Suddenly java.language.ClassLoader errors

after successfully compiling and running a program I wrote another one and got the following errors when I tried to execute - compilation was ok

I then tried it with the program that ran before and got the same errors and I'm now getting it for all programs I tried to run
I not only don't understand the errors but also don't know what to look for in the documentation
any help would be appreciated - peter jurkat

Hi Peter,
The error message "NoClassDefFoundError", means that the java class loader cannot find the file "OracleDemo.class" in subdirectory "SourceCode/BookPrograms/ASCII/ch05"
Unfortunately, based on the [lack of] information you have supplied, I can only guess as to how to correct this problem. Hopefully, some of what I suggest may help you.
When you launch the JVM, the class loader(s) search for required "*.class" files by searching a set of directories (and their subdirectories) whose names are determined via your configuration. Part of that configuration is an environment variable named CLASSPATH.
If you claim that you were previously successful in launching your java applications, but now you are not, then obviously something has changed in your configuration -- possibly the value of your CLASSPATH. Again, I wouldn't have a clue what that change is because you haven't supplied much information regarding your environment.
If you are using an IDE (like "JBuilder" or "eclipse"), perhaps you have modified its configuration?
So basically, you need to correct your configuration/environment (probably by changing the value of your CLASSPATH environment variable) so as to allow the java class loader to locate the "OracleDemo.class".
Judging from the information you have supplied, it seems that you are on a linux/UNIX platform. If that is the case, then have you seen this lesson (from the "Java Tutorial")?
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/getStarted/cupojava/unix.html
Hope this helps you.
Good Luck,
Avi.

  • Java Language Specification error reports

    Well, I wanted to report a typo in The Java Language Specification, Third Edition (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/download/langspec-3.0.pdf), so from http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/ I clicked on the "feedback form" link (which points at http://developers.sun.com/contact/feedback.jsp?&category=doc&mailsubject=Java%20Language%20Specification%20Feedback). This was redirected to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/join/overview/index.html which offers no such feedback form. Consider this sort-of-broken link as the first problem I'm reporting.
    The second problem is in the aforementioned pdf, section 4.8 (Raw Types), page 58, where on can read:
    "The type of the member(s) of Inner depends on the type parameter of Outer. If Outer is raw, Inner must be treated as raw as well, as their is no valid binding for T."
    This should be instead:
    "The type of the member(s) of Inner depends on the type parameter of Outer. If Outer is raw, Inner must be treated as raw as well, as there is no valid binding for T."
    I think a forum category should be created for just this: error reports about the documentation (pdfs, APIs, support web pages).

    Your intentions are admirable, but you are probably wasting your time. This is a forum for Java development related questions and 99.5% of the visitors are not related to Oracle at all. most likely nothing will be done with your information.
    I think a forum category should be created for just this: error reports about the documentation (pdfs, APIs, support web pages).It is a good idea actually, but such a thing would need very tight moderation and then there is still the question of how to arrange that something is actually done with the reports.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Error accessing jdbc driver

    Hi,
    We are using WebLogic Server 7.0 as Application Server.
    We now create a connection pool named regPool and
    a Tx datasource named regDS.
    When we get the connection from the datasource, exception occurred.
    java.sql.SQLException: Error accessing jdbc driver: driverURL =
    jdbc:weblogic:pool:regPool, props = {enableTwoPhaseCommit=false,
    jdbcTxDataSource=true, connectionPoolID=regPool}

    So I guess that why we can't use CMP for finding data. Here is the error when we call the finder.
    javax.ejb.FinderException: Exception in findAllEmr while preparing or
    executing statement: 'null'
    java.sql.SQLException: Cannot obtain connection after 30 seconds. ,

    Exception = Access not allowed
    at
    weblogic.jdbc.jts.Connection.wrapAndThrowSQLException(Connection.java:694)
    According to the exception message, it looks
    like the connection fail between WLS and Oracle 9.2.
    Here is a scenario I think you should need to know.
    I change the table-name in the weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml
    to a name that doesn't exist in the database.
    Then, re-package the EJB, copy it to server and restart the server.
    A exception occurred that says the table doesn't exist.
    So, in this case, it looks like the datasource works and
    connection is fine.
    Any recommendation will be appreciated.

