Struts-infoview file for Tomcat

I'm currently running XIR2SP3 on a Windows server, Tomcat 5.0.27. My Performance Mgmt link thru Infoview was working fine up until today when I received this error in the Tomcat logs:
Parse Error at line 2 column 16: Document root element "struts-config", must match DOCTYPE root "null".
I did a little research in the forumtopics and it seems i'm missing a !DOCTYPE parameter in the Struts-InfoView.xml file, but I'm not sure what the entire path should be. My other environments are behaving the same way so any help would be appreciated.

Also, when I add the following DOCTYPE to the .xml file:

I then receive this error:
Parse Error at line 985 column 17: The content of element type "struts-config" must match "(data-sources?,form-beans?,global-forwards?,action-mappings?)".
Could anyone send me what doctype path they have in their file, if you are running the same setup? I'm wondering if installing SP4 would correct this as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Is there any way to automate the creation of web.xml file , depending on the contents of the Servlet folder of the application. Any way to escape from writing each Servlet name in web.xml file.

Does anyone have a good server.xml file for tomcat?

I am trying to link apache and tomcat on a RedHat 9 computer. I previously posted a message stating that I could not get tomcat to "automagically" make the configuration files (mod_jk.conf-auto) that all the manuals promised it would. However, I found that my problem was the lack of an ApacheConfig tag in the server.xml file. After looking at my server.xml file, I found that it was much more simplistic than I would hoped = it did not have enough comments or commented out options. It had none of the directives that the manuals said it included by default.
In short, does anyone who has apache and tomcat linked have a server.xml file that I can look at so that I can figure out what I must add to mine to get tomcat working with apache? I would greatly appreciate it if you could copy and paste the whole thing here.

The above application runs only with JDK1.3.1_02 and not with any other version. This application is creating dynamic table using struts.

Struts-InfoView.xml file

I'm currently running XIR2SP3 on a Windows server, Tomcat 5.0.27. My Performance Mgmt link thru Infoview was working fine up until today when I received this error in the Tomcat logs:
Parse Error at line 2 column 16: Document root element "struts-config", must match DOCTYPE root "null".
I did a little research in the forumtopics and it seems i'm missing a !DOCTYPE parameter in the Struts-InfoView.xml file, but I'm not sure what the entire path should be. My other environments are behaving the same way so any help would be appreciated.

URGENT! Need help to portalize a Strut JSP App for Portal!

I have create a little application using Strut ADF. This application only have one page. Can someone tell me how to portalize this in order to deployed it in Portal. I have create my DataSource in OEM and the only thing left is to portalize this jsp.
I have read the "How to create a Struts Portlet" but I don't understand it.
Please help me deployed this app to Portal. Is there any tutorial about this?

Viewing Excel Files using Tomcat - Problem with caching

A small part of an application I'm writing has links to Excel files for users to view/download. I'm currently using Tomcat v5 as the web/app server and have some very simple code (an example is shown below) which calls the excel file.

This all works except but I'm having one big problem.
The xls file (file1.xls) is updated via a share on the server so each month, the xls file is overwritten with the same name but with different contents. I'm finding that when an update is made to the xls file and the user then attempts to view the new file in the browser they recieve only the old xls file. It's caching the xls file and I don't want it to. How can I fix this so that it automatically gives the user the new updated file.
The only way I've managed to get Tomcat to do this is to delete the work directory and delete the file from my IE temp folder and then restart Tomcat - this is a bit much!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd a problem with caching a few years back, for a servlet request which returned an SVG file.
As a workaround, I ended up putting appending "#" and a timestamp / random number after it. The browser assuming each request was new, and didn't use the cache.
Eg.
http://myserver/returnSVG.do#1234567
where 1234567 is a timestamp / random.
Not sure whether you can do this on a file based URL... but maybe worth a shot...

How to place a servlet file in Tomcat 5.0?

i'm using Apache Tomcat 5.0 as myweb server.i don't know how to set the class path and where to place my servlet and html files,and how to run my servlet file.if anybody knows plz give me a detailed description abt this topic.

Look at the directory structure of your Tomcat installation directory. You will see a webapps directory under that. The Tomcat installation comes with samples ready to run. Look at those and create a similar directory structure under webapps for your application. I don't think you need to worry about classpath. Tomcat should be taking care of all that if you create the proper directory structure.
You run your servlet by specifying a url like:
localhost:8080/servlets-examples/from a browser. This assumes that your installation is using port 8080 which I think is the norm for Tomcat. Here "servlets-examples" is the name of the directory you created. Actually Tomcat 5.0 comes with a "servlets-examples" application. This would be a good directory to look at. You could also run their examples to get a feel for it.
If you are new to servlets, you'll probably have to get a book that explains how things need to be set up. You'll need to create a web.xml for your application. If you look at the servlets-examples directory under webapps, you'll see that it has a WEB-INF directory under it and that directory contains a file called web.xml as well as a sub-directory called classes. This structure is standard accross all application servers because it corresponds to the war (wars are specialized types of jars for web apps) file standard.

An issue of deploying war file on tomcat 5.5

Hi,
I know the regular process to deply a war file is like this - stop tomcat server, remove your previous war file and directory, say abc.war and dir abc, copy your new version abc.war into webapps and restart tomcat server.
However, I found an interesting issue today - I was deploying a new release war file as described. While I stopped tomcat, removed all previous version direcotry, and restarted tomcat server, I got an http 404 error saying that the resource /abc/ is not available. I noticed that the org folder was not generated at work/Catalina/locahost/abc.
I stuck there for a long time to try to fix but did not find a solution. I am pretty sure the war file should be ok since it works fine on my local machine. This only happened in the unix box. Later, occasionally, I removed the director abc without stopping the tomcat server. In another word, I removed the war file while tomcat is still running. A new abc directory was created soon and now it works.
Anyone has any idea about that? Thanks!

Include an in-memory jar file for JSR-199 compilation

I want to compile a source file in memory, which requires a jar file that is also represented in memory. I used the JavaSourceFromString class recommended in the documentation for the class JavaCompiler and in a demo I found online that shows how to compile sources represented as String in memory. To represent the jar file, I used a similar trick to JavaSourceFromString:
