Studio Creator 2 Update1 Binding

I have a list box which is set to auto update which updates a JSF table bound to a table in an Oracle database. When I select a value in the listbox and there is no data in the database, the table populates correctly or clears out all previous data. But if there is data in the JSF table, then the table does not update to the new database values. If I switch to an element where there is no data, it clears out the JSF table, then I select the value I want, then I get the correct data in the JSF table from the database. If I send the following command to the list box: lb.setSelect(null), the table clears. I then select the element and the table correctly populates.
Basically, if the JSF table has valid data in view, then it will not update when I try to use a different set of data filters. I can clear out the previous dataset in the JSF table using either an empty data set from the database or send a null value to the list box for selection. Either of these, clears the table, then I can populate the table with the new dataset.
I have tried releasing the data through the data provider, but that does not work. I checked what values being sent to the CacheRowSetXImpl object for update, and they are correct. I have tried several things and none seem to work. Including using onclick to start the data obtaining process.
This is getting frustrating.
I need an answer rather quickly.

No, I sent it as a bug report to Sun. When I looked at the stack trace, none of the elements in the trace were of my origin. It was all sun or Creator based classes. The problem seems to be in the Sun or Creator classes and not with anything that I am doing.

  • Studio Creator Drop down binding Issuse

    Dear All
    I want to bind to selected value of drop down , whic is like that
    AssignAffiliateSupplier.affiliateSupplier.payment.paymentDueDate
    all class have getter and setter , this is not woking and also give an compilation error as , my IDE studio creator
    but this type of binding is working properly if this is like that
    AssignAffiliateSupplier.affiliateSupplier.paymentDueDate
    this is example
    <ui:dropDown binding="#{AssignAffiliateSupplier.drpFullPaymentDueDate}" id="drpFullPaymentDueDate"
    items="#{AssignAffiliateSupplier.fullPaymentDueDateArray}" selected="#{AssignAffiliateSupplier.affiliateSupplier.payment.paymentDueDate}"/>
    thanks all
    Saman

    If you are receiving a compilation error, is this not a Java compile time issue rather than a Creator component binding issue, especially as it seems that
    AssignAffiliateSupplier.affiliateSupplier.paymentDueDate
    works properly?
    Why not create separate attribute, "Payment", under "AssignAffiliateSupplier"?
    Just some coding suggestions, without knowing anything more about project architecture.

  • How to do internationalization with Sun Java Studio Creator?

    Hi everybody,
    the Sun Java Studio Creator seems to be a great peace of software ;-) Currently I'm trying to design some forms for a hello-world-test-project. My question now is: how can I realize internationalization with property-bundles? I already managed it to create my own bundles, I set up a few locales (de, en, fr) and put in some "SayHello" Variables. But how can I associate my locale-variables in the .propertie-files with the value- or text-attributes of the UI-Components using the form designer?

    well... it's not working!
    I created some locale-properties. Put a
    <f:loadBundle basename="mypackage.mainlocales" var="messages"/>directly under the "<f:view>"-Tag as it is descriped in the manual.
    But when I write something like
    <ui:label binding="#{sites$main$mainmenu.label1}" id="label1" style="position: absolute; left: 312px; top: 168px" text="#{messages.test}"/>The designer crashes with an error-message:

  • How to call Web Services with Sun Java Studio Creator?

    Can someone from Sun please explain how to use the sample Web Services USWeather and GoogleSearch in Sun Java Studio Creator (no Portlet Application)?
    I read the Web Service Tutorial Accessing Web Services (http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/webservices.html) and this blog entry: http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/winston?entry=code_google_search_in_no .
    But the proposed solutions do not work with the services USWeather and GoogleSearch.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for your answer, dongmei.
    It seems that the MethodResultTableDataProvider does not return the response of the web service as a value field if the WSDL contains only one result element.
    E.g. from WSDL of the USWeather Web Service which returns theGetWeatherReportResult string:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <wsdl:definitions xmlns:http="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/http/" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/" xmlns:s="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soapenc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:tns="http://www.webserviceX.NET" xmlns:tm="http://microsoft.com/wsdl/mime/textMatching/" xmlns:mime="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/mime/" targetNamespace="http://www.webserviceX.NET" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/">
      <wsdl:types>
        <s:schema elementFormDefault="qualified" targetNamespace="http://www.webserviceX.NET">
          <s:element name="GetWeatherReport">
            <s:complexType>
              <s:sequence>
                <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="ZipCode" type="s:string" />

