Substitute an Icon in URL field

How can I change an
http://alt-web.com/favicons.shtml
selected icon into
another favicon?
I think I have to use the a analogous commandline as
"image/vnd.microsoft.icon".
Does somebody know the analogous "favicon-term"?

here a better explanation for my request:
First step: I used the
http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/
to change the
IE-icon to a icon stored in my "Source (Image)".
Second step: I don't like it and now I would like to change
it into another
icon, created the same way. But always remains the first
choosen icon.
My reflections: I changed the icon in this way: <link
rel="shortcut icon"
href="favicon.ico" type="image/vnd.microsoft.icon">. Now
there is no further
"vnd.microsoft.icon" in my URL field, that I could replace,
only the new
one. And cause of that is my question, could I modify the
line - for
instance - in this way: <link rel="shortcut icon"
href="favicon.ico"
type="image/vnd.favicon.icon">. (I tried it already but I
failed).

Why is icon in the url field indicating RSS availability no longer showing?

Why is the RSS Icon indicating RSS availability no longer showing besides Firefox's URL field when I know the feature should be available on the website? It shows up in Seamonkey for the same site. I'd like to subscribe in Firefox, but can't.

The RSS icon was moved to its own toolbar button. You can add it to a toolbar by dragging it from the ''[[how-do-i-customize-toolbars|Customize palette]]'' ( Firefox Button -> Options -> Toolbar Layout ''or'' View -> Toolbars -> Customize ).
The Bookmarks menu also displays a ''Subscribe to this page...'' item if the page has a feed.
If you still prefer the RSS icon to appear in the url bar, there is an add-on to do just that: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/rss-icon-in-awesombar/

Icon (URL) in the URL field

Does anyone know how to ad a icon (logo) in the URL field right before the URL? I know a lot of sites have this and it would be a great thing for me to add.

Highlighting URL field?

I really like Safari 4 but the one thing that really annoys me about it is the way highlighting works in the address field. In Firefox if I click on the address the whole thing highlights and I can type in a new one which is what I usually want to do. If I want to add to the address I click the right arrow or click again in the address field. Logical and efficient.
In Safari the first click simply adds an insert bar, second click highlights part of the address, third click highlights the whole address. So to replace the address (my commonest reason for clicking in the URL field) I have to click 3 times!
Edit: I just figured out if I shift click I can highlight the whole thing in one click but that still requires two hands. Is there any way I can change this to a one handed click right click or even double click?

Click the favicon (the small icon) to the left of the url text. That will select all the text in one go. Or press cmd+l (letter L) to select all the text via the keyboard.
Cmd+l is analogous to Firefox's ctrl+l.

Since Firefox updated yesterday, it won't respond to addresses in the url field or search terms in the search engine field. I can only go to addresses already in my bookmarks.

When I type an address into the url field the browser will not load the page...it just sits there as though waiting for me to press enter. Also it won't respond to the recently used addresses that show in the dropdown menu. It will also not respond when I try to use the search engine field (google). This started yesterday after Firefox automatically updated to version 3.5.9. I don't get an error message, just no response at all.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Cursor is in URL field, not (Google) search box

This problem is referred to on so many forums, but after half the afternoon going from site to site trying out suggestions, I haven't been able to fix it...
When I open Firefox (Google is my homepage), the cursor is in the Google search box, but if I open more tabs, the cursor is always in the URL field. Why would anyone want that?
I have tried restarting Firefox with all my addons disabled, and tried using extensions like NewTabURL 2.2.3, but the problem is there just the same. Has anyone found a definitive way to fix this?

First, please update to the latest version of Firefox. [[Update Firefox to the latest version]]
Currently this is the default behavior to have the cursor in the url bar when you open a new tab. However there has been another add on that has been suggested in the past: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/auto-cursor/?src=search]

Chrome and firefox searches on address/URL field are crashing my Mac

Hello,
Since Friday (3 days ago), I've noticed that whenever I use the address/URL field in either Chrome or Firefox to search for something - not entering a valid URL, but entering something for the browse to use Google to search for what I entered - my Macbook Pro (10.9) crashes - kernel panic. The same does not ocurr with Safari.
I have Norton Security installed in my Mac, and I have uninstalled both Chrome and Firefox, rebooted my Mac, reinstalled them, and the situation remains the same. Any ideas?

Lost safari's url field

I've just managed to lose safari's url field... click something and it's gone.

Thank you for replying to Lesley Olley question. I just had the same problem after a resent up date. I felt so stupid to realize it was such a simple task after spending 7 hours searching all my applications, utilities, folders and the hard drive for a missing component. Then downloading various utility repair and maintenance applications. Gosh, what a wasted day. I hope Lesley didn't do this. But that sad part is I went a week going through Yahoo web browser to get to every place I needed to go that wasn't already in my bookmarks.
I did try using Internet Explorer but it ran so slowly (I'm on dial up) that even the extra time going through Yahoo was quicker then waiting for Internet Explorer to dial up the address. It is funny because on my XP computer dial up is actually pretty fast using Internet Explorer.

The URL field for iPhone Calendar Events is missing?

iCal on my Mac and my MobileMe Calendar both include a URL field for Events. I don't see the URL field on my iPhone Calendar events??? Am I missing something. I can't automatically have that link sync from iCal or MobileMe? I don't want to always have to manually move the URL into the Notes field.
This is a very annoying - Apple can figure out fancy Multi-tasking and App Folders for iPhone OS 4 but couldn't figure out how to add a simple URL field for Calendar Events??

My org website is working okay, just a simple html site with javascript buttons and a more technical search function on the way. However, throughout the website, that is, whether a visitor is on the "Home" screen, or the "Hope & Help" screen, or the "Professionals" screen (etc.), the URL field only shows "index.html" -- clearly I must have made a mistake when I set up the new site, but where? It's because you're using frames when there's no reason to.
Each content page is actually a separate webpage inside the parent frame.
The easiest way to resolve this would be to re-build the site using a pre-made template inside Dreamweaver then cut and paste the content into the various pages.

New tabs highlight the URL field; not the search field.

My homepage is Duckduckgo. I often use ctrl+t to open a new tab and immediately proceed to the search bar. As of yesterday (and a massive headache for me), no longer when I push ctrl+t does it go to the search area, but rather occupies the URL area! I wondered if this was Duckduckgo, so I changed my homepage to other search providers, specifically Yahoo and Google. A new tab still focuses on the URL field, not the search field. I wondered if this was my add-on "New Tab Homepage", so I disabled it and went into about:config, changing the value of the new tab from about:newtab to Duckduckgo. It failed to solve the issue. This is a huge issue for me and I need to find a solution immediately.

Well, I just got it fixed. I ticked the box that said to place focus in the URL bar and saved, then unticked it. Now it loads back in the search bar. Thanks!

Adding URL field to CCM catalog

Is there any way to add new URL field and display it at the CCM Catalog?
I donu2019t want to add links to images; I want to add links to internal web sites.
I added a /CCM/URL kind of field but the system has changed it to string.
Do I have to define new data type?
