Submitting Issues with Podcast Feeds

Having feed issues. My host feed http://partyfavorz.podbean.com/feed is valid and I can submit it without any problems. However, I don't receive the email confirmation that it has been received and under review. In fact, I can submit it multiple times without iTunes telling me that it has already been submitted. So, I know there is an issue there. My other feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/partyfavorz (which I prefer) and iTunes tells me it's a duplicate feed. So can't submit that one. Both are valid feeds and I'm out of options for submission. Any suggestions?

My host feed http://partyfavorz.podbean.com/feed is valid and I can submit it without any problems.
FeedValidator cannot validate this feed because its length exceeds their limits. Attempting to subscribe manually in iTunes (from the 'Advanced' menu) fails. Loading the feed in FireFox is very slow, presumably because of the length, but I also suspect the server is being slow to respond. The feed contains masses of encoded data in the description tags which iTunes will not read and which are bulking the feed up. Evidently iTunes cannot read the feed, and this may be the reason - I can't immediately see anything in the feed to crash it but obviously I can't read every line and as I say FeedValidator doesn't help.
My other feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/partyfavorz (which I prefer)
This feed can be read; the FeedValidator report says it is valid but throws up a number of errors and you should look at these.
and iTunes tells me it's a duplicate feed.
Not sure why, since it's not in the Store.
I would suggest, since you say you prefer the feedburner feed, that you look at the Feedvalidator comments and deal with anything which seems necessary. Then change the title of the podcast slightly (you can change it back later) and if possible the feed filename. That will make it look like a different podcast and you may be able to submit it.

  • Feed Has No Episodes & Validation Issues with RSS Feed

Hello! I am beyond my wits end..having many issues getting this podcast submitted and never had such issues before. Any step-by-step help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
    Here is my feedburner: http://feeds.feedburner.com/High-achievingWomensBlogazine
And here is the page where I have followed the instructions for the audio player and files: http://www.highachievingwomen.biz/podcasts/high-achieving-womens-blogazine-podca sts/
Is there something I am missing for this feed to be picking up my audio files?
(Note: since I am using feedburner, I did install the Plugins (Audio player & FeedSmith) that they recommend to use with their system as well)
And here is what I get when I submit the RSS for validation:
    Congratulations!
This is a valid RSS feed.

    Thank you!!

Your feed has no media files referenced. Your web page has embedded audio players: these won't work in the feed. You need direct links to the media files, which should be mp3 or m4a, not rm, swf or wma. These links have to be contained in an 'enclosure' tag for each episode.
This page eplains the basics of making a podcast and includes a sample basic feed soi you can see what I'm talking about:
    http://rfwilmut.net/pc
I'm not suggesting you should write your own feed, but the page will tell you what to look for in a feed.
You're using Wordpress: it's not really generating a podcast feed. You may need to add the PodPress plugin - I'm not sure whether you can get a podcast feed out of WordPress by itself - I'm afraid I can't advise on this.
You can ignore the FeedValidator comment - it's only because you have the 'item' tag at the end of a line, and this doesn't matter.

  • Several issues with podcasts

basically i already had a podcast on itunes, and the host i WAS with wouldn't let me add itunes tags to it, it would let me even look at the rss feed apart from a basic link, so i deleted all the stuff from the host and am now looking for a better host?
so the issues i would like to be cleared up
1> who is the best host to go with? cheap or free would be ideal but i understand if paying is a major thing
2> my last podcast is still up on the itunes store and i need that podcasts name as its for my business. i asked for it to be removed via the report a concern button, how long will it take to be removed?
3> what is the best way to make the rss feed? i know some websites can make them but if some restrict you from editing them, like with my last host.
    thank you for any help

