Stretch effect

Hi
I've created some text on a layer, converted to movie clip and then tweened it in from the left. At the end I added a keyframe and then
created another layer using the same text for a second effect after the slide in from left has ended. I added this at the end of the slide in animation
I converted the text  to a movie clip, double clicked to bring up the sub time line ( I want the effect to loop)
I now cannot see how to gain the effect I want.
Simply if I have the text
ABCB
I want the text to stretch into A B C D so that the letters stretch in both the x and y axis with the spaces increasing as well. Imagine the type on a balloon and then stretch the balloon.
Can anyone tell me how to get this effect
thanks
Ian

Just create a three-keyframed (not 3 framed) timeline tween using the movieclip of the text where you stretch the instance in the middle keyframe to whatever proportions you intend, just like it would happen on a balloon.  At the last frame of it you tell it to go to the second frame of it.
If you want the spaces between to change more than they would stretching a balloon, then you will need to animate each letter individually.

  • Fast forward time stretch effect / blurring / MOV

    Hello friends,
    So I did an entire 3 minute video using a time stretch effect (fast forwarding, time elapse) to match a voice over.
    I saved it out as FLV so that the client could proof it. All was good so I wanted to provide an MOV file in H264 to increase quality / make Apple compatible for You Tube viewing.
    When I did, the FF time stretch video really blurred and pixelated in the video.
    Does anyone have a suggestion for a codec or something that might reduce the amount of dragging / pixelation / bluriness? (That of course has high quality)
    Video was shot using a Canon Vixia HFS30.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Bill, Steve,
    I'm hoping you can shed some light now that I can actually show you what the issue is here with the fast forward motion effect. I've put two files I've uploaded below. Same issue on both.
    The fast forward effect is on from 0:00 - 0:45
    Quiktime, H264 -
    http://youtu.be/Vs7u0kQ0hVQ
    Also, can you tell me why the MOV files don't seem to fill the frame?
    Flash, FLV

    As you can see, the higher you set the resolution, the more pixelated I become.
    Any help you can offer is appreciated.

  • Time-Stretch effect breaks Hold interporation animations. Why?

    Hello. I use AE6 windows version.
    Sometimes I want to make "hold interporation animations" on some layers, and time-stretch compositions that contains layers with hold interporation animation, but if I time-stretch those compostions,it ruins the hold interporaton, and make them all linier interporation. This messes up all hold interporation animations.
    My layer nest is something like this.
    Parent Cmposition A
         Child Composition B(this composition is time-stretched, duration is 300% )
         Layer A (this has hold interporation animation )
    In this case, composition B in compositon A ruins the layer A's hold interporation animation if compositon B is time-stretched.Can I keep the hold interporation? Right now I pre-render the compositon B and replace it with movie file and time -stretch the movie file. Movie file doen't break the hold interporation of course.
    Please help me.

    Try applying the Posterize Time effect or a posterizeTime() expression to quantize the interpolation to the nearest keyframe. You could also enable time-remapping in the pre-comp linked to a slider in the main comp and instead of animating inside the comp, animate the slider. Other than that you should consider restructuring your project. Seems somewhat inefficient to work this way. The behavior is otherwise normal - when you manipulate time, your hold keyframes may end up at fractional times and AE needs to interpolate to the next full frame, which can cause short smears and blips to appear.

  • How to create a special effect for 'wipe' and 'wheel'

    New to Captivate. Recently purchased Captivate 7. I'm trying to obtain an object 'add effect' similar to the "wipe" (from left) and the "wheel" animation effects found in PowerPoint. I want to simulate hand-drawing an emphasis line under text. I have a .png graphic of a hand-drawn red line (transparent background) that I'd like to appear by "wiping" from left to right. The "stretch" effect (from left to right) found in Captivate's "Add Effect" doesn't look right; it's obviously a 'stretch' instead of a 'wipe'.  Likewise, I would like to hand-draw a circle or oval around certain text or other objects to draw attention to these items. The "wheel" animation in PowerPoint works perfectly for this.
    Is there a way to do this in Captivate? Maybe some variation of one of the built-in effects that I've missed? Camtasia Studio has "sketch motion graphics" built in - which also does this nicely.

    Thanks for the info on Infosemantics and their widgets. As a Newbie I wasn't aware of them and their cool, useful products. However, after going through all the tutorials I couldn't figure out how the 'slider' widget would serve my need to simulate a hand-drawn line, from left to right, under text on a Captivate 7 slide. Yes, it can be used to animate (or move) any object, but not to "reveal" an object like the "wipe" animation in other programs.
    I'm thinking now that it would be easier to just build an animated GIF or a small flash file to show a hand-drawn red line moving from left to right. I have Flash CS4 but have never used it. Something else new to learn.
    Thanks again.

