Subprocess in BPM

dear all
I had a secenanio in BPM which have a Array, need to loop the array to multiInstance for each item in th Array. in this case, I use a subprocess in the bpm process, and in the subprocess included a humanTask, for the subprocess, in "loop Characteristics" tab, check MultiInstance for Loop Characteristics, xpath for count the Array as Loop Cardinality, if uncheck "Is Sequential", all the instances will be created, but all instance's data are same as the last data of the Array, but if check"Is Sequential", the instance will create one and after the humanTask completed, other instance will be created again. each instance's data is loopCounter item in the Array, the data is correct.
hence, My question is why the data is not correct when paralel create instances (uncheck "Is Sequential"), it always get the last data of the Array as all instances's data?
Regards
shifeng

hi shifeng
how can xpath for count the Array as Loop Cardinality? Could you tell me this?
I need this in my project.
Thanks

  • BPM 11g Process Hierarchy?

    Hi,
In the BPA Suite I can define a process hierachy by assigning a BPMN process diagram to a function like a subprocess.
(How) can I do this in the BPM Suite 11g?

I believe you have to use the Send/Receive tasks now in order to call a reusable subprocess in BPM 11g. This requires the sub process to be message based where as the Call activity allowed non message based processes.

  • BPM support Inheritance ?

    Hi,
Is BPM/BPM object support inheritance property of OOPS concept ?
If so then how and how can we implement that in ALBPM ?
    Thanks in advance.

Others have probably gotten Type inheritance to work, but I haven't been able to get it to work since 5.7 and suggest you try Behavior inheritance instead.
I uploaded a project that has XML content going to a child process and back up to the parent process successfully. This exported project is on: http://www.4shared.com/file/123127271/a7da63f0/XSDIntrospectionToChildProcess.html.
In the Catalog's "XSDIntrospect" module you'll see both the introspected XSD and the BPM Object that inherits from the XSD. Inside both the parent process and called child subprocess, this BPM Object is used as an instance variable ("po"). In this project, the values entered in the parent's XML are passed successfully to the child and then from the child back up to the parent successfully.

Any Idea how to cancel a subprocess? thankyou.

  • Call subprocesses dynamically at runtime in BPM 11g

    Hi
I have a requirement of executing a subprocess from a main process. The challenge I am facing is that, the name of the sub process to be executed is going to be known at runtime.Following is my scenario:
I have a main process which gets an XML input and contains a context based on which a search is made on the DB. The DB has the mappings of the context and the sub process names.
Now how can I implement this in BPM 11g (Jdeveloper 11.1.1.3). Is there any functionality provided to call a subprocess at runtime?
    Thanks in advance

I am sorry Kshama, you are using BPM 11g and I did not notice it.
I am using BPM 10g based on eclipse IDE and those instructions provided by Daniel was for this version. I am not able to suggest you how to perform similar actions in 11g but I guess that except for the interface, the rationale behind is still the same. Maybe you could read that thread and use it to help point yourself in the right direction within the documentation.
Hope someone else who knows better the 11g platform came to help you.
    Bye,
    Luca

  • BPM 11g Workspace Audit Trail not showing Sub process inner activities

    Hi all,
I have been developing some BPM Process in JDev 11.1.1.5 and have deployed them in BPM Suite 11.1.1.5 over Windows Server 2003. I've found the following and would like to hear your opinion:
1- The Process audit trail in BPM 11g Workspace shows the activities of the process but the Sub-Process call activity appears as just a single activity and you can not see the inner activities of the sub-process... making impossible to track the sub-process.
2- In the EM Instance trail you can track the subprocess activities, but they appear wrong; diffrent names, diferente types (ex: interactive activity shown as service call)..etc..
Are these known issues? is this the expected behaviour? Is it just some configuration I missed?
    Thanks for your time.

For anyone with the same question, I got this from Oracle support about both questions:
1- I checked with our Engineering team and regarding the expanding of the subprocess activity , it is planned to be released in 12g. So right now , it is a work in progress feature being addressed by our developers.
2- Thanks a lot. I have reported a bug 12909848 to our Engineering team. You can track the status of the bug from the SR.

  • Catch error in BPM process

    I'm working with 11g.
I have a BPM process and I want catch the system errors to redirect the work flow at a subprocess or in the particular form that can help external users
I have tried with "evant subprocess" but don't work (BUG fix in only for PS5(11.1.1.6 version) )
    Can you help me?
    Thanks
    Elena

Can you be more specific about the bug?
It's true that the fault handling framework for recovery (as in BPEL) is in an upcoming release. But you can (in 11.1.1.4) put the activities that would generate errors in an embedded subprocess, then put a boundary catch event on the subprocess to catch and handle system and/or business errors. The flow out of whatever handles the error can rejoin the main flow or loop back to retry. A common pattern is to have to flow go to a human activity where the outcome of the activity determines whether to retry.
You can also catch error events in an event subprocess, but you can't continue the main flow from there. That flow (within the event subprocess) either interrupts or is concurrent with the main flow.

