Stuck in BPM Transformation process Async to Sync Scenario

Hi there im building up a   R/3 ---> Idoc PI -
>Soap  3rd Party   Async/Sync Scenario,
on the integration process window i drag a transformation box to change my input idoc to the structure the Webservice needs, but i cant import it, i tried to make a new one using the abstract interfaces im using but it tells me i cant transform an Async Interface ( Idoc ) to an Sync Interface ( Webservice ), any sugestions?, i can provide everything i have done up to date regarding interfaces mappings and stuff if needed, thx!!!,
Roberto.

but it tells me i cant transform an Async Interface ( Idoc ) to an Sync Interface ( Webservice ), any sugestions
You cannot perform a mapping between an Async MI and a Sync MI....not only for a BPM but even in general
Your BPM should have below steps:
Receive(IDOC)-> Transformation(IDOC_to_SOAPReq...both Async)-> SyncSend(SOAPReq and SOAPResp Messages)
You need below Container elements in your BPM:
1 for receiving the IDOC
1 for the SOAPReq message
1 for the SOAPResp message
You cannot have a Container element for Sync Interface.....you include the ABS Sync MI directly in the SyncSend step and then will get Request and Response fields (automatically)....here specify the SOAPReq and SOAPResp Container elements.......
Your Interface Mapping will be between MI_IDOC_ABS and MI_SOAPReq_ABS......and then you can inlcude this in the Transformation step
Just a question to ask....what are you going to do once you receive the SOAPResp message?

Abhishek.

• ASYNC to SYNC scenario using BPM.

hi,
i have a async to sync scenario. i have a File sender->PI(BPM)->ECC and the response from ECC->PI->SOAP.
Here in PI, i am using BPM. The ECC side is a Synchronous BAPI. The response is sent to the SOAP receiver.
in BPM, can someone tell me how many transformation steps do i need i.e mappings. and how many abstract interfaces, synchronous interfaces, outbound interfaces, inbound interfaces?
also how many send, receive and transformation steps.
and in the configuration part,
how many receiver determinations, interface determinations do we need.

• Can you explain steps in the Async and Sync scenarios JDBC to RFC.

Hi,
Can you explain some basic steps in the Async and Sync scenarios for sending data from JDBC to RFC.
Like,
The data is picked up from the  database table through JDBC adapter.
It is passed on to SAP  by calling the RFC. RFC gets executed
successfully. The status is returned by the RFC. The status needs to be
updated back into the SQL database table.
Is this a sync case or async case.
What si the diffrences in the sync and async scenarios in the above JDBC to RFC scenarios.

• IDOC to Webservice to Email - Async to Sync Scenario

Dear Experts,
I have a scenario: IDOC to Webservice (Async to Sync)
The response from the webservice needs to be sent via email. So I have a Email channel added to the Business service (ECC).
I tried this with BPM, but it does not work complaining about multiple receivers in a sync receiver interface.
Anyone has done similar to the above?
1. Using BPM?
2. Without BPM?
Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. This is what I have:
Repository:
1. Async ABS Interface for webservice request message
2. Sync ABS interface with webservice request message and response message
3. Async ABS interface for the reposnse message
5. Async IB interface for hte email message
4. Message mapping between IDOC and webservice request message
5. Message mapping between webservice response message and email message
6. 2 Interface mappings with the above mapping objects
7. Integration Process BPM with Receive step (Async w/s req), Sync send step (w/s req and respp) and Async send step (w/s response)
Directory:
1. Receiver agreement with BPM as sender and Webservice as receiver with SOAP receiver channel
2. Receiver agreement with BPM as sender and ECC as receiver with email receiver adapter
3. Interface determination for request mapping
4. Interface detrmination for response mapping
5. Receiver determination with ECC as sender and BPM as receiver
6. Receiver determaination with BPM as sender and Webservice as receiver
7. Receiver determination with Webservice as sender and ECC as receiver
is the above sufficient and right?
Thank you.