          </s:element>
          <s:element name="GetWeatherReportResponse">

                <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="GetWeatherReportResult" type="s:string" />
              </s:sequence>
            </s:complexType>
          </s:element>
          <s:element name="string" nillable="true" type="s:string" />
        </s:schema>If I drag the web service method on the page and I should be able to select the response value in the Bind to Data dialog box. But there is no value field. Value fields only occur if the web service returns more than one value.
    The question is how can I get the response GetWeatherReportResult from the service.

  • Help needed with evaluating Sun Studio Creator

    I am evaluating Sun Studio Creator as a platform for developing JSF applications. I really like its WYSIWYG editor, but strugging with how I would fit it in my environment. I currently use a Maven generated EJB layer running on JBoss.
    1) Ideally I would like to package my EJBs and WAR into one EAR and deploy it on JBoss. Is this possible through the IDE? I would still like to keep my Maven scripts for building the EJB layer (basically I like Maven lot more than Ant and I am not willing to give up its functionality). How would I go about doing EJB development using Maven in parallel with front-end development using JSC?
    2) Does Sun Studio Creator somehow lock me into its framework? I see that the code it generates uses custom tags such as the Web UI tags. I have not seen any good documentation justifying why I should be using these custom tag libraries and framework - giving up my freedom to experiment with other approaches. For that matter, I was not able to find a "user guide" on the tag libraries at all - only the javadocs, which are more like reference material. Can someone point me in the right direction?
    3) If I wanted to use just the standard components specified in the JSF specification, which tool bars should I limit myself to? The "Standard" toolbar? Also does it mean that I will need to manually rip out the auto-generated elements such as Web UI tags, framework specific backing beans etc. Would a "seasoned" JSC user even think of using the tool in this way?
    I would really appreciate any guidance you can give me on this topic.
    Thanks.

    Before I forget, I want to pass on the following feedback from my evaluation. Hopefully some of these items can be addressed in the upcoming release. Please note that I am not a JSC power user, so some of the impressions were made during a very limited evaluation period.
    1) It seems that JSC was designed to allow only the use of its framework/components such as the Web UI components etc. It seems pretty hard NOT to use the JSC framework/components and introduce other frameworks such as Tiles. I would prefer if JSC took a more flexible approach of also supporting other ways in which people may want to develop JSF applications.
    2) Support for a robust page templating mechanism. I really don't know how to create large complex web sites without introducing something like Tiles.
    3) Native support for Maven. I am sure people know the goodness of Maven and I should not have to list its advantages. It would be really nice if I can just point to a Maven pom.xml file and build my project, instead of messing around with Ant scripts. This would also mean supporting nested Maven projects.
    4) Full support for packaging and deploying ear files. This means the ability to support EJB projects living side-by-side with Web projects.
    5) It was not clear from the tutorials whether the databound controls work only with databases or can I bind them to in-memory objects. It would be good to allow binding to data transfer objects received from the middle-tier rather that going directly at the database.

  • Graphs for Studio Creator

    I need to put some graphs in my applications. I need to do line charts, XY charts, histograms, XY graphs with multiple graphs and maybe a few others.
    Does anyone know of a good package that works well with Studio Creator and JSF?

    Hi There =)
    Yes it's great that we have many open source softwares that we can import to the library manager in Sun Java Studio Creator.
    This URL gives many :
    http://java-source.net/open-source/charting-and-reporting
    But it's so hard to find at least one tutorial or instruction set that we can import libraries into SJSC.
    Right now can anyone instruct with any site or a forum which tells how to import JFreeChart or any other (JChart, JOpenChart,JCCKit...etc) through library manager and then generate graphs or charts binding chart components to database tables.
    Like this tutorial does in this URL with jschart software:
    http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=47283&group_id=185036
    The reason I can't just use JSChart software, becasue it only supports bar charts. For other types of charts we need something like JFreeChart or JChart...
    Thanks

  • Is Java Studio Creator only for very little projects?

