String variable - within parameters statement

Hi,
is it possible to define a string variable like:
PARAMETERS: var_xxx type string,
It doesnt works. Why?

HI,
For patameters you can only use FIXED-LENGTH types' Since String is a data type of variable length you can not use it for declaring parameters. Both string and Xstring cannot be used as both are variable lengths. This only for releses before ERP 2005. From ERP 2005 onwards you can type using string but not using xstring.
You can create your own type with
TYPES: param_type(200) type c.
PARAMETERS: input type param_type.

EnterProjectStage - reading GUID from a string variable within Workflow created in Visual Studio 2012.

I am creating a Project Server Workflow (site workflow) using Visual Studio 2012.
If i set the "EnterProjectStage" activity with a GUID within quotes the workflow works
(as suggested in the MSDN blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project_programmability/archive/2012/11/07/creating-project-workflows-using-visual-studio-2012.aspx).
However, the GUID of stages will change from environment to environmet (QA, Stage, PROD). So, I tried setting the GUID in a string variable (which i am populating dynamically) and assigned the string variable to the "EnterProjectStage"
activity. However, this dynamic assignment of stage id to "EnterProjectStage" does not work and after deployment the workflow dumps with the following error:

Thank you for your reply. But at this point, one of my points of confusion is what software I have available to me. I wish I had a useful central help desk to call up and just say, "Hey, load me up with all of the professional version(s) of Visual
Studio. But I do not know what we have license to. And I kind of need to know what the options are, so that I can ask a specific question of our vast buracracy.
For now, I have downloaded only free versions of Visual Studio client software. Since my company does have servers running Microsoft SQL Server, I am going to assume that we have proper licensing for those servers. But does that server license
allow me to get any professional versions of the PC client software for the various Visual Studio(s) 2012?
And if I get a professional version of Visual Studio 2012, does that do away with the three different flavors that I have right now? I have 2012 versions of SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio Express, and Visual Studio Shell (Integrated).

How do I use a variable within a sql statement

I am trying to use a local variable within an open SQL step but I keep getting an error.
My sql command looks like this "SELECT BoardDetailID FROM BoardDetails WHERE SerialNumber = " + locals.CurrentSerialNo
If I replace the locals.CurrentSerialNo with an actual value such as below the statement works fine.
"SELECT BoardDetailID FROM BoardDetails WHERE SerialNumber = " + " 'ABC001' "
Can someone tell me how to correctly format the statement to use a variable?

Thanks for the reply. I have changed the required variable to a string, but with no success. I have reattached my updated sequence file and an image of the error.
When looking at the Data operation step I see that the sql statement is missing everything after the last quotation mark.

Query string variable from "loaderInfo.parameters" always "undefined"

I've searched the internet and these forums and found plenty of information on accessing query strings using loaderInfo.parameters but they're all written for ActionScript in the Timeline and none of them work for me.
This is my HTML:
             ...which is a modification of the HTML that Flash generates, which I'm eventually not going to be using but this is for quick testing purposes. I have read that Flash's "AC_RunActiveContent.js" has to be modified to use the flashVars parameter, but does it have any affect on query strings appended to a URL?
The variable I want is swfid (=3).
eamchartmaster04.fla has a Document class, EAMChartMaster.as. Within that I have the following ActionScript:

Note the "myParent" object is created for scoping to other classes, but I used it here in desperation because "this" and "this.root" did nothing, but they should all be the same thing.

I looked into my own question about AC_RunActiveContent.js, and why yes, it does need to be addressed, no matter how you want to pass your variables. So in addition to appending the query on the filenames in the HTML object section, it also goes in the javascript in the HTML like so:

At least I know my actionscript-fu is not weak.

Storing Println Statements in a String Variable

My program prints series of statements, but i want to store this statements in a String variable.
I am doing as follows , please advise me if it is a correct way , if not could anyone please suggest the correct way.

That looks fine to me.
If you don't want to use streams, you can do something like:

How to compare numbers in a string variable?

