Substitution string and Help page

I have a substitution string used in item label. However, when the Help page is displayed, instead of substitution value the substitution string is displayed. Is this expected behaviour, a bug, or something else?

Adobe Flash plugin has crashed and help pages don't solve it

I have ensured that I have the latest version of Firefox 9.0.1 and the latest version of Flash 11,1,102,55 but now whenever I try to load a page that uses Flash it crashes. I have tried reloading the page as suggested in the help pages and disabling hardware acceleration but this did not solve the problem.

Just to say that I think this is actually a problem with my service provider so I would not like to trouble anyone else in this forum for the time being.

Lost all bookmarks after upgrading to FF4 and help page solutions no help

Upgraded to FF4. All was well for the first few days then all of a sudden my bookmarks were gone. I've been through all the topics on the help page and still cannot access any bookmarks or even add new bookmarks. Bookmarks is just totally disabled. Went back to IE but hate how slow it is. I just want to be able to create new bookmarks if I can't find my old ones.

It's pretty much guaranteed to work if it's at all possible to recover your contacts, although other simpler solutions may work too and some are discussed there.

Substitution String in Row Template order dependant

Hi Folks,
This questions is related to an earlier Complex Detail Report Layout: Can it be done? about building a complex row template (thanks for your help, Vikas!).<br><br>
Having built the row template (Named Columns) and tested it in a separate application, I have been preparing to incorporate it into the target application. (Here's a screen shot of the work in progress.) I decided to see if I could use column aliases with the substitution strings and so added an alias to the query for the report.<br><br>
Strange values appeared (like a "Y" for a Project Name) and initially I thought the aliases wouldn't work, so I backed the change out. However, it was now quite apparent that the substitution strings were not taking their values from the column names, as I expected. I was able to put the values in the correct place by modifying the order of the columns selected in the query.<br><br>
Am I misunderstanding? Shouldn't the order of the columns in the select statement be irrelevant when named columns are used? <br><br>
Since the order in the query is NOT the order displayed in the template, and I have nearly 30 fields, (many of which are dates, and I couldn't possible guess which is which if the substitution doesn't work properly), it seems important to understand how to ensure the proper values appear in the report.<br><br>

OK, I had a select statement:
select ps.project_name, ps.project_manager, ps.gts_dependant, ps.gxp_relevant from project_status ps, eprs_program p
where
ps.program_id = p.id and
p.program_number = :P6_PROGRAM_NUMBERThis populated the fields #PROJECT_NAME#, #PROJECT_MANAGER#, etc. properly.
I even switched the order around and put the ps.project_manager ahead of the ps.project_name and template still worked.
I restored the order and checked again. All is good.
I changed the query and added an alias like so:
select ps.project_name as "PROJ_NAME", ps.project_manager, ps.gts_dependant, ps.gxp_relevant from ...The report showed the substitution string "#PROJECT_NAME#" (as expected, because the column was now aliased.) So this is good.
I went to the row template definition and changed the substitution string #PROJECT_NAME# to #PROJ_NAME# to match the query -- and the substitution strings broke again!
The report template now behaves as described earlier; being position dependant. Now I suspect that this is a bug, and not something caused by my mucking around.
I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the matter and potential workaround. At this point, I will likely delete the region and try creating a new region. I would hate to loose the whole page, the top part was a lot of effort. <sigh>

Substitution string used in custom Report column name does not display in PDF version of report

I am using Apex 4.2.6.00.03, Apex Listener 2 via Glassfish4 and have set up all my applications and reports on this system. We previously used Oracle 10.2, with Apache with a custom fopping document.
My issue is that I have a report that has custom column headings using a substitution string to pull in the begin or end date for the report. When the report is run and displayed, the column headings appropriately display the date. However, when I try to set up the Print to PDF option, the column headings are not displaying correctly.
Is it possible to use a substitution string in the column heading? I am able to use the substitution string in the Page Header and Page Footer and those display correctly.
In the Report Attributes setup I have set the "Strip HTML" to Yes and I have four columns that are using the &"ITEM NAME". string. See below for actual display:

In the Print Attributes setup, when I get to the Report Columns section, the Heading column displays the headings as set up in the Report Attributes custom and I am not able to edit these names. See below:
In the version of the report that is Printed to PDF I get the following for display:

First, the misspelled word is a test object and not data.
Second, all data display correctly.
Third, text object is displaying the old misspelled word.
Fourth, I have eliminated the possibility that problems in of my pdf export routine cause this issue by exporting directly from Crystal Reports Viewer. I print the report to the crystal report viewer. The report looks good. The text object is spelled correctly. Then I click the Crystal Reports viewer's export button in the left upper corner and I export to both EXCEL and PDF. The excel export looks good. The pdf export is misspelled. All the export occurs internally in Crystal reports.
Fifth, I found outthat all users who have this problem have the ADOBE PDF writer installed. I am just suspicious that ADOBE writer is interferring with Crystal export
Sixth, I cannot recreate this problem on any of our development and test machines. It only happens on end-user laptops.
Seventh, I changed the name of the report that had this problem and created a new version and installed on end-user laptop. The behaviour still persists. User saved the report as both RPT and PDF. RPT export looks good. PDF version has the spelling problem. Data on both reports is up-to-date and good. I copied the same RPT export to my PC and exported it to PDF, the pdf looks good. That is why I think something on the end-users laptops is causing the export to use some cached template.
One more thing I did was to change the report name in VB.NET project, recreated a new package and installed on end-user's laptop. The same exact problem is still there.
I have worked with Crystal Reports more than 15 years and I have never such a weird behaviour before. I know this sounds very weird. We are all baffled by what is happening.

The version info is: wwv_flow_api.set_version(p_version_yyyy_mm_dd=>'2009.01.12');
This should be wwv_flow_api.set_version(p_version_yyyy_mm_dd=>'2012.01.01');
... but this error is due to a manual modification of the export file.
We parameterise some values, so that the we can use the old-school DEFINE variables in our deploy process via SQL/plus.
One of the developers made a copy-paste error when doing that ...
So there is no bug !

In synk, when I click "add device" instead of opening a window to enter the codes, it opens another firefox window and takes me to the help page for synk. [SOLVED]

I got a new laptop today and after downloading firefox I tried to use the synk feature and it says I have to add device on my old computer. In following the directions I never get to the screen to enter the codes from my new computer onto the old one. When I click add device on the old computer it takes me to the help page on the web with the same directions that took me there in the first place! So, how am I supposed to synk my new computer if I can't add device on the old or simply log in to my synk account on the new?

Ok, I figured it out, I clicked "i don't have device available" and it let me log in to my account.

Why selecting text and hitting F1 doesn't go to specific help page anymore?

Hi. Up until a while ago I was able to, while working on some code, select a particular actionscript component such as a Class, function or property and hit the F1 key which would immediately bring up Adobe Help in my internet browser already showing the page relevant to my selection. For example, if I had selected the word "MovieClip" in my code and hit F1, the Adobe Help page describing the MovieClip class would come up, without me having to navigate to it.
Now (for some weeks actually), it no longer does that. When I hit F1, Adobe Help comes up in my browser, but opens at a general menu page regardless of what text I select, which in fact makes selecting text before hitting F1 redundant anyways.
Does anyone know anything about this?
It was so much more convenient before! Now I have to search for what I'm looking for every time. I'm learning on my own, so I find myself going to the Help pages quite often. At the end of the day, it sums up to be a lot of typing and searching and pages to navigate through. Also, it seems that navigating through the Adobe Help pages is kind of slow which just makes it even more of a drag.
I'd appreciate any information on this, or possibly some help in how to get things back to how they were.

Firefox 23.0.1 crashes every time I try to access any Mozilla help page or forum, and sometimes on other pages Win 7 pro 64 bit

Running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and Firefox has crashed at least a couple dozen times today and nearly as many yesterday. I've tried all of the suggested "fixes", to no avail. I just tried the Windows compatibility tool mentioned in one of the forum post and that didn't resolve the issue either. I'd love to add the links to my crash reports, but can not get to this page on the computer in question - any time I try to load any Firefox or Mozilla help page, forum, etc. in that computer, Firefox crashes (even when running Firefox in Safe Mode). Firefox also crashes on miscellaneous other pages now and then. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

The CrashIDs are what is needed. Do not attempt to attach or paste the reports.

