Student Union Questions

I bought my iBook from B&H Photovideo august 17. I'm from Brazil, but Apple doesnt mention nothing about having to be a US student to receive the discount. The cupon says that I need to have a US Address to receive the check.
I have a friend that can receive the check because i pretend to buy a 60gb ipod using the 179 discount.
So Can I have this discount or not? Didn't know how to contact anyone from apple since I'm not a US citizen.

Jamil, I think you misread the fine print, becaus apple's website DOES SAY you have to be a student currently enrolled on a US school to buy from the Education store. And since you MUST buy trough the education store to be able to enter the student union rebate, that implies you have to be an american student.
Sorry, I think your ibook does not apply to the rebate.
Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 (Student/Teacher): Questions before purchasing

    Hi,
    I'm considering purchasing Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 (Student/teacher version).  I have several questions I was hoping to get answered before I do so.  I'll list them here...
    Does the Student/Teacher version have all the same capabilities and functionality as the standard version of this product?
    The software is being offered as a download by a [reputable] 3rd party vendor.  Can the software be downloaded to more than one computer in my household?  (The same vendor does offer a hard-copy version for a mere $2 more, and I'm wondering if I shouldn't just buy that one to be safe.)
    One of the primary tasks I need to do with my digital photos most often is resize them, in large batches.  Does Lightroom 5 have the capability to do that?
    And finally, is anyone familiar with purchasing Student/Teacher software?  Is my email address with .edu extension enough to satisfy eligibility requirements?
    Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer any or all of these questions!
    -Steve

    Lightroom and Photoshop or two completely different animals in a lot of ways. It isn't a question of either/or, but rather when to use the Lightroom and when to turn to Photoshop.The differences are too great to go into a detailed explanation on a forum such as this. I use both Lightroom and Photoshop. Lightroom is my starting point for all of my work, and I do easily 90% of my work using Lightroom. But sometimes there are things that Lightroom can't do, or Photoshop just does better.
    Without going into a lot of detail, Lightroom does not modify the pixels in your image file. All changes and adjustments are stored in what is called the catalog, which is really a database. When you want copies of those images to share that include all of the Lightroom adjustments you export copies for that purpose. Because of this approach to editing, there are some things that Lightroom cannot do. That's where Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or some other editor comes into play.
    Looking back, it's easy to start editing using Lightroom. The thing I had a hard time getting my head around at first was the need to export copies of images to share with others, or to send to a lab, etc. As soon as you have that concept ingrained into your workflow I think Lightroom can be a very powerful tool. But it won't do everything, stitching panoramas, removing objects from images, and other such tasks are easier performed with other software. I'm not saying this to discourage you from Lightroom, but rather to encourage you to consider purchasing Lightroom with another product such as Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. There is "interconnection" between the two programs built into Lightroom that makes the process of going back and forth between the two very simple.
    You are probably scratching your head right now wondering what I'm talking about. I apologize. Here is a link to a good set of videos you might want to watch. Then, hopefully it will help you make a better decision.

  • $100 off Macbook Student Discount Question

    I'm going to be a university student in the fall. While I have a .edu address, I do not get my student ID until school startsl. Can I still get this discount? Should I just bring my college acceptance letter and my highschool ID?

    This offer expired months ago.

  • CS5 Student License Question

    Licensing question:
    In 2011, I purchased a student license to CS5 for my mac.  I have installed it on one laptop that I am the primary user of.  The laptop has two user logins, mine and my husbands.
    Can my husband use CS5 on the computer on an occassional basis (either through my username or his) and still be okay from a licensing point of view?  There are several questions that hint at this, but I can't find a clear answer.  I've read the EULA, but I'm still confused whether this is permissable or not.
    Thanks for any help.

    That's into the area of legal interpretation, but you don't need to overthink it. You may have purchased the license, but technically the activation is per computer, is it not? So one could simply assume that this is perfectly intended or at least within the freedom that the EULA provides... It's not like you're letting your neighbors use it for a buck an hour, or is it?

  • Stack + Union question in C ?

    Can a linked list contain character and integer linked data in C ? If so, it the code below correct? How should I change the void push (StackNodePtr *ptr, char n) function to incorporate the union data type? Thank you so much for your help!!!
    [code]
    typedef union type
    int iData;
    char cData;
    }TYPE
    typedef struct stackNode {
    TYPE top;
    struct stackNode *next;
    }stackNode;
    typedef stackNode * StackNodePtr;
    void push (StackNodePtr *ptr, char n)
    StackNodePtr newPtr;
    if( (newPtr = (StackNodePtr ) malloc( sizeof (StackNodePtr) )) == NULL )
    printf("\nNot enough memory to for the push() operation!!!");
    newPtr->top = n;
    newPtr->next = *ptr;
    *ptr = newPtr;
    [code]