• Async to Sync Scenario

Hi Experts,
I am doing async JDBC to sync webservice scenario.
I did create async interface for JDBC and sync interface for webservice.
my scenario is i just want to see the response from webservice in XI for trouble shoot, i dont need to send the response message to database.
can anyone tell me how can we do it without using BPM (async to sync bridge).
Kind Regards,
kiran

Hi
Please go through below steps now
I have added the comments with same in bold font
Data Types: JDBC_DT,File_DT
Message Types: JDBC_MT,File_MT
Message Interfaces:
JDBC_OUT_MI(outbound,async),This should be Sync given MT_File as respo
File_MI(inbound,async), Dont use this
WS_IN_MI(inbound,sync,input=WS_req,output=WS_resp)
WS_resp_MI(outbound,async,WS_resp), -----No need of this
Message Mappings:
JDBC_WS_req_MM
(JDBC_OUT(JDBC_MT)------->WS_IN_MI(WS_req) ).
*Here WS_IN_MM msg. mapping should be used insted of*
*WS_IN_MI i.e message interface*
*WS_File_Res_MM*
(WS_Res(Source -- Ws_res) ---> File_MT)
Interface Mapping: JDBC_WS_req_IM(source=JDBC_OUT_MI,target=WS_IN_MI)
In IM you need to use the above one only
Here you have two tabs as Request & Response, Request will be normal as
it is JDBC_MT to WS_Req with proper mapping
*In Response use File_MT <--- Ws_RES with appropriate mapping *
For ID configuration refer below sample scenario,
It is File1 to RFC to File2- Just in your scenario it is JDBC>WS--->File2
So refer and do necessary changes
From SP 19 on XI 3.0 and SP 10 on PI 7.0, a File - RFC - File ( Asynch - Synch ) scenario can be done without a BPM.
Steps:
Integration Repository
The Integration Repository will be similar to any Synchronous Scenario ( say HTTP - RFC ) . 1 Outbound Synch message Interface and 1 Inbound Synch Message Interface.
Integration Directory
This is where a few differences lie, so let me take some time.
1. The Receiver Determination , Interface Determination will be the same as in HTTP - RFC synch scenario. Create the Sender File Adapter, Receiver RFC Adapter and Receiver File Adapter.
2. Sender Agreement will be for the Sender File Adapter. Sender Agreement uses the Synch Outbound Message Interface.
3. Receiver Agreement will be for the Receiver RFC adapter. Receievr Agreement will use the RFC as thge Inbound Message Interface.
4. We need to add a few modules in the Sender File Adapter.
Go to the Modules Tab of the Sender File Adater, and add the following modules in the same sequence,
Number - ModuleName - Type - ModuleKey
code1- AF_Modules/RequestResponseBean - Local Enterprise Bean - 1
2- CallSapAdapter-Local Enterprise Bean - 2
3-AF_Modules/ResponseOnewayBean-3
Parameters
ModuleKey - ParameterName - ParameterValue
code1 - passThrough - true
3-receiverChannel - Receiver File Adapter Name
3-receiverService - Receiver Business Service/ System
With this configuration, you can now handle the requirement without a BPM
This feature been already blogged for JMS Adapters in these blogs ,

• Async to Sync Scenario Issue

Hi ALL,
My Scenario is Sender Idoc and Receiver is SOAP (Webservices).my sender is Async but my receiver is Sync system ..My Receiver SOAP system is sending a Response acknowledgment..which i dont want to in my sender..
Every time i trigger message i am getting an acknowledgment ,, since i haven't handled that acknowledgment the scenario is going to Error ..
Suggest wht i can do in this case.
how can i handle this Ack do i need to use the Sync ,,,Aync bridge.. ?
Regards
Shakif

Hi,
You can define an async, inbound Message interface for the Receiver web service with only request message type since you dont want any response back.
Your sender IDOC system might be requesting acknowledgements. To stop this run IDX_NOALE report in XI system according to your requirement. You can check the following doc :
[https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/903a0abc-e56e-2910-51a8-9dc616df56eb|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/903a0abc-e56e-2910-51a8-9dc616df56eb]

• Doc on Async and Sync using BPM

Hi all
Can anyone send some docs explaining the steps involved in bridging async and sync interface using BPM. The source adapter is JDBC and target is proxy. I've already checked one blog by krishna moorthy (File-File using BPM) and based on that i tried but coudnt get the expected result for my scenario.