    1. You can host a podcast on any comptetent website hosting service provided that it handles 'byte-range requests' - the method used by iPhones and now mandatory for the Store. There are also services which can host your podcast and make the feed for your, such as Libsyn (Robert Walch, who posts here, works for them and can give you detailed information and encouragement about its use: it's not free). WordPress is popular but complex if you want to do your own hosting, though I don't know whether it's available for Windows. However its complexities lead to more queries on this forum than any other single process. There may be Windows programs which will create a feed but I can't advise on that platform. Most free hosting services are problematic - as they have to make a profit, which they often do by adding adverts to web pages, which they can't do with media files, they have no interest in doing this. Audio hosting services often tie you down badly and are really geared to their own web pages with embedded players. Some also have serious bandwidth restrictions which could become problematic if you get popular.
    2. Ideally what you need to do is to add the redirection tag to the old feed. However you evidently can't do that; your next best option is to email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to move the Store to using the new feed. This will keep the same iTunes Store page, but subscribers will lose contact with the feed. (The redirection tag will also redirect subscibers.) Don't be in a hurry to get the podcast removed - you might have trouble re-submitting a feed with the same title. On the other hand, if your existing feed is currently empty or missing that is likely to get you removed anyway. I can't give you a timescale for anything the Store does.
    3. Many of the services and programs which create podcast feeds for you don't allow you to edit the code. In fact I'm not sure that any of the major ones do. You could hand-write the code - it's actually not difficult, but you it's unforgiving - a tiny mistake can render it unreadable - so you have to have a clear idea what you are doing. I wouldn't recommend it, but it does give you absolute control.
My 'get you started' page on podcasting includes a sample basic feed you could use as a template, and some general information which might help (though it's Mac-biased as I don't use Windows).

  • Issue with Podcast ap?

    Hi,
I already posted in the podcast production community and got a response stating that my podcast feed is NOT the issue, and that it must be an IOS or ap issue.  so here we go.
I recently took over podcast duties for our podcast.  And around a month before I took over (mid-march)  I began recieving complaints that the podcast wasn't updating to subscribers.  It seems to be mostly from people using the IOS podcast ap.  I am using it myself, and I can search for the podcast and find it, but as a subscriber the podcast will not update automatcially, or aknowledge that a new podcast has been uploaded.  I am aware that it can take a few days to update from my feed, but it still should alert subscribers when a new podcast is uploaded.
With that said, the podcasts are being updated at the store, the podcast ap is not updating on several subscriber's iphones unless they search for it, which defeats the purpose of being a subscriber.
    Any thoughs?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Can you post the output to the command "debug client "?
Can you try if the client has any issues if he was connected to an SSID with OPEN authentication?
Is the wireless NIC drivers updated?

  • Apple has Major Issue with Podcast Updating

I have been getting reports from a large number of the folks we represent at RawVoice indicating they are having the same issue with the podcast listings updating in iTunes.
We are going to poll our 6000 podcasters and have them start watching this more closely. Everything has been working perfectly for such a long time most of us never check iTunes anymore.
It could be some update that iTunes is doing but it is negatively effecting many podcasters because the listeners do not know enough to hit Refresh on the subscription listing.
I know my download numbers are way down over the past week because it looks like I have not updated my show. Please check your podcast listings. If you see that they are not updating within a couple of hours of posting start submitting trouble tickets.
Something is broke and I don't think Apple is aware of it. I am getting standard boiler plate responses back from tech support. But if they have enough submissions then they will know something is jacked up.
Here is the info to submit a ticket, you will have to be persistent or you will not get a response.
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

try taking down the power to the ATV since the last update. Then power back on.

  • Issues with podcast submission, tried multiple options

I’m trying to submit a new podcast to iTunes.  I’m using podpress on Wordpress and hosting the mp3 files on our servers.  I know podpress isn’t ideal but it seems to be the only one I’ve found that work with our website.  The subscribe to podcast by url is working fine, it downloads all the needed information.
    http://centralfloridatop5.com/category/orlandotourismreport/feed/
But when I try to submit the podcast I keep getting the ‘We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed’ message.  I’ve checked multiple times the picture size, file with no spaces and other options I’ve found on these boards.I even had our IT guy take a look at it and he seemed to not know what the issue was.
I tried the regular blog feed http://centralfloridatop5.com/feed/ and it works for the podcast by url but again not the Submit a Podcast feed url.
I’m not out of options and don’t know what to try next.  Any ideas?

As you say your feed can be subscribed to OK. I can't see any obvious reason why it's falling over on submission, though there are a few minor points:
Your server is a bit slow to respond, though I wouldn't have thought the delay was long enough to cause a timeout.
Your filenames have spaces in them. Spaces are not allowed in a URL, but the feed is handling this correctly by substituting the code %20 for each space so it shouldn't be causing a problem, it's just messy.
The 'length' attribute in your 'enclosure' tags is set to '1'  - it should be the file size in bytes. I wouldn't have thought this would have caused a problem.
Sometimes the submissions process falls over - I can only suggest waiting a day or so and trying again.

  • Link to report an issue with Podcast update

Someone posted a link so we could report an issue with the Podcast app the last time there were issues with an upgrade.
I sync with my laptop iTunes. Since this latest update to the app, when I delete a podcast in iTunes on my laptop it will not delete on my i devices during a sync with my laptop. It just grays them out and leaves them on my device. It looks like I can manually delete them, but when you click the edit function to delete them, they are no longer grayed out, so you can't tell which to delete and which to keep.
I don't do anything with the cloud, because I have limited wifi service and do most of my updating at a free wifi hotspot.
If someone has that online link on where to report issues, I would appreciate you posting it again and this time I will save it.

    I have a MSI 975X Platinum rev 2 mb with a e6300 processor overclocked to 2.24ghz.
If your CPU operates @2.24 GHz, it means that you increased FSB frequency to about 348 MHz.
To make sure there is no misunderstanding here, let me point out the following:
Memory frequency is ALWAYS linked to FSB frequency by the FSB/DRAM Ratio you can select in BIOS.  If you select 1:1 for example, the BIOS will show that memory frequency is 533 MHz. This value however, only applies to the default FSB clock speed of 266 MHz:
    266 MHz x 1 = 266 MHz (or 533 MHz effective DDR2-frequency).
If your system is overclocked, what counts is only FSB/DRAM ratio, not the memory speed displayed in BIOS.  That means, if you set FSB/DRAM ration to 1:1 and FSB frequency to 348 MHz, your RAM will operate @:
    348 MHz x 1 = 348 MHz (or 696 MHz effective DDR2-frequency).
    The main question is:
What are you talking about when you say, you can't make your RAM operate @800 MHz?
The BIOS does not offer a proper divider to get your RAM to 800 MHz @348 FSB clock speed to begin with.
You have the following choices if your overclock your system:
    FSB=300 + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1.33
    300 MHz x 1.33 ~ 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
    FSB=320 MHz + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1:1.25
    320 MHz x 1.25 = 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
    FSB=400 MHz + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1:1
    400 MHz x 1 = 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
Use CPU-Z to monitor the DRAM frequency that is actually set if you are overclocking.

  • Issue with podcast v2.0 app seeing synced podcasts

    Hi Everyone,
I would be extremely grateful if someone could explain an issue I am facing with using the new Podcast v2.0 app on my recently upgraded iphone 4S IOS 7.0.4
I am using iTunes 11.1.3.8 on a windows 7 x64 machine.  I have lectures, speeches etc (which I like to listen at 2x speed) that are in mp3 format from different websites etc that I download to my PC.   I add them to iTunes and change the "Media Kind" from Music to Podcast within iTunes, I have no problems applying this process, the categories & titles appear in the podcast menu and are synced perfectly fine onto my iphone 4S IOS 5.0.1.  I was naturally using the standard music app to listen to the podcasts and I was happy.
I have now updated my iphone 4S to 7.0.4 and have added the podcast app to listen to the podcasts.  I do exactly the same process as I have detailed above, I have no issues, I can even see the numerous titles in their seperate podcasts listed under the podcast menu under my iphone in iTunes - so they have been physically synced over to the iphone.  The problem is in the new podcast app, I only have one podcast with one title listed, (the newest one) all the other podcasts & titles are not shown anywhere.  If I listen to the only title available to the end and then resync my iphone, I realise that the actual title played was the oldest one in iTunes. (not the newest as listed in the app) When I listen to the same & only listed podcast in the app (always the newest one) it is actually the second oldest title that is playing (according to iTunes)
So obviously I assume the podcast v2.0 app is a lot stricter with or it needs additional requirements to be applied to an mp3 file in order that they are show up correctly in the app apart from simply changing the media kind in iTunes (which worked perfectly fine before in IOS 6 & below)
My questions (sorry to take so long to get to them) are, does anyone know what those requirements are? can I apply them to the mp3 files within iTunes or do I need to use 3rd party software to modify/add them so the podcast app will see these manual podcasts?
I hope someone can you help me out with this one as I really enjoy listening to podcasts and feel that my user experience would be greatly hampered if the limit to the availability of podcasts is only to those who have published on itunes or offer subscriptions.  The ability to add podcasts manually and have them synced via iTunes is always available so surely it is only a matter of properly formatting, labelling and adding the correct tags to the files so they show up in the podcast app.
Thanks in advance for your help

