Hi Jyothy,
1.Define a Sequence Generator
2. Define a fuction ETL_ID_FN.
The function definition should be as follows.
Get the "Next Val" of Sequence generator and pass that value as a return value.
3. Import the funciton into OWB.
4. Open your mapping.
5. Use Constant Operator
6. Define a variable
7. In the defintion of varaible, call the imported function.
8. Validate it.
9. Assign it to the field whichever you want to.

Very slow performance when assigning value to a form item
Dear all,
I have an add-on form that contains 30 text edits. I did not creat the from with screen painter but positioned them by marking each item's top and left position in the new sub.
I have named them as 'edBox1', 'edBox2'......, 'edBox30'
At a point I need to assign value to each edit text, I have queried the content from DB into one recordset. However, when I start to assign values to each edit text, the performance became very slow.
my code is as follow
me.form.items.item("edBox1").Specific.String = recordset.field.item(0).value.tostring
me.form.items.item("edBox30").Specific.String = recordset.field.item(29).value.tostring
I found that B1 seem to iterate each item on the form in order to find the item I specified.
so I think I should specificy items earler.
Now for each item I dim an object for it at new sub
Dim oedBox1 As SAPbouiCOM.EditText
Dim oedBox30 As SAPbouiCOM.EditText
and while creating forms, I specificy each item to the matched object
Then I assign values to items by
oedBox1.String = recRetrive.Fields.Item(0).Value.ToString
oedBox30.String = recRetrive.Fields.Item(29).Value.ToString
However, B1 still iterates to find the item and the performance is still slow, does anyone has a better solution to this issue? please kindly advise.
Thank you
Alan
Edited by: Chih-Peng Chen on Dec 17, 2007 8:42 AMHi Chen,
you can find one example under SDK samples which will guide on using datasources
Bind the controls to dbdataource and then query the datasource.
then update form using oForm.Update(),this will automatically fill the values in all edit boxes and it will be very fast as well
Hope it helps you

ORA-01555 error when assigning values based on geometry
Hello,
I have a table with 220,000+ records with street information, and I am trying to assign a municipal area (stored in another table) based on the geometry of the road line and the geometry of the municipal boundary.
CREATE TABLE TEMP AS SELECT A.ID, B.AREA FROM ROADS A, PLACES B WHERE B.TYPE IN (33,35,36,37) AND mdsys.sdo_relate (a.geometry,b.geometry,'
mask=inside querytype = window')='TRUE';
This took a long time to run and it came back with a series of errors, one of which was ORA--01555 'snapshot too old'. I was running other queries on the table (in a separate SQL window) because I'm under a deadline, so i figured that doing multiple things at one time while the spatial query was running was causing the problem. I didn't have time to run it again (it was the end of the day when the error came up, conveniently) so I am trying to work out a solution to this issue.
Would it be better if I: a) ran the statement again on the whole dataset and did nothing else while it is running, even though it will still take a while, or
b) broke it up into groups of 50,000 records and run the statement on one group at a time and hope for the best.
Thanks in advance!Assuming you have less municipal areas than roads, the query should perform better by specifying the join order:
CREATE TABLE TEMP AS (
SELECT /*+ ORDERED */ A.ID, B.AREA
FROM PLACES B, ROADS A
WHERE B.TYPE IN (33,35,36,37)
AND mdsys.sdo_relate (a.geometry, b.geometry,'mask=inside querytype = window') = 'TRUE');Also, are you sure 'inside' is the right mask to use here? What if a road intersects the edge of the municipality? In that case it wouldn't be returned by this query. -

How to assign values to server group when you parallelly client-copying
Hello all,
I'm now trying to create server group.
Currently, I use serial process, or default settings, when client-copying.
But I want to implement this in parallel processes.
Due to this, I have to create server group and assign a lot of values to something I don't know!
I want to create a server group, but don't know how to assign values to ones like "Max. requests in queue", "Max. no of logons" and so on.
Could you please advise me how to allocate values to the resourses shown below;
Advanced : 1 *I think "1" is the flag for advanced settings
Max. requests in queue
Max. no. of logons
Max. disp. of own logon
Max. no. of WPs used: *should be the total of SM50, I guess
Min. no. of free WPs
Max. no. of comm. entries
Max. wait time
thanks in advance,
HozyHi,
Would you check this [Parallel Processes |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32/helpdata/EN/e8/df959834ac11d586f90000e82013e8/frameset.htm] and [Parallel processes FAQ|http://www.saptechies.com/ccinfo-parallel-processes-faq/] i hope will get some hint.