  • [SOLVED] KDE buggy desktop effects in OpenGL

    Hello, I've been using gnome as my desktop environment for a while now and I decided to give KDE a try once again, but I'm having some issues.
    Everything was perfect:
    http://i42.tinypic.com/14l1x8p.jpg
    But I noticed that whenever I snap a window to any side of the screen and the stretching effect is displayed this happens:
    http://i44.tinypic.com/dm9oyg.png
    And If I go back to a small window:
    http://i40.tinypic.com/104p15i.png
    Now, as soon as I click elsewhere those black/invisible boxes are gone.
    As you can see I checked under system settings >> desktop effects >> advanced and, if I change the Compositing Type to Xrenderer the problems are gone, but as you can imagine that is not ideal, this ONLY happens when I select ANY version of OpenGL as the Compositing Type.
    I use the proprietary AMD drivers for my HD 6770, I think this problem might have something to do with that.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • What's New in Audition 3.0?

    Don't have time now to get into how they help, but I would just like to say that there is MUCH improvment in Audition 3.0...I'd like to say this because I've heard lots of grumbling on other forums about 3.0 not being an upgrade at all over the previous versions 1.5 or 2.0, this is completely false, for me in particular the improvement in MT View (editing: collectively trimming, duplicate entire track and fading improvements) are indispensable.
    and most people don't even mention any improvement aside from spectral view (which is pretty big in itself, isn't it?) spot healing etc...which I haven't even used yet.
    I just want to say, they definetly made some good improvements, while they may not be overwhelming to some they are entirely useful in my situation and I think for most people they would come to see they are definite improvements if they used it long enough.

    ah guh suk yuh dutty sket mudda bumbohole battybway!
    It's a very helpful post because there is people who come to this forum when trying to decide to what recording software too purchase, and there's also people all over the internet who say that Audition is not better then Pro-Tools and more amateurish when in many regards it is more professional and has a better interface and GUI, especially if you're not doing too many tracks (less then 16 or perhaps more on a high end system). It's multi-track is easy and stays out of your way, has great automation, and some updated editing capabilities and has an excellent mbc that pro-tools does not have (maybe not excellent but very good)..and I believe pro-tools is a cpu hog doing certain things just like Audition is.
    So people come to this site and I'm going to tell them the truth that it has been added to nicely since Adobe bought it and hopefully if people buy it will have another update to make the multi-track even better.  It has a few bugs and downsides but so does pro-tools, I think the upsides are greater then pro-tools.
    The only downsides are the midi is a bit lacking compared to other programs which have been in the midi-game longer, and that it does use alot of cpu for certain efx, and the multi-track is better in some ways but not as advanced in others in terms of sequencing and arranging, it could improve in that area, loops and stretching loops to match each other then being able to record how you bring the loops in and out in a sequence like ableton but in it's own way then it would rule the world forever.

  • Looking for quicker way to change duration of file

    Hello!
    I work in a broadcast environment and we have just upgraded to Audition from CoolEdit. It was a much needed change and is much better, but there is one problem. When we are doing production, we are getting ads that come out to 29.2 or 28.3 seconds, etc. We need to be able to compress and expand our recordings. CoolEdit was able to shave seconds off within seconds, even with our longer programs that are running 3 minutes. Audition took 15 minutes this morning to take off two extra seconds. Is there a quicker way to do this?
    Thanks!

    The Stretch effect offers two different stretching algorithms:  the default, based upon iZotope Radius and the legacy Audition algorithm.  The iZotope algorithm is extremely high-quality and accurate, but requires a lot of processing and can be slow.  The Audition algorithm is significantly faster, but you may hear artifacts beyond certain stretch percentages.
    I'd recommend taking some of the content you've stretched using the iZotope algorithm, replicate it with the Audition algorithm, and preview to see if you notice a difference.  If not, then you could consider using the Audition as the default for future projects which have a quick turn-around time.