• BPM - problem with async/sync

Hi,
I have created one BPM async/sync with properties below.
RFC (async) -> BAPI(sync) -> JDBC(async)
My RFC start the process, (next step) BPM execute BAPI and response one list of companies, in next step, JDBC insert or update the companies in SQL Server.
RFC
ZPI_SYNC_DATABASE
BAPI
ZSD_GET_COMPANY - the bapi only have EXPORTING in your definition.
JDBC
MI_EAI_SD_COMPANY.
When i execute the process, not occurs errors, but in BPE Message appears the GREEN FLAG (in outbound status) with hit "Message scheduled on outbound side", sometime appears in Status one GREEN FLAG with hit "Scheduled".
If i delete Receive of BAP (step), the BPM execute full, and not occurs the problem above.
Then i think the problem is in BAPI(step), but i dont know what can to do.
Can everyone help me?

Yeap,
Is "New Transaction" checked in Send BAPI and Send JDBC, but the problem still occur.
See you other example:
I have createad one new scenario.
IDOC -> JDBC
IDOC
ZCLIENTE.ZCLIENTE01 interface.
JDBC
MI_EAI_SD_JDBC
MAPPING between IDOC and JDBC
Senders and Receivers configured;
I execute IDOC and one pass for mapping, no problem.
But the not launch JDBC Adapter.
I see in Message Monitoring and there arent errors, but hava one GREEN FLAG in STATUS with hit "scheduled"
The same error but now without BPM.

• How to change async to sync after deploying the process.? Thanks

How to change async to sync after deploying the process.? Thanks

you'd need to change the base wsdl, the generated one (_Name.wsdl) and the bpel.file .. and remove the generated classes .. (all in domains/you_domain/tmp/your_process dir)
the wsdl needs to get the output msg to the input msg instead of a callback porttype, the same needs to be in the generated wsdl (don't forget to remove the callback role in plnk session).. and the bpel process needs to have a reply instead of the invoke ..
this is what you would need to do .. BUT, maybe we can find a better solution for you, if you elaborate on the usecase..
during design time this is easier :-)

• BPM for Processing Multiple records in a file

Hello All:
I using BPM to process Goods issue using BAPI BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE. The BPM setps are as
Step 1  Receive Request from Asyn File Interface
Step 2  Transformation Map to Bapi request Structure
Step 3  Send Sync Request to Bapi
Step 4  Transformation Map Bapi Response to file
Step 5  Send Asyn Message to File
My input file  is as fallows
H,20050613,20050613,9999,HEAD TXT,03,
P,000001000108,0001,COMMON,2,EA,1000,1011,261,ITM TXT,
H,20050613,20050613,9999,HEAD TXT,03,
P,000001000108,0001,COMMON,3,EA,1000,1011,261,ITM TXT,
The output file is as fallows
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <ns1:MT_SAP_RESPONSE_ITMS_DATA xmlns:ns1="http://testcompany.com/xi/ITMS">
- <BAPI_STR>
- <HEADER>
      <MAT_DOC>4900000696</MAT_DOC>
      </HEADER>
      </BAPI_STR>
      </ns1:MT_SAP_RESPONSE_ITMS_DATA>
The problem I am facing is although my file has 2 records of goods issue data (Header and Item data) , the BPM processes only one record (Header and Item) and creates a material doc in SAP and outputs a file with the material doc number as above. Ideally I would like the XI system to process both the records and produce 2 material docs as output .
Also my input file adapter has been picking up both the records as this is visible in the SXMB_MONITOR logs.
Do I need to introduce a loop in the BPM ?. If so can any can any body give me an example or point me in the right direction.
Many Thanks
TBH