  • Error Handling Inside BPM Process

    Hi All,
I have a scenario in which, when a BPM Process errors out due to any of the System Exception I'm catching it using a Event SubProcess activity and handling it.
    Problem:
I want the control to get back to the next activity i.e Normal Process should resume once the control is out of the Event SubProcess.
I found that using a Normal Subprocess with boundary event helps to resume the flow back to normal control. But Its difficult to have individual Subprocesses for N number of activities.
Is there any other method to overcome this?
    Please provide a solution.
    Two Cents,
    Karthick.

Yes we do, but we have many activities inside a single process since the business is big.
    >
Sounds like you're pretty far down the road now, but just a word of caution. I've found myself on projects with large processes. It's not just exception handling that you'll find more difficult, but many things became more cumbersome to maintain in a large process.
    >
A thought of using Boundary Events with subprocess looks good but its not possible to use a single sub process for all boundary events in order to resume to normal activity.
    >
I did not follow this. If you invoke a subprocess using a Call activity, you'd be able to add a boundary event on the Call activities for the activities in the called sub process. You'd also have a process that is easier to read and maintain.

  • BPM 11g - Abort process instance

I have a BPMN process that does 3 things:
    1. Calls the third party interface
    2. Starts the Timer proces aynchronously. This timer process is to make sure that the task gets picked up up an admin user (Human Task);if we don't get the response within the agreed time limit.
    3. Awaits the response.
So, when we get the response back from the backend system, it should do 2 things:
    1. Stop the timer process. This could either be in a waiting state (i.e if the timer hasn't expired) or might have moved to the Human task step.
    2. Notify the awaiting instance so that it is then moved onto the next step in the process.
I have used correlationId to match the request and response. It is working (with Send/Receive task) and notifying the waiting instance, but I am not sure how to abort the running Timer process.
Should I use an interrupting event subprocess in my Timer process, that if called should throw an exception. This will then move the Timer process instance to the Exception handling flow and that will lead to the termination of the process instance, or is there a better way to achieve this. TaskService is the other option I thought of, but to achieve this simple thing, I thought that would be an overkill. Is there a re-commended pattern to meet this requirement.
    Thanks

    Hi Raj
    1. Terminate means you want to End that Process no matter where it is at any instance of time. Say if I have BPM Process with 10 SwimLanes it can be at any of the Lanes with any User. I am taking simple Example with Human Tasks, but you can apply for other component like Timer servces etc.
    2. I hope you are aware of 2 things specially for Human Tasks: Action named "Withdraw" and a role named "Process Owner". For any human task, under Actions menu you should See a Withdraw option. You can code your application to capture this output using XOR gateway and if outcome is "WITHDRAW" directly end the process and go to End Node. If you have many places like this, there is easy way instead of running wires eveywhere. Create a simple throw even that goes to End Node. And after each human task check outcome if Withdraw, that that error, which will end the process. I hope you got the point.
    b) The reason I mentioned Process Owner is, generally I do NOT give Withdraw control to each User who can work on any Task. If accidentally that User do this action, thats it. The process ENDS and you can never retriive it back. So under .TASK file, I preven Withdraw action to Asssignee and Instead give this action only to OWNER (Process Owner). Process owner is like admin who can pretty much see any tasks and I would give him all the permissions like these Withdraw, Reassing, Suspend etc etc. This gives more controlled power to your application. Anyhow, in bpm workspace, login as process owner and search for any Task aged for long time and jus Withdraw it.
You can do all the above using APIs also as far as you have Withdraw action going to the End Node.
If your requirement is something else, ignore above notes. But still you can think along the above lines, if all you want is to Kill a Running Process anytime.

  • BPM 11g Worklist Replace User Selector

Does anyone know of a way to use the BPM 11g Worklist Application but replace the User/Group selector for the assignment actions? We are looking for more of a tree type selector based on Organizations/Roles rather than a flat search.
    Thoughts?

    Hi,
You add a subprocess. In the subprocess you could loop (like while in BPEL) , according to the loop condition, if the count is 2 or smt. else, you could send the task to other people. You can use a skip rule if the count is 2, skip this human, go to the other one. Whatever you want exactly.
Don't forget to add a deadline to the Human Task. When the task expires, the process will move on to other task in the process.
Edit: Forget expire, expiring the task won't work. I am looking for a better solution now.
Edit2: This shall work. Again use a subprocess. Use a loop condition. Set condition like userActed = 1. First use a script, do something like loopNumber++ . And use a Timer this time, which will start the user task in 1 hour + 1 min. And expire the user task in 1 hour. If the user acts in 1 hour, set userActed = 1, so the subprocess won't loop again. But when it does, you can set your human tasks to act like how you want them to. In the first run, user1 should get the job. In the second run, skip the first and user2 should get the job.
    HTH.

  • BPM 11g  ids:getUsersInAppRole  function

    Hello,
I'm working on BPM 11g, and I'm trying to use the getUsersInAppRole function but it returns multiple nodes since there are more than one user in the role, then while trying to assign it to a XML list of strings it throws an exception. I think I should use a transformation to achieve the assignment, but what do I use as a source element since it is the result of a function and I don't know what type it returns?
    thanks

    Hi Josué,
Let me preface this by saying I'm not especially proud of this solution. It's a workaround to a bug (at least I think it is a bug) in 11.1.1.5.
Here are the steps I did. Let me know if one or more of these do not make sense.
    1. Before entering the subprocess, I populate a 'parts' variable (a component variable that is a Types.Participants) from my method call (know you're using 'getUsersInAppRole' - I'm using a different method that returns this type). This stores the array of userObject (a Types.UserObjects type component).
    2. Create the subprocess using the 'MultiInstance' loop characteristic and uncheck the 'Is Sequential' checkbox. For the subprocess's Loop Cardiality I used the XPath Expression
count(bpmn:getDataObject('parts')/ns:userObject)In the Completion Condition box, check the Use Expression checkbox and enter the XPath Expression
bpmn:getActivityInstanceAttribute('subprocess0', 'loopCounter')  <= count(bpmn:getDataObject('parts')/ns:userObject)3. In the Arguments Definition tab, the incoming needs to be (in my case anyway) a variable of the type 'Types.UserObjects'. This means that you're passing in the whole array of users instead of a single userObject. The reason I had to do this is because when you click the arguments 'Use Associations' checkbox and edit it and click the Expression Builder icon, the loopCounter is not present in the list of available variables (the loopCounter variable is used by the subprocess to keep track of the loop count that you're currently on). Because it is not in the list, you cannot just pass in the single UserObject.
    4. You can work around this problem by retrieving it using a Script activity (or using the incoming associations to any activity) and setting a 'part' variable (a variable of the type Types.UserObject) to
parts.userObject[loopCounter]It's odd that you can get the loopCounter variable everywhere inside the subprocess activity you need it except for inside the incoming Arguments Definition tab.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • How to send JMS Message from a BPM Process

    Hi All
I have small query regarding sending JMS Message from a bpm process. Is it possible to send JMS message from one bpm process to another bpm process.
I have a scenario in which I need to send a JMS message to a queue where another process is listening on that queue and as soon as the message is received on the queue the process instance is created.
I know how to listen for the JMS message on the queue, but I don't how to send a JMS message from a process.
Also Can I create process by sending the Notification to the process instead of a JMS message. But the process to be created is not a subprocess i.e. Can notification be send accross different processes.
Any information or example in this regard would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Here's one approach to sending JMS messages from an Oracle BPM process. If you're doing this just to send a message into another process, do not take this approach. It's far easier and quicker if you do this using the OOTB "send notification" logic.
These steps describe how to do this using WebLogic. The steps would be different if you're using another ap server / JMS provider.
    1. Guessing you've already done this, but first expose the two required WebLogic jar files for JMS messaging as Java components in the External Resources. The two files for WebLogic are weblogic.jar and wljmsclient.jar” (located in the < WebLogic home directory > /weblogic/server/lib” directory).
AquaLogic BPM JMS Queue Listener for WebLogic 8.1
    2. You've probably already done this, but add an External Resource to represent the J2EE container:
    • Name: “weblogicJ2EE” - this is important and will be used in the next step
    • Supported Type: “GENERIC_J2EE”
    • Initial Context Factory: “weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory”
    • URL: “t3://localhost:7001”
    • Principal: and Credentials: whatever userid and password you defined to access theWebLogic administrative console.
    3. Create the External Resource that represents the send queue configuration. In this example, I'm calling it “WebLogic Send Queue”. This is important - remember what you named it because you will use this name in the logic that sends the JMS message. This new External Resource is configured as:
    • J2EE: “weblogicJ2EE” (same name as the second External Resource you created)
    • Destination Type: “QUEUE”
    • Lookup Name: “weblogic.examples.jms.exampleQueue”
    • Connection Factory Lookup Name: “weblogic.examples.jms.QueueConnectionFactory”
    4. Here's the logic to send a Message to the Queue
    <pre class="jive-pre"><p />msg as String = "Hello World"
    jmsMsg as Fuego.Msg.JmsMessage
    msg = "<?xml version=\"1.0\"?><Msg>" + msg + "</Msg></xml>"
    jmsMsg = JmsMessage(type : JmsMessageType.TEXT)
    jmsMsg.textValue = msg
    sendMessage DynamicJMS
using configuration = "WebLogic Send Queue",
    message = jmsMsg</pre>
Note that the “sendMessage” method uses the configuration parameter “WebLogic Send Queue”. You previously created a JMS messaging service External Resource with this name in the third step.
Again, please don't go this route if you're just using it to send notifications between processes,
    Dan
