Streaming videos on my site

I have created an MP4 file in PP CS4 which will be embedded on a page on my website. The file is hosted on screencast.com, a media hoosting site.
I understand that PP doesn't create MP4s which support streaming, but must be converted first, otherwise the entire file will download to the user before beginning to play.
What is the best way to accomplish this?
Thanks for all the help!

I stream Flash  (flv)  files from my website.  Seems to work fine.

  • Streaming video in web site?

I have a real estate client who wants to show 2-3 minutes
snippets of the homes he's selling. I'm not sure of the best way to
do this, as far as streaming the video.
A previous client who used a lot of video got me hooked up
with a special hosting company that specifically had things set up
for streaming. But I've been told that's not necessary, that any
host can "stream" these types of files. Not sure if that's true or
    not.
    Any advice?

Easiest thing to do is call your host and ask what streaming
    media they
    support.
The easiest way is going to be using Flash Video, you can use
    the
encoder that comes with Flash and be up and running in no
    time at all.
Just let your client know that the more times the video gets
    watched,
the more bandwidth is eaten up. Most hosting plans have a
    limit, many
don't just stop your site from receiving traffic, but some
    do, so make
sure your client is prepared to suddenly getting billed for
    excess
    bandwidth.

  • Streaming videos slow from sites that recently worked OK.

Video streaming from some sites, e.g., http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Referee-Programs/2011/09/Referee-Week-in-Review-Wee k-28.aspx, and others,
recently working normally.  Now, extremely slow streaming to current 2011 21" iMac, old G4 'mushroom' Mac and Intel Powerbook (core duo).
BUT THEY JUST RIP ON AN iPad!  SpeedTest shows about 10 Mbps download.  Similar slow result for wired ethernet connection and over Airport.

It's an intel Mac, 2.66GHz running os10.5.8. I normally use Safari unless it crashes- then I use Firefox. Safari is 5.0.6 and Firefox is 3.0.6. Both Safari and Firefox have had their fair share of crashing recently, but it doesn't seem like the video streaming problem lies in the browser. The computer itself seems to run very hot during video, which I'm sure is relatively normal, but maybe it's been overheating or something. If I let it cool off for a bit the picture gets better but still not close to perfect. I just want my iBook G3 back- that thing worked like a charm for 7 years haha

  • QT streaming video in web site -

    Hi,
my problem is: I have streaming QTs in my web site and in SAFARI they sometimes look o.k. and sometimes the user just sees the tool-bar and hears the sound. I suppose SAFARI would display QTs allright but does not.
This problem does not occur with other browsers.
Has anybody an idea what the reason might be?
    Thanks

  • After firefox update it will not stream video, explorer will on the same system, what is the problem?

Firefox notified me that an update was available to install and after this install was complete I could not stream video from any site. I was instructed to clear my browser cache, I did ti no avail. I updated Adobe Flash and exhausted the extent of my troubling abilities w/o causing any major system unrest. I accessed the same video steam through explorer on the same system, but firefox is a far superior browser and I like to solve this problem to avoid having to find another browser.
    Please advise

I have the same problem.  After the upgrade, my wifi is greyed out, and the battery won't hold a charge long. I reset all the settings, tried all the things suggested by Apple, but it didn't work.  I took the phone to Verizon, but they said they can't fix it, go to Apple
I made an appointment at the Genius bar, where the staff was incredibly rude and dismissive. A representative told me that the wi-fi is broken and I would need to buy a new phone for $200, because mine is out of warranty. I'm due for an upgrade in a few months, so I'm not going to pay $200 for another 4S now.  I'm also not going to buy any more Apple products.  Their upgrade caused this problem, and they are not standing behind their producet.

  • Streaming videos trouble

    Hello guys how are you?
When im try to see a streaming video in a site like youtube, my video stops and only the sound works, when the video start in 0~1 sec aproximatelly.. this issue occurs for only 1sec, but its too boring...
Somebody know if it is a flash problem??
    Thank you a lot

this happens to me when I'm also running video from VLC. Do you have other media open while streaming? try trouble shooting by restarting your computer, uncheck reopen windows and just open safari or whichever browser you're using and try playing it then. (or  just close everything but your browser and try).
also did you update to 10.7.1 yet?
Message was edited by: TheSmokeMonster: after re-reading what you wrote, this could be a connection issue, sounds like your video is loading. you could try reinstalling flash player but I don't think that's your issue here, your video is just loading/buffering...