  • The Art of Scrolling Challenge

    Good morning ppl,
    A while back I was working on creating a scrollbarless sliding thumbnail list. I scoured the net and couldn't find anything -- anything free that is. All I found were sites selling products (minus source files of course). Ridiculous! So I ended up coding a component myself, but it was never quite satisfactory.
    So I'm turning to you all, because this is really a problem that should be freely available to the community and I know we have some good coders about.
    I spent all yesterday (and the better part of the night/morning) working on this app. It's an app that will hopefully encourage you to participate.
    The objective is to write small class file, which extends AbstractScrollingAlgo. There is a scrollMe() method which you will need to override. Basically in the main app, scrollMe() is called every time you mouse over the list. Once you mouse over the list, everything you could possibly need to know to achieve a cool scrolling effect will be available to you. You simply need to animate the hScroller::value in some wickedly awesome way.
    Once you have coded the algo subclass, you will need to add an instance of this to the main app (place it in the "listOfScrollingAlgos" array collection). I have already kick-started this off with FollowMeAlgo.mxml (your class should be similar to this -- easy!).
    Hopefully, we'll get a few ppl working on this and in a few days we can put all the algos into one swf and vote on the winner.
    Lastly, a few more q's:
    1 pat-yourself-on-the-back pt if you can name the design pattern used to change the scrolling behavior at RT.
    2 karma pts if you can explain to me why virtualLayout is messing with my color scheme.
    5 karma pts if can criticize my code and suggest how I could make it more efficient (this app has some serious flaws!!).
    and 5 more karma pts if you participate and send in a working class.
    Enjoy the rest of your weekend and send in those algos!!

    Ok, an update (for anybody interested).
    I've added a wings and externalHScrollBar property to the the base class of all scrolling algorithm classes. So this should provide for more than enough scrolling variations I've ever seen on the net.
    There are also two new algo classes: wings and wingsII, which you can see in the swf file.
    There's a lot to do. A few ideas rolling around my head are:
    iphone pull/stretch effect, where you can stretch the slider past minimum/maximum values and see white space; bounces back when pulled too far.
    iphone toss effect. cast the scroller and the motion is continued after mouse is released.
    infinity. list cycles in an infinite loop.
    wingsIII variation with some kind of acceleration (and capped velocity).
    Center-based acceleration. (See David's comments above)
    Today scroll effect (see here)
    better variations of "follow me" (see here, here and here)
    Some effects are fairly simple and I'm hoping to be able to leverage some of the new animation effects (motion paths etc) but don't have a lot of advanced examples to work off. I briefly looked in the SDK earlier at the button_buttonDownHandler from spark.components.supportClasses and I can tell you that getting the scroller to function smoothly is not always trivial!! Saw some of Chet Haase's work in there, maybe he has some ideas for me?? Will be pouring over the SDK more thoroughly tomorrow.
    In the mean time, here is the working swf and source files I have:
    http://moothink.com/queue_schmueue/TheArtOfScrolling.zip (in case the file doesn't attach properly below...)
    As always comments, ideas, code are welcome. Thanks,

  • Dynamic Text Boxes / Resizing text boxes

    I have a site with a dynamic text box that I have initialized
    (I'm not sure that that is the correct term) at the beginning with:
    myText = new LoadVars();
    myText.onLoad = function()
    { textBox_txt.htmlText = this.content;
    myText.load("text/bio.txt");
    stop();
    Then I have just used a text box throughout with the same
    instance name, although sometimes I have it on a new keyframe. I
    assumed I could just keep loading text into it on different frames
    with:
    stop();
    myText.load("text/performances.txt");
    This appears to be working, except that sometimes it seems to
    be confused and the text box on a certain frame has the wrong text
    in it. Do I have to initialize one for each frame in order for them
    to display the right code? What could be causing it to load another
    text file if it's frame action is telling it to load something
    else? It seems unnecessary to have to re-initialize it for a new
    text box instance in every new frame, but is that the way it has to
    be done?
    Also, I'm not clear on resizing text boxes. It seems like if
    I use the width and height numbers to resize this text box on
    different pages then it changes the size of the text inside, and
    the scroll bar (the UIScrollbar) is a little squishy looking
    sometimes. How does this work?
    Thanks for any help.

    You will find it much better to create a new LoadVars object
    for each of the frames, just call them myText1 myText2 etc.
    The name of the text box instance in this case is irrelevant
    but best practice would be to give them individual names.
    As for the stretching effect use setSize() for UI
    components.

  • Flex time: manual moving of some notes?

    I'd like to select 3/4 notes of a guitar solo and move them up (because they are too delayed in relation to the tempo) but I can't find the way to do it. I only get a stretching effect on all previous notes. How can i do?

    Received this advice and responded on another forum but still need help.
    Thanks for the response!
    Had a few problems trying your suggestions.
    *"Finding BPM: select the audio region and choose from the local Arrange area menu: Audio > Detect Tempo."*
    Since it is a whole song and not just a part, such as drums, with well defined transients, it either can't detect the tempo or when it does it is wrong.
    *"Make it follow the tempo track: Use Flex Time (in the track parameters, choose a Flex mode). "*
    This would be fine if I didn't have to redefine all the transient markers as correct flex markers. Since Flex Time has problems defining the correct transient markers for complete songs it can be very time consuming.
    Maybe I'm still missing something?
    *"Third: what anchor? Do you mean the transient? Or the flex markers? You can move the transients in the Sample editor, and the Flex markers right on the track in Flex view (Click the Flex button in your toolbar)."*
    The audio region anchor in the sample edit window, the orange arrow. I think this is some how turned off after turning on flex time and I am unable to move it. I use this to line up the first beat if there is something before the music starts, such as someone speaking or a lead in with a different tempo than the song tempo, that I would still like to keep. That way I can move the region in the arrange window and it will line up according to the first beat and not the beginning of the region. Am I making any sense?