    Then I can mark it correct.
    But I'm not your student
    if(!isdigit(ptr->top) )
    printf("
    NODE number %d with stored data number is %d", ++count, ptr->top);
    else
    printf("
    NODE number %d with stored data number is %c", ++count, ptr->top);
    This code does not make sense.
    isdigit() checks to see if a character represents the the symbol for
    '0', '1', '2', ... '9'
    But a character stored in an "int" is just a number.
    Assuming these are ASCII characteres, then the character
    '0' has a value of 30 when stored in an "int"
    '1' has the value 31
    '2' has the value 32
    '9' has the value 39
    So you cannot use isdigit() to tell the difference between
    a character and an integer, because if you store an integer which
    has a value between 30 and 39 would be confused with the
    characters 0-9. This code does not make sense.
    If you are going to overload the variable 'top' with either a character
    or an integer, then you need to have some way of also saving
    whether you stored a character or an integer in your structure.
    That means adding another field to your structure:
    typedef enum {
    CharType,
    IntType
    } ValueType;
    typedef struct stackNode {
    int top;
    ValueType whatIsIt;
    struct stackNode *next;
    } stackNode;
    void PrintQueStack( QueueNodePtr ptr, QueueNodePtr tailPtr )
    int count = 0;
    while ( ptr != NULL )
    if( ptr->whatIsIt == IntType )
    printf("
    NODE number %d with stored data number is %d", ++count, ptr->top);
    else if ( ptr->whatIsIt == CharType )
    printf("
    NODE number %d with stored data number is %c", ++count, ptr->top);
    else
    printf("
    Oops! Unknown 'top' value encoding
    exit(EXIT_FAILURE);
    ptr = ptr->next;//sets the pointer ptr to the next node of type NODE
    Or you need to find someother way of telling whether 'top'
    contains a character or an integer.

  • CS4 Student Edition Questions

    Hi, I'm currently a student at Seattle Art Institute and need to get CS4. My question is, if I get CS4 Student Edition is it any different than the regular CS4? Does it not include some things that the other has? Also, when I graduate will I have to upgrade to a regular CS4 in order to do my own personal work or can I just use the Student Edition. And lastly, will I be able to use the Student Edition for internships? Thanks for any help,
    -Eric

    I'm aware this post is rather old, but I was curious as to where you got this information? The "US" website does not say that, and I purchased the student version and talked to three different Adobe associates over the phone (including the supervisor) all of which said that here in the US you absolutely can use the Student edition of CS4 for commercial work.
    EDIT: never mind I saw your link. You're right about it NOT being able to be used for commercial use in the UK.
    I was worried for a second. Here in the USA you can use it for commercial work. Just called and verified the difference on the phone yet again...lol
    UK no USA yes

  • Student version questions

    Hi,
    I'm thinking of purchasing the student version of Photoshop and I have a few questions.
    I know you can install the non-student version on two machines in the home as long as you don't use both simultaneously ... is this the same for the student version?
    Also does the student version have 32 and 64 bit versions on the disk?
    Can the student version be upgraded in the future via a student upgrade or does it cost the full upgrade amount?
    Wondering if I should get the current version CS5 or wait a while if there is a new version on the horizon?
    Apart from not being able to resell the software, are there any other downsides to getting the student version?
    Thanks
    Patrick

    Also does the student version have 32 and 64 bit versions on the disk?
    As far as I know there is no special »student-installer«, so you would get the same product as anybody else.
    Wondering if I should get the current version CS5 or wait a while if there is a new version on the horizon?
    It seems CS6 may be released this year.

  • Another adobe creative suite student edition question

    hi,
    i recently bought adobe creative suite 4 design premium at the apple education store for 419 dollars (before i realized it was cheaper from adobe).  i looked at adobe.com and it says the "student edition" can be used commercially.
    my question is: nowhere on the apple store does it say this is the student edition.  The packaging says, "for educational individual use only," and was a shrinkwrapped case. i still had to submit my school id for verification for my serial number.  i called adobe customer support as well as the apple store and neither seemed to know what i was talking about.  is there any way to know whether my edition is the student edition and able to be used for commercial use?

    I have spend countless hours waiting for an Adobe Cust Svc Rep to answer my call, (should have reached out sooner) trying to find out if you can use either version for education and commercial use, by either I mean any of the CS4  suites education or academic, (I believe the education version is the $399 one and the academic is the $599 -- it couldn't be any more confusing than it is)  -- I was wondering if  the statement you made is still correct today (things change so quickly).  Thanks for your help.

  • Student ID Question

    I am looking at purchasing a CS Student edition but my ID has no issue date (just an expiry) so is there any point using it or should I fish out a couple other documents as well?