  • Quicktime Pro 7.0.3 Streaming Video and HD not working

How do I enable the streaming video for web sites to play in the webpage? All I see is a broken file image in the window where the movie should be playing.

It appears you either don't have the QuickTime plug-in installed or it is turned off.
The page worked fine for me.
Your version of Internet Explorer is showing an "image" placeholder and, obviously, QuickTime is a .mov file.
    http://movies.apple.com/movies/paramount/missionimpossible_3/mission_impossible_3-tlr1h.640.mov
Open QT Player, Open URL (File menu) and paste the link above. If it plays QuickTime works. Paste the URL in a different browser and see if it works. If it does then the QT plug-in works which means the issue is with IE.
I would throw IE off my PC and get a real browser.

  • Cant watch videos on web sites?

how come i can watch you tube but cant stream videos on web sites?

Videos require a plug-in that isn't included with with Safari browser. The iPod Touch can only watch QuickTime embed videos (go to http://www.apple.com/itunes and scroll down to the bottom, you can watch the "Now Playing" section).

  • Stop streaming video?

    Hi all,
I hope I'm posting this in the correct form. I have Googled
this topic as well as searched through previous forum posts, but
have not found an answer to this question anywhere.
Here's what I'm trying to do:
I'm using CF8 for a site, and I am embedding a flv live
streaming video. The site will have 2 types of users, Paying users
and Non-Paying users. Both sets of users can view the flv streaming
video. For the non-paying users I want to be able to stop the live
video dynamically after n-number of minutes, and then give them a
prompt on screen "Please sign up now to continue watching the
stream.". Can this be accomplished with Flash? If so, do you have
any examples or can you explain how to do this in Flash?
    Thanks

both the netstream class and the flvplayback component have
pause() methods that will stop the video streaming.

  • Lost audio with streaming video's

I'm no longer able to hear the audio track when streaming videos from any sites that isn't a QT movie on my PB. This was working fine until a week ago and I haven't installed anything new on my system. I checked my QT MIME settings with another Mac that plays the audio from streaming movies and they are the same. I would appreciate any insights.

The problem was something deep in the bowels of the OS that my local Apple Store guys could not figure out. They ran a battery of test and tried a number of approaches but they could not fix it. I had to reformat my hard drive and do a reinstall. Not wanting to re-install and register all of the applications on my system, I did the following.
    1. Created a bootable external Firewire hard drive, installing OS X and ran Software Update to get the latest OS updates.
    2. Rebooted with the external drive as my start-up disk.
    3. Ran Migration Assistant to move all of my applications (w/ registration information) and files to the external drive. To make sure everthing worked, I "Logout" so that I could sign-in to my original account that was migrated from my internal drive.
    4. After that checkout, I relaunched and booted on my OS installer disc to run Disk Utility.
    5. I erased the internal drive (now that everything was safely on my external drive) and reinstalled OS X onto the internal drive and ran Software Update to update the OS.
    6. I rebooted with the internal drive as my boot drive then ran Migration Assistant to migrate everthing from the external drive back to my internal drive.
This took a little time to run but it beat having to go through the reinstall and registration process for every application I have on my system.
This fixed the streaming problem as well as another file system problem. I downloaded an OmniGraffe file some time ago that did not display the OG icon. After this process, that problem was fixed. In the pre-OS X days you could rebuild the desktop database to resolve that problem.

  • Problems streaming video after computer sleeps

I have brand new MacBook Pro, which came with a free Lion upgrade, so one of the first things that I did upon getting my new laptop was to go to the app store and download/install Lion.
Anyways, I've been having issues streaming videos online on sites like youtube, hulu, etc. When I first start up my computer I am able to stream without any issues, but after my computer has been put to sleep and reawakened, all video that I attempt to stream online becomes choppy. The audio works perfectly, but the video is jumpy and unwatchable. If I restart my computer everything works fine again, but obviously this is an annoying process to have to go though every single time I want to watch a show or something online.
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar issues? My younger brother, who got the exact same computer as me is having no problems at all.
Additionally, when my login screen appears after a restart or whenever I turn my computer on my user icon appears all the way over to the left of my screen and is only partially visible. Not a huge inconvenience, but it's just annoying to already have weird little things going wrong with a brand new computer.
    Help please?

I too am having this same issue.  I have only started having it after installing Lion.  I am forced to restart my computer if I wish to watch a video.  I have no solutions!

  • Cannot load live video streaming on certain web sites

When I go to a horse racing site to see live streaming video, I press the play button. When I do this the word ready that is on the video screen very briefly changes to connecting to media and then reverts to ready. No matter how many times I click play this continues to happen. I have tried this site on Chrome and IE and the same thing happens. The site was working ok until I upgraded to Firefox 4. I then downgraded back to 3.6 and now it stopped working there.

What web pages is this occurring on? Have you tried to reset Firefox? [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers].
Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): [http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/].
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

  • MacBook (2006) HDTV Secondary Display Issue (no streaming video)

I've searched the discussions as thoroughly as I could before posting. I do not have the same issues as many others connecting their Macs to HDTVs for primary or secondary display.
I recently bought a Sony Bravia (KDL-32EX710) and displays the desktop beautifully at 1080p with just the Mini-DVI to VGA cable. However, the only thing it does not display, without a workaround, is streaming video from websites like YouTube, various Gawker media sites and similar sites. For example, going to YouTube loads the entire page with playlists, comments and the audio comes through but nothing but a black box where the video should be (controls are also hidden).
To view videos, I have to drag the Safari window to the MacBook's display to start the video then move it back over to the secondary display to view it. Or, I have to enable the video to be viewed in fullscreen (usually by chance) to be able to see the video.
Watching videos from the local/network drives are fine. Watching streaming videos from Netflix are fine (via Safari). Does this seem like a Flash issue as the problem videos seem to depend on Flash?
    Message was edited by: fantastikot

It seems updating Flash (for Safari, Firefox and Chrome) did the trick.

  • Is there any way to change a title for streaming video in QT Pro?

I'm trying to follow several streaming feeds at the same time, all with unhelpful titles.
For example, this is the URL I'm using to view the ROV 2 feed for Discoverer Enterprise.
    http://mfile.akamai.com/97892/live/reflector:21145.asx?bkup=21327
which results in the title, reflector:21145.asx?bkup=21327.

Actually, what I was wanting to know is if I could just change the title while watching the streaming video rather than saving the feed. I can do this in a VLC playlist but I can't seem to figure out how to open multiple windows for feeds in VLC. Also, VLC doesn't let me go back in the cached feed to see and/or save snippets which I can easily do in QuickTime Pro.
I have been able to save the streaming feeds like this although I have the $30 upgrade for Flip4Mac which I needed to export for YouTube. There may be a way to do the same thing with something free but I know less than nothing about video and this worked.
Move the playhead slider to start of snippet
Type "i" to get slider for start of snippet
Move the playhead slider to end of snippet
Type "o" to get slider for end of snippet
Adjust the "i" and "o" sliders if needed.
Right click on the feed and choose copy.
Go to File -> New Player (command N)
Go to Edit -> Paste (command V)
Go to File -> Save (command S) and save as self-contained movie
After that I use the file I just saved with the directions on YouTube to export it to a file that will process on their site.
Here is an example that shows a ROV being lowered from the deck of its mothership into the water.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsYinE5cNx8
I saved it from this streaming feed which I loaded into QuickTime Pro (File -> Open URL or command U and paste URL). I seem to recall I needed the free Flip4Mac to view this in QuickTime.
    http://mfile.akamai.com/97892/live/reflector:47175.asx?bkup=21144
I'm all set with what I want to do other than being able to change the titles on the feeds as I'm watching them in QuickTime Pro.
