Submit Cancelled Dialog and Submiting by Email

Hello,
I've googled this one pretty carefully and have found similar issues but never a solution I could get to fix the behaviour.
I am using LiveCycle Designer ES (8.2) and have created a simple form. The goal is to use some of the collected information to modify the recipient, subject and body of the email so I am using a regular button, with Control Type = Submit (with the 'Submit To Url' textbox empty). I have coded the preSubmit event to parse the various fields and build the "mailto:" string.
In the preview tab, clicking the button will launch the email client (Outlook) and will properly set the email fields (To, Subject, Body). Clicking send will successfully send the PDF to the receipient. Outlook closes, then it happens, the dreaded "Submit Cancelled" dialog which I just cannot shake.
The last 2 lines in my preSubmit event are:
var cEmailURL = "mailto:" + cToAddr + "?subject=" + cSubLine + "&body=" + cBody;
event.target.submitForm({cURL:cEmailURL ,cSubmitAs:"PDF",cCharset:"utf-8"});
where, as stated above, all variables are initialised and have valid values. I don't have any code in any other event.
Is there something I need to do to inform the PDF that I have handled the submit myself?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts ..

I'm having similar problem. (Using LiveCycle Designer 8.0)
When the form was submitted, it was emailed correctly, but the user was then returning to the form to be greeted by the 'Submit cancelled' message, leading them to believe the form hadn't been sent when in fact it had.

When I changed the form to be more like your third button option Niall, I've obviously done something terribly wrong because it now doesn't even submit the form.

Any advise appreciated, I don't work with Forms alot so apologise for my lack of knowledge
Thanks

  • Document Signatures and Submiting via email

    Hi,
    My issue involves submitting an email and populating a document signature.
    Using javascript I've set the preSubmit field to have the following line of code:
    Page1.SignatureField1.validate.nullTest = "error";
    I've enabled in Acrobat Professional 8, Enable Usage Rights.
    While testing the form, when I select Submit by Email I get the error saying that "At least one required field was empty on export. Please fill in the required fields (highlighted) before continuing."
    All well and good as this is what I want to occur.
    The problem is once I sign the the document (which is the field that I've set to be validated in the above code), then click submit via email again I still get the above error message.
    I tested this with the other objects such as text fields etc, they all work fine. The problem only occurs while trying to use a document signature field.
    What am I doing wrong?

    You need to remember the password, Adobe software does not offer any back door or password recovery for the creator.
    It is recommended that, when setting certain things for a PDF, you keep the "before" file carefully as well as the "after". These things include security, reader extensions and signatures - all things that can be impossible to undo.

    Can I get the Requisition Submitted Date and Time in Emails
    Hi,
    Is there a way to get Requisition submitted Date and Time in Service Initiation Emails.

    Unfotunately, there is not a namespace that will return Submitted Date for a requisition or service. You can, however, get the start date:
    #Requisition.StartedDate# or #Service.Requisition.StartedDate#

    I wouldn't worry.  Assuming you haven't hacked the phone you cannot have installed any viruses or spyware just by clicking a link in an email.  Sounds like the page you accessed could not be read on the phone anyway, or it was just a dead link.

  • Differences between 'Cancel' , 'Exit' and 'Back' buttons in a dialog prog.

    Hi all,
    I have a straightforward questions about handlign the Cancel, Exit and Back buttons in a dialog program. What is the way of handling these function codes? I guess with 'Exit'  we leave the transaction using command 'Leave Program',  with 'Back' we can use 'Leave to screen 0' . Right? What about Cancel command?

  • Are parts of a pdf document in Adobe Acrobat Pro able to be secured so that once the recipient fills out a specific section, signs it, and submits it to the original sender, that information filled out is locked from editing for security purposes? If so,

    I have an application I'm submitting to our school website for potential students to fill out. There are sections for the student(s) to fill out as well as sections for staff to fill out. For the sake of security for the student filling out the form, I'd like to set it up so that once the student has filled out the proper sections and submits the information, any information filled out and signed by the student is locked from editing on my part. I only need to read what the student filled out and signed, then add my notes to Staff sections.  Is this possible? If so, how?  I need details!

