String inserted into an existing string

Hi All,
I am trying to insert a string into the middle of another string. Does anyone know how I can do this. Basically what I want to do is this..insert the contents of the second string(str2) before the <Envelope> tag in the first string(str1):
String str1 = "<?xml version="1.0" encoding = "UTF-8"?><Envelope><Header>.....</Envelope>";
String str2 = "<Address><Email><Phone>";
The final string that I want is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding =UTF-8?><Address><Email><Phone><Envelope><Header>.....</Envelope>

Just use substrings to pull apart your existing string and insert the new text in the middle
String str1 = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding = \"UTF-8\"?><Envelope><Header>.....</Envelope>";
String str2 = "<Address><Email><Phone>";
String insertBefore = "<Envelope>";
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
sb.append(str1.substring(0, str1.indexOf(insertBefore)));
sb.append(str2);
sb.append(str1.substring(str1.indexOf(insertBefore)));
System.out.println(sb.toString());

I am new to Dreamweaver and I just built a jquery with 3 tabs of information I want to put into my existing web page. It has saved it as an entire webpage, but it needs to be a table that I can insert into my existing web page. It's 3 tabs that have product information under each tab for my customers to view. Concatenating strings to form an INSERT INTO

I am trying to build an insert statement by concatenating
strings. Basically, this is what I'm doing:

<cfset string2 = string1 & #coldata#>

So if I exchange the <cfquery> tags for
<cfoutput> I get a valid INSERT statement:
INSERT INTO Habitat (AREA, ARTID, BIOTOP) VALUES (43, 37,
'text')
But when I have the <cfquery> tag I get this error:
Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression
'''text'''.
I have tried changing the ('#coldata#') to (''#coldata'') and
also tried ("#coldata#") and (""#coldata#"") but I get errors all
the time...
So. How do I do this?

Hehe, looks like someone got a bit curious. ;-)
I do know a few things. I have a base table that contains a
column with the table-names of all tables which are part of the
application. Whenever a new table is created, it is added to this
list so it can be loaded with all the others.
I have a form that loads tables with their structures from
the database, and lets the user change both column names,
datatypes, table names, whatever... Assuming of course that the
existing data in the table doesn't conflict with the proposed
change. All form elements are given names from table-names or
column-names and datatype from the database stored alongside.
Tricky thing was to make sure the "insert into" gets the right
columns and values for that table since the form items are thrown
out in any order and multiple tables are treated in the same form.
But now I got it all figured out. :-)

A problem with inserting into DB hebrew strings

Hi,
I am working with a 8.1.7 DB version, and use thin driver.
I have my DB Charest configured to iso 8859P8 (which is visual Hebrew)
I have no problem in making a connection and retrieving strings, using SELECT * FROM ..
and then use the ResultSet.getString(String columnName) method .
I also have no problem in inserting the Hebrew characters , and retrieving them back ( I represent them in a servlet ),
The only problem I do have, is when I try to insert into DB a row in the following manner
INSERT into table_name values( Hebrew_String_value1, Hebrew_String_value2, Hebrew_String_value3, Hebrew_String_value4)
the insertion works fine , but somehow the insertion misplaces the strings order and actually the insertion is in opposite order :
Hebrew_String_value4, Hebrew_String_value3, Hebrew_String_value2, Hebrew_String_value1.
If I use the same insert with English Strings , there is no problem.
does any one have the solution how I insert the strings in the right order ?
one solution I have is to insert only one column and then update the table for each column , but then , instead of one execute() action , I have to make ,
1 execute() + 9 executeUpdate() for a 10 column table

Can you try specify the column order in your INSERT statement, i.e.
INSERT INTO mytable( column1_name,

                     column4_string)My wild guess, though I can't understand why at the moment, is that there may be a problem because Hebrew is read from right to left, that may be causing a problem.

As per my understanding your scenario is File to file where you will get output fiel in XML format.
Now that XMl payload need to be passed as single string in the database via XI.
You cauld do this but you need to imply some manipulations such as
With the help of standard API you need to concatenate the XML tags and create the structre along with the data.
For e.g. in your outpuf file the XML structre contain data as
<field1>ABCD</field1>
Then in mapping
The source field will be mappeda s concat(<field1>) + value of Source field "ABCD" + concat(</field1>) to the target field.
This is the way that you could achive the requirments else there is no direct way avaialble for it.

How to parse a delimited string and insert into different columns?

Hi Experts,
I need to parse a delimited string ':level1_value:level2_value:level3_value:...' to 'level1_value', 'level2_value', etc., and insert them into different columns of one table as one row:
Table_Level (Level1, Level2, Level3, ...)
I know I can use substr and instr to get level value one by one and insert into Table, but I'm wondering if there's better ways to do it?

Are Virtual Copies saved in Backups? How do I insert a backup into an existing catalog
I deleted a tif image file that I didn't intend to, which had several LR virtual copies created from it. The virtual copies had a lot of important history that document my print preparation edits. Are these virtual copies saved in the LR backups?
If so, how can I insert them into the catalog I am using? I have made a lot of edits in the two days since my last backup and don't want to lose that history either. Do you suggest I make a current backup before retrieving files from my last backup? I know I'm supposed to go to the backup location and open the last backup, but how do I blend that with the current work from the last 2 days?

That was exactly what I was after. However, I'm still having trouble getting the virtual copies imported. The master file was in my trash, I restored it to the original hard drive folder. Before I got your message I re- imported it to LR but of course LR came up with a new name since I was importing from and saving it to the same folder in LR. And of course no copies. This may have been a mistake, but before starting the procedure you described, I re-named the master file (it seemed that the import from backup would re-create it so I didn't want a conflict).
Then I did what you said and used the 'Import From Another Catalog' feature. I found the virtual copies in the backup and checked them. But when the import completed, the it gave me file names xxx/Copy1, xxx/Copy2 but there was no image or history or metadata. When I tried to find the folder containing the files, it said it couldn't be found. So I missed something in the settings. When I tried again, there was a warning saying the file(s) exists in the catalog and its settings differ. I went ahead anyway and the message I got was "No Photos in previous import"
Here's what the import from backup shows:
A box with catalog contents and all the folders and files within them, that you can check.
A New Photos section, which gives 2 file handling choices: a)add new photos to the catalog without moving them or b) don't import new photos
A Changed existing photos section with 2 replace options: a) nothing or b) Metadata and develop setting only. If you choose this you can check a box to preserve old settings as a virtual copy.
Not sure what to do. I changed the master file back to its original name, but that didn't make a difference. Suggestions? Thanks, Tom

   i think performance will be a big problem
2. Office integration
    i am not sure it's facing the same performance issue ?
3 . XXL_SIMPLE_API/FULL_API
    I am not sure whether they can insert data into an existing excel file?

If you want to APPEND data( add data to an existing excel file) from SAP, then use GUI_DOWNLOAD fm with APPEND = 'X' paramter.

Insert help into an existing adobe air app

Is there a way to somehow stick the adobe air help into an existing adobe air application? Ideally, we would like to bundle the two apps together so that when they click help it opens the robohelp adobe air help app. Does anyone know of any way to do this without using any other third party source like merapi? Could we export the help into a swc or something like that?

Using INSERT INTO for FDM Memory Issue

We configured FDM to run an integration script into our EBS instance upon the import step. It worked fine for a time, then we began running out of memory on the FDM server. Upon Oracle's suggestion, we stopped running through a record set to append and update the values to strWorkTableName and instead began using INSERT INTO. I admit, I have never needed to use the INSERT INTO way of doing things so I may be missing something bery basic.

I really think the issue is that I am not telling the script where to find the Oracle tables at. I left the code in where we were using the UDL to call in the opening of the record set, but since we are doing away with the record set how do I let FDM know where to find the Oracle tables?

Here's a script with INSERT INTO that works fine if FDM back-end is SQL DB and it's pulling from FDMHarris data warehouse which is on SQL Server.
Problem is when FDM back-end is Oracle DB and it's pulling from FDMHarris data warehouse which is on SQL Server.
I'm assuming the INSERT INTO statement needs to be written differently, syntax wise?