Udo:
<b>you need a mapping splitting one message with multiple entries into multiple messages with one entry, which you put into a multiple line BPM container.</b>
Are you implying loop Step 1 Receive Request from Asyn File Interface and collect them into a multiline container ?. How does the loop know how many times to loop.
Would appreciate your comments

• Regarding BPM Syncronus process

Hello,
If suppose i want to design the syncronus process thru BPM.Then how can i design the Integration process steps for this scenario.
Is it possible to receive the response from reciever to sender by means of same BPM which already configured.
Thank you

Hi Ravi,
Defining Sync/Async Communication
Use
To enable the communication between a synchronously calling business system (synchronous outbound interface) and an asynchronously called business system (asynchronous inbound and outbound interface), you can define a sync/async bridge in an integration process. You can only define one sync/async bridge for each integration process.
You can also achieve sync/async communication by using the JMS adapter. If you do not have any particular demand for monitoring or for troubleshooting, SAP recommends that you use sync/async communication in the JMS adapter instead. The advantage of using the JMS adapter over synch/async communication using an integration process is a significant increase in system performance.
See: Async/Sync and Sync/Async Bridge in JMS Adapter
Structure of a Sync/Async Bridge
The following table outlines the minimum components of a sync/async bridge:
Step
Use
Receive step to open the sync/async bridge
Receives the message request from the synchronously calling business system and opens the sync/async bridge
Asynchronous send step
Sends the received message asynchronously to the asynchronously called business system
Receive step
Receives the message from the asynchronously called business system
Send step to close the sync/async bridge
Sends, for example, the response from the asynchronously called business system to the synchronously calling business system
Performance Considerations
If you insert additional steps in the sync/async bridge, the synchronous time is increased correspondingly. If the time that elapses before the sync/async bridge is closed is too long, this can lead to problems.
Fault Messages
It is currently not possible to send fault messages back to the synchronously calling business system. If you want to return error statuses to the synchronously calling business system, you can define a field for an error indicator in the message that is sent to the synchronous interface.
Procedure
Define a Receive Step to Open the Sync/Async Bridge
1. Insert the receive step to open the sync/async bridge in the integration process.
You can do this at the following points:
○ Directly after the start marker
○ As the first step in a block if the block is the first step of the integration process and if it has the mode Standard
○ As the first step in a fork. If the fork already contains some starting receive steps, the Start Process indicator is automatically reset for these steps.
2. In the object area, define the container element that receives the synchronously sent message.
Specify an asynchronous, abstract interface in the container element. The message must correspond to the request message of the synchronous interface used to receive the message.
3. Select this container element in the Message field in the properties area of the receive step.
4. In the Mode field, select Open S/A Bridge.
5. Select the Start Process field.
The receive step to open the sync/async bridge must start the integration process. There must be no other receive steps to start the integration process.
6. Specify the synchronous interface for receiving the message from the synchronously calling business system. The message type of the message to be received and the request message from the synchronous interface must be identical.
Define an Asynchronous Send Step
7. Insert a send step that sends the received message asynchronously to the asynchronously called business system.
See also: Sending Messages from Integration Processes Asynchronously
Define a Receive Step
8. Insert a receive step that receives the message from the asynchronously called business system.
Define a Send Step to Close the Sync/Async Bridge
9. Insert the send step at the required position in the process definition.
Do not insert the send step in a loop, block, or fork.
10. In the Mode field, select Close S/A Bridge.
The integration process must not contain any further send steps to close a sync/async bridge.
11. In the Opened By field, specify the receive step that opened the sync/async bridge.
12. In the message field, specify the message that is sent to the synchronous interface.
This message must be of the same type as the response message from the synchronous interface that you specified in the opening receive step.
Example
You can find an example of a sync/async bridge in the Integration Repository under SAP Basis à SAP Basis 6.40, namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns under BpmPatternSyncAsyncBridge.
For a description of the example, see Example: Sync/Async Communication.
BPM is an additional advantage of Netweaver XI. it provides features like Sync-Async Bridge, Async-Sync Bridge, stateful msgt processing.....so on.
Sync-Async Bridge acts as a bridge between a synchronous Business system and Asynchronous business system.
forex: if u r communicating with a synchronous RFC to a File system(always asynchronous, which is not able to send any response to synchronous RFC Interface).
In this kind of scenarios BPM Sync-Async Bridge enables communication between a Synchronous RFC to Asynchronous File system or vice versa..
Sync/async communication enables a synchronous sender system to communicate with a receiver system that cannot process synchronous messages