    You can create a script that will lock the fields before signing. But when you edit the document after the student signs, the signature will no longer be valid and the document will show that it has been changed after signing. Adobe restricts the number of files you can collect information on with forms that can be saved and emailed. The restriction used to be 500 files unless you purchased the appropriate LiveCycle product to enable the pdf files for saving.
    Why in the world are you requiring potential students to sign forms. Many students will not know how to sign pdf files. Just have a button that will submit the information to a website for you to extract or to send you the information in an FDF file and import the information form. You can have a button that will lock the fields they fill out. This will ensure you do not have to worry about the 500 file limit.

  • Submit Button Acrobat 9 Pro & Select Email Client Screen

    I'm new to Acrobat and creating forms and need help.  I've created a few forms for work using 8 Pro, which have been successful.  I decided to purchase 9 Pro for home and use for our school's PTU membership drive.
    I created a form using a Word doc and the Acrobat Form Wizard.  It worked, I adjusted my fields, added a Submit button with mailto:[email protected] as the URL and want to distribute the form as "save and distribute later."  This works.  When I bring up the form for a test run, and submit to myself I get a pop up asking to Select Email Client - do I use Outlook (a few others are also listed) or Yahoo or Hotmail as my email servers.  If I click Outlook, everything is fine, the document gets forwarded to me with no problem (because I use Outlook).  My concern is for members who don't use Outlook (or the others).  They have to go through more steps by saving the doc to their hard drive and emailing it to me as an attachment.  I would really like to avoid extra steps for them.
    It there a something I'm missing in setting up my Submit button so it automatically gets emailed to me irregardless as to what they are using for email server?
    I have searched for 2 hours and have come up with nothing that I understand.  If you respond, please remember to be clear as I'm not a techno person.
    Thanks for ANY and ALL help you can provide.

    You are running into some of the classic problems/concerns for new users with forms. I will try to summarize the issues related to your work:
    1. You can create forms directly in Acrobat under the TOOLS menu using the form tools found there, or by selecting the options in the FORMS menu that generally take you to LiveCycle Designer. Questions on the forms should be put to the appropriate forum of these two, since the processing and menus are different.
    2. Having the forms be allowed to be saved (necessary for submitting the full form and not just the data that can be imported to the form) requires Reader Rights to be activated for clients using Reader. This activation limits the form use to 500 uses (check section 15 of the EULA for more details) that could be a problem for you, depending on the school size. If you have the form data submitted and do not activate the Rights, then there is not a limitation. Simply import the XML or FDF file into the form when you get it.
    3. The e-mail submission you have concerns about is valid. If you do not mind getting questions that it would not work on their machine, then fine. The e-mail submission will not work on all machines (PC , MAC, or UNIX). It depends on the client setup (you have no control), historically requiring MAPI to be active (typical of Outlook, but not other packages). In AA9/AR9 there appear to have been some extensions to this, but a lot of folks use version 9. In fact I have a different version that has come on every machine I have and do not have AA9 yet (AA4-AA8), with even older versions lying around some place. A few weeks ago someone checked in who was using AA4. Since I mentioned this problem, the solutions are:
    a. live with it and ask folks who can not submit to copy the info into the body of an e-mail or such.
    b. find someone who can add the proper scripts to a web server to receive the data. The school IT folks (if any) might be able to help there.
    c. submit the data in HTML form through a cgi-mail or formmail server that is available on many ISP servers (you may have to ask). These servers require some hidden fields telling the server where to send the submitted form data.
    Hope that helps. Bill

