Stuck lock button

I think the lock button on my 2nd generation iPod touch may be stuck. My iPod will no longer turn on or charge. The lock button is difficult to push down because it appears to be stuck in the device. Is my iPod past the point of no return or is there a way to fix it?

I bought my iPod touch 3 months ago refurbished on eBay. It was in my purse all day and when I took it out, the lock button was stuck. How do I fix it? Will it cost money to get it repaired?

Stuck depressed? If so try pressing it a little more and see if you can stick something around the switched hole since something from your purse might be stuck there.
You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. They might be able to help.

  • Stuck lock button on iPhone 4s, Stuck lock button on iPhone 4s

My lock button on top of phone is stuck down slightly still works but have to push it harder. How do I fix it ?

    Hello Jsdima9113,
The steps below can help resolve issues with a non-functional sleep/wake button on your iPhone.
Sleep/Wake button won't lock or unlock iPhone
To lock the phone, press the Sleep/Wake button. Note: By default, if you don't touch the screen for a minute, iPhone locks automatically.
To unlock iPhone, press the Home button or the Sleep/Wake button, then slide the slider.
If either of the above steps don't work, try turning iPhone off and then on again.
If the iPhone will not power off, reset it.
Try to lock or unlock the phone.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode and my lock button is broken what do I do

My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode and my lock button is broken what do I do?

What happens when you connect to computer and restore via iTunes?
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod is dead, and it will not charge. Also, my lock button is stuck. What should I do to fix it?

Earlier today, my iPod touch lock button got stuck. That wasn't a problem. Now, it wont charge. I just tired to reset it, and it went off. But now, I can't even turn it back on. What should I do??!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of these:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer

  • My iPod touch 4th gen is stuck in recovery mode with a broken 'lock' button.

My iPod touch 4th generation is stuck in recovery mode with a black screen and I can't get it out. It has a broken lock button and I have tried everything to get it out of recovery mode. Every time I plug it into iTunes, it recognises my iPod and says 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used in iTunes, so I have restored it several times and every time, it says there is an unknown error. Please Help!! (my iPod is IOS 6.0.1)

What is the complete wording of the error message that says unknown error? Usually more information like a error number is also given.

You will need to pay to have it replaced. Check with third-party repair depots. It's cheaper than Apple. In the mean time, here is a workaround to get it to work.

Please help me!!! The lock button on top of my Iphone 4 is pushed down completely and is stuck! And then yesterday I looked down and my iphone was completely black. It would not turn on seeing as how I could not push the top button to reset it to turn back on and then also it would not respond to a charge. Okay, so I went to turn my iPod on and found my lock button was stuck down into the housing of the iPod, I cannot get it out and cannot turn my iPod on. Should I just buy a new iPod or is there a way of repairing it?

  • My lock button on my iPhone 4 is stuck. What do I do now?

I was just sitting in the car texting and went to lock my phone, and it was extremely hard to press the lock button. Well I ignored it, got another text, and went to lock my phone again and this time it wouldn't lock. I've never had any lock button problems with this phone, and neither did my mom who owned it first. I didn't drop it or anything. It just seems stuck as if i could pull it out and it would keep working. I don't want to make the problem worse, so now what do I do?

If the physical button will not go down then more than likely there is some foreign debris under it.  I might try some compressed air to attempt to free it, otherwise if you don't want to void your warranty it has to goto an apple store.

  • My lock button is stuck and when I push it it won't lock. Should I bring it to the apple store?

Yeah so my lock button is stuck inside the iPod and I can't get it out. It doesn't lock my iPod but if I try to push it nothing happens. Should I bring it to the apple store by my house??

You can't backup the iPod then.
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and restore via iTunes:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If data is not in the backup then:
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
    - Maybe you can get some info from the restored iPod via How to perform iPad recovery for photos, videos

  • So just today I was going to check the time on my iPod Touch 4th Gen, and I noticed that the lock button was not functioning, on closer inspection, it appeared as it had just gotten stuck in the pushed position.

This afternoon I was doing things and needed to check the time, I pressed the lock button so it would show the time, but the button would not press. I looked closly and saw the button was stuck as if it was pushed and didn't come back out. I CANNOT lock my iPod using the button.

  • Nokia Lumia Lock Button stuck

Hi guys. I'm a proud owner of a Nokia Lumia 1020 and to be honest this phone rocks.
Few days ago I've accidently dropped it in water. It took me a couple of seconds ti put it out and immediately started to shake it to remove the water from the inside. The phone was working well continuously only the power/lock button was acting strange. It wasn't responsive at all. When I've tried to power it off it didn't let me. It stayed powered on. For precautions I've disassembled the screen and put it along the body of the phone in a sealed box of rise. My mistake was that I didn't disconnect the battery. It was turned on all the time.
It stayed some 20h like that. After that I've reassembled it again and for my luck it was working like a charm. Everything except the power/lock button. What I realized was that the button is stuck in active state. Physically is ok. When I press it it's working great but it is always active. I've noticed this when I tried to lock and power off the phone. It didn't let me. But when I hold Only the volume down button the phone makes the soft reset. The camera is also unavailable. When I start it with the dedicated button it starts, shows the loading... Status and goes back to start screen again. I think that this is caused by the power /lock button. I know that the camera is working because when I did hard reset on the phone during the startup setup it activated the camera and the next time I've started it rejected me again to the start screen. I have a solid phone repair knowledge cause I have been working in on local repair shop few years ago so I can do some basic repairs. So I'm asking, could it be the flat cable that is causing this? Maybe the button itself or the connector on the motherboard? Thanks.

Thanks my friend. I appreciate your response anyway.
    Take care.
