Struts Modeler
Struts Modeler in JDeveloper 10g keeps writing <html:link> tags (in jsp pages) each time I delete them. Is it possible to turn of modifying jsp files by the modeler (without disabling the modeler)?
Thanks,
Anna
Can you give me an idea as to how many actions / forwards you have in the diagram.
We've tested the Production version of 10g with something in the region of 900 actions and 3000 forwards.
There is no way of switching off the validation at the moment, however.

Sharing the Struts model layer as web service ?
Hi
I am currently trying to work out how to best share the model layer on a Struts application, so that this layer is also accessible from ie. a Swing based application.
I was thinking about using Web services in JDeveloper to do this, but it seemes that I need to deploy the web service as a seperate "application" and thus duplicate the whole model layer (because it is no longer accessible for the web service), one for the Struts application and one for the web service.
My Struts app is based on the DAO framework, there is no EJB layer.
Does anyone have any tips, links or any information on how to "publish" some of the bussiness layer of a Struts application for usage on external clients using other technologies like SWING?
Are there other methods to do this using JDeveloper?
I'd rather not have both the Struts and the Swing to call an external webservice, just to expose some of the funtionality from Struts to other clients.
RegardsHi ADF seemes to be a framework for creating common "front ends" that both web and swing can use.
- If I understood it correctly that is.
This is really not what I am looking for, the SWING based applications use their own frameworks (they are in production), the same is also true for the other web sollutions that one likes to talk to our sollution.
We need to expose the bussiness logic part of our system, not have a common "front end" for the various applications.

Struts Flow Modeler getting slow.
I'm trying to evaluate jdeveloper 10g and try to migrate my current small application to jdeveloper 10g environment. When I try to open the struts modeler (designer view), it is very slow. It happened after I added a lot of component/objects. (eg. Action + jsp pages). Everytime when i click on the designer view, I have to wait like few seconds, then only it shows up the designer. Although I'm inside the designer, when i try to scroll it up and down, I still get the slow response of the struts designer. Message below shown that it was trying to validate the struts-config.xml. Is there a way that i can turn off the validation on the struts-config.xml by default? Or is this a bug?
Can you give me an idea as to how many actions / forwards you have in the diagram.
We've tested the Production version of 10g with something in the region of 900 actions and 3000 forwards.

Voluntary change of struts-config.xml
Why does JDev 10g change struts-config.xml file without programmer being aware of it?? It's the dumbest thing I have ever seen
I have this very same issue and agree that it is some of the oddest ide behavior possible. For instance, we use a struts forward, <forward name="success" path="/binaryFile"/>, of binaryFile to a servlet to display a dynamically created pdf in a browser. Sometimes, and I am not sure why, JDeveloper will modify struts-config.xml such that it will remove the binaryFile forwards, which results in complete application mis-configuration. Or, and this one is my least favorite, JDeveloper will edit the binaryFile forward by attaching .jsp to binaryFile such that it looks like this, <forward name="success" path="/binaryFile.jsp"/>, again causing application mis-configuration. My only guess is that JDeveloper does not see an extension like .do or .jsp and thinks it is doing the right thing by updating it for you. Has this been resolved in the latest version of JDeveloper?
Here is my JDev version,

JDeveloper 10g and Struts Page Flow
Hello,
First of all, I'd like to congratulate JDev Team for providing us with this amazing new tool.
I am evaluating JDeveloper 10g and its Struts/Tiles integration, since we are now selecting the IDE to be used by our company in its projects.
I noted the following: In Struts Page Flow, the component pallete does not have a component do represent a Tiles definition.
I'd like to know if there are plans to include such a component, considering that this is crucial to our projects.
If not, could you please provide us with directions to do so ?
I am looking forward to your reply.
Thanks a lot !