• How to implement Sync-Sync scenario in BPM? Please help!

Hi Experts,
I have a Sync-Sync scenario (SOAP - RFC) where both sender as well as receiver are synchronous.
I have created outbound sender sync interface, abstract sender sync interface, Receiver abstract sync interface and Receiver inbound sync interface.
In BPM I have started with Receive step.
But in receive step I can give either Async Abstract interface or Open Sync-Async bridge. I am confused!
How to implement my scenario in BPM?
It will be really great if somebody can send me the step by step info or doc.

• BPM Start Process

We have scenario(file to file) where we get multiple files and is merged using BPM, transformed and sent to the receiver. We have file This is a time based collection. Incoming file adapter is set to poll every 30 sec, and the block in BPM timeout in 2 mins ( for testing purpose).
The BPM receive step (inside the loop) has the start process turned on. The expected behaviour was to receive all files in one instance of BPM and send the merged one out.
It is spawning the multiple BPM instance based on number of files in the sender file adapter. My guess is it is doing this since we have the start process on receive step and for each receive it is starting a new process. How do we eliminate this to have only one instance start as I am not finding any other step prior to receive ( block , and loop) where I can start the process.
Any help is appericiated.
Thanks,

1. If you want to merge the same file format , Use "Loop" step before "Recevie" step. Put some deadline branch , which will ensure your time limit.
This would resolve your problem.
2. If you want to merge different file format , you need to have multiple "Receive" steps and for that you need to use the "Fork" step.
Let me know if you still find any problem.

• BPM Integration Process that correlates 2 messages.

I have an BPM Integration Process defined that collects Deliveries for an Order number and when an Invoice arrives for the same Order number it merges the messages to produce another file that is for a 3rd party.
I correctly receive in the Delivery and the Invoice u2013 I can see them in SXMB_MONI with a checkered flag and they are directed to my BPM.  I can see this also in SXMB_MONI_BPE.  I can also see the correlation correctly found in both messages.  No error is reported by either SXBM.. transaction.
However it does nothing except receive the files u2013 I am expecting a transformation and then the send step to execute.
Start >  CollectIDOCBlock  > Collect Fork
Fork1
Infinite Loop for Receive Delivery (Start process) and Collect in Container. It uses and activates Correlation OrderNum
Fork2
Receive Invoice uses Correlation OrderNum (it does not activate the correlation)
At the end of the Fork (when Delivery collected and an Invoice is received)
It will then do the Transformation and Send Step.
<End
I have tried various combinations of the correlations and which receive step starts the process.  Any ideas ?

Yes that did work.  Now does somebody know what exactly the FORK parameter number of branches does ?
The SAPHelp is here
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/08/16163ff8519a06e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
+You can specify the required number of branches and then define whether the process must run through all branches, or just a particular number of branches+
But it does not explain why you need to have 1 as necessary branches rather than 2.  There are 2 branches in the FORK - so why does having 1 as the parameter work and not 2.
In this SAPHelp for Message-Dependent Loop
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/08/16163ff8519a06e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
it indicates to me that the parameter should be 2.
BUT the SAP pattern (BpmPatternCollectMessage) I have used as a base for mine has this as 1 and not 2.
Why is 1 the correct value and not 2 ??