I have a powershell script that is grabbing the output of a website and storing it into a string variable. What I would like to do is check a line in the output which contains two numbers - the number of emails sent out of the total number of emails.
I have not come up with a way to do this that works. I was thinking of maybe using a regex, but there are other numbers I don't care about that keep getting caught.
Here is a sample of what is contained in the string variable:
Email ID: 46862270 : Succeded. Time Taken: 00:00:00.0924511
Email ID: 46862272 : Succeded. Time Taken: 00:00:00.0493887
-- Sent 250 of 250 emails successfully. Total Dispatch Time: 00:00:08.1406995
--State Written to DB. Time Taken for DB Write: 00:00:00.4611053
Here is another sample:

So if I have the above contained in a variable called $httpResponse how can I find only the line that starts with -- Sent
and then subtract the first number from the second number?
So for example if I have this:

Each set of parens will designate a capture group, and those can be referenced from $Matches after a successful -match.
Just remember that they will all be strings, and to do a math operation you have to cast at least the one on the LH side to a numeric type first.

I need to find whether a string is available in a String of varying length.
i.e., i want to know string "access" is available in a String variable( may have values like "microsoft access 2000 bla bla bla .." or "bla bla access microsoft").
so, i dont know the starting point of the word 'access' in the String variable.

How do I use a variable within paragraphFormat?

I would like to insert the firstname of a client within paragrapgFormat(). ie: paragraphFormat(Hi #firstname#, your info......) When I output this the firstname just shows as #firstname#. Is there a way to get his to work?

Having said that, there are still 2 things I fail to understand. Firstly, why loop across the query when there is just one row? Secondly, why do you save a static message in the database when you could just save it in the CFML code as a string variable?

Dynamic Variable name (for int/long) from a String variable

I want to give a int/long variable name from a String.
for ex.
String str = lookup + "Id";
lookup is a String variable coming from XML. Now, for instance lookup="name". So str = "nameId".
Now I want to create a int/long variable by nameId.
Could anybody tell me the way how to do. Please don't tell to use MAP.

Well you can't. Use a Map.
The compiler translates variable names into slot numbers, either within an object or withing the local "stack frame" and these slot numbers are assigned names at compile time. No new slots can be created at run time. Java is not Basic.
Reflection allows you to find existing field names and methods (not local variables), so it's possible to map, for example, XML attribute names to field names or setters in an object but the names have to be known at compile time.

How to use parameterized statements with labSQL?

I have a big problem with labSQL. Every statement or query I have to use in my program works correctly, but I have a performance problem when writing my data to the database. The problem is the handling of the SQL statements by the DB. The solution will be the use of parameterized statements with labSQL.
The manual for NI Labview Database Connectivity Toolkit provides such information, but there are large differences to labSQL, and I don't get the clue. Is anybody able and would be so kind to help me? If someone has an example for using parameterized SQL statements with labSQL or the ADO methods for such stuff, please be so kind to share it with me.

Thank you very much for your help. I already had set up the correct SQL statement and created the parameters but got errors when executing the command object. After some tries I found that neither the SQL statement nor the parameters were the source of the error, as I had expected first.
The problem was that I was sending the wrong data type to the execute method of the command object. It expected some variant input for the parameters. I send an array of strings, which caused an error. I casted that array to variant with the same result. But a single string to variant worked well (with only one parameter in the SQL statement). The easy solution was to cast all strings to variants, and then build an array out of them. The execute method worked with that. Now the transaction is 4 times faster than before

Is there a limitation of characters in a String variable in 8.0.2?

Is there a limitation of characters in a String variable?
I'm trying to create an email within my script and when I paste my text into my parameter, which is a String variable, it will only paste up to 80 characters (including spaces).
In 7.0 I was able to paste my paragraphs and the larges paragraph had 346 characters (including spaces).

Ah.... that's it.
I modified the value of the parameter within the script and added the text that I needed. I added the following:
"To transfer the file over to the router's flash you will need an TFTP or FTP program. Start your application and make sure that the default directory is pointed to the directory where you copied the greeting. Now log into the router that needs to be updated. Once you are in the router issue one of these commands:"
It accepted it and was able to use the entire value. So it must be the web page that will not allow me to enter more then 40 characters.
Do I need to get this submitted as a bug?