Unisys Global OutsourcingJuarez,
You are quite correct that the visual Struts modeling does not support tiles yet. Rest assured that it's on the list of features we're working on.
What that means is that you're not going to visualise the links / submits from the tiles themselves.
However, the tiles taglib is available in the visual JSP editor so you should have no problem creating tiles content.
Likewise you can create the relevant plug-in entries for tiles by right clicking on the Struts Config node in the Structure Pane (when the struts-config or the diagram is selected) and from the new menu you'll see plug-in.
The final option is of course to edit the XML directy should you want to. -
Can't drop database table objects on a EJB Diagram.
JDeveloper 10.1.3 EA.
When I drop a database table object on a EJB Diagram the error below occurs. Also dropping components from the Component Palette doesn't work. A wizard opens, but after completing that, nothing is on the EJB Diagram.
However, after dropping a table and a restart of JDeveloper, there is an empty 'tablename EJB' on the EJB Diagram, but a click with the mouse on it generates the same error as the drop did.
Simular errors occur with JDeveloper 10.1.2, so writing this I realize that this might be a database version problem. I'm using 9i! I'll try 10g and see what happens.

Exceptions thrown while importing tables from SQL Server 2000
Hi all,
<MyProblem:
I cannot import the tables defined in my local SQL Server. An exception is thrown --oracle.jdeveloper.cm.ds.db.ValidationException: Columns of type varchar cannot have a size specified.
/>
<What I have done:
In Oracle JDev 10g, Created a new DB connection called "SQLServerConnection" to connect to the SQL Server and it works fine. I am able to see all tables by expanding the connection.
During the creation of a new partner link named "DBAdapter", I use the adapter wizard to select DB Adapter and then select the "SQLServerConnection" DB connection I have created. I select Perform an Operation on a Table and then check Select. After I pressed OK button on the[i] Import Tables dialog, a Error messege box emmerged indicating the Exception: Columns of type varchar cannot have a size specified.
I try to change the data type of the columns of the tables to char, there is still similar exception (Columns of type char cannot have a size specified).
/>
I got the stack trace from the prompt by using jdev.exe.

I've downloaded the Perforce plugin, and try to connect to the Perforce server here. When I click Versioning > Connect to Perforce... first it takes a long time for the dialog box to open, next I fill in:
- username
- password
- leave remember password unchecked
- port
- client
But neither the "Test Connection" button, or "OK" button is enabled. I've tried this combination of entering data into the dialog fields, and many other combinations (leave password blank, etc...) No combination enables these two buttons. This leaves me unable to connect to Perforce! Please help....

If the port is picked up correctly the client dropdown should be populated and the OK button enabled. This works for me.
The same should work from the gui though, I'll investigate and see if there is a bug logged.

How to edit breadcrumb properties like " " symbol in JDeveloper.
Hi, the problem is that I can not edit certain properties breadcrumb, like spaces or ">" symbol. I have change the css style to my own style. When I use oracle style it's work.
For example.
1) Html generated with oracle style.
P1 > P2
2) Html generated with my own css.
P1P2
As can you see, the line " > " have dissapear. Are there some template or file to define this line?, what I need to do to place this line?.
I 'm lost.
Thank you.

Binding Editors not present in ADF UIX
Hi
I have been having some trouble with accessing both the Boolean Binding Editor and the LOV Editor from the structure window, when in design mode of an ADF UIX page.
My bindings are present, but when I 'Edit' the binding, the only option available to me is to select the Iterator and the attribute.
The documentation keeps telling me to select different tabs, but there aren't any!
Anyone had this problem????

Christhe primaryclient action should pass the rowkey of the current row (${uix.current.rowKeyStr}) as a parameter. This way the server can find the corresponding row on the server in an event handler.

Hello,
I have several java files that I usually right click on to create J2EE web services. Today I cannot create web services for any of the files, as I receive a nullpointer exception. I checked that all classes in the project compile. Specifically, I have a [main] method in the PatientWS file for which I wish to create a web service, and the class runs just fine. Based on another post, it seems the problem is with web.xml. I have deleted web.xml and it continues to get re-created so maybe it is not it. Any help will be appreciated. Please let me know if there is any other information that I need to provide.