    Hi
    I'm developing a large program with about 100-pages. I found terrible to navigate by ApplicationOutline, Property Binding and Page Navigation.
    1. ApplicationOutline should show subfolder structure hierarchically
    2. Property Binding should open the page of the binding element, and hierarchical property should be alphabetically sorted
    3. Graphical Page Navigation is just a game. I need only a tree view with add/delete management
    of navigation-rule
    Thanks

  • JSF in Studio Creator and BEA Workshop Studio

    Hi Guys,
    I found that JSF code created when we use Studio Creator is Rave
    while as if we use Bea Workshop Studio/Any Other Eclipse IDE for JSF is MyFaces ( whatever it may be).
    What are the differences between these two? which one is better ?
    I get confused why there are two different framework of JSF?
    And I dont think there is any other IDE who supports Rave other than Java Studio Creator?
    Thx.

  • Webboard project using sun java studio creator 2

    I would like to create a simple webboard using Sun Java Studio Creator 2. In the View Topic page, there are a subject and a message creator by the owner of the subject. Then there are messages reply by others. I use Table component to list all the messages. I put a Static Text and a Text Area component in a group panel. And put a group panel in a Table Column. I bind the the reply message with the Text Area.
    My problems are...
    1. The Text Area have the same value for every row.
    2. I changed the Text Area to Static Text. The binding is successful. However, it cannot display multiline message. Please suggest a component that is more suitable to bind the variable lines message. I would like each row to have different height depending on the length of the message.

  • Studio Creator and configurable datasources problem

    At design time we've binded components to a creator-configured datasource. As a result the Studio Creators generates in a '_init' method of a session bean code like
    'rowSet.setDataSourceName("java:comp/env/jdbc/mydb");'
    (where 'rowSet' is a 'CachedRowSetXImpl').
    So far so good.
    In the next step we tried to make the datasource jndi name configurable to use this code to connect to different databases. It works fine in a web/app-server environment at run time.
    But unfortunately the Studio Creator doesn't accept this code. Using something other than the shown hard-coded jndi string in a statement like the example above results in a component error...
    This means that we've to use different code at design time and build/runtime? At the moment after working at the design every time we change the code (substitution using ant, e.g.: "java:comp/env/jdbc/mydb" --> getDatasourceName() ) and build the archive.
    Is there is any other way to avoid this problem? We dislike such one code patching...
    Regards, Thomas

    Hi I found solution, i puted on the page a table -component (with brand new automaticly created dataprovider) , then i set properties visible= false for table, and now I can bind statictext with database field and deploy on tomcat server .
    But i think it is not a elegant solution in page source i habe noused-code.
    Have Any another Ideas. HELP PEOPLE !!!!

  • JavaScript problems with JSF or Studio Creator

    Hi All,
    Studio Creator has generated this code
    <h:form binding="#{general$forgotpassword0.form1}" id="form1">
    <h:inputText binding="#{general$forgotpassword0.txtLogin}" id="txtLogin" styleClass="frmObjects" />
    <h:commandButton action="#{general$forgotpassword0.btnSubmit_action}" binding="#{general$forgotpassword0.btnSubmit}"
    id="btnSubmit" onclick="alert('hello'); return checkLogin();" styleClass="frmObjects1" title="btnSubmit" value="Continue"/>
    </h:form>
    now after compilation, I get form1:txtLogin for txtLogin
    Now how can I perform client side JavaScript Validation on form1:txtLogin??Thanks
    Sudhakar

    Hi Sudhakar,
    There are code clips available which demonstrate how to make use of javascript. These are available at:
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/codesamples/codeclips.html
    The codeclips that would be of interest to you in particular are titled Set focus, Select on Mouse over and Javascript template. Using these you should be able to do the client side validation using javascript.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • [installation] studio creator on Suse 10.1

    Hi there,
    on my laptop (1,7 Ghz cpu, 1 Ghz ram), runs Suse 10.1(kernel Linux 2.6.16.13-4-default i686) and I'd like install studio creator wich is at moment on XP (and I'm not very happy about the performance).
    But looking at http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/sysreqs/index.jsp#04
    it seems that it can only runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.
    Did anyone try it on Suse, what will be the conseguence if I proceed anyway?
    Thanks in advance for your reply.