Assigning value to array type variable in a loop
Hi
I have a scenario in which i am assigning value from a array type variable(x) to the invoke variable of a database adapter. The variable x is exact replica of the invoke variable.
My copy operation in assign activity looks like this-
<copy>
<from variable="Var" part="InputParameters"
query="/ns7:InputParameters"/>
<to variable="Invoke_call_XXDPI_EDI_852_PKG_InputVariable"
part="InputParameters"
query="/ns7:InputParameters *(* bpws:getVariableData('iterator') *)* "/>
</copy>
It is inside a while loop activity.
PS *()* are square brackets
But it is erroring out at run time.
Does anybody has an alternate idea to assign value to an array type?.
i have seen that while extracting value from an array type variable it works fine
A similar kind of operation is shown below.
<copy>
<from variable="Var" part="InputParameters"
query="/ns7:InputParameters *(* bpws:getVariableData('iterator') *)* "/>
<to variable="Invoke_call_XXDPI_EDI_852_PKG_InputVariable"
part="InputParameters"
query="/ns7:InputParameters"/>
</copy>
Thanks
Ayush
Edited by: Ayush fujitsu on Aug 14, 2009 4:36 AMHi Ayush
I suppose you are getting some error like "source node returns multiple elements".
In second case there is no problem because you are assigning *InputParameters[bpws:getVariableData('iterator')]* (+suppose InputParameters[1]+) to target. Here it works fine because you are fetching oonly 1 value from source and assigning it to the target.
Now in first case you are saying copy InputParameters to target[1] suppose. You know that source is an array which contains multiple index so which index field from the source will be assigned to the target.
Try your process with only 1 source value it will work but when multiple values will be there it will fail. You have to merge both the cases and it will look like
*<copy>*
*<from variable="Var" part="InputParameters"*
query="/ns7:InputParameters ( bpws:getVariableData('iterator') ) "/>
*<to variable="Invoke_call_XXDPI_EDI_852_PKG_InputVariable"*
part="InputParameters"
query="/ns7:InputParameters ( bpws:getVariableData('iterator') ) "/>
*</copy>*
And the easiest way to do this is by the transform activity as said above.

In the above program, Can we assign V_num with a value 10????????Yes; the example you posted does that.
When the loop starts, the value 10 is assigned to v_num. You should see that value displayed by the put_line statement.
After that, v_num is set to 10 - 1 = 9.
Next, the EXIT condition is evaluated. At this point, v_num is 9, not 0, so the loop runs again. V_num is set to 10 again, and the loop continues forever (or, in some versions, until the dbms_output buffer is filled and an error occurs.) -

Assigning Value To An Application Item via JS

Scope of JavaScript is the HTML DOM in the browser. The Application Items do not exist in the HTML DOM, only in the session state.
This explains what you observer. To set the App Items using JS you have to use an AJAX call to an OnDemand Application Process that sets the Application Item using PL/SQL. Or, call a procedure over http and set the App Item in that procedure after setting the Workspace / Security Group Id.

Assigning value to field in proxy report
Hello,
I am writing the abap report for sproxy.
The link to the field in structure is very long.
e.g. it-fault_message_mt-request-calldata-requester-gid = 'Z12345'.
In the structure one field in calldata is ADDITIONAL_ATTRIBUTE which is of table type.
I want to assign values to the fields of ADDITIONAL_ATTRIBUTE.
When I click on field ADDITIONAL_ATTRIBUTE we can see line type ZFAULT_MESSAGE_ADDITIONAL_ATTR and this line type is having NAME as on of the field.
I want to pass value to field NAME.
Regards,
NeelambariHi,
Create a work area as line type. and loop at table type into work area.
*wa like line type
*loop at table_type into wa.
*wa-name = Value.
*append wa to target table type.
****target table type structure should be same as that of source table type. *****

Dim UDF2 As SAPbouiCOM.EditText = frmUDF.Items.Item("U_UDF2").Specific

Is there something worng with my code?

Assigning Value to Variable in Sapscript
Hi,
To initialized value of the variable when I tried to assign 0 to variable (like in the following statement) it comes up with error 'Command Expected'.
&RF140-ZALBT&= '0'.
Please let me know where and what I am doing wrong in assigning value to a variable?
Regards,
ShabbarHi,
Still its not working. The statement I am writing is
/: &NET& = &RF140-WRSHB& - &RF140-MSATZ&
but the system gives error on that.
NET is the local variable declared with Define statement and both the others are defined in print program.
Even I tried
/: &RF140-ZALBT& = &RF140-WRSHB& - &RF140-MSATZ&
but still the same error.
Any comments?