So you are saying it works ok as long as you avoid certain pages such as this Forum. That makes me wonder if it could be malware that is blocking access to assistance.Run malwarescans with multipe and up-to-date tools.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Ipod touch wont show up in usb or itunes help pages just bring me in circles. how can i get it to show up. I use windows xp at home and tried everything then tried a relatives computer using windows 7 and still nothing. this is an older ipod touch

the help pagers just bring me around in circles. the ipod doesn't show up in system devices under the busses. i've tried just about everything. Im using windows xp at home and though maybe it was because of that. so went to a relatives and used a brand new lap top avus with windows 7 and it wont show up here either. When i got the ipod a few days ago from a third party the only screen i could get to come up was a picture of a usb cord with an arrow pointing towards the itunes logo. I downloaded i tunes and couldn't get it to change. brought it to at&t store today they hooked it up with my usb cord to thier computer and suddenly the menu screens work and i could even get online with it yet when i try to hook it up to one of my computers it doesn't show up anywere where can i go to get this fixed and fixed quick jumping around the apple help pages have put me in a foul mood and im sick of it two days spent trying to get it to show now. im sick of waiting around i need help asap so i can return this **** thing if it turns out it is broken somehow..which i dont think it is.

Thank you Klaus1.The large font, I copied and pasted from my mail box.I'm visually impaired...not to a huge degree but it helps to use the large font.I believe you are right about the copyright on the imac stuff but if facebook decide otherwise, you have to reply electronically to their challenge.If you can't provide a reference directly from the copyright owner then they remove the video.I believe this is a programmed response and no human is involved which now makes it impossible for me to get my video uploading restored.They detect added soundtrack automatically and then challenge.There are many others in the same boat and facebook will not communicate.They have various discussion sites on which I have left messages including Mark Zuckerbergs own facebook but I don't think anyone from facebook ever reads them.I intend to start a second facebook which I can use purely to get my videos uploaded as a lot of my friends enjoy them BUT don't want fall foul of their programming again.If only iMac would put something on the net to this effect.I think it is so unfair that with modern technology it is impossible to contact these large conglomerates personally and receive an email response.I tried emailing [email protected] but I got a failure notice.If you have any ideas on how to get verification from apple direct, I would be very grateful.Thank You.

A Firefox Help page appears for a moment, and is then wiped, in FF4RC

I go to the Firefox Help Page 'Viewing video in Firefox without a plugin', and the body content appears for a few moments (on my Vista laptop), and then disappears, leaving only the Title,the Contributors line, a block of white space, the nurse pussycat image and text block. The stuff on the RHS is OK.
I get the same on this w7 laptop, except I don't see the proper page at all (possibly because this laptop is quicker?).
On 3.6.15, on both laptops, the page appears correctly, I think.
I guess my question is can someone who knows how to submit a formal bug report on FF4 see if they can reproduce this, and if so, then please submit such a report?
Or you could maybe tell me what I'm doing wrong; though as it fails on two separate laptops in FF4, and works on both in FF3.6.15, I don't think I am doing anything wrong.
I've added troubleshooting info below, obediently, but I doubt it's needed...

Pretend I know nothing about this topic, because I DON'T, and help me figure out how to format bullets in 'Pages' for IPad. I turned them on somehow, and now can't turn them off, and they are popping up in all the wrong places

I think I effectively proved my point about knowing nothing about this, by posting my whole question in the title. To review, I have a 1 year old iPad, and have Pages on it for a word processing program. I somehow turned on bullets on one of my documents and can't figure out how to stop it, and they are in all the wrong places. How do I turn it off?

If your computer is on one minute before it freezes, than you have one minute to secure your serial number.
click the apple----->click about this Mac ------> click on version----> until you see the serial number. You may have to do this a couple of times if it freezes before you have all the numbers. A camera might help.

You must goto Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings ... this worked 100% for me and once that is compelte go back and try to pass the terms and conditions, you will see the "agree" button in the bottom right hand corner

Isabellasf have you ran the installation files which were downloaded? By default they are downloaded to the download folder within your User folder.