  • UK Student License questions

    Hi all,
    Two quick questions about the licensing for Student Versions.
    1) Does being a student at the Open University (open.ac.uk) qualify for a student license?
    2) Is the student license granted depending on the course being studied?  I.e. Would a student studying say, English Literature, be able to purchase a student license just as a student who was perhaps doing a Film Editing course?  Or does there need to be some relevance to the software being purchased?
    I'd be looking at getting the Premier Production Suite, and I'm doing a course which starts with a module in Forensic Science.  Later on there are courses in digital gaming and digital photography which the production suite would really come in handy..
    Many Thanks in advance

    I will become an iPhone owner this Friday when it launches here in the UK, but being that I have never had a contract phone before, can anyone tell me how the Edge feature works on the iPhone? I assume if you wander out of range of your home network it will give you the option to connect to Edge? Also, does it cost to use this feature on top of your monthly fee? If so, what are the fees per minute.
    Edge use is free and now that O2 has decided to give unlimited Edge use to iPhone owners use it at will, you connection speed with Edge should be between 120k and 220k on average
    The iPhone searches for friendly
    WiFi spots first then will connect to Edge as a second choice.
    While using WiFi you will see a WiFi icon near the top left of your screen, when connected to Edge you will see a "E" as the edge icon

  • Student Edition (question/confusion)

    I bought the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard Student Edition.
    I have already went through the process of verifing that I am a student and got a serial number.
    However the serial number that they gave me is invalid. I am in the process of trying to get in contact with Customer Support and already sent in a message to them through the Support Portal online.
    I noticed and am very curious - the box that my product came in says "Student Edition" on it. There is a silver "STOP" sticker on the CD case.  However the CD case itself, the CDs, and when I use the program on my MAC, it does not say Student Edition anywhere. It is suppose to say Student Edition on everything else??
    Thanks.

    I finally got in contact with cutomer services.
    Long story short: I ended up and am currently in the process of exchanging it for a new set as mine was defected/the wrong language.
    And it does not say student liscening on the CDs if that does matter?
    Another question, to anyone who knows how student software works: Since I am getting a new set and need to go through the process of verifying that I am student again, are there any restrictions I might run into with a second product under my name? I already sent in a message to Adobe through myidentit-e.com, which I am waiting to hear from. I just want to know if this is an issue, like I am currently thinking, that I defiantly need to clear up before getting the serial number for my new set?

  • Creative Suite 4 student licensing question

    I just purchased what I guess is the student edition of Creative Suite 4 from the college bookstore online.
    The front cover says:
    Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard
    Student Licensing
    Academic ID required
    Serial number required for installation
    Here is my question:
    I own two Macs.  Can I install this software on both of them, or only on one of them?

    Yes, from what I understand you can very well put it on two computers as long as you are the operator of both machines.

  • Student Licensing Question

    Hey Guys,
    Just a quick question about Labview student licensing. I have the 2010 student software pack and was wondering if its possible to install in on both a desktop and laptop at the same time with the same license.
    All the best,
    Tom
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    To activate the license, you have to send in the Computer ID and you get back an Activation code.  If you tried to use this activation code on another computer, there would be a mismatch with the computer ID and it would not work.  Talk to your NI sales rep and ask him if you can get two activation codes for the same license.  I know that with a volume license agreement, they will let you put Labview on 3 different computers, as long as you use only one at a time.  Of course you can only use one at a time, but it would be illegal for you to use one and your buddy to use the other at the same time.
    Edit:  I'm slow.  Smerc beat me to the punch.  I guess the 3 computer rule applies to all licenses, not just volume license.  I still think you would have to get a separate activation code for each computer.

  • Student Discount Question

    Hi everyone, I know this is unrelated, but I didn't know where else to post this and the iBook boards have helped me the most in my past questions so.... Anyway, I'm soon to purchase my first iPod and iBook G4 and I'm having a problem with my school. See I was accepted to a school that I applied to this previous spring and now I've also been accepted to a different school (which is the one I plan on attending). When I created my AppleID I put the first school in as my college, and now I'm wondering how I can change that to the school I actually plan on attending. Any assistance would be much appreciated and like I said before I know this is irrelevant to any other topic, but I didn't know where else to go.

    If you can't change in on the Apple site, open your browser's preferences and delete any cookies from Apple. When you visit the site again you will be able to enter the other school.

  • Itunes u -Student limit question.

        I am getting ready to start the school year off using iTunes U.  I have just been told that iTunes U limits the amount of students per course to 50 students total.  I was wondering if this is true?  This will be an issue for me as I have two sections of one class that is over 75 students.
    thanks!
    Lucas

    The number of students per course is a function of affiliation:
    https://itunesu.itunes.apple.com/help/index.html#itu16F92805-A89F-4DCA-9BF7-8B6A C9F5636D
    Affiliated instructors may have more than 50 students in a private class. (Yes, the help text is ambiguous about this.)