How to insert text in existing file.?????

how to insert text in existing file.?????
my file contains simple text with numbers of lines having more then 10 MB size and it might be increase up to 100MB.
i required to seek to spec. position and insert chunk of characters to file without overwriting existing one.
I tried out with RandomAccessFile class Also.
Pl. Suggest me way to insert String in existing file.

overwrite portions of an existing file or extend one by
writing past the current end of file.
If you want to insert text into a file you have to write
out a new file.

Strange behaviour on text insert into a HTML pane

Hi all,
I am trying to fix a problem on inserting a span tag into an existing html page (in an EDITABLE JEditorPane).
The behaviour:
Assuming the cells in a table (3 rows, 2 columns) are numbered from 1 to 6, with cell one being the top left most, cell 2 top right, cell 3 middle left, etc.
1. Inserting the text "" in cell 4 causes during any attempt to later type into cell 5 the characters to be appended instead into cell 4, directly after the close span tag.
2. The insertion in the first place behaves strange. If I have the caret positioned for cell 5 so that I can insert there
(via the function void javax.swing.text.html.HTMLEditorKit.insertHTML(HTML Document doc, int offset, String html, int popDepth, int pushDepth, Tag insertTag) )
even though the caret position is visible in cell 5, the insertion seems to take place in cell 4.
I can sort of compensate for this by adding 1 to the offset. However, then when inserting into a line of text, for example, "the quick red fox jumped over the lazy dog"
I insert directly before the 'j' in 'jumped', the insertion looks like this "the quick red fox j..umped over the lazy dog"
So that is no solution.
IMPORTANT! Just to prove it is not the span tag causing the trouble, if this span tag already exists in a cell on 'Load' of the html file, the strange behaviour is not observed.
Something is going wrong here. It is me? Or is it a bug?
Please help!!
Here is a test app, and the test html you can use (place in current directory).
Please test like this:
1. run application (the html should be loaded into the pane)
2. the span tag is programmed to automatically insert at cell 4 (by using the +1 method on the insert)
3. another span tag was already existing in the html file, at cell 8
4. Attempt to type into cell 5
result: the text appears instead at cell 4
5. Type into cell 9
result: the text correctly is entered into cell 9
See the difference!!

fix another stuffed up attempt at a SSCCE.

Well, I know nothing about HTML in JEditorPanes. I have never been able to figure out how insertions work.
My comment was a warning to others. Some people (like me) avoid answering posting of this type for reasons given in the JavaRanch link. Others will answer anyway. Other might first check the other site to see if they are wasting there time, but they can only do that if a link was posted with the original question.
The only suggestion I have is to repost the question, (since this posting is now completely off topic) making sure to then respond to this posting stating that a fresh question has been asked so you don't get a discussion going on in two places.

Nested namespace definition is removed on insert into DB

I have an XML document that is like this (drastically simplified):

<stuff:SpecialElement xmlns:stuff="http://blah.com/stuff/">

</stuff:SpecialElement>
</stuff:OtherThings>
</stuff:Foo>
When this document is inserted into the database, the xmlns:stuff namespace definition is removed from the SpecialElement node. I am guessing that it is removed because it was deemed redundant since it is re-defining the "stuff" prefix to the same value it already had.
The problem is that the namespace string is important for another part of the application. Is there a way to prevent Berkley DB XML from removing it?

The getDocument() API returns the XmlDocument object unparsed from the container so you get exactly what you inserted. When you query you are no longer getting the document itself (unless your query asks for it) but instead result nodes from within that document. The default serialization of those nodes behaves as I mentioned earlier -- it strips out unnecessary namespace decls. This is a function of the default serialization which has no special configuration to keep the namespaces.
In your application you can use XmlValue.asEventReader() to get an XmlEventReader interface to your results to serialize how you'd like. That's why that interface exists.

I've also tested this using eclipselink and got same error.

What version of EclipseLink did you try? This looks like bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=280436 that was fixed in EclipseLink 2.0, so please try a later version.
You can also try working around the problem by making both fields writable through the reference mapping.