(P.S Somone mentioned in aonther post changing the genre to "Podcast" as well, will check that out and get back to you all)

To confirm, changing the genre to "podcast" has no effect on displaying the entire list of titles or other podcasts in the podcast app.  I beleive the app to have a serious bug.
I can see all the titles in spotlight search, I can search by title name or even artist name and they appear, so clearly they are available in the iphone.  Another major issue is I can't play them in the podcast app.  I can select one from spolight and the podcast app loads however it always play the same title that is playing, it won't chnage to the title I selected.
Another oddity (bug) is I can delete the one and only title that is listed in the podcast app and it will delete it - the title name does not change however the podcast itself changes to the next one on the list.  I can keep deleting them one by one.  the title remains the same but the contents of the podcast is the next one after next one as it goes down the list.  So the app is not able to pick up & display the numerous titles even though it can play them.
I can change the media kind to either Audiobook or iTunesU and the mp3 files are successfully listed in both the music app or ITunesU app respectively and I have no issues seeing them all, playing them or syncing them.  only issue with itunesU is can't increase to 2x speed, it says only at 1x
There really are some major flaws with the the podcast app v2.0. I will add a new ticket to the apple bugreport site for developers concerning these issues.

  • Serious issues with Podcasts & URLs

    Hi there,
I'm having some pretty baffling issues as of late. I decided to hook my podcast into feedburner, and that process has proven to be quite easy. Even redirecting iTunes to that URL was fine. But all of a sudden, iTunes has stopped working and cannot connect to feeds or anything of the sort.
The original XML file iTunes used was "http://wearela.me/lamecast.xml". This was replaced with "http://wearela.me/podcasts.xml". But the replacement URL is only being pointed to by Feedburner.
From there, there's a 301 redirect on my site from the original "lamecast.xml" to the new Feedburner URL "http://feeds.feedburner.com/WeAreLame". I also kept the original "lamecast.xml" and did a:
    <itunes:new-feed-url>http://feeds.feedburner.com/WeAreLame</itunes:new-feed-url>
Just to be safe. However, the 301 redirect should alleviate the need for this.
All of this was working JUST FINE until today. Today, iTunes decided it wanted nothing to do with any of this and started throwing errors at me and other subscribers.
I've seen two errors so far. The first is the oddest. "There was a problem downloading "The Lamecast from WeAreLa.me". Then it says (and this is the weirdest part) "The URL "http://wearela.mefeed://feeds.feedburner.com/WeAreLame?format=xml" could not be found on this server.
The thing is, that's NOT a legitimate URL! How iTunes even managed to smush URLs together is beyond me. Nowhere in my code do I even point to the base "wearela.me" url for the podcast. And it's tacking on a completely different URL to it.
So this is my conundrum. I am completely in the dark and have no idea what to do from here. My feeds validate 100% and everything should work. iTunes has just decided it won't.
    Can anyone help me?