  • Pdf form, submit by?, and captcha

    I am a bit of a newbie to the programming side of web design. I have a handful of clients, mostly friends and small ministries, for whom I have created primarily html websites (some CSS and simple PHP). Two of the clients have pdf forms for visitors to fill out and send back by email.
    Problem one is on the site's quote and order forms. Submit buttons for submitting by email. However, the script doesn't initiate (bring up an email program) for people with Hotmail and other webmail programs. Am I doing something wrong or is this not the best way to submit? I know it can also be submitted by url, via http instead of by email, but I have no clue what is involved with having it write to our server and how to access it from there. (https://host36.christianwebhost.com/magdacsihas/magdaOrderForm.pdf)
    The second problem is that we think one of the clients is getting spam emails from robots rather than true order submissions. I read up trying to find out how to add a Captcha security image, but all I could find were related to html FormMails, not to pdf forms. Can robots submit fake orders if I have required fields that must be filled out before allowing submission or do they just record the email address for other types of spam? Can you provide advice on how to better secure the pdfs or should I convert to html forms or what? (http://www.refugeoutreachcenter.org/pp_order_Bulk0508.pdf)
    I need to fix Problem One asap. The client has asked that it be working by this weekend.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    > However, the script doesn't initiate (bring up an email program) for people with Hotmail and other webmail programs.
    It can't. There isn't an email program for these people.
    >Am I doing something wrong or is this not the best way to submit?
    This is absolutely not the best way to submit. Think of it as
    something handy for testing, but absolutely no use for
    important/commercial data for the general public.
    >
    >The second problem is that we think one of the clients is getting spam emails from robots rather than true order submissions.
    This is alarmingly common.
    >I read up trying to find out how to add a Captcha security image
    Never heard of such a thing with PDF forms. But then again, I've never
    heard of PDF forms being spammed before. But there was bound to be a
    first time.
    >. Can robots submit fake orders if I have required fields that must be filled out before allowing

    The people who write these things are smart. It's no use saying what
    they can and can't do.

  • "Submit cancelled" error

    Can someone please help me figure out why I keep getting a "Submit Cancelled" error when clicking the Submit button (Master Page)?
    After the preSubmit script verifies that required fields (first page only) are filled in, it should generate an email, but "Submit Cancelled" stops everything.

    Niall -
    The size of the graphic is very small, but I can take it down more, so will do that.
    But it's obvious that embedding the two fonts is the biggest culprit - I didn't realize. The end user requested a distinctive font for responses, which is why I chose Courier, which they like. I just assumed Arial and Courier were very common, as most agencies completing the form will not have many extras on their computers. What would you suggest? Or would I be safe to just stay with those two and not embed?
    Srini assisted me with the preSubmit even code to control the Subject, Message and Email addresses so I could customize the subject and message body, which is why there is nothing in the Submit to URL spot.
    So now, with no fonts embedded and (temporarily) no graphic, the form size went down from 1,983 KB to 53 KB (wow!!), but I still get the "Submit Cancelled" error message.
    The original is still at https://acrobat.com/#d=7Uqs6BsWpNjJzrz9k79m0g
    The smaller version with no fonts embedded is at https://acrobat.com/#d=XX9YGkyp81nqkitAiGQ9-w

  • How to handle the "cancel" button and "close" icon of a popup ?

    Hi,
    I have a popup with "cancel button" and "close icon"(on the top right corner of the popup), I want the same operations to be performed on clicking of any of these two components.
    Is there a way to handle such situation ?
    I read about 2 cases to look into this but they didn't work too well for me.
    1. I read about the "popcancellistener" but that listener is called whenever the popup closes, so suppose I have an "ok button" on the popup to create a record, after the record is created, the popup closes and goes into the "popcancellistener", now the question is "how do we know if it came there because of the 'ok button' or 'some other event'".
    2. I even checked the "DialogListener", now I'm able to distinguish between the 'OK' and 'CANCEL' button in the dialoglistener using the "Dialog.Outcome.ok/cancel", but when a user clicks on the close icon, we do not enter the "DialogListener" at all, so in this case "how do we handle the close icon click event"
    Do let me know if you need any more information from my side.
    Thanks for the help in advance.

    The following mechanism responds to any of the following events: <Esc> key, Close icon ('x'), Cancel button
    JavaScript part:
    function popupClosedListener(event){
                  var source = event.getSource();
                  var popupId = source.getClientId();
                  var params = {};
                  params['popupId'] = popupId;
                  var type = "serverPopupClosed";
                  var immediate = true;
                  AdfCustomEvent.queue(source, type, params, immediate);
    }JSF part:
             <af:popup ....>
                  <af:clientListener method="popupClosedListener"
                                           type="popupClosed"/>
                  <af:serverListener type="serverPopupClosed"
                                          method="#{myBean.serverPopupClosedMetod}"/>
            </af:popup>Finally, Java part:
    public void serverPopupClosedMetod(ClientEvent event){
    }