    Have you tried downloading and installing the latest HotFixes from the Update Center, on your window machine? The HotFixes have several performance improvement fixes.

  • Help needed with Sun Java Studio Creator and EJB in a Portlet Project

    Hi
    I have created an web-application with JSF in Sun Java Studio Creator 2. The web application uses a lot of EJB's which acts as the dataProviders. In a typical jsp page i have more that one data providers(the EJB's) getting used. When i run the project everything opens up properly in the browser and the application seems to be fine.
    But when i create a JSP 168 Portlet project and do exactly the same thing for some reason the Apache Pluto(comes as the default Portlet Container with Studio Creator) conks off.
    Then i started going ahead step by step:
    1. First i created a portletpage and added only one dataProvider(EJB) and ran the project...It gets deployed properly in Pluto and the browser comes up and everything shows up fine.
    2. Just to re-confirm i did the same thing with another dataProvider(EJB). So still we have just 1 EJB in the portlet page. As expected it also worked fiine.
    3. Then when I added more that one dataProviders(EJBs) in the porlet page the Apache Pluto conks off(saying that Pluto is not available)
    I tried doing a lot of things but nothing works...Surprisingly the same thing works when u create a JSF web Application project but the same thing does not work when u create a JSR 168 JSF Portlet Project...
    Did anybody face the same problem..Is it a bug in the Studio Creator...Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Hi,
    There are a few discussion threads in the feedbackprograms portal for Creator 2 EA 2. The URL is:
    https://feedbackprograms.sun.com/login.html
    In the EA discussion forum you will find threads which discuss the concerned topic. In specific look for threads titled:
    # Deploying Portlets
    # Taking a JSC Portlet to Tomcat creates a Faces Mapping Error
    # Problem with Pluto when trying to deploy a portlet
    # Request: JSR-168 Portlet Project without JSF
    We kindly request you to post your further queries related to EA in the above mentioned forum.

  • Error in deploying the java studio creator application to tomcat

    Hi,
    I'm trying to deploy my Sun Java Studio application to Apache Tomcat 5.0.28.
    A simple JSF web application built using the creator works fine after deploying the war file under tomcat/weapps directory.
    In case of a application with databse connection I'm getting the
    " com.sun.rave.web.ui.appbase.ApplicationException: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create JDBC driver of class '' for connect URL 'null' "
    above error. My application connects to Oracle database using the Oracle Server type provided by the Studio Creator.
    I have copied
    jstl.jar
    standard.jar
    to webapps\%app%\WEB-INF\lib
    The below url is currently not available ( Page not Found )stated as a solution in most of the querries regarding the deplyment to tomcat.
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/tips/deploy_to_tomcat.html
    Thanks for any help
    abhi

    I had similar problems.
    I used mysql with tomcat and have mysql in my Creator environment as well but still had the driver message you experienced.
    I found that simply copying the WAR file into the webapp directory in tomcat caused a faulty deployment (it was creating /etc/tomcat5/localhost/YourProject.xml as a directory, not as a file)
    I updated my Projects/MyProject/build.xml to include a deploy target and I manually execute the ant deploy step (having not figured out how to tweak the internal ant within Creator)
    Note that this requires two jar files (see comments in the ant definition)

  • How do I update my studio creator from source 1.4 to 1.5

    every time I try to make a foreach loop this message follows
    for-each loops are not supported in -source 1.4
    (try -source 1.5 to enable for-each loops)
    how can I get source 1.5

    Please see this FAQ "Does Java Studio Creator support Java 5?"at http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/faqs/configuration/index.html
    Does Java Studio Creator support Java 5?
    The Java Studio Creator IDE does run on the Java 5 platform, however all web applications are constrained to being compiled and run with a target Java 1.4 platform.
    For a Java Class Library project, it is possible to choose a target platform of 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5 ... but only 1.4 libraries will work with a Java Studio Creator generated application.
    Also: http://swforum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=123&threadID=59829
    btw, <creator_userdir>/build.properties defines the user properties and defines the variable "default.javac.source" which is set to 1.4 by default. Not sure if changing it to 1.5 helps...