I've seen this bizzarre combining of URLs before, but I have no idea what causes it; perhaps it's a bug in the Store, but it certainly doesn't make any sense. Unfortunately it means that the standard methods for redirecting a feed won't work as there can be no such URL for you to put a feed with a redirect tag in.
Given this I'm afraid you have only two options. The first is to abandon the old feed altogether. You should get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner to theDiscussions Forum: however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck you you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

  • Mail attachment generated in UDF in SAP PI 7.1 - Issue with line feed

    Hello,
    Situation is:
Implemented a scenario in SAP PI 7.1 with a mail receiver following this thread:
    /people/samuel.chandrasekaran2/blog/2008/10/06/xi-mail-adapter-dynamically-building-attachment-and-message-body-content-using-a-simple-udf
which is about moving message lines from sender into an attachment forn the receiver mail.
    It is working great!
The receiver gets the mail including the attachment with all added lines.
But when opening this mail there is an issue depending on the program we are using to open the attachment
which is defined as txt file
    - Using MS Editor 5.1 (Windows XP 2007, SP3) the Carriage returns and line feeds (added with
in the UDF) to separate the message lines are not recognized. In the Editor each
is shown as □   within the text.  Word wrap (flag set in the editor) is different to the carriage return/line feeds set in the file.
    - Using MS Notepad 5.1 (Windows XP 2007, SP3)   situation is the same but
is NOT shown as □ , it simply seems to be unvisible. Word wrap (flag set in the editor) is different to the carriage return/line feeds set in the file.
    - Using Word 2007 the carriage returns are recognized and used in a correct way to display the file content. But now mutated vowels (äüö) are not recognized. They are displayed as
    So I followed this thread:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/96/f04142099eb76be10000000a155106/content.htm
    Nice....
In the editors there is no change, but when opening the file in Word it asks now how to convert the file content
(proposing UTF-8) and Word recognizes mutual vowels.
But there seems to be a side effect....
Following the second link,  PI recognizes an error.
    This is the error message.
MP: exception caught with message Null as XI message received (PrincipalData in ModulData is null)
Adapter Framework caught exception: Null as XI message received (PrincipalData in ModulData is null)
Delivering the message to the application using connection Mail_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: java.lang.Exception: Null as XI message received (PrincipalData in ModulData is null).
But the message is sent to the mail recipient which could be ok if PI would not repeat the mail sending now for several times.
So we will receive not one but a number of mails.
So we removed the modul recommended in this help link from the channel.
Result: Behaviour in Word changed now to the described one. But the errors are no longer coming up in channel monitoring incl. message send repetition. So this is a first success. But the partner wants to process the files first with one of the named editors. So we are looking for another solution now to fix the last issue!
    Your ideas are really welcome!
    Best regards

    Hi,
as I found this in wikipedia:
Another common problem is the use of '\n' when communicating using an Internet protocol that mandates the use of ASCII CR+LF for ending lines. Writing '\n' to a text mode stream works correctly on Windows systems, but produces only LF on Unix, and something completely different on more exotic systems. Using "\r\n" in binary mode is slightly better, as it works on many ASCII-compatible systems, but still fails in the general case. One approach is to use binary mode and specify the numeric values of the control sequence directly, "\x0D\x0A".
    Back to my issue:
In the UDF I am adding "\r\n" but only the "\n" seems to survive!
In Mapping test line feeds are available and the lines are shown as expected.
Using Notepad ++ to open the created txt file from the mail shows that LF is in the file at each end of line but CR is missing.
CR is only at the end of the last line in the file and is not from the UDF that creates the mail or the UDF that creates the attachment lines. Seems that this is added somewhere else behind the mapping.
This is what I found in galileo computing
(http://www.galileocomputing.de/glossar/gp/anzeige-11241/FirstLetter-Z, SORRY, only available in german language!):
In Parsing of XML-Documents the XML-Parser changes the end of line delimiter internally in general to a simple line feed (LF, #0A) as usual in UNIX. ..... In Windows this could result in problems with readability of  source texts (e.g. in Notepad) which can be solved by choosing the right editor.
My target application is on Windows and not able to "choose" the right editor (PI system is on windoes OS too) !
But Im wondering where the CR at the end of the text comes from when all the \r\n will be replaced with \n as described.
    Ideas are really welcome!
    Best regards
    Dirk

  • Problem with podcast feed on windows 7

    Hi
I have had the following podcast working in itunes for over 3 years.
However, a couple of months ago I moved to a new PC with windows 7 and now the downloads start, stop straight away and give a 404 error.  However, when I use my old XP pc or Vista laptop the downloads in itunes still work.
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/stanway-evangelical-church/id277422426?mt=2
I have even copied the link against one of the podcasts in the itunes store and copied into a new browser.  When you then click play in the itunes browser version it plays.  So it is not an issue that the podcast does not exist and the server being down.

