to see.
Any help much appreciated.

Hi Thanks for this , however it doesn't seem to set the default dock when a new student user logs on.
I logged on as a local admin. I then customized the dock to display which shortcuts I desired. I then logged off and logged on as root.
Logged on as root I copied the com.apple.dock.plist from the local admin account to /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/Library/Preferences.
I then rebooted the mac.
Next I created a new student account in Active Directory and logged on as it in OSX but the dock just had all the applications it normally would.
Could you or anyone advise me please?

Streaming desktop sound!?

This is most likely a problem on my end, but I'm a little stumped as to how I can stream my desktop sound.
When I try to change the audio device option in Flash Media Live Encoder to something that will stream my desktop audio, I only have the microphone (sigmatel high definition audio) option. I have a feeling i should have something like stereo mix or some kind of playback device.
In my audio devices on my computer I have Speakers/Headphones (SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC) and it's working.
My soundcard drivers are updated. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.. disabling and reenabling.
I downloaded Virtual Audio Cable and tried to use the audio repeater, but this also doesn't have a playback device for me to select in 'Wave In'. Wave out has it though.
Am I doing something wrong? Do you know of any drivers that I can download that will let me stream my desktop audio?
Any help is appreciated.

I played my audio from another PC (Windows Media Player) and connect via AUDIO OUT to AUDIO IN of Encoder PC. That worked fine for me.

Streaming desktop into v4l2loopback

Hello all.
I'm trying to get ffmpeg (using x11grab) to stream my desktop (obviously) into a v4l2loopback device (/dev/video1 , after modprobing it).
I'm having problems getting ffmpeg to output things in the kind of format that would make /dev/video1 readable, however.
This is what I have so far:
$ ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 600x400 -i :0.0 -f null - > /dev/video1
this makes ffmpeg output (something) to /dev/video1 ; which is, unfortunately not readable (checked with mplayer tv:// just in case)
I also tried
$ ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 600x400 -i :0.0 -f video4linux2 /dev/video1
$ ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 600x400 -i :0.0 -f v4l2 /dev/video1
which told me that video4linux2 is not a proper output option. (I would guess so!)
I'm going to use the virtual webcam to record other things, and will mess around with ffmpeg to get proper quality later but I'd like to begin with being simply able to see something.

Customizable and non-customizable Portlets

We are trying to design a web site that will allow a central area administrator to publish a few portlets in a page (Navigation bar, banner etc.). This cannot be modified by users.
However, there are a few portlets within the same page which the user wants to modify (typically HTML portlets, news etc.)
How do I do this? Can I have portlet level security access (modifiable or not?)?

Customization privilege can be granted by page or by tab. The right to customize a portlet is granted by the portlet developer. If the user has any level of customization privilege on a page, and the portlet supports customization, the user will see the customize link.
For folder portlets, the page owner can turn off the customize link in the Edit Defaults page for the portlet (this requires release 3.0.9 of Portal).
For other built-in portlets that display a Customize link by default (such as the HTML portlet), you can turn off the portlet header to prevent users from customizing the portlet.
If you're building custom portlets or using Portal application components, you can explicity grant customize privilege to users and groups.
As for Add/Move/Delete, in 3.0.9 the folder portlet allows you edit items directly in the portlet - you don't have to navigate to the content area.

Stream desktop audio (ices)

Hi,
I am trying to stream the desktop sounds (i.e. the same sound that is outputted through my speakers) from my laptop to my Squeezebox. I just want a simple solution to output e.g. Grooveshark on my stereo. It seems that icecast + ices2 should be able to do this, no?
However, I am not able to generate a stream containing any sound.
This is the input section of my ices configuration is:

I suspect that I should be using another device or something like that . . . Basically, I need to know what device I need to point at to stream the desktop sounds. I have also tried to use the alsa module without luck, though.
I know a much more sophisticated system could be made using PulseAudio, but if I could make this simple setup work, it would be sufficient.
I would appreciate any input.

The error file looks to be telling you that there is something wrong with the zip library.

Where can I find a program for better desktop customization?

So, I noticed that the customization options for my Mac OS X are terribly simplistic, as opposed to the detailed options on my Windows 7. Are there any known apps that provide similar, if not better options for font, color, and window shape personalization?

None that are stable as Apple keeps changing things under the hood constantly and breaking them.
Also Apple releases a new OS X version annually, so there is a problem with market share of each OS X version that doesnt' make it worthwhile for developers to keep up with all the changes and breakage that occurs.
OS X is about 6% of the PC market share and broken down like this
10.4 - 4.5%
10.5 15%
10.6 - 52%
10.7 - 30%
10.8 - just released
If you want UI customization either run Windows or Linux in a virtual machine.
Windows 7 will last a decade easily, so you can change things and it will stay that way.
Linux versions last a long time too, but the commercial software selection is limited, some decent freeware though.
Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?
For web browsing you can get away with using Firefox as it's customizable. Safari will make you go blind.

Desktop Integration Portlet and Sun Java Runtime problem

Hi,
The DIP works just fine in our test portal (10.1.4) if users have the Sun Java installed and enabled. The problem is that we have another application in our company that requires that Sun Java NOT be enabled. Does anyone know of a workaround, or a way to modify the portlet to get around this issue?

Well, the DIP internally uses a java applet which will then scan the preferred folder. I know that this is a little too late for an answer, I was just searching on DIP when I saw this post.