Assigning value to a variable.
i have one doubt.
we can assign value to a variable either in declaration section or in exectuion section.
so please explain when and wherer should we assign value to a variable.
thank you very much.I think the best way to look at it is...
If you don't want your variable(s) to have default values that are NULL, assign a value in the declaration section, otherwise assign it where you feel like.
If you take an example of:
declare
v_sum number := 0; -- default variable to 0
cursor cur_test is
begin
for i in cur_test
loop
v_sum := 0; -- set variable to 0 before the loop
loop
exit when .. some condition ..
v_sum := v_sum + ..
end loop;
end loop;
end;
/.. we have a need to set the variable v_sum to 0 before each iteration of the internal loop, so there's little point in having it defaulted to 0 in the declaration section, hence I wouldn't typically default it there and would typically have the code as..
declare
v_sum number; -- no point in defaulting it
cursor cur_test is
begin
for i in cur_test
loop
v_sum := 0; -- set variable to 0 before the loop
loop
exit when .. some condition ..
v_sum := v_sum + ..
end loop;
end loop;
end;
/It all depends on what you're doing and what seems the most logical or preferred option.
Defaulting values in the declaration section can let you see clearly what the starting values are for things, but only if you really need to do it. -
Assigning value to a variable in Script Component.
I'm pretty new to SSIS development and need to figure out a problem with assigning a value to a user defined variable. I created a pretty simple package. It reads a flat file, extracts date from a header record and subsequently uses derived column component
to reformat data to the desired output format. One of the columns (FileRunDate,
string, length 8) in the derived component is defined as a string and in the expression I'm assigning it to a variable I set earlier in the script component -
@[User::vRunTimeDate]. When the process runs, the output file gets generated, however FileRunDate reflects
originally set varible's value. It seems that the variable assignment in the script task does not work, even though in the debug mode, I do see how the value is being set. The variable has an attribute of ReadWrite. Is it due to the fact that the value is
being set in the same workflow?
Any feedback is greatly appriciated.Unfortunately I'm unable to add a screenshot of the process, for some reason I get an error message when I try to do that. In a nutshell the entire workflow consist of flat file source component, following by a script component (this is where I read and
assign the variable)
public override void PostExecute()
IDTSVariables100 vars;
base.PostExecute();
// Set run date
if (strRunDate != null)
VariableDispenser variableDispenser = (VariableDispenser)this.VariableDispenser;
variableDispenser.LockForWrite("User::vRunTimeDate");
variableDispenser.GetVariables(out vars);
// Set the variable
vars["User::vRunTimeDate"].Value = strRunDate;
//Unlock the variable
vars.Unlock();
//Variables.vRunTimeDate = strRunDate;
then goes conditional split ( filtering out unwanted records), which is connected to a derived column component (this is where one of the columns get assigned a variable's value), one more script component (this where I identify
specific data element and do a replace command) and finally flat file destination.
BTW, the article in the provided URL clearly states that variable won't reflect assigned value till the entire workflow has finished. If that's the case, then I think I know my
answer. Is there is such a thing as putting execution of different steps in a different step, so anything executed subsequently will see that value? -
Error when assigning SID while uploading text in the info-object of the DSO
Hi
I have a scenario where I need to extract a char 60 field from R/3 in the DSO.
I have created the info-object which is char 60 which has the master data text activated.
In the DSO transformation I have mapped it to the R/3 field.
While activating the data in DSO its giving the error message
'Value '20 per action plan' (hex. '32302070657220616374696F6E20706C616E') of characteristic'
'Error when assigning SID: Action VAL_SID_CONVERT InfoObject ZRMSD '
How to overcome this issue.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.Change the InfoObject for this text so that it will allow lowercase letters. To do this, go into Change mode on the InfoObject, go to the General tab, check the Lowercase letters checkbox and activate the InfoObject. After this has been activated, you can then restart your process and this SID violation error should no longer be thrown for this.
If you don't want to do this, then you can use the TOUPPER formula in the Characteristic Routine, in the Transformation, to change the value of this field contents to uppercase. This can also be done by using an ABAP routine like this:
TRANSLATE column TO UPPER CASE.