Hhhmmmm! There is definitely a problem.
I've just tried the first link you gave, found the Podcast in iTunes Store and selected Free for the episode of 29th July (which should download the epsiode as a Podcast). Although it looked as though iTunes was downloading it, and gave no error message when it "finished", there is nothing downloaded. (Never seen a failed download but with no error message before!)
I even tried the episode from 8th July, but with the same result. In fact, in both cases, the progress bar went straight from "looking for the episode" to "done" in the iTunes Download section. I even attempted to watch the download in my file manager. The temporary folder is created but no content arrives and eventually the temporary folder is erased.
This is a Podcast problem. Although you managed to play an episode, (in iTunes - I can't), it is a different process to "play" the file as distinct from downloading it as a Podcast episode, so that explains why it can be played in a browser but not downloaded as a Podcast.
I suggest you contact the programme's producers, since it is they who control the Podcast, not iTunes/Apple. I'm sure their first reaction is likely to be that it's an iTunes problem. It may be, (although I doubt it), but as I stated, Apple don't control Podcasts and they will not fault find this one. From previous posts about faulty Podcasts, I know that if the problem is with the iTunes Store, it will still be the producers of the programme who fault find and then report the issue to Apple.

  • Issue with RSS Feed Service-Urgent

    Hi,
    1. I am using the service provided by UCM for using extracting details from the RSS feed.I tried using the service with a RSS feed url i.e.("http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories") works fine and displays all results on my custom page.
    2. The same piece of code, I moved my client instance but found nothing happens not even I am getting any error. Only the thing I can see is a page loading and loading for long time.
    3. I found a document related to RSS feed it has mentioned to upload fragments into the SS which i did in my and client instance. The names are RSS_Feed.Zip and RSS FEEDS_FRAGMENT_LIB.zip.
    4. The feed URL provided when executed from browser in client and my instance displays feed, but when use it with service works on development instance works fine, but
    doesn't work on client instance.
    5. Below mentioned is the sample page which I am using to execute the feed.
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <html>
    <head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><!--$include ss_layout_head_info-->

              <!--$endloop-->

I found the issue, the service provided by UCM i.e. the GET_REMOTE_FEED as when checked in the source code found doesn't support https. So any request made on https will give no result.
    Thanks,

  • Strange sorting issues with podcasts?

I subscribe to the Onion News Network podcasts, the audio only versions, and no matter what information I change I cannot get my podcasts to sort together. iTunes keeps them together in the finder, but the app separates them. I've had two separate icons for the past few years, and now there is a third! Please see the image below and help if you can. The second view only shows 3 podcasts, as seen below.
P.S. The new icons randomly show up when the podcasts are refreshed. Is it something on Onion's end? If so, why is nobody else asking about this!

    Hi Vetsrini,
I have implemented the above mentioned code in my logic. But it works fine only when the nodes in the XML has the data. In case if the XML has null value in one fund, It is not sorted according to the latest records. Can u please provide an alternative how to sort the data using date? I have read in ur previous posts that the date needs to be converted into Canonical Format inorder to sort according to date. Can u please send me the syntax how to convert a date into Canonical Format? Right now the format of the date in my XML is in MM/DD/YYYY format. Please help me. I am struck up with this only issue which is causing me a trouble since 1 week.

  • HP Envy 4500 - issues with paper feeding on intial setup

I just bought this HP Envy 4500 this afternoon and I need to use it asap.  Upon initial set up (before any wireless connections), I am stuck at the paper feed needed in order to print the test page. I loaded plain white paper but it still tells me to load the paper.  It sounds like it's preparing to print but then the paper does not feed, it never pulls the paper in.  I have used 3 varying stacks of paper to try to get it to pull and nothing.
    Please help.  TIA

    Hi @Loopster2,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are setting up your HP Envy 4500, but it is not recognizing the paper, so it keeps asking you to load the paper.
Please make sure the Paper Tray is pushed all the way back, alot of the times if you are getting this error it is because the paper tray isn't installed properly.