  • Windows classpath vs java.class.path error in QuickTime based applet

    Hello
    I've spent days reading and searching the internet, and I'm still stumped why some Windows installations are not able to run my QuickTime for Java based applet even though QuickTime is installed (the specific error is: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: quicktime/QTException). I have some additional details and a question that might spur someone to an insightful nudge.
    On a Windows system that fails:
    echo %classpath%
    .;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QTJava.zipWhich is where QTJava.zip is found on the (faulty?) system, but java.class.path is just:
    java.class.path = C:\PROGRA~1\Java\jre6\classes
    Of the dumped system properties, only java.library.path makes any mention of the QTSystem folder (or any other QT or QuickTime related items).
    java.library.path = C:\Program Files\Safari;.;C:\Windows\Sun\Java\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\PROGRA~1\Java\jre6\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\
    I ran across one thread (elsewhere) where the user was having problems with loading some classes from a complex JAR environment, and a solution was to write a custom class loader. After doing so, the user got the same error "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: quicktime/QTException" that was resolved by extending the custom class loader to include .zip files. I'm not sure if the solution is relevant, or if he simply broke something in his custom class loader that would have worked otherwise. I've not written a custom class loader and not sure where to begin, so before I ventured down that path I was hoping someone might shed some light as to if this is a dead end or potential solution. This is a signed applet (QuickTime now requires it, even if you are only playing files of the same server) and it does work on several Windows machines and all tested Macs.
    Thank you,

    Something is wrong with the library.
    Staring at java code will not help you figure that out.
    Maybe it isn't intended to be loaded in java but instead it loads java itself?
    If not then write a C/C++ basic app that links that dll in and see if you can at least get it to start.

  • Can you write javac in java Language

    Here's a compiler written in Java, it is part of an IDE I wrote:

    }This is taken straight from my IDE; you'll have to adapt it slightly to make it into a seperate application

    I checked the path of mtcokus.dll, it's where is must be. What can I do to fix this error?

  • ADF: What do I do about java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException errors?

    Hi,
    I have an application that has suddenly started giving java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException errors when I run it. The application only has two pages in it at the moment; after it is started it runs okay to begin with, but if I go from the first to the second page and back again, these errors start popping up whenever I try to do anything (like selecting a row in a table, or trying to log out of the application. The errors don't SEEM to be directly related to any recent changes in the application, but it's hard for me to tell.
    The integrated weblogicserver log has this to say (from just one click on the page):

    I don't really know how to use this information. It seems to point to internal packages, and doesn't really tell me anything about what is actually wrong, or where (that I can see).
    How can I find out what the real problem is, and what has caused it?

    I don't really know how to use this information. It seems to point to internal packages, and doesn't really tell me anything about what is actually wrong, or where (that I can see).
    How can I find out what the real problem is, and what has caused it?

  • Problems with java.lang.NoClassDefFound error *solved*

    realising my stupidity I have solved the problem
    I am quite new to java and I have been using the Java for Dummies book to help me to learn it. I decided to use the command line tools instead of an IDE and hadn't encountered any problems until recently. I took a break from learning Java after reaching the end of the book but have decided to come back to it. The problem now is that when I run my programs I get the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: helloworld (wrong anme: HelloWorld)
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source)

         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source)
    This occurs from a simple hello world program:
    class HelloWorld
       public static void main(String[] args)
          System.out.println("Hello, World!");
    }I have no idea what the problem is, although by looking at similar threads it would appear that it may be something to do with the classpath variables however I do not know much about this as I followed a tutorial on the internet to set the classpath up.

    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: helloworld (wrong anme: HelloWorld)This part of the error message means you typed in "helloworld" but the class that java found was named HelloWorld. In Java, those are different - java is case sensitive. It will work if you enter HelloWorld.

    I can't believe the stack trace is originated from PosixSocketMuxer.
    posix is only for unix platform.
    In anycase before loading a performance pack we check the OS and
    based on that we will load the appropriate dll/shared library.
    AFAIK, performance pack is not certified on 98.
    That's why it's failing.

  • Weird java library path error

    I have the so file in the path and the file name is spelled correctly. Java still complains that the so file is not in the java.library.path. I used System.loadLibrary("Java_xDVDFSReader"). Is it possible that my so file is messed up? I included the gcc command I used to make it. I'm not familar w/ gcc so I'm not sure if the error comes from a "messed up" so file or not. The class files are automatically into the build/generated/wsclient/project-name file of my project.
    I copied those class files into my source folder to make my program work.When I searched my system I jus found two of these files in build/generated/wsclient/project-name folder and source folder of my project.
    I am running the program directly through NetBeans IDE.