  • Spry Vertical Menu Question...

    Can someone please let me know how to get rid of the
    stretching effect on my vertical menu.
    http://www.mv2g.com/isomed
    It's working perfectly on Firefox but moves on IE. I can seem
    to find what is causing this.
    Thanks for your input!

    Hi James,
    Your second post, because it contained a URL to your site, made the first post redundant.
    First, I found that the following rules have been left out of the CSS:
    /* HACK FOR IE: to make sure the sub menus show above form controls, we underlay each submenu with an iframe */
    ul.MenuBarVertical iframe
        position: absolute;
        z-index: 1010;
        filter:alpha(opacity:0.1);
    /* HACK FOR IE: to stabilize appearance of menu items; the slash in float is to keep IE 5.0 from parsing */
    @media screen, projection
        ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
            display: inline;
            f\loat: left;
            background: #FFF;
    These rules are vital for IE.
    Second, the movie is interfering with the menu bar. Have a look here http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14201.html.
    I hope this helps.

  • AVCHD to Blu-ray yields out-of-sync audio when not using TS

    I have a need (won't go into too many details) to render my AVCHD project as separate M4V and WAV files; I can't have the output be multiplexed as a TS. However, the audio is horribly out-of-sync unless I output as a TS. For example, if I load up a timeline with ~40min of clips from my Sony HDR-CX12 AVCHD camcorder and render as Blu-ray H.264 1920x1080i, non-multiplexed, with PCM audio, the resultant WAV file is a full four seconds shorter than the M4V file! Ouch!! I'm guessing each AVCHD clip has just slightly less audio than video, and that it just adds up in the end, but why can't Premiere accomodate this? Is there a way to have it introduce delay at each cut? Obviously, the packetizing/multiplexing process for a TS accounts for this, but again, I can't use a TS; I need a WAV file that's in step with the video.
    I also tried rendering a TS (which plays fine and doesn't have sync issues) and then demuxing with xport.exe, but this leads to the same problem.
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Cheers,
    Aaron

    > Could this be a DF versus NDF issue?
    Hmmm... every setting and Properties window shows 29.97... anything else I should look for?
    > use a Time Stretching effect
    I'll keep that in my back pocket for now. Doesn't seem like I should have to go to that length, however, but... Assuming the error in the source is relatively constant per AVCHD clip (maybe not a valid assumption, but seems reasonable), then the stretch effect would result in audio that was more or less out-of-sync depending on the density of cuts on the timeline.
    Is it possible to create an audio-only TS using Premiere? Something that preserves the timing information? Seems not, but maybe there is. When I uncheck "Export Video", the option to create a TS seems to disappear :-(
    Cheers,
    Aaron

  • Photo Booth gives unproportional picture

    I did a clean reinstall recently, and now Photo Booth has this horizontal stretching effect, which I'm very sure it didn't had before
    I.e. if I look directly into the camera my face looks broad, if tilt my head on a side it looks long
    I tried trashing Photo Booth preferences with no luck. What could possible have gone wrong?

  • Is there a way to stretch images or give them any effects?

    I was temping a project in VB and the interface was real nice, however when I ported it to Java it became very dull. In VB I used the stretch property and with borderstyle it gave my aqua like background images a nice indent. However in Java I can't seem to stretch the control or apply a nice borderstyle. Either I can custom size the image very every implementation or apply another effect. Is there a tutorial with example showing effects you can apply with an image?

    You probably want to take a look at the [url http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/2D/index.jsp]Java 2D API; that will have some example usage like that found [url http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Media/intimages/]here.

  • Will Stretch property of Viewfinder effect the resulting video?

    Hi there;-)
    I use AudioVideoCaptureDevice in my Silverlight app to record videos. The viewfinder is a rectangle. My app have the ability to change the Stretch property of the viewfinder and that works like a charm. I have not tested if the resulting video looks different
    when I change the Stretch property of the viewfinder but in your observation does it make a difference? I mean the viewfinder only shows what is being streamed from the camera sensor, right? So if I think about it it shouldn't effect the resulting video at
    all but I'm not sure that's why I'm asking you. Thanks in advance.

    I have not tested if the resulting video looks different when I change the Stretch property of the viewfinder but in your observation does it make a difference?
    Why haven't you tested this yourself?
    if I think about it it shouldn't effect the resulting video at all but I'm not sure that's why I'm asking you.
